At the moment, I have three in mind, which one do you think would be more interesting? Thoth, Isis, or Ma'at?

I think you could do the most with Thoth, wisdom gods are really interesting and versatile and the concept of war vs wisdom is really interesting to me. Isis could give a different spin on the same concept of wisdom. Ma'at is really interesting as a concept but I feel like it might be difficult to do much with her. it's up to you in the end, though.

Isis or Thoth then... Healing vs destruction..

Isis and Sekhmet are pretty closely tied (they play the same roles depending on which myths you look at, Isis is among other things the goddess of marriage and health while Sekhmet is the goddess of fertility and healing on top of fire and war weird combo, I know) while Sekhmet and Thoth aren't as intertwined as far as I know. if you went with Isis, it'd make a lot of sense for our characters to be fighting on the same side, either to stop the war or in it, and if you went with Thoth, who's pretty far from a war god and often someone who goes between good and evil as a messenger, it would make more sense to have your character trying to prevent the war either with or against my character.
sorry if this made no sense cx it looks like it might to me but it could be confusing as hell for all I know

What if we went with something like two opposing groups who were trying to keep the same thing from happening but want to try it from different approaches?

I don't know how... Emmm...
How about an example, WWII and you have the US and Soviets, yea? Differences in how they did stuff, but worked together to try and stop the war.
Same concept, but may be different gods?

ahh, alright, I think I get it. so would the focus be on them solving the problem (ie WWII) or having some kind of conflict (ie cold war)? I think the answer would be the former, but I wanted to check.

Isis.

Isis it is. I'm looking forward to her dynamic with Sekhmet seeing as they're the same but also polar opposites. it'll be alot of fun I think ^^
so, which gods should we have feuding, then? if Isis and Sekhmet are out of it, it might make sense to have some gods they don't really have a connection to, and if we want them fighting maybe Horus could be on one side since both of them are connected to him closely in different ways (both, depending on the source, are said to be his mother)

Characters.... So for the most part royalty, do we want to go high as in Kings, princesses and priests or lower down?

Post by 𝘨𝘰𝘭𝘥𝘦𝘯 𝘴𝘶𝘯 on May 24, 2017 17:32:42 GMT -5
I think higher ups is probably best given the whole royalty = dieties, but maybe we could do one that's higher up and one a bit further down. my character, for example, could be an honoured soldier as opposed to actual royalty given that Sekhmet is a war god and then your character is higher up in the royal hierarchy reflecting the fact that Isis is queen of the gods?

I remember that when I first started out with Egyptian rps, my character was the queen. You think that might be interesting? Being queen or princess?

I absolutely do! that could be a lot of fun, especially if mine ends up being a soldier after all. that's another layer to explain their different approaches.

if it were me, I'd go with a princess since a queen is a lot more restrictive, but it's up to you
