**OFFICIALLY ON PAUSE UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE**
BLOOD WARNING FOR PAGE 2!! o: Hello Art Forum! I'm Eph, creator of the fanfic " The Absence of Rain." The fic was originally posted to the WFF on August 1, 2016, and reached its completion October 30, 2016. Since it ended, I've been planning some bonus content for my readers, including this comic. There will, naturally, be some spoilers for the fic, but I'm hoping it reads alright on its own. The story follows Gullpaw, a former loner who was adopted into the Clan after an accident on the Thunderpath that left him permanently scarred. After a battle with a vicious group of rogues, the previously silent Gullpaw must speak to warn his Clan, but his warning comes too late, and a Clanmate, Slatewave, is killed. This comic follows Gullpaw as he struggles with the aftermath of the battle and makes a new friend along the way. Without further ado, here's "Not in Vain!" I hope you enjoy! . . .

aaa Sparrow i'm honored!! those backgrounds were definitely tricky. i literally went out and poked my head inside a honeysuckle bush trying to figure out how to draw it before just going, screw it, this is good enough. also birch trees are fun to draw so expect some more of those in future backgrounds lol. (i love your rocky comics btw!! my initial reaction to your comment was just internal screaming??? a celebrity??? in my comic??? i am honored<3) Brownie ᴛᴜᴇsᴅᴀʏ im glad everyone likes the colors! tues your description is amazing <3 but really i tend to use these colors for all of my art so?? im glad it fits. as for length, i really don't know page-wise, probably between 15 to 30 pages but it depends on pacing/art. i've got the script already, so it's just a matter of how everything works out, i guess. i've got a start on the next page, but i'm also working on another fic and i want to get a chapter for that by wednesday at the latest... i'll ping you when there are new pages. ᴛᴜᴇsᴅᴀʏ that "cat hide and seek" panel is probably my favorite panel so far. super fun to draw. also the calico queen on the far left is modeled closely after my friend angel kitty, whom you've heard my stories about. a cameo appearance, if you will

I just read the entire fan fiction in one sitting and ohmygod it's just so beautifully written and emotional and like... real? I guess? I also love the beach setting I think it's very unique. Now I'm even more excited to see more of the comic!!
(And I think I saw earlier that people get pinged when new pages are up? Would you mind adding me to the list if that is indeed a Thing?)

I really love this comic so far! I just love everything about it! Also my favorite part of the fan fiction was the part after Slatewave's death and if I'm right this comic is set in the same time period? So awesome! Can't wait for the new page!

You draw with a mouse? That's cool! I really love the way you drew the three pages(especially the backgrounds. I can't draw a lot of backgrounds yet...) and your style is so realistic!

cocoafox like brownie said, this comic is based off a fic on these forums, and the link is in the intro! also, as a general psa: ever since i got page 3 up i kept planning on getting another page up quickly, but i've honestly lost the rhythm and i don't want to string you along. i'm also participating in wff beach bash the whole month of july, which means i'll be putting a lot of my effort into that. for these reasons, i'm going to put this comic on an official pause until at least the end of july. that doesn't mean i won't end up making any new pages, it just means i have a reason not to beat myself up about it if i don't. thanks for your patience and your enthusiasm! feel free to check out my other work on the fan fiction forum in the meantime!
