"Hey, hey, hey, it's fine, I didn't want you to know," Simon said quietly, wincing at the panic that seemed to overtake his new friend. Maybe it was the wrong decision, to not say anything, but he really wanted to try and be at least semi normal. Apparently that didn't work out as well as he thought it would, his plan backfiring greatly. Simon sighed, leaning forward and enveloping Chicago into a hug. "I just... wasn't ready to tell anyone at this school yet. I'm still not, just want everyone to think I'm normal for a bit longer, alright?" He said quietly, waiting for his friends panic to subside, pushing away his own anxiety. "You didn't make me do anything." He added firmly into his ear, running a hesitant hand up and down his back.

"That mean you gonna keep me around for a bit," Simon teased, referencing how he seemed to close himself off, still thinking that Chicago just wanted to be friends. His eyes were closed, though, taking advantage of the rare moment of affection, usually not able to be this close with anyone this much. He kept his steady rhythm of rubbing the other teens back, noticing how he had first been stiff but seeming to relax into his touch. He was calmer now, even if he still said he felt bad, which made guilt prick af his stomach. He didn't mean for Chicago to feel bad about this. "Just remember I'm just your average guy, who just can't really handle stairs. That's about it, anything else I know when to stop myself, okay?" He soothed. Alright, that was a lie. He liked pushing his limits, seeing how far he could go. Chicago didn't need to know that yet.

Simon had his eyes closed during the hug, but his eyes snapped right open when lips brushed passed his jaw, causing him to let out a small sound, eyes wide. He winced when Chicago untangled himself, clearly looking mortified and leaving the junior rather... confused. That was the first time anyone did anything like that to him- man this kid was full of firsts for Simon apparently. He broke into a small grin, his own face a bright red, unsure of what Chicago was thinking. "Hey, hey, you're all good," he managed, quickly realizing the senior was a bundle of nerves. It was probably just a mistake, the kiss, anyways. It was probably just some affectionate thing in his family.

Simon felt himself hold his breath as the older boy neared him, eyes widening when he realized what the other was talking about. He kept his posture carefully relaxed against the wall, but his eyes were rapt, attentive, waiting for any movement, any hint that Chicago was joking. It had happened before, he didn't want that happening again. "...confused? Confused about what?" He asked, voice shaking slightly, a small blush covering his face. For once his entire body was stilled, the only hint that he was fully immersed in the conversation. Usually some part of him was moving, typically it was his fingers running across his arms, or his foot tapping lightly against the ground. He felt the same way, honestly, but didn't voice that, not until he knew for sure Chicago was serious. He felt an odd connection with Chicago, able to understand what he was able to say.

Rosa smiled back. "You think so?", she asked. "Ok. I'll do that then." She preferred painting over other art forms, though she wasn't as good at it as she was drawing. It was far more therapeutic. Printmaking on the other hand, was the exact opposite. Evan grabbed her canvas and began working on her semester project. It was coming along nicely, everything was starting to get into place. The work was of a woman wearing a huge dark floppy hat covering half of her face smoking what looked like a flower. She loved painting symbolistic work to make people think, even adding in random objects sometimes just to make her viewers ponder why they were there in the first place. As Rosa continued her work, she knew the last class was nearing it's end. She worked furiously, attempting to fix the flowers and what she would call a turtle. But she couldn't help but notice the new project that her acquaintance had pulled out. I don't know why I keep taking an interest in her work when I should be focusing on my own. Maybe it was jealousy, or her need to think about something else other than stressing over her own work for a change. Or maybe it was both. "Hey, that's pretty cool!", she ended up blurting out after seeing Evan's canvas. "Going for the abstract, huh?"

Simon blinked, a little shocked that someone just admitted to liking him, someone who he was interested in as well. He hesitated, shaking out of his surprised stupor and shooting a hand forward, grabbing Chicago gently by the wrist and pulling him back. His face was red as he closed the distance between them, their noses just close enough to brush up against each other. "Lemme speak before you walk off, yeah?" Simon said, his voice softer as his studied the others face carefully, noticing that the excitement had faded from his features. He reached his other hand forward hesitantly, brushing a strand of hair out of his face. "Cuz I-uh, I feel the same way- excited and nervous at the same time, and you calm me," he said quietly, a small smile touching his features. "It's been a day, but my thoughts are slower around you, it's possible, y'know," he added, feeling shy all of a sudden at admitting it.

"I see...I suppose it's all up to the interpreter then?" Rosa said, her voice dropping again. She got the feeling that she was probably being annoying....again. She had those feelings a lot, and she never knew if she actually was being annoying or if her antagonism was all in her head. Either way, it was better to be safe than sorry, so she turned away to her standing canvas and gathered her paint brushes, then took them to the sink to wash them.

Simon let out a soft, breathy laugh at that, unable to believe that he met someone who seemed to be so similar to himself, and someone who actually... was interested in him for the sake of himself, not because of his brother, or they pitied him. He definitely never felt this way towards someone else, how much he trusted Chicago right off the bat. His face crinkled into a smile, even the bruise from earlier didn't seem to hamper it, eyes glittering happily from behind his glasses at the thought of the two of them... whatever they were. At least they made their attractions clear, and he liked that, even though they weren't anything yet. Just two friends who wanted to be something more, but Simon could deal with that. " I feel the same way- this feeling, it's weird but it's a good weird, one that makes me feel... excited? I think that's he word for it, and I like it a lot. I haven't felt that before, and it's exciting and I'm happy that the feelings for you," he admitted, careful not to close the gap between them. He'd let Chicago make that move.

Rosa laughed as well, a little nervously, though she really did understand what Evan meant. As she lightly dabbed her brushes into the swirling water in the sink, she asked, "What would the plot be for the woman smoking a flower then?" She knew that Evan had mentioned The Scarlet Letter earlier, but Rosa had never read the book, and knew that if her painting represented that then she would never get the reference.

Chicago nodded and listened to his new...well, whatever you call it thr they had, intently. "I honestly can't believe how quickly it all happened. But I'm glad to be wherever we are right now together." His smile was wider than it had been in a long time, genuine happiness showing through his eyes. Just as he couldn't hold back much longer and began to close the gap between them, the bell rang which snapped the raven haired boy out of his trance. He cursed loudly and moved away from Simon quickly just as people began flooding the hallways. Hardly anyone used the bathroom they were in, but there was still a risk that he didn't want to take. "Hey...uh... Do you need a ride home?" He asked nonchalantly, grabbing his things and walking slowly toward the exit of the bathrooms. The expression on Chicago's face made it obvious that he wasn't really asking a question, but was more or less saying that he wanted to give him a ride so they could talk more, be together more.
Evan smiled. She loved explaining her complete paintings. "Well, there isn't much expression on the hal of her face we can see, right?" She pointed to the blank eyes and down-turned mouth. "She's covering her face with a hat, which symbolizes her facade. The face we can see is her tranced self, guided by distractors such as cigarettes or other things. The flower symbolizes happiness, but it's only temporary since plants die without proper care. The smoke is blue symbolizing her constant depression with the world around her." She continued to explain the things in the background too, like the weirdly colored scenery and things until the bell rang. "It's complicated, I know. But that's how I like my paintings to be. They make you think." With a mischevious smirk, Evan walked out of the classroom and to her final class.

Rosa stared at the painting, taking in what Evan was saying. The piece spoke to her, in a way. And Evan's explanation for it delved into her psyche. Symbolizes her facade, and the constant depression around her, huh? What was obviously such a surreal painting, ended up being more real to her than her own. It kind of hit home in a way. But before she could say anything, the bell rang, and the other girl was gone. Rosa sighed, not really knowing what to do. She had no other classes after this, so she could take off if she wanted to, but didn't really feel like going home. So instead she continued cleaning her supplies and packing up all of her things.

Simon couldn't help but smirk as Chicago jumped back, but nodded at his offer of giving him a ride. "Actually, yeah, that'd be awesome. I was just planning on walking home, but a ride would be awesome," he said, his demeanor seeming to brighten at the thought of spending more time with the senior. He looked almost shy at the thought, biting his lip for a moment in hesitantion before slipping out of the bathroom and making his way out, feeling guilty for skipping class but frankly he knew he'd be able to keep up. It was psych, after all. "Y'know, we gotta make sure if we wanna skip class we need to make sure we don't just hang out in the bathroom," he added wryly, unsure as to what Chicago wanted to do infront of their peers. The taller boy seemed more nervous in the halls again, feeling his anxiety spike at the thought of seeing Mariah or his brother, or that jerk from physics. He was really a ball of anxious energy most of the time, and all these people, all these potential threats, put him a little bit on edge.

"Yeah, me too. I really hate it, and, this is gonna sound bad but I hate missing my music classes the most. Like, it'd kill me if I missed band this hour." He chattered, trying to look less nervous, something his mother always complained about. Then he heard Chicagos soft voice and he paused, a little surprised before offering an apologetic smile as they continued, smiling when their pinkies hooked. "Sorry I'm such a fraidy cat," he managed as they neared the music hall."

Simon let out a small laugh, shaking his head in amusement at the comment of wanting to take 7 AP classes. He felt a pang as their fingers unhooked, Simon glancing over at Chicago, smiling at how happy he seemed to be. "Cya here, then," he called out before setting off into the band room, smiling at the insanity that was unfolding before him. He made his way towards the percussion section, giving the section leader a friendly hi-five as he was given his sheet music. A grin split Simons face as he saw the music- he was going to be playing the marimba, timpani, and snare, each in their own respective song. He was going to love this class.

Band was by far Simons favorite class, it seemed to fly by in mere seconds as he was constantly switching instruments, testing his sight reading abilities. God, he loved this class, it focused him, made his mind work hard. Soon he found that the class had ended, and he reluctantly set down his flute- the last ten minutes of class they had been working on pep band music. That reluctance was short lived when he realized that he'd be meeting Chicago at any moment so he lept up, flute still in hand as he slung his bag over his shoulder. He was still playing lazily when he slipped out of the classroom, glancing around as he paused, looking for the raven haired boy.
