The group was in the english riding Field 1, and it was beautiful. The jumps situated on the far side were vast, some colorful and complex, while others were more natural looking. Some were towering; huge, maybe 5, 6 feet in height. Most, though, were set up from 3 or 4 feet, with others lower at 2 feet or less. Rachel was itching to jump, to show off her skills as to how high she could go. That was why she picked her very best horse today, her champion Sapphire. She wanted to show off, as usual. Rachel grinned as Rowan arrived with her horse, remembering her from last year, a silly Dressage student who tried eventing as well, since she clearly excelled at Dressage. But Rachel now knew her as something else, having gotten gossip from around the school, as she tried to figure out who her roommate was, having simply not been okay sitting and waiting in her room- however nice it was now as she had brought in her full wardrobe, her portable makeup mirror station, her wonderful furniture and all- for the roomie to show to put her stuff. So, yeah, she had missed her. But gossip was a great thing, and she had managed to get a name out of someone. Rowan. And yes, she vaguely remembered her. "Rowan, dear! Oh my god, can you believe it?" she let out, totally a fake, snobby voice. "We're roomies!" she squealed in mock excitement, doing well to hide any animosity. Heck, she was a rich student, at least. She could have been stuck with a scholarshiper.
Jill began, as the other trainers seemed busy talking, and she wanted to jump straight in, cheerful and excited as usual. Many hadn't been here too long, either, and were still figuring things out, so she wanted to help. "Hey, guys. First, let's do an introduction, keep trying to form that circle. Looks pretty good so far!" It was sure work to keep horses facing inward in a circle- some were impatient, stomping their feet. Others threatening to kick horses beside them, pinning ears. Others were bored and simply half asleep, waiting for action. The sun going down on the horizon was beautiful, and the lights were beginning to kick on to barely shine on the field, just enough that jumps could be seen safely, and the flat area where dressage students often practiced was nearest to one of the big spotlights, so it was the most well lit. Of course, it wasn't overly often that the dressage students practiced out in this field, often preferring the sandy-dirt footing of the other ring, or the indoor arena, rather than this natural, grassy field.

{I just realized I forgot Julian XD. But yeah, that works!}
Rowan bit her lip to hold back a long sigh of exasperation. She glanced bac over her shoulder, taking in the popular student. "Are we? I should've known from all the clutter in our room!" She replied. Moon shifted her weight and waited for her rider to finish. The teenager had a slow day, and the last thing she wanted was to have a witty, fake conversation with someone who had about as much character as cardboard, which was to say she had none. "I should go. Don't fall, roomie," She told the rich girl with fake concern, a thick undertone of irritation shining through her words. Do not let them get to you, Rowan. You can't afford to get involved in drama if you want to do your best. Her mother's words echoed in her mind. With a click of her tongue and a small movement, Rowan had Moon walking off to the other side of the circle, moving between two students and allowing Moon to fidget as she wanted.
One of the last to appear, Julian and his Thoroughbred were in no hurry to join the crowd, often more late than usual. His dark brown eyes found the circle and he led Apollo to find an open spot around them. He waved at a few of his friends, but soon found one of the few empty spots was beside all the eventers. His normal charm and arrogance found its way back to him as he reverted back to his school act. Apollo shook his mane, snorting as he took in the other horses. Trying to keep the gelding from getting worked up, Julian patted his neck and murmured something in Spanish under his breath. Without any time to run since Apollo got here, he was a little agitated and eager to start moving.

(XD no worries, I figured you'd throw him in.)
Rachel gritted her teeth as Rowan managed to slip away from her, into a spot Rachel was in no position to move to, since Jill had started talking. She had just started to kick Sapphire forward to follow her roommate, recognizing the girl was blowing her off when Jill looked over to Rachel, giving a friendly 'don't test me' glare. Rachel held the reins firm to stop Sapphire as the group came to a halt, ready to begin.
Jill said in a loud voice, to reach all the students, "I would love for everyone to say their names, remind of their discipline, and their secondary and elective disciplines, too, along with their grade as we introduce ourselves! Then we have something fun planned, to get back into the spirit. We're going to do a fun jumping exercise along with the Hunter/Jumper group in a bit, since we all hang together so much, you'll need to get comfortable with them too, especailly you Stadium Jumpers and eventers," she reminded. "Rachel, why don't you go first? You seem so eager!" she announced with another smile, her horse sitting still, clearly relaxed.
Rachel fidgeted with Sapphire; of course, she in no way minded talking about herself, in fact, she loved it. But she may have just been had, and it peeved her off, honestly.

{He's fashionably late XD}
Rowan's face held a grin comparable to the Cheshire Cat when she heard Rachel's name be called. It took quite a large amount of self control to refrain from laughing at the turn of events. After turning her back on her new roommate, she was expecting something akin to retaliation, whether it was tonight or maybe a week from now. The popular girl would not forget the slight, and somehow rowan found it in herself to not care one bit. She gave Moon another pat, holding the reins in one hand and dropping her stirrups. Her horse wouldn't move an inch so long as she was left alone, and Rowan's feet just hung from the horse's sides.
Julian raised an eyebrow as he turned to look in Rachel's direction with everyone else. He chuckled at the situation, but was also genuinely curious about what everyone would say as they went around the circle. A few faces were new, and he enjoyed making friends with some of the newer students before certain rich students ruined their view on all of the richer kids. He reached up and tried to fix his hair, which was wind-blown from earlier and messier than he liked. However, it did nothing and he had to sit there and fidget while waiting for someone to speak.
{ Okay! ^(^.^)^ }

(Back!!!! Here's where my posts get ugly tho cuz I'm on my phone lol)
Rachel flashed a grin. "Well as I'm certain like, almost all of you already know, I'm Rachel! I'm one of the top eventers-" she bragged, though it was certainly true. Of course money could easily buy that title, with the best gear, horses, and training available at her disposal- "and I'm also doing Haute Exole, and trying a bit of Saddle Seat. I'm 17 and I'm Grade Three."
Jill nodded. "Thank you, Rachel. Next," she motioned to the next in the circle, to Rachel's left- Julian. Jill knew he wasn't an eventer, but did vaguely recognize him so he had been there years previously, she knew. Show jumper or dressage, or a transfer-student, one that switched disciplines, perhaps, she considered.

{Lol. I need to work on making mine look cleaner.}
Julian looked up at his name and coughed, clearing his throat. "The name's Julian. I focus on Stadium Jumping," He explained, smiling down at his gelding. He flashed a charming smile that was his signature. "But I also compete in Thoroughbred racing and Dressage too," He finished. Then he realized he forgot something. "I'm also 17 and in grade three," The boy added in, looking to his left at the next person. He touched his wrist to fix the leather bracelet wrapped around it, unable to stay still.
Rowan glanced over at Julian, assessing him. She'd seen his around as well, but she barely remembered anyone who wasn't a good friend or a major pain. She perked up at the sound of dressage, but a lot of people chose to work on it as a side discipline rather than their main one. She was mostly on her own when it came to that.

(Looks fine to me!)
The introductions passed along the circle as everyone spoke. Finally, they were finished, and just in time; the hunter/jumpers were arriving to join them.
Jamie the Hunter/Jumper Head Trainer, quickly introduced himself to the students in the other disciplines as their groups met. "We thought we would do a large group jumping exercise. Good for even you flat-work folks. You need confidence to try anything if you wish to succeed. It'll be easy though-" he assured. We'll take turns, everyone pick your own jump. Too small, it shows your lack of trust in yourself- fine, we can all work on that. Too large? You fail, and you prove yourself an overambitious fool."

A true smile appeared on Rowan's face as she watched the Hunter/Jumper trainer and the students appear. She had spent summer break working on all of her disciplines, completely ignoring any of the bribes her parents had tried to get her out and social. She glanced around at the jumps and found one that was about the height she usually worked with, hoping that Moon would be up for it. Bursts of excitement flowed through her as past lessons came to mind. She slipped her feet bac into the stirrups, starting to wait.
At the sound of jumping, Julian's nerves started to act up. He hadn't jumped Apollo as much as he would have liked over summer, but he had spent a lot of time working with him. Apollo was his champion, and so it became his name as well. "Great," he murmured, forcing a lazy smile to stick to his face. He adjusted his grip on the reins, breathing in and out as a few kids already eyed some of the larger jumps.

Flynn smiled over at Rowan, standing next to her in line. "That's a nice jump you have your eyes on-" he remarked, looking for something to say. He was bored, waiting like this. "Personally, I'm aiming another foot higher. But that's just me," he told her with his usual smirk. He had Ellie as his mount, and the calm made sat patiently, though she was bunching with energy as she saw the jumps- it was what she was bred to do, after all.
Mick blinked at the clearly energetic horse beside her. The boy on him seemed nice- not a hunter/jumper like herself. He did eventing, perhaps? She knew the group they had joined had a couple different disciplines. "He didn't get worked like this during the summer?" she asked clearly refinishing some nerves on part of the rider, and some overly excitable anticipation on part of the horse. She was friendly as she asked, not trying to be rude. Just kind.

Rowan tore her eyes away from the jump, raising an eyebrow in Flynn's direction. "Yeah, we could jump higher," She replied casually as she stroked Moon's neck. Her eyes looked over the jumps again, picking another just a bit higher. "Trying to show off, there?" She asked, the corner of her mouth turning upwards in a smile. She knew most of the people in this group by reputation, and he was no exception to that. Moon shook her head and adjusted the bit in her mouth. She wanted to jump too, desperate to show just how much her and Rowan had improved as a team.
Julian tensed, turning his head to look at who spoke. He gave a nervous chuckle. "Not really," He admitted. The question took him by surprise. I need to get better at hiding what I'm feeling. He made a mental note to work on it over the school year. Apollo shifted and stepped to the side, moving in his spot. "Estancia aún, Apollo," He told the gelding. The horse twitched an ear, the only signal he had heard. "It was a busy summer, I guess."

"Nah," Flynn responded, smirk still apparent. "Just improving my skills," he answered with a chuckle. "Are you eventing?" he asked. "I think I may have saw you some last year. I only did a couple shows with them, though." He knew he recognized her.
"Is he a racing Thoroughbred?" Mick asked politely, just curious from the anxiousness, the tenseness of the horse. He seemed hyper in the moment, ready to race, be it on the ground or over jumps, whatever it took.

"That's my secondary," Rowan responded as she twirled the chain of her necklace. "I competed a little, but dressage is my main," She added as an afterthought. She glanced at him again, ignoring the typical smirk. "What about you? You seem like an eventer or hunter/jumper," She observed. The horse looked like it was bred and built for jumping, and was probably really expensive. Her own grey mare was listening to them talk, her ears turned toward them as much as the horse could manage.
"Yeah, he is. Racing and Stadium, actually," Julian gave up the info pretty easily, his nerves starting to ease. Apollo watched the other horses with bold eyes, just waiting for a signal from his rider to jump into action. "He's anxious," the boy explained with a smile. He rested a hand on the horse's shoulder, trying to keep him calm. "Are you a jumper?"

"Totally a Hunter/Jumper," Flynn responded. "I'm best at Hunting, but I'm really getting into Jumpers a lot, especially since I'm starting to love Eventing. It's different. Got a new special horse to help me compete in it more this year, when I can," he remarked. "Hey, mine and Ellie's turn. Catch you on the other side!" he called behind his shoulder as he immediately kicked Ellie into a start-off canter, curving towards the jump he had in mind. It was a large, yellow and purple oxer, standing 4'3". Clearly at the higher end of his ability, but, yes, he was showing off. And nothing Ellie couldn't sail over with ease, which is exactly what the high-priced champion did, flowing like a graceful wind, despite not receiving the best, 100% lead to the jump, completing a flying lead change as she approached, partially on her own, as Flynn was too focused to alert her and request it.
"Hunter/Jumper," Mick answered kindly. "I prefer Hunter and Eq, though. The more slow-paced riding, honestly," she admitted. She wasn't the best in the Jumpers, though of course she did as she was asked. "I think I saw you around some last year. I guess we just didn't meet up much, huh?" she offered as they waited, smiling very gently.

Rowan gave a shake of her head and chuckled, waiting for her turn with her Shining Moon. The dutch warmblood was quite excited, and Rowan mirrored it with her own. She had been looking at a jump that was about 3'8". She had jumped that consistently throughout the summer, and she had nothing to prove to anyone. She watched him and his horse, silently assessing the position and control. Quit being a judge. She scolded herself. It was a habit to judge other's riding as if it were a show and give a score.
"Yeah, maybe," Julian answered with a smile of his own. "Hunter and Eq are great too; Apollo and I just do better with speed," He looked out at the other riders before he blinked, turning back toward her. "So, what's your name? Maybe we didn't really meet last year, but this year's a start."

Ryan was huffing as they made their way back to the main campus after their game of 'chicken' on the trails. Shiz they were late! Angel may even kill them, if they didn't get back stat..."Think we missed dinner. You hungry?" he asked gently, feeling sort of bad. Sure, he didn't often eat, but that didn't mean a pretty girl like Scarlette didn't need some nourishment.
Mick smiled, introducing herself. "I'm Mickey. I, uh, usually go by Mick, though," she mentioned, looking down at the ground, embarrassed while at the same time excited. This was a great year so far! She had a great roommate, Tess, Julian seemed nice, and then there was Mason...She shivered. "Yeah, another long, fun year," she let out, feeling nervous all over again, after everything the Head Mistress had said...yikes.
Flynn turned after he and Ellie completed the jump, grinning. "Your turn!" he yelled out for Rowan, obviously uncaring if he distracted anyone else, or alerted them to his or her presence. He wasn't the type to care. He smiled as he watched her prepare for her own jump with her nice looking horse, Moon.

Julian's smile faded a little, replaced by a slight frown. "It's gonna be stressful, isn't it?" He asked rhetorically. "I'm Julian. Nice to meet you, Mick," He greeted kindly. He noted that she seemed to be a little nervous and embarrassed, and he knew how that felt. He closed his mouth, his lips pressed in a thin line as he thought of something to say. He didn't talk all that often, and a summer on his own put him way out of practice.
Rowan adjusted her hold on the reins and nodded to Flynn, squeezing Moon's sides to get her at a trot. The Dutch Warmblood had a smooth gait, and a fairly smooth transition to a canter as Rowan took her around the outer part of the jumps to line up. She pushed her heels down and kept her back straight, looking past her horse at the 3'8" rails painted bright red and white. The horse turned, keeping to the correct lead as they cantered toward the jump. Rowan counted out the strides before Moon pushed herself up and over, landing on the other side with ease. "Good girl," She said happily as the pair slowed to a trot and joined the others once more. Practice definitely paid off.

Flynn grinned as Rowan rode Moon over back in his direction. "Smooth and flowing," he told her with his familiar smirk, completely honest, though it may sometimes seem sarcastic. "You sure you don't want to switch to eventing, or hunters? You could totally win," he remarked with a chuckle. He wanted to see some of her flatwork now, honestly.
Mick smiled as she began to kick her horse, Bogo, into a rough trot, as the horse was almost fast asleep, bored. "Great to meet you too," she mentioned as she headed for her jump- a simple, 2'9" vertical, very plain and simple; she wasn't the type to show off, and while she technically could jump higher easily enough, there was no need to push it. Bogo had just arrived with her that day. Besides, this was what she would likely be showing at, maybe about 3' or so.

Rowan laughed, tugging on the reins to stop Moon. "Hm, I don't know. Someone needs to stay in dressage and show how good we are," She told him jokingly. She moved her bangs out of her eyes and ran her fingers through a tangle in Moon's mane. "Of course it was smooth. We don't do anything but our best. Nice job, by the way," She complimented. Moon snorted and flicked her long tail, happier after that jump. "Do you do anything other than smirk?"
Julian smiled once more, settling Apollo to watch the others jump. He could hear a few people being louder than normal, but it was to be expected. At least his horse was familiar with sounds and didn't spook like a green horse. He kept an eye on Mick and her horse, nearly whistling at how they worked together. Even if it was a shorter jump, the control and position was just as important. They seemed like a good team.

Mick pulled to the side as she came off the jump, turning to watch Julian silently, who was right behind her.
Ryan shook his head. "Nah, not really. But don't hate me. I've got a pal in the kitchen, I can totally get you a plate after our group ride tonight how does that sound?" He didn't want to disappoint her.

Rowan chose to mimic him with a smirk of her own, looking his direct rather than at Rachel. "Ah, yes. We're roommates. The gossip is true," She revealed with a wave of her hand, adding some dramatic flair. She shrugged her shoulders and ran her fingers through her hair to keep it out of her face. "I'm sure that will turn out just brilliantly." She added sarcastically.
Julian's eyes rested on a 4' wall, familiar with the style of jump. He sent Apollo off at a nice controlled canter, taking a quick turn in order to line up and go over the jump without messing up, but Apollo had sped up just a heartbeat before jumping. He had narrowly avoided hitting the wall with his hoof, and Julian had to look back as they slowed to make sure he didn't knock it down.

Flynn considered that. "Well, she's far from great, but at least she does know how to have a fun time," he noted, remembering their last night together. "She'll keep you busy, for sure."

Rowan shot a look in his direction. "I'm not going to touch that comment with a fifty foot pole," The brunette replied sassily. She wasn't sure if it suggested something or not, but she had no desire to know what other people were up to. "I'm sure she will. Busy trying not to burst into flames," She added, sarcasm oozing from her words. She was starting to become a little tired, and sarcasm came much easier when she was like that.
Julian walked Apollo over and nodded. "Thanks, and he sure is. Bet he could take on Sonic any day," He joked lamely. It was a stretch, but he wasn't great at conversation and he was trying his best. "Your jump was really good too."
