of course!! I love nonhuman character interacting with human characters, it's a real weakness of mine when it comes to stories. And we're going to have Airvanta flipping around too, so that'll be an interesting sdynamic between the predator-prey characters ~ )

(Oh sick, that looks awesome! ^_^) Ralif had never been a man to be rattled by much, one couldn't afford to be if they had so chosen his line of work. No soldier or guard dog had ever caused him to fright, and the eerie scratching of wood from sea monsters wasn't having much luck either. In fact, he was so bold as to wonder how a mermaid might taste if roasted over a fire with a touch of salt. A grin unrolled under his mask as he thought of that, a delicacy so rare that not even a blue blood could've claimed to have partaken. That's all he really wanted in life after all, to be the best, and money was his chosen tool to do so. Hence why he'd joined up with this crew. He looked up, one good eye looking around the hold of the ship as he swore he heard something far too human to be a mermaid, though his hand went to the gold-inlaid handle of his revolver nonetheless. Chances were not something he much cared for.

[ This is awful cause I'm in a hurry, sorry! ]
Airavata whipped her tail at the already wounded abdomen of one sister, earning her a hiss of pain as the darker mermaid recoiled. Aira met her narrowed eyes with her own blue determined ones and it didn't take long for the creature to turn away. One mermaid down, one to go. But this next one wasn't hurt, she'd be harder to fight off. In one quick movement, Aira wound herself around the drowning sailor, covering him as completely as she could as she bared sharp tiger-growl teeth at her competitor. If she wasn't fast, the man would run out of air. The brilliant mermaid began slowly directing her body and her prize back towards the surface as she blocked him from the grasp of the green girl. White hair floated out like a thundercloud, the moonlight catching on the strands lighting it up almost blindingly despite the darkness around them. She was an unnerving sight, even to her own kind, and it was obvious to her that the other mermaid was already beginning to doubt herself. It became less of a tangle of arms and teeth and fingers, and more of a stare down.
Bullets lashed through the water around the two fighting kin, startling both creatures. Aira was close to the surface and an easy target, but her body blocked the man from the stray lead that pierced the salt around them. Letting out an ugly screech of anger, the other mermaid whipped around, swimming deeper to save herself. It was just Aira and the sailor, and with one last flip of her fin she propelled the two of them back into the open air, her arms wrapped protectively around him as she helped him float so he could breathe. She studied his face with big blue eyes, tail waving lazily underneath the waves to keep them both afloat.

Large black spaces filled his vision as he desperately reached for the knife he kept in his boot, but his body was low on oxygen and in no mood whatsoever to cooperate for his survival. Xavier saw bright flashes of silver each time he clawed for consciousness until that silver wrapped around him. Instinctually he thought it was a protective gesture, but realistically he reminded himself he was going to be eaten. That sucked. He would have preferred being shot down in a hail of bullets or a knife wound over having his body torn apart by crazy fish, but at this point he was going to drown before that. Suddenly he felt the cool night air on his face and he blinked hazily for a moment before he realized he must still be alive. He gasped for air desperate to fill his screaming lungs, but he was still choking on water so he would suck in breathe then cough some more. He realized he was not floating and that someone strong was actually holding him, he glanced behind him to see a mermaid holding him and his golden eyes went wider. He wasn't sure if the white mermaid had saved him from her kind or was selfish and liked to play with her food.
(You're wasn't lame Bea! Mine is though lol)

Chances were not something he much cared for. I figure I can use one of my characters since I have Kain and Camilla!) Camilla sat up nervously, she was a brave girl, but she happened to like the people on the deck and she was worried for their well being. Mermaids were vicious, but they were also smart and the rocking of the boat signified to her that their friends were in trouble. "Hmph." Camilla let a frustrated breath out as she pulled her pillow to hold to her chest. "I can't stand just sitting down here. I know they said to stay here, but what if they need our help." She complained, her green eyes fixed on the door. She was well aware that Sonal, ever sensible, would keep them from checking on Whetu and Xavier. She knew Coran probably cared, but she wasn't sure Kain did since he was turned on his side, his back to them. She doubted he was asleep though, vampires didn't sleep.

(Awesome!)
Ralif heard the ship's doctor muttering to herself, and decided to make his presence known. "Then I may very well suppose that they should've chosen their directions better." Ralif shrugged a bit, his voice quiet and slightly muffled behind the mask he never took off, though he had quite the posh accent for a low-born Whayavanian. He really didn't want to wake anyone else, he wasn't impolite, gods forbid. How could one hope to attain a lofty status without basic etiquette, after all? "Don't get me wrong, I do so hope they turn out alright." He was far from being cold, it was just that he perhaps erred too much on the side of sensibility for most people's tastes. "Besides, the more people up there who don't know how to handle themselves," His good eye looked pointedly at Camilla, "The more trouble could be caused."

Airavata held the man delicately, long arms wrapped under his and holding him protectively against her bare chest. He coughed the salt water from his lungs, breathing raggedly, and her face lit up, silver skin aglow, when he turned his gaze to her. His eyes looked golden, especially against her silver, and she couldn't help but give a delighted grin. He was a curious thing, she was sure now she'd done right to save him. And by "right" she meant, this was going to be a good story to entertain her mind. "You survive!" Her voice was light and flowy and soft, an attractive accent lacing her words. "You survive," she repeated again, even quieter. She looked truly happy so see him alive and breathing as they bobbed in the cold waves, her warm body pressed up against his.

It was one of those nights, wasn't it? Just another one of those nights, Whetu decided, leaning over the railing of the ship. She couldn't believe her eyes, just kept on blinking down at the water in astonishment, "This is not happening." She muttered to no one in particular, unable to take her gaze off of Xavier and the white mermaid. She had him wrapped in a, dare she say it, protective hold, and he was very much alive, spluttering and gasping. And the mermaid was smiling. Was she going to eat him above water? Did mermaids even do that? Something in her mind snapped and she realised she didn't care because right now, Xavier had a chance of not getting eaten, and that was good enough for her. Grabbing the coil of rope that was stationed at various points of the ship, she tossed one end over, "Grab on!" She called, before reloading her gun again. She didn't know if this mermaid was friend or foe, but she was going to be ready for either.

Camilla narrowed her eyes slightly as Ralif spoke, she couldn't decide if she liked him yet and he was suspicious to her because she couldn't see his full face. "Oh they should have? That's your captain up there you know." She crossed her arms over her chest in frustration. She had no trouble waking the others up if they were asleep, they should be awake with such commotion and the danger their friends were in. If anyone had a problem with it they could take it up with her and have fun finding a new person to treat their wounds. Camilla didn't care much for etiquette, she got by with a pretty face and curves and when that failed she had her medical skills. She wouldn't apologize for being loud or herself and she certainly wouldn't tone down her worry for those above deck. "I know how to handle myself just fine thank you." She pouted, but was secretly glad to have someone up sharing her concerns.

(Thank you so much!)
Ralif rolled his one good eye at her, the other obscured behind an eyepatch that was every bit as concealing as the black mask on his face. "Really? The lady giving orders and who owns the ship is the captain? Ah, I see now why you're the doctor. Unmatchable wit you have up there in your big brain." He thunked his own noggin a few times for emphasis, mocking her. His gaze did, however, soften when she mentioned being able to take care of herself. "My sincerest of apologies." This time his voice was free of sarcasm. "I'm sure you do in most situations, but monsters from the deep do not fall into that realm, if you'll pardon the assumption." The sharp retort of gunshots echoed through the hold, distant hissing and screeching in the water following soon after. "If you are so concerned, I will accompany you to the deck to check on them, but we go no further. I'm not about to lose limb this early on, not until the reward is certain." His offer was dual purpose, as he did wish to make sure that their adventure was not to end so premature and having the ship's doctor indebted to him would be rather... ideal should anything happen.

Xavier watched the mermaid with wide eyes, his mouth open slightly in shock from being saved by her and the extreme cold of the water. He appreciated the rescue but wasn't sure if she could be trusted for real and just wanted to get out of the freezing water full of mermaids. The splash of a rope nearby made him jump and he looked up to see Whetu, relief washed over him and he reached desperately for the rope, he gripped it tightly and tied it around his hand. "P-pull me up!" He called, his teeth chattering. He was badly shaken, more so than he'd like to admit, and felt strangely safe with this particular mermaid which made him uncomfortable.
Camilla's mouth opened slightly in surprise as Ralif mocked her casually. Obviously he had another thing coming if he thought he could talk to her like that. Her cheeks flushed with anger and frustration, who was he to belittle her like that? "You better be careful how you talk to me, I'm not going to put up with your condescending attitude you know. Maybe when I go to stitch you up some day you'll find a kidney mysteriously missing. Those make big money on black market you know." She said and glanced from her nails up at him with an innocent bat of her long black lashes. She appreciated his change in tone as he offered to accompany her up, but she wasn't one to let people off the hook for disrespecting her. "I'll be fine here, thank you. I'm sure they'll be down soon."

that's acc what I was thinking along the lines of Win ^^ It would make sense, since the first mate should be someone she trusts. I'm honestly a little torn between Kain and Xavier, because Kain will get a tough job done, no questions asked, and is good at scaring people, but Xavier is probably more trustworthy to her, and gets on better with the others. Plus I love their bromance, lol they're the death squad)
I'll add your new characters now c; )
Whetu huffed and tugged on the rope, her strong legs coming in handy. Xaiver was tall and built, and while that was ideal in a a shipmate, but right now, she kinda of wished he was built more like Coran. Still, she thanked her stars it wasn't Sonal who'd fallen in, because then she would be trouble. It'd be like pulling a carriage out of a swamp. "The gods smile on you alright, Xavier!" She called, gradually making her way along the rope, "Are you sure you're not dead? Did that mermaid take a bit out of anything vital?" The strange pale creature flashed in her mine again, she'd never seen a mermaid up close before, but she was pretty sure they were usually darker then that, to blend into their aqua surroundings.

(Awesome, thanks Sappho! And yeah, for sure.)
Ralif's eyebrow raised in curiosity at Camilla tilting his head at the girl to study her further. "You know what would sell for a sum far beyond a kidney on the black market?" Ever so subtly his arm, once folded across his chest, dropped down to rest on the handle of his revolver. Just a precaution in case, well, someone, decided to act rashly. "One very attractive, young, ship's doctor." He glanced away from her casually, as if he didn't care for what he'd just said. In truth he didn't and slavery was so beneath him, but he didn't take kindly to being challenged either. "But vague threats are so unbecoming, wouldn't you say? Now, do you wish to venture up top or are you content to stay here in what I assume is some pitiful attempt to get back at me for what I said?"
