Sol | Lodge - outside | ®Hawkpath® | “You already said that,” pointed out Sol flatly, turning and brushing her hand against the side of the building as she began to walk along it. He seemed nice enough. By that she meant he hadn’t tried to put a knife through her skull yet. “Anyway, I don’t wanna freeze to death, so I’m going inside,” she said, grabbing onto the corner of the wall and swinging herself around. “Are you coming?”

| Eurydice | Lodge | Eurydice had been running down the hallway, looking for the way out of the house. She opened a hallway door and went through, stepping into another room. It was rustic looking, with log walls. And windows! It looked like her gamble had paid off and she'd found the outside route. However, the lodge was filled with various people. Glancing behind her, she saw that the door she'd come through had already disappeared. No going back now. A man and a girl by the fireplace, a pair of people running by the staircase, others talking with each other. In the center of the room there seemed to be the most people- and those who seemed the most out of place, caught off guard like her. She skirted the center of the room, taking careful precise steps towards the door. Except it looked very, very cold out there. And the lodge was warm. She paused, taking in the drifts of snow outside. Well... maybe she should stick around for a bit. Turning back to the group, she took in the sight of the other unsure blinkers.

Zuko tensed at the sudden appearance of others near him. He was never going to get used to that. He watched as the blond-haired boy stood up, gaze quickly sweeping over his clothes. Not the Avatar, probably, and not familiar. That was the nature of spirits, though. He tensed, staring at the boy like he expected him to attack. Would fire bending work against a spirit? Was the boy even a spirit? He looked human, but so did everyone here. That one girl had looked human after she’d put away her tentacles, so maybe looking human didn’t mean one actually was human. He swallowed, glancing at the two girls who were coming nearer. He hesitated, trying to keep his eyes on everyone all at once – it was difficult, given how many people there were here now. Fortunately, the only one who looked aggressive was the boy. But… the one girl was dressed in yellow, and yellow was an air nation color, wasn’t it? He felt his back against the wall, overwhelmed by the feeling that he’d managed to corner himself unintentionally.

| Loki | Lodge, upstairs with Myrnin | Minorly a time warp catch up post | The knife had impaled itself in the wall (luckily before too many of the others started blinking in) and disappeared, reveling that it had been nothing more than an illusion. But the fact that Myrnin had dodged it impressed them- they'd been aiming to strike. Good, it kept things from being too boring. And it cemented the fact that Loki very much wanted to be an ally of Myrnin. (They didn't say friend. That sounded lame.) Looking up at Myrnin on the second floor, Loki bounded up the stairs, keen on seeing a different part of the lodge. "Ever been to this part of the Lodge before?"

Sasha stayed where he was, trying hard to keep track of everyone at the same time. He felt exposed, vulnerable, surrounded. Maybe he should attack first, like he was being trained to do, like everyone kept telling him to. Attack first. Don’t let them get the jump on you. There were too many though. And he didn’t have his blink down. Too many people. Too many people. They were everywhere. “Back off.” He snapped, straightening up and fixing them all with a glare. He hoped they couldn’t see how he was shaking. “Back away, right now.”

Daud | Lodge | Rue Daud held propped the sword on his knee after she took the file, positioning it so she could more easily give it a shot. "Almost," he said after she tried. "You want to angle it more like this so that it catches the edge instead of just the flat of the blade." He shifted her hand slightly to the correct position, then nodded. "Try again." -- Rex | Outside the lodge | Hyacin "The Force is like magic," Rex said vaguely. He really didn't understand that stuff. It was way too far above his pay grade. "And the Jedi are the ones who can use it. I don't... think they have special eyes." They sure did seem to be able to see stuff others couldn't though, so who even knew. His eyes widened as Hyacin suggested lighting him on fire. "Absolutely not." The last thing he wanted was his armor melting and fusing to him. It was an ugly sight and something he never wanted to experience. "And yes, you do tend to go flying back when something blows up in your face." The sudden flying sensation was always fun. Not. "The Grand Army of the Republic," he said, nodding. "And my name is Rex, not Baldy." He blinked at Hyacin's admission, suddenly a bit wary. "What kind of jobs?"

Archer | Inside the Lodge | Anyone "Can't we have a normal Christmas around here?" Archer complained, his fingers raking through his orange hair as he blinked into the lodge. Seriously, what does lucha libre have to do with Chri––his thoughts came to a sudden halt when he realized that he was no longer in Chaldea. Instead, he was in a rather crowded, bustling lodge...and were those kids over there about to duke it out? An exasperated groan left his lips, and he massaged his temples. Can't he get a break for once?

Kelsier shrugged. He had, in fact, already said that, but he hadn’t been sure she was paying attention. He nodded, walking after her, glancing one more time at Nico and the other boy. He wasn’t too worried about them, he knew Nico could handle himself, and he seemed to be having a good time. “Coming.” He agreed, heading for the Lodge, letting her lead the way.

Harue | Inside the Lodge | strider Cloverleaf Hawk
Harue's head tilted at the two boys, then there was another girl, one that she only now spotted in the corner of her eye. She was still as a statue. Kyubey had barely mentioned the dangers of those who were under the influence of, well, something. Foolishly she took a step forward tucking away her gem in one of the spacious pockets her stiff jacket had. "No one's forcing you to do any of this." The magical girl stated briskly to Sasha, it sounded odd for her to say it like that. Her voice was like that of a whisper, otherwise, none would pay attention to it. Besides her earlier movement there were no visible weapons on her person nor did she bear any markings of allegiance to whoever else was in the lodge. Unfortunately the same could not be said for the young man in dark armor - that did not look comfortable to wear.

Hyacin ~ Outside the Lodge ~ IceclawMr. Soldier sure was being vague. "Maybe it's like with traditional magic and mages and stuff." Hyacin said, partly to himself. "Sure blows when only one type of person can use it." The mention of special eyes again made him silently cringe. He tilted his head with a faux-innocent smile, "Aw, why not? Don't you wanna see if it can handle it? Better here than in battle, right?" He narrowed his eyes tauntingly. Rex? Hyacin furrowed his brow for just a second. This man didn't look like a king or any sort of royalty. Did he say it was his name? Not a title? "Whatever you say, Mr. Soldier Baldy. Your country's at war or something? You on the front lines?" He looked up to think, "All sorts of jobs. Find missing people, kill a drug lord or two, protect some cargo...transport goods...fight a group or three..."

Dipper | Inside the Lodge | Dusk Dipper blinked into the lower level of the lodge appearing not in his usual attire. There was somehow not a speck of dirt on him this time around. Instead, he wore a white t-shirt and red shorts, including red flippers and a silver whistle hung around his neck. It dangled there, replacing a fraction of the journal's weight now that it was not with him - a real shocker. Wrong outfit for the wrong season. Before his eyes were a few blinkers he'd never seen before in the house and it looked festive this time around. "That's weird." He said to no one but himself yet here was standing right next to Robin, when noticing the archer he offered him a shrug. "Uh, h-hey, I didn't I'd ever see you again." Dipper could briefly remember when they'd met back when those gnomes were the least of his worries.

| Eurydice | Lodge | The boy with the armor and ponytail looked intimidating, but as he backed into the wall, he really just looked like a scared kid, acting tough to keep others off his back. Eurydice could understand what that felt like. And the other kid, even younger, doing the same thing. Except he had a knife- that could get dangerous. Well, at least she wasn't alone in feeling out of her depth- the others didn't know what was going on either. The other girl spoke, and Eurydice was startled by the unexpected sound of her whisper-y voice. Eurydice added, "No one... react yet- I think we're all a little spooked.

Dipper | Inside the Lodge | Archer The young boy waited for some sort of dismissive remark. Much to his surprise, he was greeted better than expected, not that neither of them was in danger. "I'm glad you noticed." Dipper puffed his chest. That shred of a compliment fostered a starry eyed look from Dipper, even though it simmered down a second later. An immature display by all means but if it meant he was finally taller than Mabel...he'd go for it. Flipflops and all, he eventually gave up with the running joke if you could call it that. His curious gaze flickered to the circle of blinkers but this wasn't about them. Instead, he zeroed in on Archer. "I wonder if I'll ever be as tall as you?" He mused at the prospect knowing well it was unlikely but he could dream, couldn't he?

Archer | Inside the Lodge | Dipper Archer bit the insides of his cheek to stop himself from chuckling at Dipper's joy. Man, he hasn't changed one bit. Still, he was relieved to see that nothing bad has happened to the kid. "Tall as me?" Caught off-guard, he pointed at himself, his eyes widening. Crap, he wasn't used to this kind of attention from kids. "Eh, as long as you eat plenty of food and get enough exercise, I'm sure you have a decent shot." He answered after sheepishly clearing his throat.

Rue nodded, letting him adjust her hand, her eyes narrowed with concentration. She wasn’t sure why, but she was determined to get this right. Maybe she was trying to distract herself from Daud’s heartbeat. Or maybe she thought this skill might come in handy sometime. She tried again, attempting to angle it the way he’d said, then glanced at him again, checking to see how she’d done that time.

L knew most people didn’t interact with the same people he did. He knew that it was uncommon to be so aware of the worst of humanity, so aware of how bad things could be, how bad people could be. L rarely interacted with people who didn’t have any ulterior motives, and if he did, he probably didn’t realize it, because though he protected people, he didn’t trust them. Humans were worth protecting. Humans mattered, they mattered to each other, but they also just mattered...mattered. That was why he tried to stop the people who seemed bent on hurting them. He would have agreed with Orpheus that people were more than what they could offer. Of course they were, they mattered for so many other reasons. If only the people he interacted with on a daily basis shared the sentiment. Looking at Orpheus now, L believed he wasn’t afraid of the House. Was that foolish? Was it foolish to believe that he could win this? Maybe, but L’s heart wanted to believe it anyway. He shook his head. When had believing his heart ever been a good idea? He knew better than that, he knew he had to keep himself in check, he couldn’t just go believing whatever anyone told him. Would believing Orpheus could succeed really be so wrong, though? Was allowing himself to believe in someone other than himself likely to end with him being let down or betrayed? He almost let out an irritated sigh at his own frantic thoughts, but he didn’t. Instead he just watched Orpheus and nodded once. He did look forward to making more music. That had actually been fun, and he didn’t have fun very often. If his friend was willing to teach him, then he was willing to learn, even if it meant doing something he was less naturally skilled at. His comfort zone was death and violence and criminal activities and people in power. Stepping out of that was not as easy as he might have guessed it would be. He watched Orpheus, closely, as the other man spoke, and his eyes widened just a little bit. It was easy to forget how young he was, sometimes, but in that moment he actually managed to look his age for once, because Orpheus seemed so genuine and human and he found a part of him wanted to risk it. Just this once. “Yes.” He murmured, his own voice soft and thoughtful. His eyes met Orpheus’ and they didn’t flick away. “I suppose you will. I don’t often believe in people. I don’t often believe in anyone but myself, truthfully, because I at least know my own heart and I have no way of knowing anyone else’s. I may understand motives, for example, and I may follow someone’s line of reasoning, but to believe in someone...that requires more.” He hesitated. “That being said...I’m finding that I might believe in you, Orpheus. Not that I think what you’re trying to do isn’t difficult, perhaps even impossible, but then, I suppose my own aim - justice - is hardly any different. I solve cases, even though I know there will always be more waiting for me. Perhaps this is similar.” He didn’t blink. “You’re correct.” He said, nodding. “The House will likely test you and push you no matter what you do. I don’t have enough information to say whether it will be worse if you challenge the House itself, though it might be. I’ve more been focused on trying to figure the House out than I have been on trying to make it fair, but I think our goals may actually be fairly similar.” He followed Orpheus’ gaze to the cookies, and his expression brightened a little. “That does sound good.” He agreed, imagining what Orpheus had described. “I think some of our own desserts are similar, in fact.”

Sol | Lodge | ®Hawkpath® and whoever else |Sol moved along the wall of the lodge, running her fingers along the smooth wood as she went. When she hit the doorframe, she stopped, listening closely. She couldn't hear any clickers, any runners...could still be any number of things in there, though. Especially since things were all upside down and weird here. She drew her knife, gripping it carefully in her left hand, and crouched down, her right hand going to the doorknob. She opened the door as silently as possible, then knocked with one hand. As soon as she did, she moved backwards, slamming her back against the wall and listening as hard as she could for the sound of something coming for the door. If it came around the corner...she was ready.

Hange/Quincy | Museum room | ®Hawkpath® |"Really? You can tell that?" said Hange quietly, turning to regard Quincy with renewed interest. They smelled normal enough...they could hear a heartbeat, too. What was Nico able to sense that their vampire senses were missing? "I cannot tell on a physical level," they continued, still quiet mostly just because Nico was being quiet. "But you would seem to be correct. They seem to be acting oddly for a blinker..." House generated, then? Now that was an intriguing possibility. They'd been wanting to get a closer look at a House generated person for some time. - Quincy straightened up, clasping their hands together in front of them as they were addressed. "Oh, my favorite? So hard to choose, there are so many wonders here...hm...I would have to say my favorite is near the end of our tour." They winked. "I'll keep it a surprise for now."

Kelsier was aware of Nico edging towards him, which was good. If anything happened, they at least knew they could trust each other. It also meant that if he needed to start Pushing coins, he wouldn’t hit the boy on accident. He glanced at Nico, then Hange, then Quincy, and he gave a small nod. His own abilities were not much use in figuring out whether this was a House person or not, but he was inclined to think they were. It made sense, and they were definitely not acting like a blinker. So House generated it was. He “I love surprises.” He said brightly, smiling at them and dipping his head. It might have been a good idea to add a “sometimes” to that, since a lot of his surprises involved weapons, and more importantly, the very annoyed people carrying them. Still, who didn’t like a challenge? He glanced at Nico, who he was aware didn’t like surprises. Understandably. But Quincy seemed friendly, and Kelsier was confident they could handle anything this room threw at them.

“Yeah,” Nico replied, shrugging. “I can see how alive things are, and the House is good at creating things that are almost alive, but not quite.” He hoped that made sense. And that it wasn’t terribly rude to the House person who was being exceedingly polite. Or, rather, that they hadn’t heard it. “Thanks,” Nico deadpanned, glaring at Kelsier for a moment. “Now it’s definitely not going to be a pleasant surprise.” He crossed his arms, looking between the three others. If there was some sort of tour… well, either it was an actual tour and it was going to be fascinating, or it was a trap. If it was a trap, it was probably better that the three of them who weren’t House-people stuck together. Still… part of him wanted to trust Quincy. They seemed nice enough, and they seemed eager to take them on the tour. Hopefully, following Quincy wouldn’t backfire on them. Knowing the House, however… it definitely was going to.

“I am back!” Zuko snapped, eyes narrowing at the kid. He could feel his back up against the wall, if the kid was going to attack unless they backed up, there was literally nowhere else for Zuko to go. He just had to hope that if the kid attacked, he wasn’t a fire bender, or if he was, he wasn’t a good one. He glanced at the others, both trying to ease the tension out of the situation. He forced his hands to relax at his side, still keeping one eye on the kid in case he decided to attack. In a normal situation, Zuko, figured, he would have attacked first. But attacking spirits didn’t seem like the brightest idea he’d ever had. He swallowed, biting his lip for just a moment before he straightened up, deciding that trying to seem like less of a threat was probably the best course of action here. The two were right. There was no real cause for a fight. Wasn’t that what Uncle Iroh always said? That he had to learn to pick his battles?

Sasha narrowed his eyes, trying to think fast. If he could make it outside, that would probably be best. He didn’t trust any of these people not to attack the moment he turned his back, and he couldn’t tell for sure how armed they were. Still, he’d rather not kill everyone if he could help it. He didn’t believe for a second that they didn’t want a fight. Maybe it was the adrenaline from his own world, but he was tempted to just attack and deal with the consequences later. That was stupid. There were too many of them. Maybe they thought they could make him trust them and then kill him later... He wasn’t going to put his weapon away. He didn’t know if he’d have time to draw it again. Still, Eurydice’s words were true, what did he have worth taking? “Where am I?” He asked finally, his voice higher than he’d intended it to be. At least it wasn’t shaking. “What kind of black magic is this?” Black magic. Like what he had. Had he somehow done this by himself? He didn’t know exactly how his abilities worked...maybe in the heat of the fight he’d done something.

He kept looking at the door and she, being the one closest to it, didn't like to think what would happen if he panicked and ran for it. That kid from her first blink, Crutchie, had briefly named this place, and bandana boy- er, Orpheus, had explained it a bit more- how there were all sorts of rooms. She worried her coat sleeve between her fingers, crossing her arms in front of herself defensively.

Harue grappled with the reality this boy had a knife and not once did she feel threatened. Maybe she should ask a few more questions about the contract but something told her she would be thinking of other things. Sasha did ask a question, one she was not pleased to ask. She frowned but her attention stolen by the girl in dark clothing, turning around she noticed that there were more people. More people led to more variables leaving her to tense up, the collar of her jacket popped out. "Why would it be called that?" Yes, such an odd name.
One person with a blade was easy to deal with, but dealing with a crowd would be boring. Well, they had some life in their eyes which contradicted what she knew. Sasha and armor boy might know, the former's high pitched voice reminded her some people still knew about magic. A shame he wouldn't be alive to hear the truth if he wasn't careful.

Orpheus watched Λ for a long moment, taking another cookie. It had a different texture than the others, and he found himself breaking it apart to take a slow bite. That more than anything tasted like something he had before – it was possible he’d had all of the ingredients separately this time, albeit not combined into one baked good. He didn’t stop paying attention to Λ as he ate, however. What he heard from his friend surprised him. Not the part about it being difficult to believe in people, that seemed to line up not only with Λ’s worldview, but also with how he had to comport himself in order to survive in a world that seemed set on tearing him down. That was, after all, the impression Orpheus got of Λ’s world. Or of any world, for that matter. There were people who tried to stop people from doing bad things, and those people ended up as targets. Usually, though, they were pretty good at staying alive in spite of that. Good, as Orpheus had noticed, tended to prevail. Or perhaps he was just naïve about that, he considered, mind wandering to the crew he had ended up with He had signed on believing that the crew of the Argo was full of good men – heroes, all of them. As it turned, out, hero was a relative term. They had done everything the legends said they had, only they were big and mean and thought they were better than everyone else. Perhaps that was why they had stayed alive as long as they had. “Your belief means a lot,” he murmured softly, and it did. He would have known that even without the explanation, but with the explanation… it was all the more clear. Λ was making an exception. He was choosing to believe in Orpheus when there was no proof that Orpheus could succeed. He was choosing to believe in Orpheus when Orpheus had expected to rely solely on belief in himself. Did Λ know how much that mattered to Orpheus, having someone else who could push him forward on days when his own belief faltered? Did he know the difference it made to have someone to lean on when doubt wormed its way into Orpheus’ head, as it was wont to do sometimes? Looking at him, Orpheus doubted it. But he was grateful nonetheless. Orpheus had been given a gift, one that Λ likely didn’t comprehend the full meaning of. “Thank you,” he added, in case that hadn’t been clear enough. He gave a small smile. “For the record… I believe you’re making a difference in your world. I believe your search for justice is worth it, even if the cases never stop, because the number of bad people free in your world is decreasing, because of you.” He broke off another piece of his cookie, chewing it thoughtfully. “I think you’re right. I think it is similar.” He tilted his head, looking around at the others. There were a lot of them now that hadn’t been there when he and Λ had first entered the lodge. In trying to figure out the House, wasn’t Λ in a way trying to help the people all around them, just as Orpheus was? He blushed as his eyes fell on Eurydice, but he quickly pulled his gaze away, back towards Λ. “I can bring you some sweets, next time we dock. You… don’t have to eat them, of course, but… you can see what’s in them, if you want. See if they really are similar.”

“The Paradox House?” Zuko echoed, tilting his head as he looked at Eurydice. “This is the Spirit World.” Shouldn’t that have been obvious? You couldn’t just appear somewhere unless there was some sort of bending behind it, and the only thing that was capable of that was… well, the Avatar, but also the spirits in the Spirit World. His mother had told him about it once, when he was little. He flicked the thought away, annoyed by its intrusion now of all times. Unless… it was possible this ‘Paradox House’ was part of the Spirit World. He was curious what Black Magic was, too, but he wasn’t going to give in and ask. He had to consciously stop his hands from clenching into fists by his sides as he looked between the three, trying to keep his cool. “You’ll go home, soon,” he said, crossing his own arms. He was looking directly at Sasha. It was all he was willing to offer. Let the kid figure out the rest by himself. Let him be as lost as Zuko had been – well, as lost as he still was.

| Eurydice | Lodge | "Well, that's what someone told me." Eurydice replied dismissively- not of the other blinkers per say but just the situation. She didn't know why it was called that. And besides, who cared what it was called. Paradox House, Spirit World, whatever. It didn't matter what the place was called if she got stabbed there. Then it was just place where I got stabbed. "I noticed that too. I just... went back." Eurydice agreed with the boy in the armor. She had been so disoriented, unused to the instantly changing scenery. She took in the current scenery as the tension slowly defused- log walls, small twinkling lights strung on the staircase railing. A fireplace, and... bandana boy?? Hadn't he just? She looked towards the hallway of the lodge she'd just from, where the door had disappeared behind her. Um??

"You think you go back home." Harue was equally as dismissive of what see had been told. All this blabbering was a messy game of telephone gone plain wrong. For reassurance, she pulled out the gem she had placed inside her jacket. No signal. In her hand is held a faint shimmer, it was the same color as the gem that was on the back of her black lace bow wrapped around her waist. Whatever Eurydice was thinking, they weren't on the same wavelength. "A-anyways," She shuffled uncomfortably. "I didn't think of going back home. Not yet, not to Spirit World, which is a world of spirits?" The young girl looked up from soul gem, glancing at the fire bender as if he were the one with answers. Maybe Zuko was onto something. "I waaaaaaaanna sing with you," Myrnin whined. Then again, there was the flick, flick, flicker of a smile that he couldn't quite quench. It was hard to tell what was fueling the smile other than mirth. "Pleeeeeeeeeeese Vice?" Flicker, flicker went the smile. It was honestly hard to tell if Myrnin actually wanted Vincent to sing with him and thus turning him down would have him be disappointed or whether he was asking for the benefit of attempting to annoy the others or whether he was trying to annoy Vincent. Or all three at once. His jaw was growing stiff now, however, as was his legs. Getting a touch hard to move them. Damnit. He turned to Rue, tapped her on the shoulder, and nodded in the direction they were heading. Encouraging her on. "Saaaaaaaandalphon?" he asked after a second. "Is there any way you know to find the Lodge a bit ... faster?"
