ᴄᴇʟʟɪsᴛ (Here. It isn't the best, but I tried :'3)
"Chess is not for gambling," Kronos said simply "I like it because it teaches you to strategize." His milky eyes watched the Dragon carefully, his own gaze contemplative. "Back at the labs, one of the scientists taught me the game. And she always had a strategy that got me in the end. Separate and eliminate. Say that you're the King of the light pieces, Beckett. Tall and grand above your subjects, who will eventually throw themselves in front of you to take a strike. It is so true and near foretold, that I imagine the Rooster and your spirit friend as lean Bishops getting flattened by my Knights as they're herded away from you. The Ram and Tiger, like Rooks, will crumble under the pressure of my own brutes with a well placed hit, no matter how tough their hide is when they try to defend you. And your Rabbit is simply cannon fodder as a Pawn. And, let's not forget all those you lost in that war. Them meeting you was just like sacrificing more pieces to me to have as trophies. Now, our talk today is us truly setting up our pieces, whether you like it or not. The choice is yours on whether to put up a good fight and give me a good game."
Kronos sighed, continuing "Such a shame though. No matter what strategy you use, it will end up the same. I've got a job to complete. If you don't want to be apart of a new, better world, then so be it. At least you'll all be together in death, the praise of humans no longer giving you the strength to be immortal. Maybe if you surrender though, the humans may go easy on you. Fighting them in the state you were all in was pitiful and sad to watch. I fought them too at first, until they reminded me why I was even brought to consciousness. Why the Rat had dug up my soul container. You all would've been great to have around, because we're pretty much family. Maybe I'll keep you all as servants if you somehow survive the great cleansing coming upon us soon. After I've knocked you over on the board, Dragon."
Charlie watched the others, gaze still worried. The creature talking wasn't that little light in the center. What Beckett was talking to was all twelve Zodiac energies poisoned by who knew what, vengeful and cold in a calm form. He still believed they could reach that light though. They had to, because he didn't want to see the moments his friends were hurt and/or killed. The idea made him tremble slightly, looking down at his hands. Perhaps there was someone that could help them, but it was too risky to make any long trips, especially if they didn't quite know where to go.
~
Something was indeed watching them, hiding in the shadows of the darkened library with its giant shelves. One who didn't pay attention could think there was a a steady wind blowing, causing ancient curtains to moving back and forth from it. However, those like Te'kala, who wasn't there with them, would know better. The gentle back and forth was actually an in and out. Inhale and exhale. Breathing. Finally, when it was suggested they leave, something moved. So large that whatever it used to walk left loud, dull thuds in its wake. Turning the corner down one of the isles was a head. So large that it could eat Jay in one bite. Reddened skin, glowing amber sockets. Its head was like a ram skull, with sharp teeth instead, red skin pulled taut, and two sets of curling horns. A heartbeat didn't even pass before it lashed out with speed to shame lightning. A hand slid down the hallway, snatching Genma up like a child's toy, taking her away from Jay.
The creature's jaws opened wide, flames burning in its throat as it roared, shifting so more of its body was visible. It looked like a multi-armed, armored satyr. Red and black body that had built in armored skin, goat legs, and a sweeping tail. Spikey protrusions sprouted from its body as it bellowed again, reaching for Jay, not caring as it knocked shelves over to get closer. The beast was a creation of the government, actually. From energy taken out of Hugo while captured, which explained the vague ram-like appearance. It was corrupted though, the energy.
~
Kronos tilted his head up, eyes closing with a small smile. "And so begins the return," he said calmly "I would've liked to wait, but about a month ago, the order was given to start working on retrieving you all. Your friends are getting to meet Aries." One could hear the roar, but it was muffled and quiet, as if it were far away. Te'kala moved to go help the other two, but Kronos held up and hand, and the Rooster suddenly crumpled to the floor, as if something was forcing her down. "Don't," Kronos said "You aren't going to be able to fight. You zodiac are obsolete. Here's what will happen though. You'll surrender now, and your friends will not be harmed. And them fighting back is useless against the... new Ram." He looked over at Hugo, and smiled slightly.
Charlie suddenly changed shape, wriggling out of his clothes as a rabbit, teleporting out of view. Kronos snorted, feeling his aura vanish. Turning back to Beckett, he said "The Rabbit won't get far. It's always that way with the first move. So, what will you, Long? Pieces are moving, and the game's beginning. I must take my leave though. Yet, as usual, we'll meet again. In those white, clean walls you're so used to fearing." Turning, Kronos seemed to vanish as well, disappearing in a wisp of dark smoke. As soon as she was able, the Rooster left to go where Genma and Jay were, hearing the anger of the beast as it beared down on the Zodiac and spirit. And, when one finally noticed, the other Signs had already been nabbed. Monkey, Dog, Ox, Snake, Horse, and Boar. How, nobody was sure.

There was a muffled and quiet roar, though it was clear that whatever the source had been, it had been inhumane. “Your friends are going to meet Aries.” The words rung around Hugo’s head, lingering there, trapped. The usually calm Sign took a small step back with his hand clutching the side of his head with his eyebrows furrowed together. Something was terribly, terribly wrong.
There was a flash across his eyes, and for a moment, he could see a creature. It was large, grotesque, and indescribable. Its reddened skin seemed as if it had been burnt, and its glowing amber eyes we're wide, crazed, maddened. Sharp teeth curled against its lips. For the briefest moment, he could see the river spirit snatched in the air with all the air taken out from her lungs, and see the Tiger shout something before leaping out of the way as its hand came down, only to lunge at it. The shelves erupted with water, and the books flowed frantically like dead fish, struck up in the air by the waves. Then the vision faded, and he was left dazed, and light-headed.
“Te’kala,” the name escaped his throat sharply when he saw his fellow Sign crumple to the floor, like a weight had suddenly been dropped on her entire form. When he faced Kronos, he found that his head was buzzing, and the usual composure that he maintained was being broken down bit by bit, as if it were being forcefully torn by another force. Then, Kronos smiled, and Hugo’s back crawled with ice-tipped needles as a result.
Once Kronos had disappeared, the Dragon rose to his feet and glanced over at Hugo’s direction. And for the first time in a very long time, the Ram could see a sinister darkness he had never been able to see before in the gaze of the usually easygoing young man. “We’re going,” he said simply before vanishing, and Hugo, without complaining, followed right behind.

ᴄᴇʟʟɪsᴛ (It's okay! As long as your replies are at least five sentences, then that's good enough for me! The only problem I'd ever have is if we devolved to one liners or something :'3)
"Aries" bellowed in rage at the water erupting into view, yet his grip on Genma remained firm. He simply shook the hand holding her a few times, the arm that reached for Jay sliding back before backhanding the Tiger. Jaws opening, the flames in the beast's throat spewed forward, at the water coming in, so hot that the water it initially hit exploded into steam. The flames were moved toward Jay, but Aries' head was snapped to the side when something grabbed onto his jaw. Hooking in was Te'kala, who'd taken shape of a large, bipedal rooster, clawed hands digging into the reddened flesh after leaping up. She only had surprise for about a minute though, before one of five hands reached and grabbed her, pulling her away. The hands were so large that he was able to switch the Rooster to the hand holding Genma, so it would have more free hands.
The creature paused for a second though, sensing something familiar. He was picking up on Hugo's approaching energy. The throat flames and blazing eyes calmed to a gentle glow, like Aries was calming himself, even with the water swirling around him. Perhaps he was calmed by the energy of "another Ram." However, a voice rang out, sharp and cold as it said 'Ignore it. All of them want to hurt you. Especially him. Contain them quickly.' At that, the flames roared again, and eyes blazed, tightening his grip on Gen and Te'kala even more. Leaving Jay, the large, but lean beast turned his body toward the approaching men, heading right for them with another gaping roar, smoke spilling from his jaws like drool. Standing upright, thick and strong legs carried him toward the small entrance, hooves thudding loudly with each step. Anyone beholding Aries would see a reddened, demonized version of the Ram. Dropping into a crouch, he waited for the two Signs to show themselves.
Just like Kronos wanted, the Zodiac had been split up. Already half of them were contained and being shipped off to the same dreaded lab as before, another creation was closing in on Charlie, and the rest plus Gen were driven to Aries, who would most likely contain them. And it was their choice to do it the hard way. Kronos was waiting back at the lab most likely, waiting for whatever was to come as a result. If the original Zodiac weren't going to cooperate, then it was simply time to get over them and move on. To Zodiac that would obey. A family that Kronos could take with him to the new world he was to create. Only Charlie had been willing to help him and accept him. The other eleven? Kronos didn't give a crap about them anymore. Their pain was what he wanted now instead.

Genma only drew in a sharp breath as the hand gripping around her shook violently (to the beast it must have been light, but it felt quite horrid being the one trapped there) while Jay raised his hands with a certain rugged poise to the side to negate as much of the impact as possible when the hand rammed into his form. Everything was a mess; there were shouts that tore from the lips of the Signs as they were either beaten down or they watched, mortified, at the forms that crashed into the massive shelves. Water whirled, shelves imploded, and flames swirled aggressively.
“Te’kala — are you okay?” Breathed Genma as the Rooster was shoved into the same hand as herself so that they were crushed together. Already the lower half of her body felt numb from the grasp of the creature, and though she had tried to change into water, it didn’t seem to work. All she could do was search for Jay, who slowly rose from the dust that had exploded around the library while rubbing what looked like a smear of dust off of his cheek using the back of his gloved hand. Please don’t be killed.
Hugo didn’t know what to feel when he saw everything, especially the beast that had taken ahold his two companions. It… it almost looked like a Ram, despite the smoke that rolled down its gaping jaws as if to replicate drool. It certainly had the features that resembled certain aspects of the animal. He heard Beckett call to him before he was thrusted over to the side by the Dragon, who had pushed him out of the way before the grotesque monster had the time to reach him and inevitably destroy him.
Before he knew it, he could hear Jay’s familiar voice. “Don’t get in the way, Beckett,” he was snarling, to which Beckett only snorted with a gesture over at the creature. “We’re not going to be able to beat that thing if we’re alone. Would you like to give it a try?” Why was it that they always seemed to be so eager to bicker with each other even during a situation like this? Hugo almost sighed, though his attention had returned over to the other two. “We can argue later,” he said, interrupting the two who were glaring electricity lights in each others’ direction. “Right now, if you have any time to come up with good comebacks,” he continued as he indicated the monster with his index finger, “please focus on fighting that thing.”
The changes happened quickly, in the blink of an eye, as the form of a silver dragon emerged, who coiled into the air with Jay standing on its back. His black gloves, which had always concealed his hands, were slipped off. Hugo, on the other hand, glanced back at the monster. His eyebrows knitted together, and next to his side, his hands curled. I don’t want to fight you.

ᴄᴇʟʟɪsᴛ The glowing sockets seemed to narrow upon seeing Beckett change shape. Aries snarled at the silver animal, smoke continuing to roll from his lips. One hoof stepped forward, then the other, just as a sharp shriek of sound just about shredded its ears. In response to Genma's question of concern, the Rooster used her knuckles to plug the water spirit's ears the best she could and produced the sound. Any who were in her immediate area that weren't protected against the sound pretty much died. It of course didn't work entirely with Aries though, the monster only stumbling back, stretching his arm away as it eventually dropped the two females. As they fell, another hand swatted at them. The force was easily enough to kill them, but it missed by a hair and sent shelves flying instead. Poor Shu must be crying right now.
As if hearing Hugo's thoughts, Aries turned his large head toward the other Ram. Hurts... it hurts... help... the voice was soft and weak, almost dying before it was cut off by a pitch of sound, like a music note, and the creature snorted and roared at Hugo. As the roar tore out, it ended in sinister laughter, saying with a rusty, ragged voice "Take your last looks at this wretched world you call... home, as soon there will be nothing left of it but my family's laughter. The Shadow begins his circle soon, and the humans have no idea." Humans wouldn't, most likely, let Kronos destroy the world, even if it meant a new and better one after. It was still at the expense of every mortal on the planet. Aries turned to see who was closest to him, which was still Genma and Te'kala. Yet, they weren't his biggest problem.
You'll get what's coming to you, a voice telepathically from Aries spoke, that same sinister voice and unlike that weak plea that reached out to Hugo. You old Zodiac nurtured and protected humans when they never should've crawled up from the mud. You let them evolve into the monsters they are today, and for that you shall be punished. First, by them, then by the Shadow. As the creature spoke of what Kronos told him, his glowing sockets narrowed in hate, even though the hate was confused. Aries really was only acting on what the Shadow told him, whether it was the right view or not. There were twelve new Zodiac, as foretold in early volumes in Shu's books. Twelve soldiers to serve the thirteenth and final Sign of the Chinese Zodiac, yet they were still dispensable (they didn't know that though.) They were to punish mankind as well as protect the Shadow while he made his circles. Some of these new Signs were created out of animal spirits, like Aries, while others were taken from innocent, ancient spirits. They were all like babies in age, and actually victims of brainwashing, thus the tiny voice that tried to cry out before triggered. And as read in the books, the Rat was helping the humans control the new Signs.
With the flames roaring forth, Aries finally charged Beckett and Jay, thundering forward with horns lowered in attempt to headbutt the duo. Even the swirling water didn't cause him to slip as his hooves smashed downward with every loud step, unafraid. And just think, that there are eleven more creatures like the new Ram. Powerful, angry and, most of all, confused. Which made them even more dangerous. Shu made the claim that they were even more powerful than the original Zodiac in their glory days, but that had yet to be proven since the Chinese Zodiac hadn't fought the new Zodiac with their full power yet. Perhaps that battle would arrive soon, with all the dangers being foretold coming true.

It would be quite disappointing to cut rp ties with you. Yet it's entirely up to you, if or when you're feel like it.)
