(Sorry for poof, had my Latin tutor)
James thanked the princess as she began to change his bandages and went on to say "I'm sorry for all of this. You have to leave your brothers behind, and I've put you through a whole lot of mess. You saved my life and I got you kicked out of your home"
He wanted her to know he wasn't going to brush off what he'd done to her. Walk away with his lashes and pretend he had never been a criminal. She'd saved his life, and he wanted her to know he was grateful for that. He would never forget it.
But then he would never forget the first time he saw her. Or their first kiss. Or all the good things about their experiences. He might have got Elizabeth thrown out of her home, but James still couldn't say he regretted anything about their experiences together. If he had the chance to meet her again and go through their whole adventure one more time, he would take it. Without hesitation. Because he loved her

"It's okay," she told him as she finished wrapping him up and handed him a new shirt, "I'm glad to be rid of this place. I can't have my father breathing down my back every second if I'm to live a life worth living, am I?" She studied James' face for a moment as she finished, sighing happily before pressing a quick kiss to his stubbly cheek. "Besides, I never would have fallen for you if we hadn't gone on this crazy journey. And you," she grinned, tucking his curly hair behind his ear, "are someone worth falling for." She moved to her feet before she could get too carried away, knowing time was of the essence. She grabbed her sack and slipped it over her shoulder before helping James off the bed and down the grand staircase, pausing only to give her lady-in-waiting a hug as the couple walked swiftly to the courtyard to meet the horse her brothers had prepared. She gave each a quick kiss on the forehead and then slipped into the saddle, knowing James was still too injured to guide the horse himself. After he'd assured the former royal that he was ready, the couple left the castle gates and headed towards the village. "Hey, James?" Elizabeth asked, turning towards him, "is there any way we get to your cottage without being seen? I'd like to avoid causing a stir after yesterday's turn of events." ƤαƖƖαѕ ✧

At Elizabeth's question, James bit his lip "I think the quietest way was the way we came through to the town, when we cut through the forest. If we avoid the marketplace we should be able to remain unseen. Though I don't think you're going to be able to avoid causing a stir. People are going to wonder why you aren't in the palace anymore, after all"
As much as James had wanted to take the reins himself, his back was shredded and he was still in too much pain to be able to guide the horse. So he was very thankful that Elizabeth had taken the initiative and decided to guide the horse herself.
"About my siblings," James said after a moment "You've probably seen my sisters, maybe my brothers. They might come to visit sometimes, but I promise they're really sweet. And they won't breathe a word about you living with me. They're kind of used to keeping secrets for me. I think they'll really like you, though."

The young woman steered the horse as instructed, her heart brightening at the prospect of being safe back at James' cottage. And to meet his siblings - the thought filled her with anticipation and nervousness. "Your sisters - I think I saw them when you were arrested. They looked just like you; dark hair all the same. I'm glad you have so much faith in them," she smiled. "If they're anything like you then I have nothing to be worried about." Elizabeth's mind wandered as she thought of the care and responsibility she'd seen in James as he looked after his brothers and sisters, lighting her thought with hope. Even if she'd left a life of comfort behind, she knew that as long as she and James took care of one another that there would be nothing to disturb their happiness anymore; no laws or kings or punishments. Just the two of them, growing closer together. The two rode on until the late evening, pausing at the stream that ran past the highway to water the horse and so Elizabeth could take a look at James' back once again. She knew they would be at James' home soon, but there was no reason to push the horse or his wounded back more than they could handle. When they'd finished, they slipped back onto the horse and pressed through the dark wood with anticipation. They would be safe together, so soon. ƤαƖƖαѕ ✧

When they approached the cottage, smoke was coming out of the little chimney and the cottage was cheerfully lit up.
"It looks as if my siblings might have got here before us," James said, shaking his head as he smiled "I wasn't expecting them to be here, to be honest. They don't visit all that often. Maybe they wanted to find out what happened."
As the horse stopped he slipped off it and offered Elizabeth his hand so she could climb down herself.
"I hope you're ready to meet my siblings," James chuckled "Because you might have to sooner than anticipated"
He approached the door of the house and pushed it open to see four figures sitting around the fire. Henry, the eighteen-year-old. John, who was nineteen. And the twins, Jane and Ellen, who were twenty-one.
"James!" Henry cried, as he and his siblings got up to approach James.
"Alright, alright" James laughed as he batted his siblings away "It's good to see you. But no hugs, I got whipped and my back will hurt. I expect you all know who Elizabeth is. We're keeping her presence here quiet."

Elizabeth smiled at the siblings. "Hey," she told them tentatively, "I hope you don't mind me staying here. But I can't think of anywhere I'd rather be," she grinned, tucking her blonde hair shyly behind her ear. Her heart burned with anticipation while her thoughts ran wild. What if they thought she was here to give them more trouble? What if they thought James was too good for her? What if they thought she was a nuisance? But her mind halted when Ellen opened her mouth to speak. "You're welcome to stay with us, Highness," she told her. "We'll keep your secret; we can't thank you enough for saving James' life." Elizabeth's eyes flickered over to James as her lips curled into a grin. Little did he know just how much he had saved her from a life of heartache in a foreign castle until the day she died. She couldn't thank him enough for what he had provided for her; freedom. Freedom, she thought, and love. ƤαƖƖαѕ ✧

James gave Elizabeth a beaming smile to reassure her "Of course they're okay with it. I won't let them be not olay with it. Don't worry."
After Ellen's kind greeting to Elizabeth, James offered his sister a little smile. Jane and John quickly piped up to agree with Ellen, after which James' gaze turned to the youngest brother.
"Henry, you are okay with this, aren't you?" James asked, eyebrows furrowed in concern. He didn't think Henry would have a problem with this.
Henry hadn't said much, and looked a little overwhelmed. But his face suddenly broke out into a grin as the teenager nodded "Of course. I'm just so happy to have you back, James. I really thought we'd lost you"
James laughed, ruffling his brother's hair "You can't get rid of your brother that easily. I might just have to stick around for a while longer."

Elizabeth sighed contentedly and moved to sit beside the fire, her anxiety ebbing as she considered the new life ahead of her. She smiled as the twin sisters moved to sit beside her, and was immediately swept away in conversation with the siblings, answering their questions about her former life in the castle. They were gentle and sweet; to her it seemed that they would hardly hurt a fly, but she knew better than to believe that about anyone related to James. Jane, in her mind, seemed like the more practical and headstrong of the two, wanting to know about the politics and books and codes she had learned of, while Ellen wished to know about the gowns and princes and the lavish food. She watched from the corner of her eye as James engaged his younger brothers in conversation, the soothing sounds of quiet, friendly talk filling the home as the sky turned golden and pink in the kitchen window. As the sun began to set, James turned to his sisters "Alright, girls, stop bothering poor Elizabeth. If you want to get home before dark, you should all probably go home now. And Elizabeth has to get settled in, after all."
At this, Ellen turned to James "Oh, James, really? She was just telling us about the most beautiful dress."
James raised an eyebrow as he said dryly "If you work extra hard and save your money you can buy as many nice dresses as you want. But that won't happen if you're late for work in the morning"
With a sigh Ellen stood, pulling her twin up alongside her. The girls left, and the boys followed after saying their quick goodbyes. Peaceful silence settled over the house.
"Right, well, apologies for them. They're rather a loud bunch. Ellen's a good soul but she's a little intense. And Jane's a right curious thing. Smart as they come, of course. Anyway, you'd best put your things up in your room and get settled in"

Elizabeth grinned at James' apology. "They're sweet. Don't worry about it," she told him as she grabbed her sack and headed for the stairwell. She was grateful for the quiet that once again filled the household as it had before, when it was just she and James trying to get to know one another in the chaos of her capture. As she crept up the stairs to the second floor, she quickly put her belongings in the empty wooden drawers before heading back down to the fireplace to see her love was still seated their, watching the flames devour the logs. "James?" she asked quietly as she approached him, "what do we do now? Can you go back to work without a hitch - or was criminal activity your only source of income?" she asked, only half-joking. What would she do, now that she had no kingdom to prepare to rule? She assumed she'd have to stay hidden for a while yet before she could show her face - hopefully an unrecognizable one - to the little village again. But would she have to stay here, all alone, while James worked in the town? She wasn't so fond of the idea, but if that's what needed to happen, then it would. ƤαƖƖαѕ ✧

And you as well, if you wanted that. This is a small cottage, but it could get very lonely if you're here all day. Now I've paid for my crimes, I don't think I should have any issues finding work, thankfully. The people in the village are quite forgiving. They never viewed my siblings any differently even though I was a thief. I was really grateful for that. It allowed them to find work" He didn't want her to worry about him. He knew he would be fine. It was about her, whether she would be happy here. Whether she could get a job or show her face to her people. James just wanted to cater to Elizabeth and what she wanted. He didn't care about anything else. Or anyone else. He loved his siblings, but they didn't come close to Elizabeth in his head. Nor should they. She was the most important thing in his life. And he was truly in love with her.

The fair-haired girl sighed contentedly as James spoke to her, her fears ebbing away at the sound of his voice. She pulled him closer to her, wrapping her hand around the back of his neck and standing on her tiptoes to press a kiss to his lips, her finger tangling in his dark curls as she moved her lips against his own. "Okay," she told him once they'd broken away. "I trust you. I think I'll be okay here by myself for a little while - no need to rush into anything, eh?" she laughed softly. She knew James would keep her safe - she didn't expect anything less from him, after all - and she knew the promise of work would still her worried mind until she felt it was time to show her face to her people once again. "Let me give you some new bandages before you rest," she told him, taking his hand and guiding him up the stairwell to her room, her eyes glittering. God, she was so in love with James. She would do anything for the soul she'd found she would now call her home. ƤαƖƖαѕ ✧

He didn't feel that he deserved someone like her. "If you're sure you'll be alright alone," James replied with a soft smile "I'll talk to my brothers about jobs in the morning. I'm sure one of their bosses will hire me, even if it's only for a little bit while I look for other jobs. Don't worry. I had jobs when I was ten. I can get myself a job now and support us. Don't worry" At the offer of changing his bandages, James smiled and followed her upstairs to her room. She was so generous and sweet and caring. How did he ever end up with someone like her? It completely baffled him, and it probably would continue to baffle him every single day. "Thank you, I probably need new ones right about now actually. Don't worry, by the way, my back will be healed very soon. It'll scar up nice and quickly now it isn't bleeding anymore."

As the two settled down on the bed, Elizabeth couldn't help but notice how her heart began to race as James removed his shirt and allowed her to remove the bandages and gingerly replaced them with new ones. She felt it was her duty to take care of him, since her father had inflicted the wounds on his back. She ran her fingers gingerly along his back as she studied the marks the whip had left behind. They were looking better already, now that the bleeding had stopped; James was right about them scaring over with time. Her mind flitted to yesterday evening in her old chamber as her hands repeated the same movements as she wrapped the strips of cloth around his abdomen. Elizabeth's head spun with his scent yet again, but her lips paused on their way to meet James' neck as a thought occurred to her. It was a only few days ago that she had been on her way to giving her life to someone she'd never dreamed of loving as deeply as she'd come to love James. She felt her cheeks flush with heat as she returned to her senses and pressed her pink lips gingerly against his tanned skin. ƤαƖƖαѕ ✧

James felt himself go warm as she kissed her cheek, but he looked over his shoulder to look at her after she's done it.
"Are you alright? I heard you hesitating. Is everything okay?" James asked gently, eyebrows knitting together with concern as he did.
He was afraid that she might be missing home already or something of the like. He wasn't sure what was going on, but asking her distracted him from the tenderness of his back. And since that helped, that was what he would do
She seemed troubled, and he wanted to know the answer. He'd told her about all of his troubles and his deepest thoughts. He wanted her to be able to share her own emotions and thoughts too. That was only fair, after all.

"Goodness. Thank you." Ammiel let go of Ada's hand and dusted off his formerly immaculate tuxedo. Maybe climbing out on the roof in formal wear wasn't such a good idea. Once his bow tie had been properly straightened, he look to Ada, still embarrassed. "I um, I have a concerto. They haven't found out about me playing with the symphony because they're always doing something to observe the Sabbath, but normally I can just leave. For some reason they wanted dinner tonight. Convenient isn't it?" Ammiel's chest was still heaving, but a huge weight has been lifted off it. He could breathe again, now that he wasn't staring at the ground twenty meters below. "You...wouldn't be interested in coming along, would you? My plus one." Ammiel looked very proud of himself. "None of my family is coming, of course. They don't exactly know what's happening. If they did, it wouldn't be happening." He rested both hands on the case, biting his lip. He supposed inviting Ada out was a date, of sorts, and Ammiel had never been on one where he chose the person he went out with. This was a first for him. Of course he wouldn't be sitting with her for the majority of the concert, but afterward they could see London. Really see London. What a dreamer Ammiel was when he had the chance. (I had to put my phone away for Splash Mountain and good thing I did or I wouldn't be using it right now xD I'm soaked) [Disneyland: 2 Cobra: 0] Ada paused, biting her lip, when he asked her whether she would want to come with him and see him play. She gave a hesitant glance behind her - could she really afford to leave right now? Could she risk it? She could get fired for this, if she was caught. Finally, after a moment of thinking about it, she turned around to face him again, smiling as she brushed a lose wisp of hair behind her ear. "Okay, sure. I'd love to hear you play. And they probably won't even know I'm gone" Ada replied, her face holding something of an almost childlike excitement as she spoke. Sure, it could be considered a date, but she wasn't sure that Ammiel meant it like that, and Ada still wasn't 100% sure about how she would feel about it being a date. So for now she was happy to just be in the moment and consider it a nice outing with Ammiel. It didn't matter whether it was a date or not, so long as they both enjoyed it. That was the was Ada saw the situation, anyway. (Other than that it was great but when you get out of Disneyland the real world seems to depressing XD) "Good heavens." Ammiel let out the breath he'd been holding, feeling as though sand had been unpacked from his chest. "I was so worried you would say no." He looked back at the window, briefly, and felt the sand return, so didn't linger. Instead, he concentrated on Ada, who, for some reason, was a calming presence, at least to him. He couldn't explain it, hardly knowing her, and all, but it didn't matter. He wasn't about to look a gift horse in the mouth. "We need to find another way out. I am not trying that again." Ammiel took the maid's hand in his, thinking nothing of it. "Do you think you can take me through the staff entrance? Say I need ice, or something." Again, not exactly thinking things through. He needed to be inconspicuous, and that viola was about as conspicuous as it got. Maybe if he threw it out the window first... Full of bad ideas tonight. Ammiel hoped, if his and Ada's relationship went anywhere, she'd be smarter than him. Someone had to be, right? Mainly he was just happy a girl like her was coming to his concert. At the same time, a maid's outfit would also be rather conspicuous at the symphony. He'd have to figure something else out. Now there was something Ammiel had actually done wrong: stolen money. His parents', of course, and in his mind they owed him anyway, but that hardly made it right. £10, quite a bit of change, and they wouldn't notice it gone. That was the sort of privileged lifestyle his family lived while people slaved away for them. The whole thing was apalling.

"Honestly?" Elizabeth said quickly, sensing James' concern, "I'm a little nervous about adjusting to life with you. I don't have the same... responsibilities as I once did." She shifted her body to meet his gaze, running her thumb along his jawline. "I just worry that we'll have to go to war because I couldn't meet that other prince, I guess," she explained, shaking her head with a sigh. "But that's not my fault, is it? It's my father's; he removed me from the family. I'm just starting to come to terms with that, is all. I miss the hustle and bustle of the castle walls, watching the guard play pranks on my little brothers, the kindness of my lady-in-waiting. I won't ever find that again." I'm more excited to be living this life here with you than I am scared about not living up to the new expectations set before me," she grinned. Ada nodded "Okay. Come with me."
As they walked she moved alongside him so as to hide the instrument as best she could. As she approached the staff entrance she took off her apron so she was just left with a plain black dress. That didn't look like a maid's outfit. Nobody would notice her at the concert.
Quietly, so they wouldn't be noticed, she opened the door leading outside, heading out first and pulling Ammiel out after her.
Soon they were out in the cool night air, and the young maid allowed herself to take a deep breath, smiling with relief.
"Alright," she said after a moment, turning to Ammiel "I guess you're leading the way from here. I don't exactly know where to do."

And I certainly didn't know that I could ever be as happy as you have made me. You opened up my eyes. I love you so, so much. Please understand that." All he wanted was her happiness. Above anything else. Above even his own happiness, if need be. He didn't care. He loved her so dearly that he didn't mind sacrificing things for her. He hated that she might be unhappy here with him. All he cared about was her happiness.

Charles rested his feet on the empty chair beside him, leaning back in his own chair so he was rocking on only two of the legs. The others lifted their glasses up and he quickly moved to join them, tapping his glass against theirs in celebration. "To another successful raid!" They all called in unison, and Charles pulled his arm back and downed the drink in one quick motion. The man sitting across from him stood now, still holding his drink, and walked around the table where he was sitting, placing his arm around Charles's shoulders. "And to Mr. Charles Bristol," the man told the others, raising his glass once more, "For getting a promotion from His Excellency himself, and for being the only one of us to actually be noticed by Washington." Another cheer went around the group, and Charles lifted his empty glass once again, laughing as he shrugged the man off of him. "It's nothing," he told them, rolling his eyes as he stood. "I'm no major general. Don't go around celebrating me. However, if you do, let me go get another drink first so we can do this properly." "It's already going to his head," one of them called out, but Charles was already walking away from the table, spinning the empty glass in his hand. He weaved his way through the men and women crowded around the tavern, making his way to the back until he reached the bartender, placing the glass down on the wooden counter and motioning for it to be refilled. While he waited, given there was a considerable amount of people requesting the same, he leaned against the counter, turning around to view everyone. [ Yikes. It's super lame and super bad. I really didn't know what to start with. ]

Nancy Havenport had managed to be in the tavern for all of ten minutes before someone began picking on her. She was leaning against the wall of the tavern, having just had a drink, when a man locked eyes with her, narrowing his eyes.
"Hey, you girl. Aren't you the Havenport girl? Your father a British general, is he?" The man spat accusingly, catching the attention of the whole tavern.
It was undeniable. She had the Havenport look about her. She was about twenty-two. Tall and slim, with extremely pale skin, giving away her British heritage. She had thick dark hair, pale pink lips and light grey-blue eyes. Unmistakeably her father's daughter.
"Maybe I am. What is it to you?" The girl replied. Her voice was strong and challenging, but her nervousness was given away as she swallowed.
"It means you are a British brat probably here to gather information for your father. You're bold as brass, girl, just as arrogant as the rest of your countrymen. Go home to England, love." The man replied, his voice and demeanour aggressive as he approached the girl.

"Right. Come on." Ammiel tossed Ada a broad grin, still holding tightly to her hand, like he could lose her at any moment.
He was talented at many things, but none of them were practical or normal, by any means. Horsemanship, for example, when there was always a driver waiting to take Ammiel's family wherever they pleased. Taking off across the yard, he headed for a seemingly random tree, relieved to see, upon arrival, that his horse was still there. It was getting old now and had never technically been his, but when Ammiel's peers were off making fun of him, he found a friend in the Friesian. By now the animal was a little thinner and its mane streaked with grey. Stroking the horse's neck, he pulled a sugar cube from his pocket and whispered something in Hebrew.
Turning, Ammiel finally let go of Ada's hand. "Do you know how to ride? I never officially learned, but I'd like to think I'm reasonably good at it. Self-taught." For some reason he could not keep the smile off his face, maybe a combination of being under the stars with a pretty girl and an old friend. Being free. For the next five minutes. He was desperately close to being late, and so waited impatiently to help Ada onto the horse's back.
(I was gonna say something but I totally forgot)

The feeling of Ammiel's hand in hers made something ache in Ada's heart. But it was the most pleasant ache she'd ever experienced, she had to admit. He made her feel happy and comfortable, and she hadn't felt like that in years. Since she was a little girl, really. So this was incredible for her.
She realised her bun was coming undone and she took a moment to shake her head and let her hair come completely undone and fall loose. It certainly helped with making her look less like a maid when out in public, at least. That way they were less likely to be caught.
When Ammiel asked her if she could ride, she shook her head, blushing a little "No, I never learned. Never had to. So it looks like you'll be taking the reins tonight and I'll just sit pretty behind you. About the only thing I can do on a horse is not fall off."
