The horizon shimmered and sparkled with a brilliance unmatched by most other things in the world. Orange shifted to red, to indigo, to a dark, midnight blue. Sabit’s hooded gaze scanned the horizon with a judgmental eye, studying the palette of colors that extended across the sky as far as the eye could see. The horizon was vast, this high in the sky. The brilliant display of color was broken only by the distant smudge of civilization and the occassional wisp of cloud. It was beautiful, of course; but it was nothing she hadn’t seen. Six-thousand seven-hundred and seventy-two years she’d walked this earth, and if there was one thing that was constant, it was the rise and fall of the sun and the moon. She glanced upwards, higher into the atmosphere; there. Peeking out from behind a dusty smear of a thunder-cloud was the bright face of the moon. Once, many years ago, Sabit might’ve offered a prayer up to the moon – up to Sin, up to Nanna. God of the moon. Her eyes scanned downward towards the horizon, towards the dying sun. Shamash. Once, many years ago, Sabit would’ve prayed to the pantheon of deities, and to the god of her city – Marduk, the Wind God. That was many years ago, before she’d turned her back to the world of her birth and embraced the future. Shamash’s face slid beneath the horizon in a line of fire, and then flickered out of view. Nanna rose to prominence. The cycle was old; as old as the earth. Older than she, and it would continue after she passed.
Sabit turned her gaze forward, to the rather extravagant flat-screen TV that took up the other side of the cabin. She paid little attention to what was playing on the TV; rather, her attention was turned inward, on her destination. Caligo University. An interesting little place. Sabit had heard quite a bit about the so-called elite school, and while she’d left Pierre Kingston to his own devices for some time now, but she’d finally decided to grace the school with her presence.
Her brown eyes shifted towards the window once again, as she felt the smallest change in pressure. The plan was descending, it seemed; her servant pulled back the rich curtains that shielded Sabit from the rest of the plane and poked her head in.
“My lady,” the young woman, whose name was Lauren, said, keeping her voice gentle. Lauren knew what Sabit was; she’d been her servant for quite some time now. “We’re approaching our destination, and will be landing within twenty minutes.”
“Thank you,” Sabit responded; her voice was smooth and easy. A hint of an accent remained behind, a hearkening to a homeland that no longer existed. She lifted her right hand, bringing the glass of red wine to her lips. Though she would not get drunk, and would extract no nutritional value from the drink, Sabit still enjoyed the taste of a fine, vintage wine. The plane dipped again, but she ignored it, instead reaching forward to lift the small rectangle that served as a phone. With a swipe of her thumb, and a few miscellaneous clicks, Sabit dialed a number that she’d obtained only recently. The line rung twice, before there was a soft click announcing that her call had been answered.
“Pierre,” the voice on the other line stated, sounding annoyed and a tad breathless. Sabit smiled at that; she’d clearly interrupted something important. She didn’t much care for Pierre; he tried to make himself appear more threatening than he really was, at least to her.
“Pierre,” she purred, and she could almost hear the sharp inhalation that Pierre likely did when he heard her name. Although they’d only met once, most people – well, vampires – knew exactly who she was. “I thought I would offer you a little warning. I will be there within the hour.” With that, Sabit cut the call short. She could almost hear the string of curses that Pierre would let out upon learning of her imminent arrival.
There were few things that scared Pierre, and Sabit Aya was one of them.
Twenty minutes later, Sabit’s private plane lighted down upon the runway with little difficult. Sabit swirled the wine in her glass and took another small sip as she waited for the plane to taxi down the runway towards the private hanger. Over the years, Sabit had invested in numerous companies, and had saved up quite a substantial amount of money. As a result, Sabit enjoyed the finer things in life. The plane taxied into the hanger and came to a stop. Sabit stood, handing the glass to Lauren as the human extended her hand outward. Sabit strode past her servant, nodding to the human pilots who had exited the cockpit to watch their passenger disembark. Sabit stepped off the plane, brown eyes sweeping across the hanger to settle on the sleek car that was waiting for her. Lauren exited the plane a few seconds later, and two other humans strode forward to unload Sabit’s luggage as she slid into the car, settling in the backseat. She crossed her legs, smoothing out the invisible creases in her black slacks. A smile crept across her face, and she relaxed back for the short fifteen-minute drive. It would certainly be an interesting day. She was curious to see how the school ran; perhaps she would insert herself in the school’s running if she deemed the organization worthy of her time. Only time, and perhaps Marduk, would tell.
Pierre was in a panic. There were few things in life that scared him, and he certainly wasn’t afraid of many vampires – save one. Her name was Sabit Aya, and she would be his doom. He swore, jerking to his feet. With a roar of frustration, he swept everything off his desk. A servant knocked on the door, but the young woman made the mistake of entering the room, to check on Pierre. Rage overwhelmed him; his teeth extended, and he lunged forward. The human died in a wash of blood and pain and rage, but not even the human’s life had soothed his rage. All he’d worked for, all he’d built, would turn to dust as soon as Sabit appeared.
She was ancient, and she was doom. He picked up his phone, and made an important call. "She's here," he bit out. "She's come."

Jaxx quirked an eyebrow. While it was true that she could drop Vison on his backside faster than he could blink, he seemed relatively harmless. Still, you never knew; it was the quiet, unassuming ones you had to watch out for. She felt pressure on the back of her head and blinked, raising her right hand to resettle her hair, thinking that maybe her hair had been ruffled; the sensation was gone as quick as it appeared, and Jaxxon found that she was completely at ease around Vison. It was unusual for her, but as soon as the doubt drifted through her mind it drifted away into nothingness. The tension between Jaxxon’s shoulders faded away, and she allowed Vison to lead her out of auditorium. It didn’t even cross her mind that she’d already seen the dorms; Vison wouldn’t lead her astray, nor would he hurt her. She pulled her hair back into a loose ponytail, lifting it away from her throat almost absent-minded. The cool breeze on her neck felt nice, she decided.
“Mhm,” she agreed. It was too crowded, and when it was brought to her attention she tightened up against, tensing instinctively. She didn’t really enjoy being surrounded by a ton of people, but Vison was okay. He was safe; it wouldn’t be a terrible idea to follow after him. He’d be a good friend, a good tour guide. “So, where to first? The dorms, right?” She brushed her dark brown waves out of her face, and settled her feral-colored, green-yellow gaze on Vison.
{ sorry it's short }

Yep, the loser. Oh geez, I must have totally missed it. I've been sitting here just casually waiting for you to reply without realizing you had. So sorry!)
Vison, for the most part, was a pretty harmless guy. Sure he could be a petty little jerk sometimes but ultimately he wasn't all that dangerous. Unless of course someone thought they could steal his human, then yeah he'd get aggressive. Because obviously it was okay for him to go around stealing other people's Chosens but it wasn't okay for someone else to do the same to him. His eyes quickly flickered towards her shoulders when he noticed them relax ever so slightly and he resisted the urge to let out a noise of excitement. It seemed he was making progress and progress was a good thing. Progress meant he was one step closer to having a little human all to himself and a nice tasty meal all to himself. Heck if he knew who Jaxx was paired with, and not that he cared, he still would sneak in. It was what he did. "This way," he sang out cheerfully as he led her through the crowd, avoiding making eye contact with anyone because he was a vampire on a mission. And nothing and nobody was going to stand in his way. As she pulled her hair up, he looked over curiously before his eyes immediately fell to her throat and he absent-mindedly licked his lips, drawing in a quiet breath at the thought of sinking his fangs right into her veins.
"Aww, hey it's okay. You can relax, we'll be away from all of them soon and you'll be away from this big old crowd of people," he reassured her, offering her a gentle smile. Just stay calm, it'll be okay. I promise. I'm right here. "Mmhmm! It's always a good idea to remember where you're sleeping right?" he giggled,"imagine getting lost, it'd probably be a frightening ordeal don't you think? But don't worry, I'm here for you. I mean, I'm not your mentor or anything but maybe we can be friends? And friends help each other out, so I'll always be ready to help you out okay?" He led her outside, sticking his tongue out a bit before he felt eyes on him and he looked over at her curiously, studying her a bit before grinning. "So what are you hear to study huh? I bet it's something really cool," he mused, just a little more, he had to get a nice little stronghold some place in her mind where he wouldn't be so easily found. Like a spider he had to carefully weave his web and go undetected for fear of being discovered and exterminated. Oh he could only imagine the issues it might cause should he be found out. But it made him wonder, would it be possible to convince her that her mentor was not an okay guy? Could he mold her mind just a bit so she'd be afraid of her mentor? The idea made him giddy and excited and he gripped his scarf a bit, he'd certainly have to find out now wouldn't he? He'd never attempted such a thing! Just simply stayed in the shadows like a parasite, taking bites out of other people's Chosens and simply keeping to himself for the most part.
"Do you remember which dorm is yours? I remember when I first got here I forgot, and I wandered the halls for hours trying to remember which door was mine. So when I found it, I marked it. That way I'd never forget you know? So now it has this cute little bat like, right above the door handle so I'll know that that room is mine," he told her, looking over at her. When they arrived at the building he was quick to open the door and hold it for her, stepping aside so she could enter. He was a gentleman, a lying, sneaking man, but a gentleman at that. Glancing about to make sure nobody had followed them or seen them, he slipped in after her, humming a cheerful little tune. He wanted to sink his fangs into her throat then and there, but this was a delicate process. Like a web each strand had to be carefully placed. Place them too hastily and it would all fall apart and the spider would be left with nothing. He'd have to weave his web carefully and precisely, each strand had to fall into place exactly where he wanted it to. Otherwise this whole thing could fall apart and not only would he miss out on a meal, he'd miss out on a potential friend. And that would most definitely be a sad thing, he wanted human friends so badly. They were just so cute and vulnerable in his eyes, like kittens were. Of course, they also made great playthings. They were so fun to toy with and mess with and watch how each one reacted differently to situations. It was always so much fun. Humans could be companions and playthings! What versatile creatures they were!
