(Alright then)
Zen opened his eyes, half-expecting to see the sunlit walls of the school, but was instead greeted with a battered building. He must have dozed off again, after that exchange between Ivory and Takumi. Surprisingly, Rei was sound asleep. The crowded school halls were often noisy, so she was probably used to sleeping through chatter. He warily glanced at the owl beast outside. It seemed harmless at the moment, but they had bad luck with birds...

Nagei sat by the window, trying to see if there was anything outside that could be used or a way around the owl. The owl, however, seemed focused on something. As if it were watching prey. "Maybe something outside caught it's eye, eh?" Takumi says. "We need to find out what those beast are called or we are stuck calling them beast."

("Bagel"
gg autocorrect)
So the beasts needed a name... They certainly weren't Shadows, nor were they as strong as FOEs. Vulutail was similar to them, although the fox had only referred to the dragon-crow as a "birdie." Overall, Zen had no idea what else to call them. "'Beast' is fine for now, until we find something else."

"Alright. I guess it'll do for now." Takumi says as he looks at the owl beast. "Wonder if there are any small animals other than fish." "Before I met you guys, I saw some dogs." Nagei says, recalling a bit. "People in this world own house pets."

"In that case, there could be even more native animals. However, I wonder where these beasts come from... are they altered versions of normal animals, or something else entirely?" Zen watched the owl, which swiveled its head around. It seemed like a regular owl, but bigger. "It's like an FOE, but for creatures..." he muttered.

"Maybe there is a great evil in this land we can't see." Takumi says. "Back in my world, we fought mysterious invaders from another world. They weren't from Hoshido or Nohr. These beast could be altered by that great evil to serve it's purpose and drive it's agenda." The owl swooped down from it's perch and grabbed something off the ground. Whatever it was, it screamed loudly.

"Perhaps. It could be one of those 'gods,' although we'll probably find out at the castle," Zen replied. As the owl swooped down, he was glad they weren't the ones that were its prey. It was fascinating, really. Even these creatures had to kill to survive, much like any animal.

"That didn't sound pleasant. That sounded like a scream." Nagei says, pointing to the owl. "Do you think it has someone?" "Probably." Takumi says. "Sounded like a person... or like a dog thing. At this point, anything is possible! Back on topic, maybe one of those gods was a bad apple. They went mad and created these beast to torture the inhabitants of this world."

"That seems like something out of a myth..." Then again, Zen wasn't one to talk. He looked outside, wondering if he should go. He sighed and leaned against the wall. There wasn't any screaming now, so whoever was caught was likely dead.

Nagei decided to look outside to see what the owl had caught. She then saw the owl jerk it's head in their direction. What it had in it's claws was squirming, trying to get away. Takumi saw that it was looking at them and pointed his bow.

So they weren't dead after all. The owl beast wasn't as deadly as Zen had assumed. He fired at its wing, trying to knock it off-balance and possibly drop its prey. He could see a flame- Vulutail's, most likely- off in the distance, but its owner did nothing.

The owl beast booted and dropped what it had and flew back to its perch. Nagei went over to hear small whimpers of a dog. "Its a dog!" Nagei says, putting her hand on its head. "Poor boy. It's okay, you are safe now."

Zen lowered his crossbow, warily keeping an eye on the owl. If a dog was here, where was the owner? "Does it have a collar?" he asked. He tensed as he heard a noise behind him, but it was only Rei, who had been woken up by the dog.

"Looks like the owl took it's collar." Nagei says as the dog whimpered again. "Its okay, boy. The owl is gone." Takumi came to get a good look at the dog, still keeping his eye on that owl.

"Is he hurt?" Rei asked. Zen stepped aside to let her pass. She crouched down by the dog and felt its fur. "You have a few scratches... here you go. Life Goblet!" She cast the spell on the dog, closing its wounds from the beast's talons. "Feel better, boy?"

The dog hopped up a barked happily. Takumi couldn't help but look over the dog. "Do you think that this dog isn't native here?" Takumi asks. "He just doesn't look like he is from here."

"He could have been brought here like us! He seems really friendly... do you think he has a name?" Rei scratched behind the dog's ears, like she had done with Koromaru in the past. It felt nice to have a dog now.

"We need to call him something." Takumi says, looking the dog over. "He needs a bath to get that mud off of him." Nagei nodded, petting the dog as well.

"Hm... maybe there's a pond somewhere? Or we could go back to the lake?" Rei asked. "And I still don't know what to name him..."
"I could try to think of something," Zen offered, but Rei shook her head.
"No, your names are too hard to say. I can't even say the one you gave me!"

"Lets use the lake." Nagei says. "It'll be easy since we were just there." The dog let's out a happy bark. Takumi pats the dog on the head.

(Morning!)
"Alright, let's go!" Rei was about to run forward with the dog, but Zen held a hand out to slow her down.
"Mind the owl," he muttered, glancing at the large bird. The owl hooted, as if on cue.

Takumi points Fujin Yumi at the owl to warn it off as they make their way back to the lake. Once they got there, Nagei scooped some water into her hand and started to wash the dog off.
