Vince drew his sword and whipped around at the sound of Clarence's barking, letting out a growl of his own. This was beginning to get too tiringly troublesome for the fox, and he began to wonder how things would be now if he had just kept to himself and his mouth shut when he saw Jag beating on another villager. Maybe if he had, he'd still be working in the comforts of his shop, working on and making weapons in solitude like what he enjoyed doing, and not running around in the shadows as a wanted fugitive. Then again, had he not stepped in and stopped Jag, he wouldn't of saved a villager's life, which was something he also found some enjoyment in doing, looking out for the village folk, which was who he and his new friend were fighting for now. Sterling looked at Clarence, "Been wondering when you'd show up.." He muttered inaudibly, sitting on his haunches. He was ready to watch Vince try to slay the wolf. Clarence barked out again, "Get away from him!" After this he got into a charging stance, ready to attack this fox. He knew if he distracted him, Sterling would be able to get away and possibly to safety. The lion didn't seem like much of a threat. And at least they didn't know he was a shifter.. Yet. Jag gulped. By their stances, he could tell that this wasn't something that could be stopped by a pouch of gold. There was going to be a fight. Well if it's a fight they want.. Jag drew his lion-crested sword, gripping the heavy weapon tightly. "I've been itching for a fight, anyways!" He growled.

Surprise hit her like a lightning bolt. "Aurora," she choked out. "Fayne, is that you?" (Ah sorry I forgot to respond!) Fayne stared at Aurora with wide eyes, dumbfounded. His clear blue eyes clouded with tears. He slowly stood up from his seat and walked around the table, maintaining eye contact because he didn't dare to take his eyes off of her again. "W-when I lost you in the forest, that night we ran away.." Fayne was too choked up to keep talking. He ran to her and wrapped his arms around her. He was tall enough next to her to rest his head on top of hers. "I wondered if I'd ever see you again, Aurora." he whispered.

(Had to read that a few times because "Clare" threw me off big time XD ) Flare slowly opened his eyes. His vision was all blurry at first, but began to clear up after a minute. His heart skipped a beat when he realized he was on the ground. He rubbed a paw on his head; it felt like someone had just beat him from behind. Did I pass out? What the heck just happened? He struggled to stand up but weakly collapsed. He decided it would just be easier to give up and lay there until his strength returned. [ Lol gotta love typos ] Kaitlyn rushed over to him, muttering a quick spell of regeneration. He'd quickly feel his strength returning to him, "Don't get up too fast, you died for a minute." She murmured. She didn't feel any guilt, surprisingly, but pride. She wasn't sure the transition would work well, but it seemed to have worked well. She could feel the currently heavy cold radiating off of Flare, although he would feel normal. (Ikr? They create such amusement xD ) What? Flare contemplated this while he lay there. I...died? But Kaitlyn was able to save me. He turned his eyes up to see her standing over him, taking care of him. Or was she? Now that he thought about it, he didn't know anything about Kaitlyn. He'd met her, she'd helped him, and then he'd started learning some magic from her. But he didn't know anything about her. She could be a villian. A monster. What if I'm just her simple-minded test subject? He felt a shiver down his spine, but wasn't sure if it was from his thoughts or from whatever magic she was casting on him. No! He reprimanded himself. Kaitlyn is a good person. She's helping me. At least... I think she is.

Sterling bounded over to Jag, his heart beating rapidly. Clarence wouldn't be able to keep the innocent animal act up for long, he knew it. He bit into Jag's leg, trying to draw his attention away. Clarence barked out again, "Put that thing away! That's not your true form, fight me in your real form!" He directed at Jag. Then he noticed Sterling, "Wha- I can handle this!" He called over, forgetting to speak in his animal tongue.

Vince saw his chance, he knew he should help Jag but also knew the lion was powerful enough to handle himself, so the fox darted quickly and silently towards Clarence while the wolf was distracted. He waved his sword and slashed at Clarence, striking the side of the wolf's face with the edge of the blade, then drove it into the wolf's body in a non-vital spot, that would only be fatal if he lost too much blood, but not straight away.
"You're one 'ta talk laddie! Y'er a shifter!", Vince confronted, regarding Clarence's challenge to Jag.

Jag yowled as fangs buried into his leg. He attempted to hit Sterling with the butt of his sword, but the lion wasn't quick enough to land a good hit on him. "You want me to fight you like a common animal? Fine." He tossed his sword to the ground. A cloud of dust picked up as the sword slid across the dirt. With a deep growl, Jag allowed his claws to fully extend. He smacked a huge, clawed paw at Sterling.

He was wary of Kaitlyn, but right now he was completely at her mercy. Obediently took a step forward.

Jag was ready to pummel his foe, but he had run off to fight Vince. Jag's ears drooped, he was actually feeling the excitement of battle again. It almost made him excited enough to pick on the villagers again. But where did the other one go? Jag scanned the area and found the other guy passed out on the ground. Weak, he thought to himself. He poked Clarence with a soft finger.

The grass around him frosted over, and the air turned noticeably chilly. "I think it worked!" She began excitedly, "Try freezing something, anything," she instructed. There was only one way to find out if this was permanent, or, better yet, controllable. Freezing? That's odd. Actually quite the opposite of what I'm usually capable of. Suddenly a thought passed through his mind. Freezing. Freezing! If I can use water magic instead of fire, I'll be able to go back home! He thought about his mountaintop home and the constant snow, the tiny little igloo village and the warm firefly lanterns that the snow leopards would carry around. Flare's expression became determined. All of his past worries about Kaitlyn were pushed aside. He jumped forward assertively, landing on a patch of grass. Immediately it froze over beneath his paws.

She grinned widely, "No more fire, it's ice! Oh, unless you wouldn't want that?" She asked, realizing she hadn't really informed him the effects or changes that would occur. Still proud of this achievement, she looked to him for a response.

Did I want this? Flare wasn't all to sure. But as soon as he remembered accidentally burning down entire villages, he knew he would much rather have more control over the water element. He never wanted to hurt anyone ever again. "This is fantastic," he answered breathlessly. "I can go home!" His tail waved around happily.

She didn't want to send him away untrained, although the cold was less dangerous passively, if he was triggered emotionally strong enough, he could devastate an entire village.

Vince let go of his sword and dodged Sterling, leaping over to stand by Jag. He may not of had his sword which was left stuck in Clarence, but he was still able and ready to fight. He didn't want to take his chances in being snitched to the king, he'd already been betrayed once in the past. Sterling looked into the woods. The cave, where Kaitlyn and a Leopard were.. If he could just make it. "Sit tight, Clarence.." he murmured to his fallen comrade, and he bounded away into the woods.

Either way, Jag sat down next to Clarence and began tending his wounds. Annoying little creature, but I can't just leave him on the street like this.

"I'm not sure," Flare answered honestly. "But I'm sure the elders in my village can teach me everything I need to know, now that they won't run me out!" In the back of his mind he worried whether or not this swap was such a good idea. Kaitlyn was capable enough, but he wasn't so sure he could trust her anymore. Maybe I should leave now. Learning the basics of magic was fun, but I'm itching to get moving now anyways. "Thank you for everything you've taught me. But I think I should be going now." He bowed a low, thankful bow.

Vince was quickly losing interest in chasing Sterling since he figured they'd be found out by Saber one way or another, so he followed Jag to remove his sword from Clarence, but after hearing the wolf's remark he decided to leave it and only leaned on it with his weight which pushed it further into the wolf's body. "Keep it up lad, 'n you'll be the dead one", he shook his head with mock mercy, showing no sympathy. "What've you 'n the mutt been doin'?", he raised the question. Clarence chuckled painfully again, "Y'know, starting revolutions- That sort of thing," he said mockingly. Sterling would come back, and he knew it, it would be okay.. If he'd shifted, maybe this would have been reversed.. "Don't really- Wanna be here, fox.." He said 'fox' bitterly, yelping in pain as one of them, he didn't know, or care, did something near the wound that hurt. Probably stitching or something.

He decided to just stand watch while Clarence and Vix had their moment.

Kaitlyn nodded, "Mhm, have a safe journey. Don't want anything bad happening to you," she said, "Just remember what-" She was cut off by the frantic shouts of Sterling as he approached their range of hearing. "Clarence- It's- It's Clarence!" He was yelling, "They- They got him!" He came into full view now, panting, clearly out of breath. Kaitlyn looked at him, a concerned expression on her face. "What?" Was all she could say. Who got Clarence? And why? "What?" Flare was all set to go home, but now that he heard that his recent allies were being attacked, he was willing to stay just a bit longer to help them out. He clenched his fist tightly in anger. Normally flames would have risen from him, but instead his fist froze over with a thick layer of ice. "Let's go!" He ran toward Sterling, expecting him to lead the way. Nobody is going to harm my allies- they helped me in my time of need! And now I'm going to help them.

Sterling nodded, bounding towards the village. Kaitlyn followed close behind, of course, if Clarence was hurt they would need a healer. They made their way towards the trio, "Over there!" Sterling barked, bristling at the sight of the lion and fox. Kaitlyn ran over to Clarence despite the two 'guarding' him. She knelt down, "What did you do to him?" She asked in an urgent whisper.
