"Well, to give the short version of what's wrong..." I was casually explaining my sleep attacks to our medicine cat, trying not to look scared or worried. It was not really something I could hide very easily, given this hindered my ability to help the clan. Then I decided to answer. "You see, this was not happening until very recently. I had no reason for concern until I started falling asleep during sunhigh and waking up many hours later with no memory of how I got there and why. Not to mention, had I said anything to anyone, that might cause a scare or no one would really believe me. For the time being, deciding to come out about it was better than continuing to hide it."
Thinking about it, maybe it was time to ask about a few things. "Hey, Black, just so you know I'll be honest about anything you'd wonder about me. You're someone I can totally trust besides Owl, Berry, and Storm, right?"

( Billystorm please do not bump the thread! I will have the posts removed in the future if you do. Thanks!) Minnowheart gawked as she and Rootpaw caught up to Heatherpaw at the base of the Moonpoint. What kind of loner possessed the skills to climb the difficult mountainscape like that? Her eyes scan the surrounding area- where was Heatherpaw? "Yes, and it's far too dangerous for new apprentices to climb, so we have to stay right here" she meowed, searching the face of the Moonpoint. Her eyes caught a tuft of tabby fur against the cliffs "Heatherpaw!" She yowled, her fur standing up on end "Stay where you are! Don't move!" A fall from the height where the apprentice sat would easily leave her with serious wounds- a wrong landing on a rock could even kill her! No wonder Larkeye fretted so much over these kits, it was their first outing and they were already in mortal peril. Her frantic thoughts are cut short as a yowl pierces the air. Dawnripple and the loner had appeared into sight, farther up the rockface. The warrior had appeared to have given the loner a shove, and the orange tomcat dangled dangerously by one paw for a moment, scrabbling for a foothold. Is Dawnripple trying to kill this cat?! Minnowheart's head spun. A few moments later, Dawnripple too was looking uncertain on her paws, slipping. This was no place for a territory skirmish!

Owlshadow led the group back into camp, his tail swinging back and forth over the earth behind him. "There's no need to worry Stonestar over the health of her warriors with so much else on her plate. It's my responsibility as Deputy to take care of where warriors are stationed, so i would be the one who would need to know about your condition anyway" Owlshadow meowed as he trudged forward. As the group moved through the camp entrance, Owlshadow gave a curt nod to Blackbrook and the two of them broke off with their two charges. As the medicine cat made his way to his den, Owlshadow led Ivypaw to a secluded portion of camp, near the meeting hollow. When the two cats were out of earshot, he sat down and gazed evenly at his apprentice. "Alright, sneak. What have you heard." Ivypaw followed his mentor to the secluded portion of camp and sat down, tilting his head to one side. "I don't quite know." He replied innocently. "What was I supposed to hear?" Sure, he'd spied on Owlshadow, but the warrior hadn't noticed he was there. By Owlshadow's typical standards, the fault should be with the warrior not the apprentice. And with the question answered, Ivypaw would know what Owlshadow wanted to do about it. Of course, he wouldn't want the clan to know he was plotting to kill the leader but what about Ivypaw?

Opening his bleary eyes, Stormpaw raised his aching head from his nest as he opened his jaws in a huge yawn. Had he been asleep long? Had Lynxsoul been found yet? He sniffed the air. He couldn't smell him. Maybe they had found him and they were making their way back. Maybe Blackbrook would be with him. He hoped so. His head really hurt. When he had gone to see Blackbrook before, he hadn't been there. He had been happy at the time not having to face the scary older cat. But now... he wished he had stayed and waited. Standing up shakily, he started padding unsteadily toward the fresh kill pile. He saw a mouse there and picked it up. He didn't want to take anything to big, as he hadn't brought anything back to camp today other than the squirrel that him and Lynxsoul had caught. If only he hadn't seen that squirrel! He wouldn't have taken it back to camp and Lynxsoul and him would have gone back together. Sighing he lay down outside the Apprentice Den. He gave thanks to the Ancestors for the mouse's life and started devouring the delicious morsel. He hadn't realised how hungry he was, with his head pounding and his worries about his mentor. There wasn't nearly enough to satisfy him, but he daren't take more. Curling up in his nest and feeling better than before, he fell asleep again. Lynxsoul was a capable cat, and he was going to be fine...
...hopefully.

"I'm fine!" Dawnripple snapped though she allowed the rogue to pick her up. Growling, she takes her head and tries to get a good look at him. "Why are you helping me?"

"Interesting... Interesting." Blackbrook mumbles to himself and carefully digs through his herbs. What would help with that? What even caused that? "And you didn't hit your head or have anything happen before these episodes?" He looks at the tom, slant eyed, "And no dreams? You just wake up elsewhere?"
Something to put him into a deeper sleep, perhaps? How would he know until they tried.
His ears perk up at Lynxsoul's confession, the cat was certainly spilling his hear out today. He gives him a flattered and pleasant smile, "That makes me happy to hear that, Lynxsoul, it's always good to trust your medicine cat, as both a cat and a healer." Lynxsoul looked like they had more to say, so some prodding could do, "Is there something on your mind, Lynx? You can always trust me, whatever you say will stay with me."
~~~~
"I-I'll stay here while you go help... so you don't have to worry about me, Minnowheart.." Rootpaw offers. She was scared, truthfully. For Heatherpaw, Dawnripple, and even for that rogue. She wasn't going to be any help, she'd just slow her mentor down as the she-cat would have to look over her.
Heatherpaw was huffing and bristling, "Hey what are you doing!? You can't throw Dawnripple off of the cliff!!!" From this point Heatherpaw couldn't tell if the loner was helping her mentor up, or throwing them off. She guessed the worst, of course, and she was gaining ground... she still had one last stretch before she could reach them; she couldn't wait for the day when her legs were long enough for her to do what the loner and Dawnripple did.
"I didn't hit my head on anything, nothing happened between these episodes. You're right, too. No dreams at all, I just wake up elsewhere with no recolletion on how." I replied after giving it some thought. It was true, I would have spoken up about suffering a head injury it that was the source. I did not seem to recall if anything occurred before all this began. The only thing I knew for certain was the episodes needed to cease one way or another, otherwise, I'd hinder in the clan in the long run instead of helping. I stared at Blackbrook for a few moments, thinking about what I was going to say next. Deciding he had a point, being our medicine cat, trusting him was vital to our survival. "Yeah, there was something else on my mind. Whatever I say will stay with you? All right, good. Here's the short version: Cloudclan needs new leadership if it's going to survive. As it stands, things have started to stall. The new policy about us staying in patrols of no fewer than four will be a problem later on given the more of us out in the field on patrols, the less we have back here to tend to other vital needs. Protection's one thing, but we need to be more efficient. Yes, I'm aware I'm not Stonestar so this isn't even my call, but surely Owl and you would agree that policy holds us back."
Then I paused for a moment, wondering if it was even okay to challenge something our leader decided. It's not like I had any solutions towards it regardless yet. Then, throwing caution to the wind, I leaned in closer to Blackbrook. "All right, I know you're observant so that's not all on my mind. There was one more thing...I was honest when I stated to Owl, plus I think he'd be a much better leader than Stonestar. She's on her last life, right? That's my assumption, of course."
Another tense pause caused me to consider what I was getting at, if that was even right at all. No, I decided to trust Blackbrook, so I added one final detail. "Of course, if Owl does become leader...we'd need a deputy to replace him sooner rather than later. And you see, well..." I hesistated to go on for a moment. Me, deputy? Was I seriously implying such a thing? Was that even okay to? Honestly, it wouldn't kill me to try though.
He wanted to be the next deputy! She gave a slight smile as she kept listening. She'd seen how the clan was fractured into pieces. She could tell one of the groups would become more ambitious than the other, and that was good for her. Lizardpaw had only one real alliance, and that was to Stormberry. But if one side got to be more powerful, Lizardpaw might need change how she thought of alliances.
Blackbrook knew some warriors were too stubborn to report injuries to him, they often times suffered for it later. Lynxsoul didn't seem to be that idiotic, a warrior like Lynxsoul would have reported it to Blackbrook first thing. At least the cat wasn't dreaming, if a cat other than him was having visions...
Well Blackbrook thought the idea enraging.
He listens back in as Lynxsoul continues, surprise coloring his face tactfully. "So you've noticed too how she has changed..? I feared for her, really, her health took a toll during the cold season, and she simply isn't recovering... Perhaps it isn't just physical anymore." His tone is despondent, hesitant even- Blackbrook knew how to play cats by now, "Owlshadow and I do agree, we just haven't been sure how to handle it... it's why we were going to talk to her, to see if we could get her to see reason." He fidgets, looks away and back, "I shouldn't speak of how many lives she has, it isn't couth, but.. well... oh nevermind that thought." He laughs.
"Yes.. if he was leader he would need a deputy... I have never brought it up to him, I'm sure he hasn't thought about it in too much depth because Stonestar seemed so well off until now... but I'm sure he's looking, especially for cats that are loyal to him." He'd give no hope to Lynxsoul, he was sure Owlshadow would ask him about his deputy candidates when the time arose, but pushing Lynxsoul to believe and try and gain Owlshadow's favor? He could do that.
(I need Cinnamon to respond for Rootpaw, but I could post something for Heatherpaw, I suppose, sorry Billy :3 )
The cat's were already so far up again?! Heatherpaw didn't feel like she had moved very far at all. Her sister and mentor were tiny blips in the distance, but her stamina was quickly wearing out and she just wanted to rest. There was a big rock ahead of her that she needed to get up, and going around may be easier but this was the most direct method.
So she wiggles her haunches and bounces up. Her front paws land but her back legs kick behind her from the edge and she hisses in panic- Come on! She just needed to get up there! Dawnripple needed help and she was as close as it was gonna get... if she didn't slip off this rock and tumble back down.
"Oi oi what are you doing?!" Heatherpaw batted and swung at the loner, panic finally seizing in her chest- being dropped would definitely kill her. She wouldn't be a warrior! She wouldn't be better than Briarpaw and who would look after Rootpaw?! Her struggling has her slip an inch in the loner's mouth and she goes positively still. Her fur is puffed up and she waits to be dropped, but she's just pulled back up onto the rock.
"...Uh?" She furrows her brows. He...wasn't dropping her to her death?
I listened to what Blackbrook was telling me carefully, giving a small frown once given a chance to speak. There was something on my mind, but sharing it now? That was just asking for trouble. With that said, there was never going to be any progress for keeping quiet. Then, making a quick glance at our medicine cat with a look of concern, I replied as best as I could. "Black, it's just...I'm worried. I seriously doubt Stonestar would listen to reason at this stage in my opinion. What if a more drastic course of action was required from us? I shouldn't have asked about the lives, I don't know why I did so. Sorry about that."
Tilting my head aside for a moment, the troubling thoughts came back. Trying to suppress them in the back of my mind did nothing, causing me to sigh. "Did Starclan tell you anything about what to do regarding this?" Then I stepped closer to Blackbrook without much warning but still kept my distance. "I get that we cannot always rely on them to solve our problems, but I digress. I just want to say one thing if nothing else--whatever you tell me isn't going to be relayed to anyone. You've trusted me enough to keep what I said private, I can do the same for you. Thank you for not giving me false hope in regards to Owl, by the way. I'll just respect whatever decision he makes going forward. I can live with knowing he'll be a great leader, as great of a medicine cat you are." I actually managed a small smile, making my choice to put faith in Blackbrook. It seemed like the right thing to do at the time, but I made a note to try to avoiding having all this impact my friendship with Storm and Berry too.
Lizardpaw took all of her strength not to run in there and ask how they were planning to get rid of Stonestar. Blackbrook was cunning, Owlshadow was ambitious, and now Lynxsoul wanted to be a deputy! How could their plans be ANY more obvious? Lizardpaw knew Stonestar wasn't a great leader. Though she coud think on her feet, what her problem was alliances. The way she showed her distaste for certain clan mates had fractured the clan. Lizardpaw just wanted to be on the winning side, and that side was NOT going to be Stonestar's. All Lizardpaw needed to do now was wait.
Owlshadow's fur was sufficiently ruffled at this point. he had none of the poise or elegance in his manner of handling things like this like Blackbrook did. But Ivypaw was his apprentice, and it was his job to handle it anyway, so he just had to make due. "You weren't supposed to hear anything" he growled, trying not to let his voice carry. Who taught him to be so sneaky anyway? The apprentice was like a shadow hanging around camp... "But I suppose now that you have, there's no use in playing coy. You know you have no chance of beating both Blackbrook and I in strength or wits, so what are you going after?" There was no point in beating around the bush. He needed to be direct with Ivypaw. It was just as much for his benefit as it was for the apprentice... if he couldn't secure Ivypaw, would Blackbrook call for his removal as well?
-------
"I can't leave you alone down here!" Minnowheart protested. Rootpaw was being very brave, yes, but what is the loner wasn't alone after all? Leaving Rootpaw down by herself was a risky move, and she wouldn't do it. Dawnripple needed to turn tail and save her apprentice, that was the only solution. "Dawnripple, get your tail back to Heatherpaw, what are you doing?!" she yowled, panic and finally anger seeping into her tone. Chasing the loner and protecting the territory was important, yes, but the life of her apprentice was much greater than that! Why wasn't Dawnripple helping Heatherpaw?!
Her chest clenched up as the fluffy tomcat dodged away from Dawnripple and slithered his way down the rockface towards Heatherpaw. Her voice caught in her throat has he sinks his teeth into her scruff. There's a dazzling moment where Minnowheart can almost see Heatherpaw's body, broken across the rocks at the base of the cliffs, before she's pulled back up onto the ledge. She's pulled out of the daze by a seething ball of rage, filling up her chest like a hot balloon. "Dawnripple!" she screeches, her voice carrying easily through the air with its ferociousness. "Get your mouse-brained, flea bitten tail back to your apprentice or Ancestor's help me they're going to be finding two bodies at the bottom of this cliff!" it was obvious the loner didn't want to fight. Dawnripple was just putting her apprentice in danger at this point, and that was just too much for Minnowheart. It was time to end this.
Minnowheart's fur was bushed out so she was twice her own size. Now the loner was in trouble! Dawnripplw would have to choose between ensuring Heatherpaw's safety or the loners. Minnowheart sent of a prayer of thankfulness that she was safely on the ground with her own apprentice. What would her clanmate do...? Could Heatherpaw sit still long enough for her to make sure the loner was safe? With a shudder, Minnowheart remembered Dawnripple's malice. Will she even want to save him...?
Minnowheart felt her paws itch. Dawnripple isn't going to help him. She looked down at Rootpaw. If she abandoned her apprentice, she would be putting her in danger in case there was some kind of trap with other cats waiting. But if she delayed, it could mean the life of the cat who dangled above her. Frantically, she searched the area around her. Her eyes fixated on a crack in the rockface, about two foxlengths away from her. It was too small for a cat, but Rootpaw could easily fit into it, away from any grabbing paws. Lifting the small apprentice by the scruff, she moved forward instantly, pushing her up to the nook "Hide here. Don't move, okay? You're safe, I'm coming right back for you" she meowed, trying desperately to keep her voice level.
Then, without waiting for a response, she started her ascent of the Moonpoint, scrabblign as fast as she could to Billystorm.
