The territory for the Clans have changes due to the addition of SkyClan. Please take time to look through, as you may be reprimanded if it becomes obvious you have not looked through the information on the front page. The Lake territory for RiverClan does not have any name by Twolegs. However, the Twoleg names for the borders are Littlepine Road, Littlepine Sailing Center, and Whitechurch Road. The territory includes the River Alba. Landmarks here include: ➤ Greenleaf Twolegplace - During greenleaf, Twolegs come here to swim noisily. ➤ Halfbridge - A peculiar bridge that ends halfway in the water. Twoleg boats are anchored to it. ➤ Lakeshore - RiverClan owns the south to western part of the lake shore. ➤ Camp - Like the other camp, this camp is tucked away on a piece of land surrounded by two streams, making it well-defended.
The camp is full of lush trees and streams full of fish. There is a main stream that joins a smaller one, and on that triangle of land, RiverClan's camp resides. In the camp, there is a nest of brambles which is where the nursery is. It is strongly reinforced. In other thickets are the elder's and leader's den. The medicine's den is behind a thorn bush and overhangs the stream. The earth was washed away, leaving a pool in the roots and a hole in the bank. This is essential for the medicine cat who can store their supplies and get fresh water any time. There aren't as many shiny things as the old camp, but Twolegs often leave behind shiny things that the cats can use to decorate their nests. However, they have to be careful, as not all Twoleg things are safe for them. The ShadowClan forest territory is located in an area that Twolegs call the Sadler Woods. The territory also includes Twoleg places such as the Hareview Campsite, the Sanctuary Cottage, and borders called Littlepine Road and the Littlepine Sailing Center. Landmarks in this territory include: ➤ Twoleg Nest - Home to two aggressive kittypets: Susan and Jacques. If they catch Clan cats out alone, they attack immediately. ➤ Small Thunderpath - There is a thunderpath that leads to the greenleaf twolegplace in RiverClan's territory. It acts as a border between RiverClan and ShadowClan. ➤ Lakeshore - ShadowClan owns the north-western part of the lake shore. ➤ Camp - Closer to Twolegs than in the old Forest territory, but it is well hidden and difficult for attacking enemies.
The camp has a small pool nearby, so the cats don't have to go all the way to the bottom of the lake to fetch water for elders or for the medicine cats. The actual camp is in a tangle of brambles, with low-hanging branches all around and above it. These brambles and branches help protect against badgers and other big creatures. Many trees surround the camp, enabling cats to climb up them and see the antics of the Twolegs on water. From these trees, the cats can see all the Twolegs and their boats in the water. The entrance of the camp is through a thorn tunnel, and brambles. At the camp entrance is a large boulder, which cats have to slip past to enter the camp clearing. There is a clear progression of dens from one side of the clearing to the other which are all in bramble thickets. The nursery is first, then the apprentices, then warriors, then the leader, and finally the elders at the end of the circle. This structure enables the kits and elders closest to the low-hanging branches and the warriors facing the entrance, if any kind of trouble. The medicine den is in a far corner, beyond the leader's den. It is a sandy, hollowed-out floor covered in dried pine needles. There, the branches aren't so bunched together, letting the medicine cats examine the skies for omens. Above the leader's den, there is a hazel branch that hangs over. This serves as a kind of vantage point for the leader to address their Clan. The Lake territory for SkyClan is located in Sadler and Hare Hill Woods. They reside in pieces of territory formerly owned by ThunderClan and ShadowClan as the two Clans gave up part of their territory for SkyClan to live beside the lake. Landmarks include: ➤ Greenleaf Twolegplace - Another place Twolegs inhabit during greenleaf. The Twolegs put up small dens and light terrifying fires. However, they also leave behind food much like the food found at the old Carrionplace. This was formerly a ShadowClan landmark. ➤ Halfbridge - A peculiar bridge that ends halfway in the water. Twoleg boats are anchored to it. RiverClan has a similar one in their territory. Despite this, ShadowClan tries to take it back. ➤ Twoleg Path - During greenleaf, Twolegs tramp along these paths all season. ➤ Camp - SkyClan makes their camp in a large hollow near the clearing. ➤ The Clearing - A training hollow that also houses an abundance of herbs.
The camp is slightly open, allowing the cats to see if a Clan is intruding. However, ferns, bracken, and thorns provide some cover and protection. The dens are varies hollowed logs, ranging in size and species of wood. They have a rock near the leader's den which they've named Sky Rock. The warriors and apprentices den are near the entrance. The leaders den resides next to the warriors den and faces the medicine cat den. The nursery and elders den are in the back with the most cover, offering shelter from the weather and making the elders, queens, and kits comfortable. The Lake territory for ThunderClan is called the Hare Hill Woods by Twolegs. Twoleg landmarks nearby include the Hareview Campsite, Abandoned Workman's House, Quarry Road, and the Quarry. Landmarks here include: ➤ An abandoned Twoleg Nest - Herbs and prey thrive here, though it has an ominous feeling inside. ➤ Sky Oak - An ancient oak where squirrels love to call home. It also has an old rabbit burrow inside. It is where ThunderClan apprentices practice their climbing skills. ➤ Lakeshore - ThunderClan has the north-eastern portion of the lake. ➤ Old Thunderpath - Marked with blue Twoleg markers, cats often stay away from this road. ➤ Camp - The camp is well protected by the side of a cliff, and surrounded by a thorn barrier.
At the bottom of an old cliff, this camp is very well protected. The walls around the camp are smooth, indicating Twolegs cut this place moons ago. The cliffs also help keep out the wind. A thorn barrier guards the camp; any cat that wants to come in has to get past. A ledge peeks out from the cliff. That is the Highledge where the leader speaks. A cave near the top is the leader's den. The apprentice's den is also a cave in the rocks while the warrior den is under a big thornbush. The medicine cat's den is another cave, but this time hidden by bramble tendrils. Like the previous camp, the nursery is highly guarded, and under a big bramble thicket reinforced with thick roots woven together for protection. Lastly, the elder's den is in a hazel bush, and later rebuilt under the boughs of a beech tree and reinforced with honeysuckle. The Lake territory for WindClan is called Hare Hill by Twolegs. The borders of the Clan have Twoleg names, such as the Hare Hill Riding Stables and Hare Hill road. Landmarks here include: ➤ Moonpool Stream - A stream marking WindClan's Northern border, which is shared with ThunderClan. Leads up to the Moonpool. ➤ Horseplace - The fence of Horseplace marks the Southern border of WindClan. Their heavy hooves make cats stay away from them. ➤ Lakeshore - WindClan is located on the south-eastern shore of the lake. ➤ Camp - A shallow scoop in the ground open to the sky.
A giant boulder resides in the center of the camp. This is called the Tallrock, where the leader makes his speeches. A gorse bush against the rock is the nursery. In another boulder is the medicine cat's den. The leader, apprentices, warriors sleep in the center underneath the sky, although in bad weather, they retreat in burrows made by rabbits, foxes or badgers. There is an old badger set where the elders sleep.

Before we jump into the specific restrictions, allow it to be clearly stated that rules may be changed at any time and the admins of this role-play have the right to do so. Of course, it will be discussed, but if there must be an addition, change, or removal, it is not negotiable. We apologize if you do not like it, but we will run the role-play how we feel is suitable and make proper changes to improve the quality. We must also make it clear that if you have not read the rules nor the history or territory, you are stepping off on the wrong foot with us. The information has been arranged the way it has to help make it easier to understand. The work put in should not be ignored and anyone who blatantly ignores it will be directed back to it so they may read it. If you respect us, we will respect you. That brings another important point: respect and courtesy. No one should feel uncomfortable or attacked. If you differ with someone on an opinion, do not attack them for it here, please. If anything in this role-play makes you feel uncomfortable, it is advised you do not join. Allow us to explain one thing: staff are held at a different standard than regular members. If you are a staff member, it is highly advised you read the staff rules to ensure you are following the activity rules. These section is for "regular" members, as it will be far less confusing. Regular members, save for those with a high position, will need to be on at the minimum of four days a week. This may sound a bit strict, but due to the size of the role-play, we must enforce stricter guidelines to ensure our success. The admins and staff attempt to provide the best experience possible and with the absence of members, that experience can not be provided. Admins and their staff will keep a close eye on activity. Every two weeks, there will be a check for inactive members. Obviously there will be consequences for breaking the rule and obviously we will have members who do break those rules. It is unfortunate, but we will still not tolerate it when it happens. Background, relations to other members, and other factors will not and should not influence someone to think that they can become inactive and not pay some kind of price. However, noted hiatuses are acceptable. What is a noted hiatus? Well, if a member knows they will be absent for a week, then they can alert a staff member about their expected absence and will not face any negative consequences for their absence. We kindly ask you do alert us if you are expected to be gone. If you can no longer be a member, it is best to let us know instead of going inactive and possibly create a sour relationship with one or more of the staff members. Of course, we can understand being in a rush one day, but if you can role-play in another role-play, you should at least be able to make a role-play post to move things. We will not allow "greeting" posts to count towards you being on the role-play. Unfortunately, this section will be the longest and hold many rules and regulations. We have organized it into smaller sections, but due to their relation to role-playing, they will be under this section. Again, before we jump into another batch of rules, let us go over the basics that everyone should know and should not do. Power-playing is basically taking a character you do not own and controlling them to do certain deeds and actions. While we have very few exceptions to this rule, it is still frowned upon and may result in a negative consequence. We kindly ask you refrain from doing this and if you feel you are, simply asking should not hurt. In fact, it may be better to check instead of doing whatever. Another issue that can have a few exceptions is spotlighting. The attention of the members and characters should vary depending on the location, time, and importance of what is being role-played. Depending on the "plot" depends on what should take more attention. There will be more discussion about plots, but be sure to be aware of when you should have the spotlight on your character and when you should not. The third common role-playing issue is god-modding. While Warriors has been known to be unrealistic at times and even break their own rules, it will not be allowed here. There have been measures taken to ensure god-modding does not happen in certain cases and during moments when god-modding can be more common, a watchful eye will be present. Finally, the fourth and final big issue: meta-gaming. Meta-gaming typically refers to a character knowing something they should not in canon. An example would be two characters entering a forbidden romance and then a third character randomly knowing about that relationship. If it is not role-played out and with the two giving permission, they can not know about the relationship. How about we move on and get to a part many despise reading. There is a lot of controversy about literacy and role-playing. On the old forums, there were typically four categories a role-play was in. However, we have decided to not exactly label ourselves. Instead, we simply ask for proper spelling and grammar as well as at least five sentences per post. Any less appears as if someone does not care and will not try. Given that the typical paragraph for children is five paragraphs, we are not asking much. You are invited to write more, but be cautious of "fluff." Filler makes the post difficult to read in terms sorting important information out from simple filler. Realism is quite important in this role-play. While the admins and staff will make sure everyone is following basic logic, we feel it should be touched upon that a patrol of three cats cannot properly take on a grown badger without serious injury and in a matter of seconds. In the Warriors universe, there are certain things that can and can not happen, so please abide by those rules and our rules. Now, general role-play rules play along with realism. It is too coincidental when your character gets all of the spotlight, so please do not do that. There will be moments when your character’s plot or spot in the limelight will take front and center. God-modding and meta-gaming are a no go for us, so do not even think about it. Please keep in mind that cats do die. To combat the chance of someone taking the liberty to have all of their cats die or live through a major event, the admins of the Clans will have what is called "chance charts." Depending on the situation, these can have an impact on the Clan or just a few characters. They will be on the discussion page, and will only be used when the situation calls. If you are not comfortable with the chance of your character dying, then please refrain from joining. If someone had been deleted or demoted for actions outside the role-play, we will find a way to make it work within the role-play. Whether it is a quick mention, a scene is played out explaining, or we replace them entirely and have a stand-in character take their place. We have many options to make sure the plot goes on without interruption. Hate to say it, but I do. If someone is deleted, they have a week to come back and everything is fine again. We will have something that matches the season as to why they were out of commission. If they do not come back, a staff member or someone else can take their spot or we will simply state they have died. We are very aware some of it would be seen as poor writing and it would be odd if a bunch of cats just died, but it is what it is. Everyday life can be quite.. frustrating when it repeats. However, it is also a great opportunity that is often overlooked when it comes to developing relationships and cooling off from a major plot. Patrols are often made up on the spot and seems very out of place compared to the books. To kind of create a similar feeling in the books and motivate activity, the member owning the deputy will create a list each Saturday for patrols on each day. This is not to control a character, but initiate others to do something besides waking up and grabbing a piece of prey. We will also bring back the small journey to the Moonpool for apprentices. Unfortunately, this is a small event that even the books have forgotten about, but some readers enjoyed. Of course, there is another small event that many role-plays have possibly forgotten and that is the warrior assessment. Before an apprentice can take on the assessment, they will need to complete six training sessions. Three would be for hunting and three would be for battling. These must be completed before the assessment and before an apprentice can go to the Moonpool and receive their name. Medicine cat apprentices will have two sessions of hunting, two sessions of fighting, and two sessions of medical and spiritual training. The medicine cat will choose the full name for the medicine cat apprentice and leaders will choose the full name for apprentices. Suggestions are welcome, but the leader's word is law. For weather, you may do whatever is possible in the forecast, however be cautious of creating big storms, as the admins may not appreciate it without their consent. When it comes to herbs, be sure to check what herb is available in your territory and what herb is not. This can also create some interaction between the Clans, but make sure you have the admins permission to come onto the page. When you join, please keep in the mind of the characteristics, rules, and any information pertaining to your character. We advise you to not use "handsome" or "beautiful" when describing your character. Why? Well, that is kind of going into god-modding territory. Do not apply for deputy, as leaders will decide on their deputy. Please properly use our form, coding and all. LBGTQ+ characters are welcomed here. Anyone who is against this or tries to argue against this can kindly leave. As for queens and kits, we kindly ask their be a father for the kits. You may ask one of the members if they would like to have a cat father the kits. The two cats do not necessarily have to be mates, either. As for single kits, please do not join with them. We would much rather have room for kits who are born in the Clan over having an overload of orphan kits. While we will also allow permanent queens, we ask you develop them. Regarding relationships, none of the admins mind two different people having their characters join as mates, or a character having a crush on another. As for having two characters being mates and owning them, the two characters must be retired. We also encourage joining and having a character related to others if the member allows it. In the Clans, there will be available spots, so please fill free. We will restrict the amount of outsiders, half-Clan cats, and outside cats who join the Clans. Please keep in mind any cat who is not a full Clan cat or has mixed blood will probably be discriminated against. When it comes to genetics, please be as accurate as you can. The admins either have a chart, a generator, or a basic idea of how genetics may work, so please don't try to pull the wool over our eyes. Any outsiders will be limited in number and restricted to an area. The admins will decide on the number and the outsider will need to remain in a Clan area. They cannot and will not remain in the territory, undiscovered for a long time. They must have a purpose. Now, an important note to make would be that characters cannot be made for the simple purpose of finding a mate. They need to have something besides that to keep them going. Something that can help develop them. At the same time, they also should not be made for the simple purpose of plot. For every warrior that is made, one apprentice may be made. Keep in mind, the maximum amount of apprentices is ten per Clan. While we do ask genders be kept somewhat even, it will be up to the admins to moderate this for their Clans, as every Clan may vary in characters. We will be limiting prefixes to two per Clan, however the cat must be an elder for the prefix to be used again in the same Clan. Allow us to explain. If there is an elder in ShadowClan named Cedarpelt, then there may be a Cedarkit or a Cedarpaw. We will have banned prefixes and suffixes. To check and see which are banned, please refer to the prefix list on the joining page. High ranks of any kind are a privilege. They can be taken away if someone proves to be unqualified. Mentors and apprentices are a great example of such. In most cases, mentors fail to train their apprentices or the apprentice(s) are the typical trope. Be aware of you actions, as it disrupts the overall narrative and have some negative impact. If an apprentice is shown to be too stubborn and refuses to listen, it may result in the assignment of another mentor and a warning to cool it. Even if the mentor is not technically in the wrong, they can and will be penalized for it. Deputies and medicine cats should be active, as well as important characters in the main or minor plots. If you are not, then you will be replaced. You have the chance to be high in the ranks, do not assume you can simply do what you wish. Certain plots will take priority over the others. Events in the main plots that involve all five Clans will play out before any other plots. Minor plots refer to plots that only impact a Clan or possibly two Clans. They will take the second priority, as they involve a decent amount of characters, but still on a smaller scale. Subplots where it is a Clan life event, a fox encounter, or kitting will take the least amount of priority of the three, but still have power over instant drama plots. There will be planning for each event. A week will be the minimum amount of notice when a potential event will take place. Now, plots like kitting may be planned, but if a member of the staff is online, in addition to the medicine cat, then a queen may kit early if it will involve some complications due to early birth. However, not all kittings will proceed like this. If you are unsure about what you may initiate without permission, ask a staff member what is and is not acceptable. The admins and staff of this role-play should be cracking down on poor behavior and general laziness. If a member violates a rule for the first time, they will be issued a warning. Two warnings will equal a star. A star is not something you would want to receive, as you may only have five stars before being deleted. You may rejoin once and will automatically start on the second star. Now, when a member gets to the second star, they cannot not "attend" the Gathering and their characters must remain in camp for two days. For the third star, their apprentices could have an additional training session added on before they become a warrior. If they do not have an apprentice but have a warrior acting as a mentor, their apprentice will be assigned a new mentor for a week and that cat will be sick or under punishment for something. If the member happens to have both, admin may decide on which approach to take. When a fourth star is issued, it will result in previous punishments from before and a week's suspension from that Clan. Now, if they have joined two Clans, the two admins can discuss if this will impact both Clans or just the one. If they show a better attitude in the other Clan, it will only be in the Clan they're not doing so well with. Finally, the fifth star will result in deletion. If a member does rejoin, then they cannot have any special plots, positions, or even apprentices until two weeks in. If the member vastly improves past those two weeks, then the admin can discuss the possibility of cleaning the slate for the member. ➤ ʀᴀɪɴʟᴇᴀғ 🍁 , Dingo Xylingo , Sand Rainleaf completely did the coding and graphics. She also typed up the rules, although all the admins went over them and discussed them. The addition to the history was written by her. The map of the lake was edited by Rainleaf. Xylynx helped with the herbs and placing them in specific territories. Sandclaw helped code the herbs.
➤ Erin Hunter, Wayne McLoughlin, and Owen Richardson The history came from the official Warriors site, and therefore is written by Erin Hunter. The artwork used in the main banner and the symbols were made by Rainleaf, but inspired by the symbols drawn by Wayne.
➤ Warriors Wiki The characteristics and territory are displayed on the Clan's page on the Warriors Wiki. It is a collection of information written by Erin Hunter. The herbs, battle moves, warrior code, illnesses and treatments, as well as the ceremonies on the special pages are located on the wiki. This information also comes Erin Hunter as well.

Whitecough is the milder form, but if untreated, it can develop into the much more severe greencough. Cats usually catch it during leaf-fall and leaf-bare, and sometimes it develops into large-scale epidemics. It can be fatal for elders and kits, and it has claimed the lives of several cats. It spreads quickly and is highly contagious. Medicine cats treat it using catmint. The first ThunderClan medicine cat, Cloudspots, found out that this was the best remedy. If fevers accompany the cough, tansy or borage is used as well. ● Poisoning Information & Treatment: Poisoning is the ingestion of a substance that causes harm to the body. If only a small quantity of poison is ingested, the cat usually just receives a bellyache, but larger amounts can cause death. Medicine cats treat these bellyaches with yarrow or nettle leaves, while mild bellyaches can be treated with juniper or watermint. If a cat has been severely poisoned they may become unconscious for a length of time. To make a cat potentially vomit the poison, immediately give them yarrow. ● Rat-Borne Infections Information & Treatment: The cats sometimes fall victims to infections carried by rats. One of these infections is called Carrionplace Disease. The first ShadowClan medicine cat, Pebbleheart, realized that rats were a source of disease. As ShadowClan cats sometimes ate the rats from the Carrionplace, they were prone to catch these diseases. It is a deadly and contagious disease. To cure the disease, use ragweed, juniper berries, chickweed, and honey. However, if the case is severe, then replace chickweed with catmint or add a little portion of catmint to help. Burdock root is used to stop infection from rat bites. ● Loss of Sensory Perception Information & Treatment: A cat may lose their eyesight or hearing due to old age. Or from accidents and infections, or birth defects. These conditions usually end their career as a warrior, as they cannot hunt or fight efficiently, and must retire as elders. Kits born with defects usually die young, unless they have special skills compensating it. Kits that are white with blue eyes have a higher chance of being born deaf. ● Joint Aches Information & Treatment: A condition usually associated with elders, the joints gradually degenerating with age, causing pain and difficulty to move. Damp environments can cause the appearance of this condition, so apprentices must make sure that the moss they gather for bedding is completely dry. It is usually treated using daisy or ragwort poultices. ● Toothache Information & Treatment: A toothache is caused by a cracked tooth, cavities, or an infection in the mouth. Alder bark is used to soothe the pain. ● Fever Information & Treatment: Fever is an abnormally high temperature of the body. It is not a disease in itself, but it usually signs the presence of an infection, such as greencough or an infected wound. If needed, it can be treated with feverfew, borage, or lavender. ● Chills Information & Treatment: Chills are mostly associated with cold weather or being submerged in cold water for a long period of time. Although this condition is mild and is not a disease, it has claimed lives. Kits and elders are more at risk of dying when they get a chill. Licking a cat's fur the wrong way gets the blood flowing again. A poultice of lavender, catmint and feverfew is also a good remedy. ● Wounds Information & Treatment: Wounds are injuries when the skin and the muscles beneath are torn, cut, or punctured. They may put a cat's life in danger due to blood loss, infections, or the damage of the organs. Wounds are the most common injuries, due to the cats always fighting enemy Clans, badgers, or foxes. Minor wounds heal on their own in no time, but severe wounds must be treated by a medicine cat. This treatment includes cleaning it thoroughly with the tongue, stopping the bleeding by pressing cobwebs on it, and applying poultices to prevent infection and help it to heal. Herbs used in the poultices include goldenrod, marigold, burdock root or (in the case of rat bites) wild garlic. If the wound becomes infected, chervil or horsetail is used as well. The pain can be eased with poppy seeds or willow bark. ● Sprains Information & Treatment: Sprains are injuries to ligaments of a joint, caused by being stretched beyond their normal capacity and possibly torn. It causes severe pain and decreased ability to move the joint. The cat must rest for several days. ● Joint Dislocation Information & Treatment: Joint dislocation is the displacement of a bone from its normal joint. Medicine cats treat this condition by first feeding the patient poppy seeds to make them sleepy so they don't feel it as much, and then forcing the limb back into the joint. ● Cracked Pads Information & Treatment: The paw pads may crack while walking long distances on hard surfaces, or due to cold weather. Elders are especially prone to this condition. It is treated with a poultice of coltsfoot or yarrow. Dock leaf poultices are also used to cool cracked pads. ● Broken Bones Information & Treatment: A broken bone is usually the result of an accident, such as falling down from a high place, or being hit by a monster. Cats most often break their legs, and while medicine cats try to bind the bone with cobwebs, the injury usually results in the cat remaining crippled for the rest of their life. A more severe injury is when a cat breaks their backbone. This results in the cat being unable to feel or move parts of their body. If the break is bad enough the cat will be killed on or shortly after impact. It is best to possibly make the patient swim in shallow water in hopes of exercising the injured limb or coming up with exercises to fit the patient's need. The ceremonies have been written out and coded so the admins and leaders do not have to look up the words each time. It is recommended that leaders and admins use these, but it will not be forced. ● Apprentice Ceremony - An apprentice ceremony is performed when a kit is ready to take on apprentice training, usually at the age of six moons old. When a kit turns six moons old, they are ready to become an apprentice. Until this time, their name ends with the "-kit" suffix. When a kit becomes an apprentice, their name is changed so that the suffix of their name becomes "-paw", showing the path their paws are on. ➥ The Clan leader calls a Clan meeting to appoint a new apprentice and assign a mentor to them. The following words are used, by tradition: ➤ Leader: (Kit), you have reached the age of six moons, and it is time for you to be apprenticed. From this day on, until you receive your warrior name, you will be known as (new name, ending with "paw"). Your mentor will be (name of warrior or medicine cat). I hope (name of warrior or medicine cat) will pass down all he/she knows on to you. ➥ The leader calls up the warrior he/she has chosen as a mentor. ➤ Leader: (Warrior), you are ready to take on an apprentice. You had received excellent training from (former mentor), and you have shown yourself to be (quality) and (quality). You will be the mentor of (apprentice), and I expect you to pass on all you know to (apprentice). ➥ The mentor touches noses with the apprentice, and the Clan greets the new apprentice by calling out their name.
● Medicine Cat Apprentice Ceremony - It follows a similar procedure as a warrior apprentice's ceremony. However, the medicine cat is included and the ceremony is not complete without the trip to the Moonstone for StarClan's acceptance. In between the time of the ceremony held before the Clan and before StarClan, the apprentice does still train. ➥ The leader calls a Clan meeting, after the Clan's medicine cat announces that they wish to mentor an apprentice. The following words are used, by tradition: ➤ Medicine Cat: Cats of (Clan), as you know, I will not be around forever. So it's time I took an apprentice. I have chosen a cat who has shown (virtues). Your next medicine cat will be (apprentice). ➤ Leader: (Apprentice), do you accept the post of apprentice to (medicine cat)? ➤ Apprentice: I do. ➤ Medicine Cat: Then at the half-moon, you must travel to the Moonstone to be accepted by StarClan before the other medicine cats. ➤ Leader: The good wishes of all (Clan) will go with you. ➥ The mentor touches noses with the apprentice, and the Clan greets the new apprentice. ◎ At the next half moon, the medicine cat goes with the apprentice to the Clans' sacred place to present them to the warrior ancestors, where the apprentice confirms their wish to be a medicine cat. The following words are used, by tradition: ➤ Medicine Cat: (Apprentice), is it your wish to enter the mysteries of StarClan as a medicine cat? ➤ Apprentice: It is. ➤ Medicine Cat: Then come forward. ➤ Medicine Cat: Warriors of StarClan, I present you with this apprentice. (He/she) has chosen the path of a medicine cat. Grant (him/her) your wisdom and insight so that (he/she) may understand your ways and heal (his/her) Clan in accordance with your will. ➥ The medicine cat apprentice touches his/her nose to the Moonstone, Then the medicine cat and the apprentice lay down and have a dream from StarClan.
● Warrior Cermony - A warrior ceremony is a ceremony in which an apprentice finally gets their warrior name and becomes a full fledged warrior of their Clan. An apprenticeship usually lasts six moons or more. Once the mentor is satisfied with the apprentice's progress and skills, they recommend them to the leader of the Clan. Then, the apprentice must pass an assessment, when their abilities as a warrior are checked. In cases when the apprentice has just made an important contribution to the Clan, the leader may decide that there is no need for an assessment. Before an apprentice becomes a warrior, they must visit the Moonstone to receive a dream of their destiny. ➥ If the Clan Leader is satisfied, they call a Clan Meeting and call the apprentice. The following words are used, by tradition: ➤ Leader: I, (Leader), leader of (Clan), call upon my warrior ancestors to look down on this apprentice. (He/she) has trained hard to understand the ways of your noble code, and I commend (him/her) to you as a warrior in (his/her) turn. ➤ Leader: (Apprentice), do you promise to uphold the warrior code and to protect and defend your Clan, even at the cost of your life? ➤ Apprentice: I do. ➤ Leader: Then by the powers of StarClan, I give you your warrior name. (Apprentice), from this moment you will be known as (new warrior name). StarClan honors your (virtues), and we welcome you as a full warrior of (Clan). ➥ The leader rests their muzzle on the apprentice's head, and the apprentice licks the leader's shoulder. The rest of the Clan then greets the new warrior by calling them by their new name. The warrior will sit a silent vigil guarding the camp that night, except if that is not possible.
● Dying Warrior Ceremony - When an apprentice is on the verge of death and has proven themself to be worthy of a warrior name, there is a special ceremony used so that the apprentice may take a warrior name to StarClan. ➤ Leader: I ask my warrior ancestors to look down on this apprentice. (He/She) has learned the warrior code and given up (his/her) life in the service of (his/her) Clan. Let StarClan receive (him/her) as a warrior. (He/She) will be known as (new name).
● Medicine Cat Ceremony - A medicine cat ceremony is a ceremony in which a medicine cat apprentice finally gets their well earned medicine cat name, because their mentor approves of their work. Apprenticeship for medicine cats usually lasts much longer than those for warriors. The cat must learn about all available herbs and remedies, and the treatment of diseases and injuries. ➥ Once the Clan's medicine cat is satisfied with the apprentice's knowledge, they go to the Clans' sacred place. This is the only ceremony that is not performed by the Leader. The following words are used, by tradition: ➤ Medicine Cat: I, (name), medicine cat of ___Clan, call upon my warrior ancestors to look down on this apprentice. (He/she) has trained hard to understand the ways of a medicine cat, and with your help (he/she) will serve (his/her) Clan for many moons. ➤ Medicine Cat: ___paw, do you promise to uphold the ways of a medicine cat, to stand apart from rivalry between Clan and Clan and to protect all cats equally, even at the cost of your life? ➤ Apprentice: I do. ➤ Medicine Cat: Then by the powers of StarClan I give you your true name as a medicine cat. ___paw, from this moment you will be known as (new name). StarClan honors your (virtues), and we welcome you as a full medicine cat of (Clan). ➥ The medicine cat rests their muzzle on the apprentice's head, and they lick the mentor's shoulder. The other medicine cats greet them by their new name.
● Deputy Ceremony - A deputy ceremony is when a Clan leader names the Clan's new deputy. This happens when the previous deputy dies, retires, is exiled, or is promoted to leader. According to the warrior code, a new deputy must be appointed before moonhigh that day. There are exceptions, however. Occasionally, a Clan leader does not announce the new deputy before moonhigh. This can be because: they are physically or emotionally unwell, or they are unsure whether the previous deputy is alive. If the ceremony is not performed in time, it is sometimes seen as a bad omen. If the deputy dies in battle, the Clan Leader might choose to appoint the new deputy whilst still fighting, instead of waiting to return to the camp. ➤ Leader: I say these words before StarClan, so that the spirits of our warrior ancestors (or former deputy name) may hear and approve of my choice. The new deputy of (Clan) is (warrior's name).
● Leader Ceremony - A leadership ceremony is the ceremony in which, when the leader dies or retires, the deputy receives their nine lives and their leader name with the suffix -star. ➥ The new leader goes to the Moonstone with the Clan's medicine cat. After touching the stone, the new leader cannot move for a short period of time, because their old life is being ripped away so they can receive nine new ones. Upon awakening, cats of StarClan come down from Silverpelt. Nine cats, normally ones who were significant during the new leader's life, although this is not always the case,[ give them their nine lives with these words: ➤ Life-Giver: (Touches nose to the top of the new leader's head) With this life I give you (gift). Use it well (to, in, as, for, etc.) (use of gift). ➥ When all of the lives have been given, normally the previous leader says these words: ➤ Previous Leader: Previous Leader: I hail you by your new name, _____star. Your old life is no more. You have now received the nine lives of a leader, and StarClan grants you the guardianship of ____Clan. Defend it well; care for young and old; honor your ancestors and the traditions of the warrior code; live each life with pride and dignity.
● Name Changing Ceremony - A name changing ceremony is a ceremony that takes place when a Clan Leader decides to give a Clan cat a new name. This is usually done when the cat's old name does not suit them anymore, or because of an injury. ➥ The leader calls a Clan Meeting, and performs the change with the following words: ➤ Leader: "Spirits of StarClan, you know every cat by name. I ask you now to take away the name from the cat you see before you, for it no longer stands for what he/she is. By my authority as Clan leader, and with the approval of our warrior ancestors, I give this cat a new name. From this moment on he/she will be known as (new name), for (description of the reason)."
● Elder Ceremony - An aging warrior, queen, or medicine cat may retire as an elder due to own initiative, when they feel they cannot help the Clan efficiently any more. A cat may also retire if they are hindered from serving their Clan through old age, illness, or injury. They report this to the Clan leader, who calls a Clan meeting and addresses the warrior. ➤ Leader: (Warrior), is it your wish to give up the name of a warrior and go to join the elders? ➤ Warrior: It is. ➤ Leader: Your Clan honors you and all the service you have given to us. I call upon StarClan to give you many moons of rest. ➥ The Clan will call out the retired warrior's name and then they will go to the elder's den. An elder may receive a completely different name, with a different ceremony, than keeping their warrior name. Usually, an elder ceremony is held only when a cat retires due to old age. If they are forced to retire because of a severe injury, there is no ceremony.
