Ghostscreech gave a light nod, “Alright. Then first we’ll start with a simple test of your skills so I can assess where exactly you are at with your fighting skills.” He said, standing up and moving a few paces away from her. Once he had a decent amount of space between them, Ghostscreech turned and faced Mistpaw. “I want you to attack me as you would an enemy. Remember to keep your claws sheathed.” He instructed, easily slipping into a steady fighting stance.
Sootpaw scented the air, turning his head in different directions, “There’s one over there.” He mewed, pointing his tail in a different direction of Flurrypaw’s bird.
Sunthroat flicked his ear, “No, unfortunately we aren’t as skilled at climbing trees like the SkyClan warriors are.” He mewed, looking at Flurrypaw, “See if you can find one that’s on the ground.” He suggested before looking at Sootpaw, “Go ahead and stalk after it, Sootpaw. Frostmoon, would you like to go with him and see how he does?” Sunthroat asked, looking at the other mentor.
Hollowpaw stumbled lightly, not having expected Scarletpaw’s light nudge. She gave a nod at her description of the battle move, her ear flicking in light worry. She was more concerned about the tree part of the move, it was going to be difficult telling where the tree would be exactly. She would be lucky if she didn’t run into it face first. Hollowpaw frowned lightly, she didn’t want to embarrass herself in front of all the other apprentices.

“Alright, but I still want to make sure you get enough to eat as well.” Brokenwing mewed, settling down next to Flamesky. She leaned forward and took the first bite out of the squirrel before nudging it back to him. Flamesky took a small bite of the squirrel, just big enough to make it look like he was actually trying to eat some of it. He flexed his claws, digging them into the soft dirt of the camp ground. "Was Peachdapple able to tell how many kits we're going to have?"

Pebblepaw gave his mentor a quick nod and quickly made his way to the other side. He crept low, raising his tail-- perhaps a tad too much, but it wasn't dragging like before. He crept forward slowly, careful to not let a paw touch the ground too hardly. Once he was about three tail-lengths away, he made his pounce, landing just short of the leaf. He quickly jutted a paw forward, slamming it down on the leaf. "Would I have caught that if it were a mouse?" he mused. Willowsong tilted her head, attempting to hide her amusement. "Maybe, but mice are fast. You'd have much better luck catching a bird like that than prey that can run along the ground. Not every pounce is going to be perfect prey is never going to sit still for you like a leaf will. Slamming your paw out like that was quick thinking, which is exactly what you need to hunt. Birds will take flight mid-leap, you may need to try and hook their wings, squirrels will bound away and you will have to do your best to chase them. Some prey run so fast you just have to let them go. Hunting is a game of luck and practice. Would you like to try once more before I test your scenting skills?"

“It’s a bit early to tell for sure, but she thinks there could be at least three or four.” Brokenwing mewed after taking another bite, looking back at Flamesky. She was relieved that he was eating as well, not wanting him to go without for her sake, “Just think of us with four little fur balls running around.” She purred.

Mistpaw dipped her head, backing away until she chose to start circling Ghostscreech. She did so until she decided he might've let his guard down, flicking her whiskers as she rushed forward, leaping into the air to pounce on his back.
Pebblepaw shook his head. "I think I can practice this with Mistpaw later-- maybe we'll be able to catch something together. Is there something in particular that you'd like me to scent?"

Flamesky took another bite, eyes wide at the though of them wrangling four young kits. He knew they would be able to handle it, especially with the other queens help but the thought was still a bit daunting. "Three or four! Wow. We'll definitely have our paws full then. I'll have to move into the nursery with you to keep an eye on them." he mewed with a grin.

Willowsong stood up and walked closer to her apprentice, scenting the air to see what all was nearby. She shook her head, wrapping her tail around her paws as she settled in front of him. "No, just tell me whatever prey scents you can identify in the air right now. Once you get to know our clanmates a bit better we'll work on your tracking and identifying other cats."

A quick nod was his only reply. Pebblepaw opened his jaws and took a deep breath, taking in the scents around him as he closed his eyes. "Cats, of course... There's a tangy, meaty scent-- I think it's blackbird. I smell plenty of dock, as well as mice. I carried some of Mistpaw's scent with me, but it's dissipating quickly."

Willowsong smiled, "You've got a strong nose, I don't know much about herbs so I'll take your word about the dock, but the only prey you didn't mention was a squirrel that passed by here. It's scent is very faint now so I'm not surprised you missed it." She got to her paws, looking at Pebblepaw expectantly, "How about we try and go catch that blackbird together?"

Ghostscreech watched Mistpaw carefully, turning his head as she circled him. He gave a light smile, impressed that she had chosen to charge him from behind. The deputy let Mistpaw land on his back and latch on before he quickly dropped to the ground to roll onto his back to shake her off of him.
Brokenwing purred at the thought of Flamesky moving into the nursery with her. “I don’t think the queens want you taking up what little space we have in there.” She laughed, finishing her part of the squirrel.

Pebblepaw eagerly nodded. "Yes-- I'd like that, Willowsong."
Off of Ghostscreech's back, Mistpaw quickly rolled over to be on her paws, charging immediately forward to batter his face with sheathed claws.

We can work on them as we go.” The young Warrior instructed, her focus completely on the task at hand. “You got quiet.” Scarletpaw observed. “If you’re nervous, don’t worry. You can just join me for practice sessions in camp if you’re ever free, and I can help you do it over and over until you get it down. For now, though, I’m guessing they’ll have us practice it here soon.”

Flamesky nudged Brokenwing before taking another bit of the squirrel, "Oh come on, you don't want to be crammed in a nest with me and four kits? I'm sure we'd get along just fine." he snickered quietly. "I am glad we have Squirreltail and Blizzardstorm to look to if we need any help. Not that I think we will but it'll be nice to know we're not alone in this." he mewed genuinely.

Willowsong scented the air again trying to judge which direction and how far away the bird was. Satisfied that she had gotten a good idea, she led her apprentice into the undergrowth. As the approached, she could hear the bird chirping quietly as it picked at some seeds scattered in a small clearing. She signaled Pebblepaw to crouch beside her, "Whenever you're ready, you're going to stalk after the bird and pounce at it. I will come with, but I will only help if the bird starts flying away okay? Do your best!" she whispered with a warm smile.

Pebblepaw nodded and crept down lo, paws steady and tail off the ground. He pulled his haunches in and then leapt forward, claws extended as her pierced the wings of the bird, half-crushing it in the process. He nipped down on its neck until it grew still. An unclean kill, but a first kill nonetheless. He dropped the bird in front of Willowsong, beaming. "My first prey!" he purred, licking blood from his claws.

Willowsong inspected the prey, giving Pebblepaw a proud nod. "As you get better, you'll be more precise and you will be able to make the kill without breaking it's wing, but a catch is a catch! I'm sure Mistpaw will be very impressed. Do you feel ready to join the others in tall pines?"

Willowsong padded to the base of the tree and dug a shallow hole, motioned for Pebblepaw to place his bird inside. "We'll bury it for now and come back for it later." After it was buried, she padded on towards tallpines. She knew Pebblepaw would probably be excited to show off his new skills to the other apprentices, and she wouldn't mind showing off how quickly her apprentice had learned new skills either.

Willowsong pushed into tallpines, nodding to Sunthroat and Frostmoon as they approached. "Pebblepaw's shown me he has the basics. He even caught himself a blackbird." she mewed with a small purr. "We'll stay with you for the rest of the session."

Pebblepaw looked over the two warriors that Willowsong had named and did his best to committ them to memory. Frostmoon is the spiky-furred white one, he said to himself, with the blue eyes and black patch. Sunthroat is the older warrior... black with a golden throat. Easy enough.

“That’s quite impressive.” Frostmoon mewed, genuine in her calm praise as she looked at Pebblepaw. Perhaps he and Mistpaw did truly have good potential, to become Clan cats. Even so, she glanced once at Willowsong and mewed. “Sootpaw’s going to attempt to catch the bird he’s tracking. I will be following him, but we will be close.”

Aspenfall started, gazing at Peachdapple with worry in his gaze. "You don't mean..." If he understood what she was implying, he really didn't want to. What would he do without her unshakable faith and skill? Aspenfall didn't know a ThunderClan without Peachdapple. "I- I don't know. Even if so, please tell me that you'll keep guiding me. I don't feel prepared for this." he admitted. “I would never stop guiding you, no matter where I walk, Aspenfall.” Peachdapple smiled softly. “So long as you find faith in Starclan, you find faith in me as well. Nobody’s ever truly prepared for this position… but that is why only a select few can ever get the chance. A medicine cat is never alone, Aspenfall, when we have our Clan to give us a reason to become our best selves. We all go, sooner or later. My dear, I never want to see you suffer, or saddened. It… it will all be okay, in the end.” Aspenfall let out a breath. Peachdapple was right, as she usually was, but it still hurt to hear. "I pray that one day my faith rivals yours." he responded. He partly wondered if Slatesight would be here for him when the day came, or if he retained his faith in StarClan at all. "You truly are one of ThunderClan's guiding lights. I'll be trusting you until I can't anymore."

I'll be trusting you until I can't anymore." "Oh, dear." Peachdapple chuckled, her voice rich with both age and crass humor. "You think too highly of me. You and many of the others. My faith was near non-existent when I first became Mossfeather's apprentice. A part of me almost resented her, because I used to think she pushed me until I couldn't say no to her desire for me to become her apprentice. She hated blood, you know. Absolutely hated it, even when she was an exceptional healer. That's why I had to clean all the wounds." She recalled her mentor with both haughtiness and humor. "But as an apprentice, I didn't have the faith I do now. Faith comes from experience, and the ability to stand strong against even the darkest of challenges. Aspenfall, you and I both see now that the future will hold those dark challenges. I need you to be ready for them. It will be the best way I can protect our Clan, by making sure the cats who come after me can do the job I can, even if I have to one day go. But..." She looked at Aspenfall, and smiled lightly. "I am no greater than you, Aspenfall, or anyone else. I make mistakes, and I have moments of weakness, just like anyone else. That is what separates us from Starclan, no? Thank you though, for trusting so deeply in me. It always means the world to me."

Yarrowcloud sat quietly in the shade of the trees, watching the Sandy Hollow with his good eye turned towards Blizzardstorm and Silentflare. His chest fluttered, warmth in his veins as he watched his younger brother showcase the advanced move for all the apprentices. Yarrowcloud knew that he and Silentflare had never been able to be close, and it was perhaps the greatest ache in the elder's heart. Wrenflight had destroyed that chance before he died. Yarrowcloud knew that he could at least have the solace of loving his younger brother from afar.
Beyond that, watching the training session brought a rush of memory to him. It was shocking, just how much everything had changed. Lightningstar was beside him now, yet the leader's age was prevalent. Yarrowcloud wondered if any of the other cats here, besides Sunthroat, could recall a time before Lightningstar's leadership, before the devastation of Adderclan, before Yarrowcloud had been struck by a monster, and mauled by rouges until his body had given out. He remembered, he remembered it so, so well.
"Sandy Hollow! I know it's in the name, but I didn't expect it to actually be this... sandy!" Yarrowpaw scampered around the training grounds with excited paws, a whirlwind of energy coming from the new apprentice. He had waited so many moons in the nursery for this day, and it was finally here! Yarrowpaw rounded the hollow before skidding to a halt back in front of his mentor. "Lightningfur, do you think the sand was already here, or did a bunch of cats dig all this up or something?"
"I think that you've reached your limit on questions for the day." Lightningfur had scolded then, though it hardly seemed to phase the young tom. Yarrowpaw was already crouching low, a clumsy crouch enriched with his sheer willpower and drive to start learning how to fight like a true Warrior.
"I'm ready to learn how to do a Jump and Pin! I saw Brackenshade doing it, and Peachpaw said that she's going to get it on her first try!"
"Peachpaw should remember that the Jump and Pin is an advanced move, and Brackenshade was demonstrating for the older apprentices." Lightningfur reminded. "She was just allowed to watch because she's his apprentice. If either of you can pull it off now, I'd say that's a Starclan sent miracle."
"That's exactly what we are!" Yarrowpaw giggled, suddenly bolting back into a run around the hollow, before facing his mentor and dipping back into his clumsy crouch. He had a large body and paws, his entire kithood. It made him look funny when he crouched, though the tom only cared about one thing. He was going to impress Lightningfur! "So can we do the Jump and Pin? Pleeeease?"
"We can do the basic crouch, and go from there." Lightningfur decided, his voice stern, yet Yarrowpaw smiled at the hint of amusement he could hear from the young Warrior's voice.
"And then the Jump and Pin, right?"
"No."
"Aww!"
Yarrowcloud's mind burst back to the present, the memory filling him with both happiness and sadness. He looked once at Lightningstar, missing the rich colors of his pelt and the bright spark in his eyes from when he had first touched noses with him. Seeing the new apprentices watch the advanced move with such intent, the same way he and Peachdapple had watched Warriors long lost from moons ago, it was all so... striking. Impactful. He turned to look back at Blizzardstorm and Silentflare, a small bubble of humor rising in him as he felt a desire to critique their forms, just as Lightningstar once had when he had taught Yarrowcloud this move moons later in his apprenticeship. He didn't speak though, just watching the session fondly.

Pebblepaw nodded after Frostmoon spoke. "Would it be alright if I followed and watche Sootpaw's technique?" he asked Willowsong, nose twitching. Maybe seeing someone else do will help me do it better. Who knows, maybe I'll find another bird before getting back to camp!

Sootpaw had started after the bird he was tracking when Willowsong and Pebblepaw had returned, dropping into the hunting crouch Magpiewing had shown him for stalking birds. He came to a stop once he reached the place where a dove was pecking at the ground, searching for seeds. Sootpaw waited until the dove had its back turned to him before he carefully moved out from the bushes and inched closer before pouncing on it and quickly biting down on its neck, killing it quickly. Purring lightly, Sootpaw sat up with the dove in his jaws, turning to face Frostmoon and Pebblepaw. He set the bird down and said a quick thanks to StarClan for the prey.
Ghostscreech had rolled back to his paws once he had dislodged Mistpaw from his back, moving his face out of the way after she had managed to land a couple of blows on it. She adjusts quickly. That’s good. He thought to himself, analyzing her movements carefully. She certainly has potential. Ghostscreech took a quick step to the side and lashed out a paw, aiming to sweep Mistpaw’s feet out from under her.
Sunthroat gave a nod in greeting to Willowsong before he turned to the other apprentices, “Alright, anyone else find any prey scents?” He prompted.
Brokenwing laughed, giving Flamesky a nudge in return. “I certainly wouldn’t mind it, but I don’t think Squirreltail and Tawnyfur would like you taking up space in the nursery.” She purred.

“Mm. Excellent form, Sootpaw. To be expected of a cat trained by Magpiewing.” Frostmoon complimented calmly, having always respected the older Warrior’s drive and skills. She mewed. “You caught the bird, but I want you to tell me, what would you have done had you missed your pounce by a paw? How would you recover your catch?” Frostmoon tested.
“I… scent a pigeon… over that way.” Drizzlepaw finally spoke up, her voice a little nervous as she pointed her tail towards the west, eyes darting up and away from Sunthroat.
