Hollowpaw purred, quickly burying the mouse, "Let's go catch something together! I bet we could get a nice big one if we work together." She mewed, starting to open up more to the older apprentice. She was glad to have someone else to talk to other than just her brothers. Lionkit looked at Yarrowcloud in awe, "We fought alongside ShadowClan?" he whispered, flicking his ear. That was hard to believe. And Lightningstar had only just become leader? He must have been so young back then! Brokenwing flicked her tattered ear nervously, looking down at her paws, "W-well, lately I've been feeling... a bit off." She began, glancing back at Flamesky. "I thought maybe I had come down with something, so I went to go and see Peachdapple and she said that I wasn't sick... But she did say that I'm expecting kits." she whispered, watching Flamesky carefully for his reaction to the news. Scarletpaw was a bit taken aback by Hollowpaw’s enthusiasm, but she quickly found herself immersed in it. She grinned. “Ah, so you’ll get to experience some of my hunting too, huh? Now that Yellowpaw’s here too, I’m sure we can scrounge something up together.” “Yep! Shadowclan. The leader at the time was a she-cat named Northstar… and Northstar was a brave soul. Her and Scarstar, some of the strongest cats I’ve ever known. They’re no longer with us now, but with Lightningstar on their side, we were able to turn the tide of the War and finally defeat Adderclan. Speaking of Lightningstar, your mother and I have something in common. We were Lightningstar’s apprentices.” Yarrowcloud purred. |

Tansykit frowned "How did Robinstar and Adderstar become leaders if they were so mean?"
Twilightkit glanced over to the leader's den with a pout, "I want to be Lightningstar's apprentice too!"
Flamesky blinked, seemingly frozen for a moment before he broke into a grin, "Kits? Our kits? Brokenwing that's wonderful! You're happy aren't you?" He mewed, sounding equally as anxious.

"Thank you, Lightningstar." Ghostscreech mewed, dipping his head to his former mentor. Some of his doubts had now been calmed thanks to his talk with Lightningstar and he felt a bit better about the future now. Ghostscreech leaned down and quickly finished his portion of the squirrel before nudging the rest over for Lightningstar to finish. "Lightningstar, do you really think hunting in the Twoleggedplace is a good idea? I know I was the one that suggested it, but I can't help but be worried about something going wrong. What if we run into the same rouges that attacked us during your exile?" He asked, changing the subject to the Twoleggedplace. The deputy didn't want to think about his upcoming leadership anymore, content to talk about the clans more current problems instead.

Hollowpaw flicked her tail in excitement, turning her head in Yellowpaw's direction, "What do you think would impress the Clan the most?" she asked, trying to think of the different kinds of prey they could find.
"Our leader was your mentor?" Lionkit mewed excitedly, wondering what it would be like to have a leader as a mentor. "What was he like?"
Brokenwing gave Flamesky a relieved smile, feeling happiness burst in her chest to see his excitement, "I-I am. I am happy about this." She purred, pressing close to him. "I guess I was just a bit nervous about telling you. N-not only that, but I am a bit worried about what they would think when they see me." she added quietly, looking down at her paws. Brokenwing knew her face wasn't something a kit would want to see when they opened their eyes, and she didn't want to be the one that would scare her kits.

“Lightningstar was Lightningfur, back when I was named his apprentice. At the time he was pretty young for a first-time mentor, and I had never been more excited in my life to become an apprentice with Peachdapple at my side. This was before she became a Medicine Cat apprentice. I was his first apprentice…” Yarrowcloud mewed with a hint of pride, and plenty of love.
“He was the best mentor a kit could have asked for. I was loud, and full of energy. He was calm, had alot of patience for me… but I needed him more than I knew, and he taught me everything about what it meant to be a Warrior.” He smiled lightly, wishing he could say just how much Lightningstar did to take him out of that dark, awful place when he was young. “Your mentor, if they are good to you, becomes ones of the closest cats you have. Even now, not a day goes by where I don’t want to make him proud, or happy.”
He paused at Tansykit’s question, eyes darkening. “As for Adderstar and Robinstar, they manipulated their clanmates, and were supported by very dark and evil cats, who come from a forest darker than the night sky.”

Tansykit's eyes grew wide and fearful, looking up at the sky like Adderstar may appear at any moment. "Are those cats still here Yarrowcloud?" she asked in a tiny voice, scooting further into the elder's fur.
Twilightkit looked at Lionkit, pawing at him playfully. "Lightningstar's gonna be my mentor! Maybe you can be trained by Ghostscreech. He's really cool too."
Flamesky pressed against Brokenwing, his heart dropping at her fears. He remembered back to the days when she was Shadepaw. When she was never concerned with how she looked and she seemed to be full of confidence. He had envied her then as a younger apprentice, looking up to her. It saddened him that no matter how much he reminded her that her scars didn't change who she was, she never truly seemed to believe him. "Brokenwing, you'll be their mother. It won't matter to them what you look like, only how you care for them. Your scars will show them how strong and fierce of a warrior you are. They'll be proud to be our kits."

Brokenwing pressed her face into Flamesky's fur, praying to StarClan that her mate was right about their kits loving her despite her scars. It had taken her ages to get the courage up to go and see her mother and younger siblings when they had still been in the nursery, and even now Brokenwing was still cautious about going too near any of the kits. She sighed, trying to shake away her fears as she looked back up at Flamesky, "Peachdapple said I'm not far along, so we have a couple of moons before they arrive." She mewed, trying to change the subject.

They can give you dreams, and invite you in a dark forest. Do not let them guide you there, do you understand?” Yarrowcloud explained to Tansykit, not wanting to scare her but also not wanting what happened to Darkblood and Shadeclaw to happen to her. He couldn’t bear to see anymore kits be taken into such darkness and hate. |

Ghostscreech sat by the camp entrance, having woken up early to see the Twolegplace dawn patrol off. As he waited for the patrol to gather, the deputy was lost in thought. His mind had wandered to the conversation he’d had with Lightningstar last night.
Silverfox was grooming her pelt while she waited for the rest of the patrol to gather, fighting back a tired yawn.
Hollowpaw was following after Scarletpaw back towards camp, her head held high as she carried her squirrel and mouse.

Hornetstrike was up, bright and early, ready to go on the patrol to Twolegplace. With how much prey was brought back, he had high hopes that they would be lucky again. He called for Lightningpaw, knowing that his apprentice would be excited to go on the patrol.
Scarletpaw tried to pad casually with their prey, hoping that the Clan wouldn’t notice them just quickly slipping in. Though, if they did, she felt a smugness knowing Hollowpaw had caught her first prey. Surely they’d reward such a milestone, and she helped to get her there! She glanced back at Hollowpaw and Yellowpaw.

Mist and Pebble sat just outside of Peachdapple's den. Mist's paw was quickly improving; it had been redressed that morning as she'd knocked it in her sleep, but it had been confirmed that there would be no infection as long as she was patient. Pebble had watched carefully when Peachdapple had redressed the wound; Mist almost wondered if he was interested in medicine but had pushed the thought to the side. He's wanted to learn how to hunt, fight, and take care of himself-- he's going to do that no matter what.
Pebble, meanwhile, was wondering when Lightningstar would start their ceremony. he'd hoped it would be today, but had almost wondered if it would take more time. There was no certainty with this-- he had no idea what to make of the leader just yet, though Peachdapple has sung his praises.

Tansykit bounded over to Mist and Pebble looking at them curiously. "Mama says you're new Thunderclan cats. I'm Tansykit, who are you?" she asked boldly.
Twilightkit wandered behind Tansykit, looking at the two young cats cautiously. "I'm Twilightkit." he murmured quietly.

Tansykit's eyes widened at Pebble's statement, "Wow your paws must hurt! I can't imagine walking all day. Does Thunderclan look like where you came from? We're not allowed to leave camp you know."
Twilightkit shook his head, listening to Tansykit ramble on. He was sure the young cats were going to tire of Tansykit's insistent questions soon enough. "I hope Lightningstar does your ceremony soon. I want to watch. Maybe you'll get to go out training with our father and his apprentice Flurrypaw. Blizzardstorm loves training."

"ThunderClan looks nothing like Twolegplace. Twolegplace has large nests that each Twoleg lives in with their own little families," Pebble answered Tansykit.
"The sooner, the better," Mist murmured in response to Twilightkit. "There's no rush, but I do wish it would happen sooner..."

Tansykit scooted closer to Pebble, her fur fuzzing in her excitement "Did you ever see a twoleg? I heard they walk on only two paws. That's so funny." Twilightkit looked over at Lightningstar's den, wondering what the leader was up to. "He and Ghostscreech have been very busy lately with the patrols. I hope he didn't forget already. Lightningstar's an old cat. He's been leader since before my parents were born. I heard Blizzardstorm saying that he doesn't think Lightningstar has many lives left." (I messaged Fox outside of the forums to see if she was around to do the ceremony  ) |

"They do," Pebble agreed. "We've known several kittypets and former kittypets. The Twolegs after gave them milk and some kind of weird food. We've never eaten it, though; until yesterday, we'd never tried anything other than mice and our mother's milk before she died."
"Oh?" Mist perked up. "What do you know about a leader's nine lives?"

Tansykit turned her head to look over at the fresh-kill pile, "Well look at all those options you have now. Thunderclan eats a whole bunch of things. In a couple of moons, I'll get to be an apprentice too. You'll have to show me all you've learned about hunting by then!"
Twilightkit clamped his mouth shut, suddenly looking embarrassed. He didn't know much at all! "Um. I know that when a leader dies, the deputy is sent to moonstone. At moonstone, Starclan gives the deputy nine lives to help them protect their clan and they get their leader name. Since Lightningstar's been leader for so many moons he's bound to have lost some lives by now. Most leaders don't tell their clan how many lives they have left but I think medicine cats usually know. Lightningstar is the oldest leader in all five clans."
