Pantherpaw watched the squirrel carefully. It was bigger thand him. He got closet before launching himself at the prey, tackling it off the tree root, and disappearing behind the root.
Leopardkit giggled and tackled a leaf.

Pantherpaw sat up, the now dead squirrel hanging in his jaws, "Sorry, that was a bit sloppy." He mewed.
Leopardkit giggled, "Let's go that way!" She mewed, pointing in a random direction.

Dapplepaw quietly held a shrew in his jaws, looking up at Nightfang every once in a while. The two toms were both rather quiet, kept things to themselves. Dapplepaw liked the peace of the forest.

"You caught it. That's what's important. You need to stalk a little closer. Squirrels are quick so you need to be very precise in your movements." She explained to him.
"Ok!" Leafkit followed her sister.
Nightfang nodded. "Good job." He meowed.

Pantherpaw nodded, "Okay." He mewed, looking down at the squirrel, "It's big enough to feed most of the queens." He added, looking back up at his mentor.
Leopardkit scampered across the forest, looking around with wide eyes.

Leafkit followed. She heard something behind her though. She turned to see the bushes rustle.

Mapleleaf was laying out in the sun. She suddenly felt a fierce pain rip through her. "Ah!" She gasped out.

Slatesight pricked his ears hearing Mapleleaf cry out, but resisted the urge to go over to her. He assumed that she got s thorn in her paw.

Peachdapple awoke from her nap with a gasp at the sound of Mapleleaf's shout. She snorted.
"AH! Oh, uh, m' awake!" She shook her fur and stood.

"Oh boy. Okay honey, no need to worry." Peachdapple lumbered over to gently soothe Mapleleaf, knowing the queen could not be moved. Luckily, she had privacy in this corner of camp. She hummed.
"Slatesight, dear, get a stick and the herbs, you know the process." She ordered, purring to Mapleleaf.
"I have your back, dear. Shhhh. Deep breaths."

Slatesight nodded, worry in his eyes as he grabbed a stick and the borage he just set down. He brought the stick to the queen. "Bite down when you feel pain," he instructed calmly.

"Yes dear, they are coming. Do not fear, it is always painful for a first time queen...but you are strong, I know you well. Breathe, okay? The first one is coming...ready?" Peachdapple settled to lay near Mapleleaf's belly, the calm Medicine Cat so used to this she had no worry. She hummed.
"Push! Right now!"

Mapleleaf bit down hard on the stick, pain rippling through her. She pushed and a lot was born.

A black and white kit slid out, letting out a gasp as she breathed for the first time.
Slatesight watched the scene with worry, but happiness lit his body as he saw his first child.

Peachdapple easily groomed the kit, though her eyes were conflicted. Were her suspicions wrong if the kit didn't look like...She shook her head, focusing on the strong she-kit as she cleaned her and placed her next to Mapleleaf.
"A she-cat. A wily one at that. Energetic and small." She purred deeply.

Mapleleaf panted. She purred at her daughter before crying out as another kit was born.
Whiteblaze nodded. "Go on, see if you can track something." She meowed.
"There's something there." Leafkit meowed. She cried out when a fox jumped out of the bush.

Goldfeather opened her eyes and looked over at her kits. She frowned, seeing only Ghostkit, "Leafkit. Leopardkit. Where are you?" She mewed, slight panic in her voice.

A red she-kit, not unlike her mother, was next, laying quite still.
Slatesight immediately began grooming the she-kit, trying to warm her up. He was going to help in any way he could.

Leafkit squeaked, terrified. She trumped and tried to push Leopardkit away from the fox.
Mapleleaf leaned over to try and lick the red shekit. She was scared it wasn't ok.

Peachdapple gave a focused frown at this kit, grooming it a little rougher to rouse it. She opened the kits jaws gently and pawed out some of the fluids blocking breathing to allow the kit to breathe safely, like she had done with Dapplepaw moons ago. The medicine cat radiated calmness and focus, signaling for Slatesight to watch and learn carefully. The tom's worst area was kitting, but even now the medicine cat apprentice was getting better and better.

The red she-kit began to breathe, squirming towards the warmth of Mapleleaf.
Slatesight sighed in relief, glad that the kit was okay. "You're doing great," he mewed supportively. "I think there's two more to go. You can do it." He knew his words meant more to Mapleleaf than Peachdapple's, so he aimed to calm her down and give her energy.
