I'd prefer character forms if you don't mind, yeah.
my character has a brother, if that works? he has powers, too, but I can cut those if you'd like me to! I definitely don't mind that.

so, I'm almost done with them both, but I was wondering about what ages we were thinking. they're 22 and 24 usually, but I'm flexible on that so if you had something different in mind that's fine too.

I'm headed off to bed pretty soon, so I'll just leave them both here now. if the age thing changes I'll just go back and edit it.
Renee Rajan // female // 22
ᵒ ᵒ ᵒ Renee has always been protective of people, and not only of those she knows. Possessing what could definitely be classified as a saviour's complex, she's always ready to leap into danger to protect other people. Not only is she careless under pressure, but in most aspects of her life. She claims that since we all die eventually anyway, being cautious doesn't save your life it just makes it boring.
ᵒ ᵒ ᵒ Renee is ruled by her emotions, not the other way around. She feels everything very strongly, and that's not limited to just her own feelings. She's very good at reading other people and their emotions. She's never been very good at giving practical advice but she excels at emotional support for this very reason.
ᵒ ᵒ ᵒ Passionate and strong-willed to the point of narrowmindedness, Renee has trouble seeing things from a point of view different from her own. She can easily understand the emotions others feel about opposing opinions to her, but seeing why is very difficult for her. She tends to be quite judgemental of people that disagree with her, and her temper often gets the better of her when her own opinions are questioned or criticised.
ᵒ ᵒ ᵒ Renee strives to be as kind as possible. That, along with her seemingly boundless energy and warmth towards anybody she deems a friend, makes her a person worth talking to. Definitely a positive for her since she finds very little more fulfilling than a good conversation with a friend.
At 5'8", Renee is rather tall. She has a lean yet surprisingly strong build, a result of hard work gone into making herself physically stronger. When loose, her dark hair reaches her mid-back but she prefers to braid it or even just tie it up in a ponytail. She dresses in bright colours, most often a blouse and jeans, though she doesn't hesitate to knock out a nice dress every once in a while either.
Renee's family consists of her parents and two older brothers, Andrew and Niall, who are two and five years older than her respectively.
Renee has pyrokenesis, the ability to create and manipulate fire. She's rather proud of this fact and loves using it to her advantage, some kind of silver lining type thing, even if she's constantly reminded by her parents and brothers that doing so puts them all at risk. Using it to fly is a favourite pass-time of hers but using it to fight is what she enjoys most simply because she doesn't get to do so often. --- Andrew Rajan // male // 24
ᵒ ᵒ ᵒ Andrew is a quiet and reserved guy, one far more likely to carefully observe a situation from the sidelines rather than get involved. He's very perceptive and easily spots patterns, especially in human behaviour but also in the ongoings of his day to day life. This makes it easy for him to get to know people, and quickly. However, he's a difficult man for others to befriend as he's very private. This is especially true when it comes to emotion as he's never really known how to adequately express them.
ᵒ ᵒ ᵒ Andrew is incredibly hardworking. Whenever he starts a new project he dedicates himself entirely to it and doesn't stop until it's all planned out. However, he prefers to let other people do the dirty work. Running projects administratively has always been easier for him. As a child, that meant roping his sister into doing things for him while he instructed her on the specifics, but now that he has no one to convince to help him, he ends up working hard himself, much to his own dismay, to make sure that none of his ideas are wasted.
ᵒ ᵒ ᵒ Relying on facts and logic is the way to go for Andrew. As a result, he's far more practical than creative. He likes to stick to his ways and rarely strays from routine unless he gets undeniable proof that what once worked no longer does. His fondness for facts and the truth also means he's completely uninhibited when telling it. He's straightforward and honest, putting aside the feelings of others to make his point. Winning a debate is far more important than sparing the feeling of others.
ᵒ ᵒ ᵒ Andrew is very critical, both of himself and others. He wants nothing less than perfection from other people, but he expects far more from himself than anyone else. His competitiveness reflects this perfectly, as does the anger that seems to only rise after a job not perfectly executed. Luckily for him, he's patient; he doesn't mind doing something over and over until he gets it right as long as he knows that he will, eventually, get it right.
Andrew stands at 6' exactly, and he is of average build. He carries some muscle on him but not enough for it to be particularly impressive. Generally speaking, Andrew appears quite put together. His hair is cut short and his clothes are always neat. He mostly wears semi-formal clothing, very rarely does he allow himself to wear something more comfortable.
The middle child of Mahtab and Saanvi Rajan, both the children of Indian immigrants, Andrew grew up with a brother three years older than him and a sister two years younger.
Andrew has hydrokenesis, the ability to generate and manipulate water. However, it's not an ability he likes to use and he would much rather just forget it exists than acknowledge it. He has no use for it in his everyday life so he hasn't used it since his years in the lab.

Valerie ‘Val' Moralas, Age 25
- Val is an acquired taste. She’s got rough edges that often drive people away. With sarcastic remarks and quick wit, she can often get under the skin of many people. Val is known for the way she teases people as can be a mixture of flirtatiousness, bluntness, annoyance, and friendliness. It just depends on who you are and how she’s feeling.
- While she does tend to get under other people’s skin, Val is actually rather thick-skinned. She is usually calm and easy-going with a good, perhaps almost foolish, sense of humor. Even in situations that would cause another person panic, she tends to handle them with a surprising amount of level-headness. Some say she’s courageous and brave, others say she’s foolish and stupid.
- Due to her laid back nature, many people get the misconception that Val is a careless and free spirit with no attachment to anything or anyone. This is actually quite far from the truth. There’s a great deal of past pains and issues that continuously lay heavily on her. She has just become excellent at keeping her problems and pains to herself, using her calm nature as a wall in disguise. Part of the reason she does this is because of trust issues while another aspect is not wanting to be a burden to those she does trust.
- Although it might not seem like it at first, Val is very warm and caring towards those who are close to her. She’d go out of her way to make sure they were happy and safe. Even if it costed her. Her loyalty and love will always reside with those she cares for.
Valerie stands at about 5’6” and pretty average in body structure. She does have a bit of muscle to her as she does practice kickboxing in her free time. Her hair is often down and rarely styled. The only time she seems to change it is when she pulls it back for her kickboxing practice. She often dresses in darker colors and almost never in anything too fancy. She usually just wears a t-shirt and some jeans.
She comes from a rather broken past. Nothing is known about her father and she was taken from her mother's care when she was still very little, eventually winding up in a foster home. Eventually she was taken in by a distant relative. The relative married an abusive husband who already had a daughter, Lily. Luckily, the husband was fond of Val and she was often able to avoid his bad side unlike her poor step-sister and ‘mother’. Eventually she ran away with Lily from the home and hasn’t looked back since.
Lily ‘Lil’ Burr Age 20
- As fragile as a flower and very different from her step-sister, Val. Timid and shy, Lily tends to cocoon herself away from the rest of the world. She may act rather mysterious at times, as she gives out little information about herself. Some find it intriguing while others find it to be quite annoying the way she dances around topics. Naturally her reserved attitude makes it very difficult for her to form any relationship, friend or romantic.
- Since she is shy, many believe she is also naive. Which is far from reality. Lily is well read and was an excellent student when she was still in school. She often acts wise beyond her years and when she does open up, her maturity is often the first thing many notice. She’s also a quick learner and very keen to other people’s emotions. While she might not have the power to read minds, she can definitely read a person’s face quite accurately.
- Lily is very self-concious and lacks confidence. She often judges herself harshly and gets easily embarrassed. Since she gets fluster so easily, it often makes her quite clumsy as well.
- She’s the type of person who find the good in nearly anyone. Despite being pessimistic towards herself, Lily often views others with optimism. She has a very compassionate side to her that allows her to see others in a different light, that might just be brighter than most.
Lily is a small and petite girl, standing at about 5’3”. Her hair is often pulled back in a messy bun or occasionally left down. She often dresses in warm colors and baggy shirts seem to be preferred. She especially loves sweaters.
Growing up wasn’t easy for Lily. Early on, her mother ran away from her father due to his abusive nature, leaving Lily to deal with him alone. He developed a hatred for her as he often associated her with her mother. When he remarried it didn’t get much better as she was often compared to Val, whom he preferred and treated with respect. Eventually, Val convinced Lily to leave with her and the two escaped from the less than perfect home.

“Look, Val, I’m tryin’ to be reasonable. I gave you an extra week to get my money and you failed. Now how can I let that go unpunished?” A large man with a thick beard said with a disappointed sigh. Besides him, two other muscular men stood like statues as they loomed over the smaller girl on the ground. She had a busted lip from where one of the men had punched her with a small amount of blood trickling out. She snorted and looked the leader in the eye. “I wasn’t the one who raised the rate without warning. Punish your self.” she grunted as she slowly rose back up to her feet. The boss twitched in annoyance and glared at her. Val smirked with cocky amusement.
The man shot an icy glare at her and clenched his fists. He ignored her words and instead addressed his two goons. “Make sure she doesn’t ever think about skipping out on payments again.” he commanded then turned and began to head off to his car. “You jerk...” Val muttered as she watched him leave but didn’t have much time to say anything else as a fist was launched her way. She dodged with ease but landed right into the fist of the other man. He hit her right in the middle of her gut and she left her breath leave her for a moment. She quickly backed away as she doubled over in pain. There was no doubt that Valerie could fight back but she was outnumbered and certainly not experienced enough to take on two people.
Val swung a feeble punch at one of the men, who took the blow to the arm. He flinched but was otherwise unaffected. It seemed fighting wouldn’t be of help so she began to look for an escape. They had cornered her in an alley way so if she was going to get out, she’d have to get by them first. Val dodged their next few punches and attempted to slip past them. As she felt someone grab her head, she knew it wasn’t going to work out well. She was slammed back against the brick wall of the alley. Val let out a cry of pain before sinking to the floor. It appeared she’d just have to take the beating as she braced herself as they continued to aim their attacks at her.

( finally, it's on its way! )
Renee knew the warnings by heart. Ever since her escape - or had it been a release? - she'd gotten them daily from the brother that joined her in it and the parents she so rarely saw now. Don't reveal what you can do. Keep out of sight. Blend in. Unfortunately, none of those things came easily to her. It was near impossible to go about her day to day life without heating a coffee or clicking a flame into her hand to light her way when it was dark out. She managed. What she didn't manage was walking past the sounds of a fight.
She stopped, glanced each way, then ducked into the alleyway. What she found was a cornered girl and two men large as trees doing everything in their power to beat her into a pulp. "Hey," she yelled, her fists clenching at her sides. Her blood was already boiling in her veins, heat building up and roaring to escape her. This wouldn't end with her keeping her secrets or keeping out of sight, it seemed. "Why don't you try picking on someone your own size? Look there's a perfectly good candidate right there!" She gestured between the two, a smile on her face. It wasn't warm, it was feral.
She knew how to fight, at least. She wasn't diving into the deep-end. Even before she got out, she'd started learning. Her stance, tight and controlled, proved as much. She may be smaller than both these men, but she wasn't going to go down without a fight and she could put up a damn good one.

What warning? She didn't even get a chance to take him up on the offer before she was forced to duck, dropping her core down to let his fist miss her. There was no way he was putting everything behind that punch or it would have struck her, but that didn't mean she'd do the same. She could see why he'd underestimate her, but there was no reason for her to do the same.
Just a punch wouldn't do much damage. He was built of brick and wouldn't move if the earth shook beneath him. She aimed one at his gut anyway, the air around her fist catching alight as it moved towards him. She hadn't needed to think about it, her blood ran so hot and her head was caught up in the fight she'd stepped into that her skin simply caught fire of its own accord. The brief moment of panic as she realised what had happened was quickly replaced by adrenaline and relief. She had the upper hand here, no matter this man's size.

( alright, thanks ^^ I'm probably going to disappear pretty soon, it's late and I should be getting to bed pretty soon. )
Renee took a deep breath, watching the flames on her skin flicker and die. "Of course. I'm always happy to set myself on fire." She gave another smile, this one containing very little malice and instead overflowing with warmth. She waiting for another moment to be sure that she wasn't burning anymore, then moved to stand beside the other girl. She held a hand out and raised a questioning eyebrow, silently offering her support.
"I'm Renee, by the way," she said. "Figured you should know seeing as you just saw me catch fire." Despite the panic that was slowly returning, she kept a lighthearted tone and a smile on her face. Her energy was focused on the girl, which was just as well or she'd be kneeled over and vomiting somewhere from the terror that should be creeping up on her. She'd just done what she'd promised never to do, and she knew it would bite her eventually.

Renee let out a breathless laugh. An alien? That was a first. It was only small, a question that for once demanded an actual answer but it was a distraction and she was grateful for it. She shook her head, regretfully, almost. "No, I'm quite human." She lowered her voice to a whisper and leant forward a bit, as if she were going to share some massive secret, then added: "that's what they told me anyway". She straightened with a wink. Nevermind that it was true.
"Let's just say my origin story doesn't involve crashlanding on an alien planet, watching my parents be murdered or... I guess the radioactive spider wouldn't do much for this fire thing, huh? Burned by radioactive flames?" She shrugged, deciding that her point had been sufficiently proven. "Think Captain America and you're halfway there." Should she be saying any of this? No, probably not. But she was in too deep, declining to answer now would be as bad an idea as any.
"But enough about me. You need help. Look at you. I'll tell you everything you want to know, but you have to let me take you somewhere someone can take a look at that." She gestured to the girl's ribcage.

Renee stumbled under the sudden weight but caught them both before they tumbled to the ground. She slipped an arm under Val's shoulder to prop her up better, then shook her head a little. "Just some broken ribs? Dear god," she said, mostly to herself, but she didn't press any further. If all Val wanted help with was getting home, so be it. She started to walk, slowly, out of the alleyway and back onto the far more crowded street. "Which way?" she asked glancing from side to side and then letting her gaze finally land on Val.
This whole thing was a little ridiculous, she thought. She had some questions of her own, like why two giants were beating the girl up, for a start, but what really confused her was how easily Val just accepted what had happened. Most people responded more like the men or with unjustifiable anger, like Renee herself, but Val had done neither. That was a positive, of course, but it went against everything she'd come to expect and it haad her head reeling.

(Sorry It’s been a bit crazy for me this weekend xD I’m back though!)
Val gave Renee a sheepish grin and followed along side her. Needless to say she was grateful for the slow pace. “Right. It’s in that apartment complex.” She answered, gesturing with a nod of the head towards the building. As the two continued on, Val figured that Renee likely deserved an explanation for why she was getting beat up in the first place. Also a proper warning about the goons was likely in order. “Sooo.... about what you just saw... Those two guys work for a powerful loan shark. He’s got quite a bit of pull in this town... I’ve been paying him off for a while now but that jerk suddenly raised his payments to a price I can’t meet. Pretty sure he has a grudge against me but that’s not important. Anyways, he dragged me down the nearest ally and then well you can probably fill in all the rest by yourself.” Valerie said with a casual shrug.
She fell silent for a brief moment before adding with a more serious tone. “I’m grateful for the help but because of it, you’ll need to be careful. He’s got power and I’m sure those two guys won’t just forget about you. And this is me just assuming, but I imagine with your.. power, you’ve got some people after you. Government, crazy lab, whatever. I’ve seen a lot of movies so I’m just going off that.” Val told her with a small shrug. She was rather concerned with what would happen to Renee and also still interested to learn more about her and her power. The girl had been nice enough to step in and save her, Val wanted to make sure that wouldn’t come back to bite her.

( it's all good! gad t see you back. )
Renee nodded, turning to walk towards the building Val had indicated. She listened to Val's explanation, glad to see she wouldn't have to actually ask anything, nodding along to show that she was paying attention. "Yeah, there are definitely some people after me," Renee confirmed, sounding a little resigned. "I'm... not as great at hiding as I'd like to be. You saw how quickly everything went up in flames. Pun intended." She'd gotten used to speaking in this kind of code, using common idioms and metaphors to talk about what she could do without drawing unwanted attention to herself. It was about the only thing she could successfully do to hide. She'd always had a fondness for wordplay.
"You'd think that the movies got it all wrong," Renee commented as she reached the door of the building, pushing it open with her hip. "But they're actually pretty close to most of it. Depends on what movie you're watching obviously, but still. It's pretty funny, really. At least I think so."

"Maybe I should get one, then." Renee commented as she watched Valerie struggle with the door. She eased her hold on Valerie as they stepped inside, immediately relieved she'd done so when a second, smaller girl came into the room. Understandably, she looked worried and anxious. Not a threat, then. Renee gave a small wave using two fingers of her hand and a tiny smile. "Hey. I'm Renee. I got your..." she trailed off, frowned. "I got Valerie out of a bit of a sticky spot."
She shot a look at Val, silently willing her to keep quiet about what she'd seen. She may be impulsive and irrational, but when there was no-one to save she wasn't stupid. She needed to call Andrew and tell him what had happened before this secret spread any further. He'd think it through for her, come up with some kind of solution. At least, she hoped so. But for now, she couldn't let this get to someone whose name she didn't even know.
( so I was thinking maybe Renee gets a call from Andrew who tells her they've been found and so she, in her brief moment of panic, invites him over or something? maybe? idk, do with it what you will. )
