"Only if you want to. I don't want to make you do something you don't want to do…" Lightpaw responded, not knowing which would be better. To go directly to camp, or to hunt before returning. Suddenly an idea made her ears perk. What if they could split up to hunt? Then she could get some freedom to roam through the forest, alone. Now the idea really appealed to her. "I wouldn't mind, I suppose…"

Lightpaw nodded quickly at that, and for once she actually seemed excited. She hesitated before leaving, not wanting to be the first one to leave the group. Once she was out of sight, she felt like something heavy was lifted off her chest, and she bounded further into the forest with ease. The dry weather wash't too good for the mushrooms around here; she noticed as she bounded by.

Hollowpaw walked away as well. Ebonypaw figured he could hunt around this area. His nose was to the ground for a moment then he sniffed the air. In the distance he could smell the faint scent of mouse. He followed the scent for a little while. Unfortunately he only found the rotting corpse of a mouse that must have died from lack of water.

(Hello all! And sorry for the poof! ^^)
Lightpaw closed her eyes and focused on the sounds and scents of the forest. There were few bird songs, and the forest seemed to have some heavy, depressed feeling with only the rustling of leaves to comfort her. She opened her eyes and moved on. There had to be something somewhere… As she walked, she thought of her little travel with Ebonypaw and Hollowpaw earlier. She rather despised how she had acted with them. If she'd just kept her mouth closed, she wouldn't be regretting anything. A scuffle in a bush about three tail-lenths away caught her attention and dragged her from her thoughts. Dropping instinctively into a hunter's crouch, she sniffed the air, opening her jaws as she did. It was a thrush… She could begin to see it through the leaves, as she crept forwards. The dry leaves that littered the ground of the area made it difficult to find good paw places. Once she was close enough to leap, her paw crunched against one of the leaves, and she froze. The unhealthy looking thrush burst from the bush, and flew away and into the trees. The reddish-cream she-cat hung her head in shame. She knew she should have lunged, but it all happened so quickly and… It was gone.

Eventually Hollowpaw found himself with only a single vole clasped in his jaws. Ebonypaw had captured a small mouse after finding the dead one earlier. They were going to be meeting back up in maybe ten minutes. After carefully burying his prey Hollowpaw sniffed the air once again to see if he could find something else. (It's all good ^^ )

Lightpaw took in a deep breath and moved on. Her eyes scanned her surroundings, with no success. Heaving a sigh, she climbed a leaning tree and onto another. Finding a nice branch, she settled down and looked around with a bird's eye view. She saw movement somewhere below and froze. One of the black apprentices tread below. Lightpaw realized she must have circled around.

Ebonypaw wandered around for a little while until he found himself standing under a tall tree. His ears pricked as he saw a dirty looking bird near the base of the tree. Crouching down he moved forwards. Suddenly the bird looked his way and jumped into the air in alarm, flying near the branches.

Lightpaw's eyes widened in alarm the bird flew right in front of her. Instinct took over and she leaped out of the tree, her outstretched claws sinking into the bird. It's wings batted at her head as they fell through the air. Defying the oncoming shock of the blows to her head, she heaved upwards and bit down on the bird's throat. They hit the ground moments later, the bird taking the brunt of the fall, before both bird and cat tumbled over the ground. "Why did I have to go for that bird…" Lightpaw groaned to herself from her position on her back, the bird laying beside her.
(Aw man… My characters keep falling from trees. XD)

Ebonypaw watched the chaos go down in front of him. Literally. After they landed he walked over and pawed the bird, it was most certainly dead. Turning to the she-cat he asked "Um... I would ask if you are alright. But you don't look alright." he walked over to her and hovered over her for a moment and asked "You alive?"

Lightpaw pawed at the air to prove that she was still alive. "I'm alive," she sighed, her voice sounding slightly strained. Rolling to her belly, the she-cat slowly got to her paws. She wavered slightly, and now kept her left paw completely off the ground. "No, no, no, no!" Lightpaw limped over to the bird. "It's going to be all bruised!" she wailed.

(That would be perfect. XD I personally think Lightpaw's fall was more epic. The bird's wings in slow motion, flapping against her head. An exaggerated sound effect each time they make contact.)
"I suppose you're right…" Lightpaw tensed at first at Ebonypaw's touch, but then relaxed. "Thank you," she murmured, offering him a little smile. She bent down to pick up the bird, but staggered; still weak from the shock.

Ebonypaw steadied her with a paw and waited until she was standing once again, bird in jaws. Nodding, he padded back a while and found the mouse he had caught. He gestured with his tail for her to follow. It was time to head back.

Lightpaw appreciated Ebonypaw's help; maybe he thought of her more than a nobody. As long as he didn't hold any expectations to her… She dipped her head at his beckon, and limped after the black tom, the bird in her jaws.

Hollowpaw was already back when they made it to the clearing. He nodded, pleased that each apprentice had a piece of prey. "Good job guys, we can head back to camp now if you want."
Vesper was wandering in the woods and was nearly knocked over as a fox came sprinting through the woods in a panic. Jumping to the side he watched as it yelped in surprise and continue through the woods. Weird...
