Bluebelle's head jerked up from her paws when she heard voices. Judging by how loud they were, they dogs were close. She quickly back quietly away into the ferns, but a sudden pang in her belly stopped her. What if they had food? Maybe they would be kind enough to give her a bit, and she did need someone to take care of her. She crept out of the ferns, licking her jaws nervously, her eyes full of hope.

Bird raised her sleek gray head at the subtle rustling of the ferns, and quickly went over with wide brown eyes. "You look quite hungry, pup." She mewed with a slight hint of surprise in her voice. "I''ve got to catch you some food! Anyways, what's your name?" The swift-dog asked quickly, her voice slightly soft when talking to a dog like this who was younger than her.

Bluebelle looked up at Bird with wide, brown eyes. "M-my names B-Bluebelle." She replied quietly, shuffling her paws. "And t-thank you, I haven't eaten much the last few days..."

"No problem. Pine, could you do the honour of staying with this pup?" Bird queried briskly, not waiting for an answer and quickly slinking into the forest. She almost immediately picked up all the rich scents of prey and felt a small pang of hunger herself. Bluebelle needs it more than me. She thought with a shake of her head, deciding to follow that of a delicious rabbit that had strayed from its normal habitat. Smiling to herself, the slightly young dog shook her head silently and crept around trees, finally seeing that plump animal tucking in on some leaves and not paying attention to anything. She bunched up her legs and bounded after it, feeling the wind rush in her fur as she chased the rabbit and quickly caught up. With a bark of triumph, the swift-dog sank her claws into it and shook it in her jaws, carrying it back to Bluebelle and feeling quite proud with herself. "There. Will that suffice?"

Bluebelle could hardly believe it when Bird dropped the plump rabbit in front of her. She nodded, and after barking a quick thanks, she pounced onto the rabbit and tore into it, savoring the rich, meaty flavor.

"Hey, where did you come from?" Bird asked curiously. "Just wondering, because it's probably not the most common thing to be a pup alone by yourself out here." She explained, sitting down for a moment and scratching her ear with her hind leg.

Bluebelle licked the last of the rabbit from her jaws, her stomach now comfortably full. "I lived on a longpaw.... ranch, I think it was called. I don't really know much about it, only there were lots of other dogs there, and they trained them to herd sheep and cattle. There was a fire, my mother-dog escaped with me, but she died soon after, she got too many burns, I guess...." she let out a whimper when she remembered her mother-dog. "That's why I'm alone, your the first dogs I've seen since my mother-dog died."

(Sorry for not replying until now. I'm on vacation which means I'm on mobile. Mi can't color code right now, but once I get back, I should be able to color code normally.)
Pine looked at the pup and then at Bird. She let Bird talk to the pup as pups already enough made her nervous. She listened closely, wondering what the pup would say next.

"Oh, that's unfortunate." Bird mewed sympathetically, trying her best to not startle or frighten the pup. "Well I'm glad we found you when we did. You can travel with us if you'd like. Pine, are you alright with that?" She asked. "We can't just leave her here. I don't think she can even hunt for herself.."

Pine perked her ears. We're already traveling together? She then thought on how she didn't mind that and the company of dogs were much better than no dogs. Her heart lifted out of her chest and she gave a sloppy grin.
"'Course she can."

"Wonderful! Are you alright with that, Bluebelle?" Bird asked breezily, letting a little yawn slip out of her mouth casually. "Y'know, it's kind of funny. We're almost like a little pack! The other funny thing is that I just met Pine, right before you, Bluebelle. I suppose we're officially traveling together." She remarked with a wag of her tail.

"Well, I suppose that's good. We're officially traveling together." Bird chuckled, shaking out her fur and tentatively lifting a paw. "Shall we get going now, or..." She ventured with uncertainty in her voice.

Pine chimed in, "I believe in Spirit Dogs. I believe that they'll lead us somewhere far and I've heard stories of different kinds of paradise." I'd like a place with good hunting, a good camp and no threats at all and if that's paradise, count me in! Her heart pounded in her chest as she looked at her two new buddies.
"I'm probably spewing stuff, but it doesn't matter. Bird, we'll raise this pup, but first we have to find her a good home."

"Spirit dogs.... My mother-dog used to tell me about them. I only remember the Wind-Dog, who used to run so fast, faster than any swift-dog. I hope we can find a wonderful place to stay. Where should we look first?" Bird asked, almost like a pup again when she remembered the old stories she used to hear with a fond smile. She now decided to look at Pine for guidance on where to find a home, not knowing much on the subject herself.

Pine flicked her ear. "Anywhere with a running creek should be good." Creeks were good water sources which almost always had fish to eat in them and Pine knew a thing or two about catching fish. It wasn't only that either as long as there was a water source, there'd always be more animals to eat.
Maybe dogs would be there.
"Do you have ideas?"

"Not at the moment. Creeks have prey and water, so that would be nice. I travelled by one recently, I think it's down that way." Bird mewed uncertainly, turning west and gesturing there a bit vaguely before looking back at Pine. "It would be wonderful if there were nice places to run..." She murmured softly to herself, but shook out her fur. "Of course, that's not necessary."

Pine heard the comment that Bird said to herself and a feeling of discomfort struck through her and she started to worry so she let out a soft bark and turned to Bird with widened eyes, a low head and tail.
"But of course, we can find a place where all three of us are happy."

"Yes. I hope that all of us will like the place we find. Shall we get looking soon? It'll be good to get going as soon as possible." Bird asked briskly, impatience slightly creeping into her voice.

Pine looked toward the sun. "Where do we go from here?" She then looked around, observing. What have I been doing before I met Bird? Pine was just walking from her destructive city, didn't know what directions to take nor where to go.
"Follow me," she woofed before walking to the direction that was opposite to the sun.

Bird "Do you know where we're exactly going?" She asked uncertainly, pausing and lifting one of her long front paws up tentatively before padding along with Pine. "Well, never mind. I trust you." She said with a small shrug and smile. "I really do, I promise. I'm sure we all need a place to stay, so you must be leading us to a wonderful place."

Pine barked a laugh, "I don't where I'm going, but we need to start somewhere if we are to find the perfect territory." She wagged her tail once, twice and her ears perked as she sniffed the pine scent of the woods. She knew where she was at, Ice Wind was not really a thing as snow never even touched the grass covered ground.
"Thank you for trusting me," she woofed.

"Of course I would trust you, I always trust dogs." Bird replied simply, pawing st the ground. "Bluebelle, shall we leave now?"

"I'm fine with leaving now!" Yapped Bluebelle, her meal giving her energy.

"Sounds good." Bird replied with a curt nod, stretching her legs and blinking. "Sooo.... What are we waiting for?" The swift-dog asked, tilting her head and pawing at the ground with clear impatience.

Pine nodded toward the right, away from the sun. "Let's go," she said with a small bark and a lazy smile. Her heart fast in her chest, but all the same she could feel a longing toward of ache about her old friends, destroyed and turned into ashes and embers. She started to feel nostalgic as she looked at Bluebelle and Bird.
She started making way, deeper into the woods.

Bird smiled in response, swiftly trotting into the trees and catching up with Pine in a short moment. She took a few moments while padding along to enjoy the sunlight dappling the forest floor and the birds that flew through the trees, carefree and happy. She lowered her head and thought about how wonderful it must be to become a bird.
