While the movie does have a chance to be bad (all movie adaptations do), has anyone thought that it could also do things right by correcting mistakes and filling up plot holes in the books? I don't actually much care if they change things - drastically, even - to make it work, that's why it's called an adaptation. People really should stop getting so triggered over these things. Why should a movie be an exact copy of the original work, anyway?

It's certainly possible. It would certainly fix a lot of the name typos

I definitely agree that they can take out parts of the books and it would still be a great movie. For example, Snowkit, Speckletail's kit, didn't play a big part in the series, he was sort of just there to make Speckletail realize it was time for her to go to the elder's den after he was carried away by a hawk, so things like this could be not be in the movie, and it wouldn't really matter. I just think that not every detail needs to be included in the adaptation. I also don't know if the movie is going to be covering the whole first arc, or just Into The Wild, so the amount of scenes they need to cut out will vary.

I'm assuming it'll either be the whole first arc or the first three books.

It's most likely going to be just the first book.
