Dylan swung himself around to the front seat and planted himself for the time being. He listened to Sinopa and nodded understandingly. "Alright, totally fine. There's plenty of us to take turns, you don't need to if you're not comfortable." He grinned with two thumbs up, then swiveled around to face the wheel. He whistled and fake steered, already bubbling over with joy. The constricting fines of his household didn't apply on this bus, and it was enough for him to be completely content. "Um, well, I supposed we can hang a curtain in the back for privacy." To be honest he had not thought ahead about that bit. He already planned on bathrooms and showers being any rest stops they took along the road, but not any sort of coverage for day-to-day things. He was not so much of a pervert as to expect the girls to be okay with that. "Actually, I brought a shower curtain just in case any of the rest stops were open-bath, but we can use it for this instead."
Carly plopped herself down across from the group. She looked up at CJ and stuck her tongue out playfully after his whisper. "Aw, come on. He can't be that bad. And he looks like a happy little baby up at the wheel already." The word 'baby' sliced through her heart faster than a hot knife. Her facial features fell grim for a second. I need to stop being so careless with words. Quick enough to not be so noticeable, she returned to a comforting smile and laid down, putting her pillow over her face. "Well, I call not doing the night shift if there are going to be any. This girl needs her sleep."

Sinopa nodded and smiled at him. "Thank you," she said as she pulled out her phone from her jacket pocket. She opened up the message she had from her mom that was just a picture of her with Ezri. She smiled more and saved the picture to her phone. "Ah, but if there is a working kitchen or we find the opportunity to cook I can cook for everyone. I picked up cooking and I must say I'm really good at it." She pulled her jacket back onto her shoulders and as she did she looked at Carly. In that instant she wondered if she had seen a change on the girl's face but ignored that as her phone vibrated again in her hands. "Ah, is there a place to charge my phone? I swear it was at a hundred percent when I left to come here. I need it to study and stuff too."

Dylan was wondering why Sinopa was on her phone so much since she arrived, but decided it was probably just being pestered by parents. He wondered if his "parents" were worried about him, or if they would try to contact him this summer. All he left them was a voicemail saying he wasn't coming home for the summer. No extensive reply, just an 'Okay.' text. He shook off the disappointing feeling and went back to grinning, glad to answer any questions his friends had about the bus. That counter, sink, and microwave in the back are definitely functional, and I brought two hotplates for us to use. Also you can find outlets along the walls behind the bunks." He double checked the pull-out beds to make sure he was correct, then nodded contently.

Good then I can make as many calls as I want, Sinopa thought as she sat on the bed next to Carly and pulled up the pictures she had of her daughter. She had never been gone for more than a few hours and she was already missing her greatly. Since she was on her own with Ezri, the bond the two had formed was stronger than most. Hopefully things would be fine and if not Sinopa could just blame her mother for talking her into this trip. As she swiped through the pictures, her jacket sleeve began to fall down towards her elbow, exposing the scars that lined her arm and she quickly pushed it back up to cover everything up. It had only been a few seconds but it was enough time to be noticed if someone had been looking. She mentally cursed herself for not being careful and hoped no one noticed.

CJ took this moment to claim a top bunk, picking up his previously discarded suitcase and tossing it onto the bunk. He then turned and placed the plate of cookies in the kitchen area. Heading back to his newly claimed bunk he jumped up and stretched out, much like a content cat, using his boxy suitcase as a rather uncomfortable pillow. Yawning a bit, he surveyed the group a bit, a half smile on his face. This certainly was going to be a fun trip.
Rosaline picked up her duffle bag and climbed onto the short bus. Her brown eyes widened quite a bit as she looked around the now, rather crowded place. "Woah. This is incredible!" She exhaled, clutching her bag to her chest. There were only a few bunks left open and she took this moment to claim one, setting her bag down carefully and then sitting on the edge of said bunk. Her eyes were still wide as she stared around in wonder at where they were going to be living for the next couple of months.

Aiden looked around the interior of the bus quietly, running his fingers through his sleek platinum hair. "I don't know how incredible it is," he chuckled, glancing sideways at Rosaline. "But it'll definitely work. And I can drive anytime. I'll take the night shifts if nobody else wants them." Night was Aiden's favorite time of day, and driving during that time would give him an opportunity to spend time alone with his thoughts.

Rosaline looked over at Aiden and smiled, "But of course it is! At one point this was just a boring little vehicle with seats that were probably not very comfortable, but now look at it! It's got a bunk for everyone and a little kitchenette! That's incredible!" She smiled, her chest just about bursting in her excitement. Taking a deep breath she leaned back against the wall and rolled her shoulder blade back until it popped.

{{ LMFAO "di.ck" is autocorrected to Richard on these forums. that's hilarious. btw that's just the name of the burger place no worries }}
Carly lied down on her top bunk, kicking her legs up on the end bedpost. She smiled contentedly, closing her eyes. "I forgot to ask everyone, do you want to hang out in the city for a bit or get on the road? We're in no rush, obviously, but I thought I'd ask." She rolled onto her side and scooted to the edge so she was able to see everyone. She smiled to herself. Their little group was by no means impressive, especially when on an old bus, but still. It was theirs and that's what made it special.
Dylan yawned and moved to the back, sitting on his own bed. "I really don't care what we do. I was sorta itching to get on the road but maybe we can grab some food first?" He knew Di.ck's was only a ten minute walk away, and the thought of greasy fries and cheap burgers was making his stomach growl. Of course, this giant was always hungry, but didn't quite display his ravenous appetite as much as the feisty Latina did.

Sinopa thought for a moment before nodding. "Sure, I can eat," she agreed. She could call her mother to talk to Ezri while out so it was a plus. She accidentally set her phone on sound as she set her stuff on a top bunk and climbed up. Once she was on her bed, her phone pinged loudly causing her to blush. She ignored it for a moment as she searched her knapsack for her medicine and cursed somewhat loudly when she didn't find it. She pulled her duffel towards her and began to unzip it when a prescription bottle fell out and onto the bus floor, causing her to curse more under her breath as she began to climb down.

{{ apparently i can fit twenty cheese doodle balls in my mouth. i learned something new today c: }}
Anastasiya felt at home here, the cheerful banter between everyone was a familiar background noise. "Food sounds good to me," she mused. "After all, Carly's probably gonna clean us out of any snacks pretty soon, so maybe it's the best bet to stop by a gas station or store?" She suggested, glancing up at her friend with a cheeky grin. This, this was what she missed so much. It felt so good to be back.
Xzavier rested his chin on his hands as he sat on the bunk above Anastasiya, a goofy grin on his face at her comment. "Food and snacks." he echoed, taking in the bright, friendly aura that surrounded all of them. It was good to get away from home, his friends would prove to be a wonderful distraction from the morbid thoughts he would have whenever he passed Layla's room. He played with the chain on instinct, leaning on his elbows.

Dylan chuckled at the comments, standing up. He clapped his hands together then reached back for his wallet, making sure he had some cash on him. "Food sounds like a plan then! My treat as a homecoming gift," he grinned. The food was cheap anyways, and he wanted to do something nice before they all left. Best to leave on good terms, right?
"Good, I was gonna make someone pay for me anyway," Carly laughed and hopped off her bunk. She was joking, of course, but really... She probably would have asked someone anyways. She paused for a moment when Sinopa dropped her medication onto the floor. It landed with a 'thunk', causing her to look down. Without a word she picked it up and handed it back up to her, not asking any questions, just smiling. She didn't even read the label. Can't be too nosy at the beginning of the trip, but I'm sure I'll bring it up at some point.

Me: lets see how many ways I can reveal Sinopa's secrets in a post lol]
Sinopa wore a grim expression as she hesitantly took the bottle from Carly, her hand slightly trembling. She didn't want her friends to find out. She would have to explain things and it would just ruin the whole trip. They might be wary around her, afraid to trigger anything. Her chest tightened at the thought and she grabbed her bag from the bunk and stuffed the medicine inside of the back pocket with her wallet. Her phone pinged again and she took it out to check the messages. There were two pictures of Ezri in cute dresses with her favorite stuffed rabbit and Sinopa smiled. Her daughter was the best medicine she had but the cause of her problem as well. Her depression worsened when she realized she would be having a child after all. She locked her phone and put it in her jacket pocket. "So, shall we go?"

I also had an idea Ghost; would you be up for Carly hosting some resentment toward Sinopa after finding out later on? just for the reason of her having a child when she couldn't. they'd make up of course and probably bond over it because hating is no fun in the long-term haha }}

I'm just asking cause Sinopa had Ezri when she was 16. I don't know what she used as her excuse, maybe something happened to a relative in another state. I do know that Sinopa went to college out of state and took Ezri with her since there was a program for single moms or something. are we waiting for the others to reply?]

CJ sat up from his previous stretched out position and grinned. "Food sounds absolutely wonderful." He said with his ever so slight hint of an accent. After all, his mother had made him promise not to keep all of the cookies to himself, and if there was one thing he knew it was not to cross that woman. Hopping out of his bunk he made sure not to hit anyone on the way down and clapped his hands together. If there was one thing to get him moving it was certainly food, especially if it was greasy food from one of their old haunts.
Rosaline smiled at the thought of heading to the old burger joint. "I couldn't think of a better way to start off a road trip!" She called, bouncing a bit on her bunk. She had a tendency to do that a lot, bouncing, nervous energy and all. The girl went through her duffel bag, pulling out her wallet and leaving her phone, after all, what was the need when there would be plenty of conversation going around to entertain? Turning around she smiled again, ready to get going as soon as everyone else was ready.

"Sounds like a plan then!" Dylan took his phone out of the charger by his bunk and stuffed it into his back pocket. He made his way out the back emergency exit then stopped, waiting for the others. The nostalgia was already hitting him. It was strange to think the group had been so close before all this. College and going your separate ways introduces so many things all of a sudden that you don't realize what you're missing until it's right there in front of you again. He smiled a little to himself at the thought.
Carly stretched for a couple seconds before swinging her legs to the front of the bed and hopping off. "This is about to be the best meal I've had in ages." Despite having a sports scholarship at her school, she was unable to maintain a good part-time job and pretty much lived the poor college student life. Her parents weren't able to send her much money, so microwavable meals and the free pieces of fruit in the cafeteria were all she'd had for months.

Sinopa closed her eyes as she took a moment to compose herself, the panic from before still gnawing at her through the new pictures of her child. She let out a breath and a smile pulled at her lips. "This might be the first meal in a while that I haven't cooked." She followed Dylan out of the bus and gripped the sleeves of her jacket so that they wouldn't fall down as she lifted her arms up to stretch. "Damn, my back still feels like it needs to get cracked," she sighed as she twisted around trying to crack the part of her back that was bothering her. "Oh well, I guess I must suffer."

Anastasiya somehow managed to maneuver her way outside the bus, stepping beside Dylan as the two of them waited for everyone else to get up from their bunks and head out for food. She had the strangest desire for greasy fast food and junk that shouldn't even be described as "food." "C'mon guys." She groaned, cupping her hands around her mouth to call into the bus. "I'm hungry!" She was excited for the food for two reasons: One, she would get something to eat. Two, she was able to spend even more time with her closest friends. What was better than that? Nothing.
Xzavier jumped out of his bunk, grinning over at Carly. "Nothing beats greasy food." He agreed, "Especially when it's free." He hadn't had fast food in ages, his college buddies always buying him ingredients to cook them dinner with. Not like he complained, he didn't have to buy the supplies. Unlike the average college student, he only had takeout at least once every two weeks. It wasn't as if he didn't enjoy cooking, he loved it. He just wanted a break every now and then. "We better hurry and pick out the best choices before the rest of them drain Dylan of his money like the cash-sucking leeches they are." He joked, speaking to her over his shoulder as he hurried outside.

CJ may not have been the first one out of the car, but as soon as he did get out he was in the front of the pack, walking backwards and already leaving the rest behind. "Well, are we going? I haven't eaten anything since the cookies I ate on the way here." He said, as though the cookies had been eaten ages ago as opposed to around fifteen minutes ago. The prospect of greasy burgers and fries that he didn't have to pay for was just way too appealing. He paused for a moment to let the rest of the group catch up, after all he did have some manners even if he elected to ignore them upon occasion.
Rosaline tucked her wallet into her pocket and followed after their little gang, jumping down from the van onto the concrete. "Do we need to lock the bus guys?" She asked, raising an eyebrow slightly. She bounced on her toes a bit, standing beside the door and waiting for the answer. She was excited to be going to the burger place but leaving all of their stuff in there unlocked... Well, that wasn't as nearly appealing as the thought of a hamburger that she hadn't had in ages. Don't get her wrong, Texas had some fantastic burgers and meat in general, but there was just something about Di.ck's that was just delicious beyond anything else.

Carly licked the corner of her lip in excitement. "Right after you buddy. University has really made me appreciate anything free!" She jumped out the back of the bus, tapping CJ's shoulder playfully as she caught up to Xzavier. She took long strides to make sure she remained at the head of the pack. She looked over at her friend, suddenly curious. "So how has school been? I feel bad for not even making a group chat for all of us." She took note to make one later in case the group decided to separate at a stop on the trip.
Dylan was already speeding toward Downtown, but skidded on his heels to a pause when he heard Rosaline's very valid question. "Shoot! Yeah, that would probably be a good idea." He sprinted back to his vehicle, waited until everyone was out, and then clicked the locking key twice. The horn tooted an interesting sound. He couldn't help but laugh; he hadn't tested that part yet! He sighed and caught up with the others, stepping next to Rosaline. "Thanks for the reminder. I might doom us all on this trip," he chuckled nervously and rubbed his neck, displaying a charming smile.

Sinopa laughed behind her hand as Dylan ran back and she made her way towards the front of the group but not at the very head. As much as she wished she hadn't, Sinopa had forgotten most of her hometown since she has been so consumed by other things. She put a smile on her face and listened to her friends as they walked. There was a nagging inside of her which had been bothering her for some time that she didn't realize until just then what it was. This were her best friends yet they only knew a faรงade. The guilt at none of them knowing anything about her significant was eating away at her. She wondered if this trip was a sign that she should tell them, or just one of them, about Ezri and her depression. But who should she tell? Sinopa let her smile falter as she thought but after a moment the smile regained strength.

CJ raised an eyebrow as Carly passed, an easy grin on his dark face. Now that everyone was coming he felt no need to be at the front of the pack, instead tucking his hands into his pockets he found himself in front of Dylan and Rosaline, next to Sinopa and behind Carly and Xzavier. Glancing over at Sinopa he figured a little conversation with someone who was once one of his close friends was worth his time. "How has after high school life been treating you?" He asked, his lazy smile still on his face. He didn't notice her faltering smile or it coming back, but then again he was now looking ahead instead of at her.
Rosaline smiled at the horn and then at Dylan. "Hey, no worries, I'll be here to remind you to lock the bus and make sure you brush your teeth twice a day and floss at least once." She said, waggling her finger jokingly at the last bit, being as mommish as she possibly could. She bounced along the sidewalk next to Dylan, a bright smile upon her face as she watched all of her friends up front. Oh it was so good to see them. Texas was a long way from home and she had missed Seattle and her friends way more than once. Sure they had all talked some during college, but with so many being so far away well, it just wasn't the same.

Sinopa looked surprised that CJ was next to her, her thoughts pulling her deep into her own mind. She smiled and shrugged. "I just recently finished my first year of college so there isn't much of a change. I've been good though." Liar, she couldn't help but think to herself. She had been in the hospital at least once in the past year alone, though tons of other times since the older boy had graduated before her. Being the youngest in the group had always put pressure on her as she struggled to keep up with her older friends. She was closer in age to Carly but even she was still older than her. "But I'm thinking of transferring to a college in town cause Louisville is too far away and I kinda want a job. I need to be closer to home for that. Though I do have a really good scholarship." Sinopa hoped that CJ wouldn't question what her scholarship was because it was unlikely it was academic since she wasn't the best though not the worst. Sinopa also wasn't in any sports so the scholarship seemed unlikely for her.
