Sparrowleap finally headed to the border between her clan and one of the others, scenting the air and sniffing around bushe to make sure there was no enemy scent or strange scent. ( Let's bring it to the border page. ) ( Owlmoon I suppose we can time skip to after the herb gathering so Mallowbreeze can encounter the kit. ) Mallowbreeze finished picking the herbs with Daffodilstar, and headed back to camp before giving a dip of her head to the leader and parting ways. She carried the bundles of herbs to her den, but stopped short when she scented Eaglepaw by her den with the smell of an unknown kit most likely facing the apprentice. "What...." She began to mew. "I don't think this kit is from our clan, are they?" |

Daffodilstar grumbled to herself. "Thanks a lot." She said it quietly, though, not wanting the medicine cat to actually hear. She continued to search for the mint.

Daffodilsatr reluctantly followed the medicine cat, not proud of the fact that she wasn't carrying anything back. She fought back a wince as her leg started to give her trouble again. Stupid root!

She whimpered at Eaglepaw and the new cat. "Who are you" she said her eyes watery with fear. "Don't hurt me!" she shrieked limping away as fast as she could but stumbling over her leg and attempting to make herself as small as possible.

Daffodilstar heard a cat yowl for help. She speeded up, easily overtaking Mallowbreeze, while ignoring the pain in her leg. "Who's hurting someone?" She looked over to see a small, unfamiliar kit. "Who are you and how did you get into our camp?"

Brokenkit buried her head into her fur, sniffled, and spoke softly "I- im Broken. Atleast thats what my mother said before she left me, and I got injured by a landslide.. and I found this place" she stopped talking and frantically made way for the exit.

Daffodilstar padded over to the tiny kit. "Broken, I promise that none of LilyClan will hurt you. In fact, you can live here if you'd like. We all live like a big family here and take care of one another." She curled around the shivering kit.

Daffodilstar smiled down at the sleeping kit. It was so unfortunate that she was an orphan. I'm going to raise her myself! The fierce motherly instincts had given Daffodilstar the urge to take care of this kit. She leaned down to lick Broken's head.

she coughed up something similar to blood and she looked worst on the instant, her fur was matted and clumbed in places,
she was covered in blood around her leg, and she laid her head down calmly, shivering from fear slightly and she slept..

Daffodilstar's fur bushed as soon as she saw Broken coughing up blood. "We really need a medicine cat over here now!" Her voice shook so much that it was hard for her to talk. Leaning down, she used her tongue to try and cleanse the kit's fur of blood. The salty tang of it covered her tongue's taste buds.

Daffodilstar's tongue was bright red by the time she finished. She stayed curled around the shivering kit, not willing to risk her safety by moving. Deciding that it had been a long day, Daffodilstar herself started to drift off to sleep in the middle of the clearing.

Mallowbreeze looked at the kit with dismay, rushing to her herb stores and going as fast as she could to make some poultices, wipe up the blood that the kit coughed up with leaves, clean the wound slightly, and feed the kit some herbs to calm her down and stop what she was coughing up. She finished her work quickly, applying the paste-like substance that was made of comfrey, marigold, and a number of other common broken leg or joint remedies. Then she parted the fur slightly around the break to see how bad it was. Curable, but it would leave a limp. She got a tigerlily petal from her herb stores, leaving it by the kit so when she woke up she could have it to calm her down. Also poppy seeds the kit could have later to ease the pain.... and one last thing. Splint! Mallowbreeze almost tripped on a log in her den as she was rushing to where she kept some sticks. Feeling around for a good one, she found it and went back over to attach it to the leg with a vine securely but not too tightly.
This was all going on at night, but that didn't matter since she couldn't see anyways. Feeling tired and yawning, Mallowbreeze crawled into her nest and slept peacefully, ready to get up bright and early in the morning to see how this kit was doing.

Broken awoke to find the herbs and curiously tasted them but gagged after consuming them "Ugh" she said and shifted from beneath Daffodilstar. Her leg felt tremendously better and she looked up spotting colorful birds twittering over.

Daffodilstar smiled down at the kit. A yawn took over her jaws for a moment. "Good morning!" She looked down to see all of the herbs surrounding her. Recognizing poppy seeds, the Clan leader pushed towards the kit. "Eat one or two.

Broken nibbled on the seed and pushed away the other one. She felt unnatrually calm as she stood up and carefully moved her leg so she could sit properly. "How come your name is not just Daffodil?" she said her eyes were watery and glassy. she started spitting out questions "why are you in a group?" "Why do your names have odd endings?" the fur on the neck raised as she saw more cats walking around in the area "And why are there so many of you in one place without battling?"
