The Third
Ryker could feel Aki's nervousness and he could even see it in her smile. It bothered him slightly that she was nervous, but he didn't give it much thought. He tried to comfort her with a small squeeze of her hand βSo, can you believe after almost seventeen years of friendship that tonight weβre gonna find out whether or not we are true mates? Do you want us to be mates, Ry? I honestly donβt know if I doβ¦I donβt want to lose our friendshipβ¦Seventeen years weβve been friends.. What if we arenβt true mates? What if our mates are still out there? What happens if one of us finds our true mates? Will we still be friends?βAki rambled; it was one of her nervous ticks that Ryker found to be kind of cute. βSsh, Rave. Everything is gonna work itself out. If weβre mates, weβre mates. If weβre not, weβre still friends.βRyker tried to soothe the antsy she-wolf, but his own mind was chaos as he considered all the possibilities. βBut..Ry, what about your darkness? If Iβm not your mateβ¦βRyker was grateful that Aki trailed off, leaving his deepest fear unvoiced. βIβll fight it. I feel it, Raven, but it hasnβt wonβ¦Not yet.βHis voice was soft as he replied and his stride quickened. It was nearing midnight and he wanted to make it to their spot in the forest before the clock hit twelve.
Rykerβs agitation and uneasiness began to grow and roll off him in waves. He honestly had no idea what he would do if Aki wasnβt his mate. His darkness was growing and he knew without a doubt that he only had a day or two at most before his wolf became feral. The third didnβt question if their relationship would even be healthy for either of them or whether they were equals in every sense of the word.
The pair finally entered the clearing that they had deemed their own. A blanket of nervousness settled over the clearing as they crossed it heading for a large wooden swing that hung from an ancient tree. Ryker had built the swing for Aki when she was just six years old. He remembered that day like it was yesterday. Aki had gone missing from the pack mansion and Alexandru had sent every pack member out to find her. Ryker had been the one to find her in the clearing that would become their own private sanctuary. She had been climbing the ancient tree that would house her future swing when Ryker finally spotted her. Upon seeing him from her perch in the tree, she had growled at him. βMine.β The pup had said and Ryker simply smiled at her. Aki had been a rambunctious pup and even crazier teenager. She had no filter, a wicked tongue, and a love of adventure that more often then not caused her to end up in trouble and that was why Ryker was instantly drawn to her. She had a sort of recklessness that Ryker didnβt. He had to have control in every aspect in his life and when he had met the she-wolf, she had instantly thrown him for a loop and he had love hate relationship with how she always kept him on his toes.
βRyβ¦Itβs midnight.βAki said, drawing the third from his past, as she leaned against the tree that had the swing. Ryker tensed at the news and he stepped closer to the she-wolf. βDo you feel anything?βHe asked, his eyes glowing with his wolf. Aki seemed to be considering his question and when her eyes dropped, Ryker knew. She didnβt. They werenβt mates. As soon as he processed the revelation, a huge weight seemed to settle on his chest, and he became enraged. The rein he had held on his darkness snapped and the wolf quickly took over. βNO!βHe growled as he grabbed Aki just below the shoulders. βMINE.β The third snarled just before he took her in a rough kiss. Akiβs whimper of protest didnβt register. All that mattered to Ryker in that moment was he claimed her. He drew back from the she-wolf but only enough so that he could drop his head and bite her on the neck to give her his mark. βSTOP!βAki shrieked and jumped away from the tree. Aki wasnβt his Alpha yet, but that didnβt mean she was not without power. Rykerβs wolf instantly recognized the power that she-wolf held, but his darkness did not allow him to think coherently. He was, however, able to also recognize that Akiβs wolf was in control. βNOT YOURS.βAkiβs wolf growled, her eyes glowing with her wolfβs eyes and her mouth filled with her canineβs. βLeave.β Rykerβs wolf resisted, he was a very dominate wolf, but Aki was the daughter of the most powerful Alpha. For a moment, the darkness cleared and Ryker was able to process what he had done. He had claimed a female that was not his true mate and not just any female, but his best friend. His mark would stay until Aki found her true mate and was marked by the one that was truly hers. Shame filled the wolf before his darkness took a hold and he became truly feral. Without another sound, he phased and took one more look at Aki before turning and running into the forest.
Ryker let out a long howl of despair and then lengthened his stride. The wolf wanted blood and would not be appeased until he killed something. At the sound of a branch cracking in the forest ahead, the hunter stopped and scented the air. A Canis Lupus was just ahead and Ryker knew that it would not be any easy kill, but the idea of a fight soothed his wolf. He wanted blood even if it was one of his own. The wolf started forward again and increased his stride as he chased after the other wolf. The third easily outweighed and was at least four inches taller then the other Canis Lupus which made it easy for Ryker to catch up to the wolf and when he finally pounced on his prey it was easy for Ryker to overpower the smaller wolf.

I suppose I should work on something for Skylar
I have no idea what to do with her so I'm just gonna go on the assumption that she's Roni's cousin and took a taxi to the castle with her))

Skylar Brennan~
Skylar could say, with extreme certainty, that standing just outside of a castle in Romania was a brand new experience for her, especially when one took into consideration that this particular castle was owned by a pack of werewolves. The werewolf part wasn't new to her, actually; she had spent enough time around her dear cousin Roni to be comfortable with the idea of a creature that was half-man, half-wolf. She'd seen Roni phase, had heard her speak of her inner wolf. But Roni was the only canis lupus that she knew. The idea of being surrounded by an entire pack of them? The thought made her stomach churn with anxiety, even if she'd never admit it. Roni was nice to her, sure, but would the others in this pack be as welcoming of a human?
A cold gust of wind blew across her skin, making her shiver. She thought longingly of the hoodie packed away in her backpack, in the rear of the taxi behind her; why hadn't she put it on before they'd left the airport? She crossed her arms over her chest, rubbing her bare skin to try and warm herself up a bit. She turned to her cousin, about to suggest that they head inside, when she heard it. A low, mournful howl, cutting through the air. She wasn't a wolf-- this she knew for sure-- but the sound of it filled her with a cold fear. The sound was feral. She could tell that much just as well as Roni, even if she had no sense of what that meant. Behind her, a loud slam caught her attention. She turned, just in time to see their driver peeling away from the curb like a bat out of hell. It was clear that he'd heard the howl, too. Skylar couldn't say that she blamed him for wanting to get the heck out of here. Bending down, she picked up her backpack, unzipping it and pulling out her soft hoodie. She pulled it on, grateful for its warmth, before slinging the backpack over her shoulder. "Well, this is creepy. I'm thinking we should--" She turned in Roni's direction, only to spot a charcoal black wolf streaking away into the bushes. Roni was no longer beside her; it was obvious where she'd gone. Skylar bit back a groan. Gee, thanks for the warning, she thought bitingly, staring at the quivering bushes where Roni's wolf had vanished just a moment before. She glanced warily up at the castle before her; should she go inside by herself?
And get savaged by a pack of hungry wolves? No, thank you. That left two options. Either she could stand here by herself, shivering in the cold, or she could run in the general direction that Roni had gone in and pray for the best. Being human, there was no way that Skylar would ever be able to catch up to her werewolf cousin. But hey, it was worth a try, right? Better than standing here looking like a lost idiot.
"But you owe me, Macaroni," she muttered under her breath, using the nickname she'd come up with for her cousin as a child. "You owe me big time."
Which was how she found herself here, sprinting through the woods in the dark with absolutely no clue where she was headed. Brambles tore at her skin, branches snagging at her hair and pulling it from the braid she'd spent an hour putting in her hair that morning. A particularly sharp one lashed across her shoulder, and she winced but kept going, refusing to look at the scratch that she was sure was bleeding. Yes, Roni would most definitely owe her for this. Hearing noise up ahead, she slowed, so that by the time she reached the log that her cousin had so bravely leapt over, she was pretty much just walking. Gasping and panting to get her breath back, she crouched, brushing stray ginger locks from her eyes as she peered over the log into the clearing. What she saw was definitely not comforting. Roni's back was to her, and beyond the black wolf Skylar spotted two more, both male. One looked hurt, and the other looked like he'd done the hurting. Said male was also huge, much bigger than a normal wolf; Skylar guessed from that fact alone that he was a grey. He was also a whole lot bigger than Roni was. Skylar imagined the outcome of a fight between the pair, and a whimper rose from her throat at the thought of the carnage. Oh, god. This is not good. Not good at all.

The Third
The wolf in Ryker was vicious in his attempt to kill the fellow Canis Lupus. He landed a blow to the other wolfβs head with his right forward paw and watched in satisfaction as the wolf crumpled to the floor with blood dripping from its muzzle. At the sight of blood, his wolf redoubled its efforts. It wanted more blood, more pain, and even more death. His ears perked up at the sounds of paws and feet landing on the earth and his wolf howled in pleasure. The more wolves, the more prey, and the more prey meant more blood. The wolf became slightly suspicious as it processed the paws were heavy. Canis Lupus could move without making so much as a sound and the fact that he could hear the wolves coming meant that the wolves wanted him to hear their approach. He growled in warning when suddenly the sound of wolves approaching suddenly stopped. The third whirled to face his fellow pack members taking note of the fact that his Alpha and Luna were in the center and stood slightly ahead of the other wolves. They were the most obvious threat, but he wouldnβt underestimate any of the other dominate wolves. He growled again and pinned his ears as he dropped into a hunterβs crouch.
βRyker. Enough.βAlexandruβs voice was strong and filled with Alpha power as he stood facing his third. What Akiβs power failed to do, Alexandruβs was able to, Ryker growled, but remained frozen in place staring his alpha down. Slowly, his gaze left his Alpha to assess his remaining pack taking into account where the dominate wolves in his pack were and where the fae ambassador was. When his gaze fell upon her, he snarled loudly. MINE. His wolf growled into their newly formed bond. Then, the wind shifted and brought her scent to him, the wolf calmed for a nanosecond, before he was instantly filled with the need to keep her safe and to get her away from the males of his pack. He growled again and then took off at a dead run towards her. βRYKER! NO!βAlexandru snarled, but the feral wolf paid no attention to his alpha, because he had finally found his mate. He stopped just before her and just like he had with Aki dropped his head to bite her in the spot where her shoulder met her neck. He had marked her as his. The third wolfβs howled in victory, but it was a short victory. Ryker didnβt see his Alpha coming distracted by the she-wolf and he went flying when the Alpha wolf slammed into his side. βAlexandru! No. Sheβs his mate.βNiimiβs yell had, of course, been too late. The third was almost instantly back on his feet and stepping between the alpha and his mate, growling. Canis Lupus were extreme possessive and protective creatures and as such Ryker would not be calm until his mate was out of the presence of other males including his alpha.
(Sorry...It sucks! Okay, so now to tie everyone else in.. Ambs, the beta and your girl could be watching..Or maybe your girl could be Aki's friend and goes looking for instead of going with the other packmates?}

The male wolf's attention was almost instantly drawn to Roni, and the look that flashed in his eyes made her flatten her ears and bare her teeth slightly. He lunged forward towards her, and made a move to mark her. Oh, hell no. The she-wolf snarled, jerking her body out of his way. She would not be claimed when he was out of his damned mind. No way. Such things would not occur until they had an adult conversation, when he was calm and very much not feral. The she-wolf growled softly, reaching forward to nip at Ryker's ear, drawing his attention. Calm, the she-wolf murmured into their bond. Ryker's emotions were all over the place, and it was giving her a headache. Calm. His wolf was very much in control, and she was worried that he would do something stupid. She stepped forward, brushing her coat against his, and placed her nose behind his ear in a gesture of comfort. The gray she-wolf growled when her mate ignored her, and she nipped him again, harder this time. She huffed, bared her teeth at Ryker and the rest of the males, and abruptly turned, padding in the direction of her cousin, Skylar, who had just stepped into the clearing. The look on the human's face was full of shock and despair, and Roni padded towards her, chuffing. Time to go, the wolf seemed to say, as she turned to nudge Skylar aware from the very pissed off pack of wolves. The alpha's dominance was washing through the field, and while Roni was able to ignore most of it, her wolf whined and wanted to submit. Roni was too pissed off to even consider it, though, and since Alexandru was not her alpha, she clung to her anger and her pride and strode through the clearing. She glanced at her mate as she trotted by, and snorted. We can talk when you're calmer, wolf-man. Until then, I'm going. Follow me if you like. The she-wolf vanished into the underbrush, and Roni broke into an easy lope, craning her head over her neck to make sure Skylar was following. There was an injured wolf, but he'd heal in time. When Skylar failed to follow her, and instead seemed drawn to the injured wolf, Roni planted her feet, and dipped her head, as if she was going to push Skylar along. Before she could, however, a miracle occured.
Skylar scooted forward, to the injured wolf, and Roni tensed. A pack in which a wolf was injured was dangerous, and just before she could leap forward, snag Skylar's collar, and drag her away, Skylar reached out a hand and laid her palm on the wolf's muzzle. To Roni's immense surprise, she healed the wolf. Oh, Great Luna, the she-wolf muttered to herself. A Romani healer? There hadn't been one of those in a while, and of course Roni's cousin had the gift. The she-wolf huffed and trotted forward, standing next to Skylar. It was clear in her posturing that she would brook no aggression towards her cousin, and would retaliate in kind, if necessary.

Capri attended the meeting when the Alpha called them all, and as always, she listened with the utmost of attention. And of course, she knew that Aki would be mentioned. It was always an exciting night for the pack, when a she-wolf came of age. And even more so when it was the Alpha's own pup. And for this, she knew that it was important to listen to the Alpha Alexandru, making sure that none of the she-wolves, especially Aki, remained alone with an unmated male.
Capri and Aki were relatively close, and Capri considered her to be a close enough friend. They both knew each other relatively well, or at least, she assumed so. They were a number of years apart in the terms of age, but what is time, really, for a werewolf? Eighty-four years is relatively nothing. As a relatively close friend to Aki, Capri knew the other female would not listen to her father, and would be gallivanting around this night. And she knew exactly who she was going to be with. She had kept silent as Ryker and Aki grew closer, and at times Capri had even encouraged it. Nothing had seemed to be wrong with the idea. But as Ryker continuously struggled with his darkness, succumbing to it more and more every day, Capri started to grow wary. What would happen if they were alone together, and he suddenly grew feral? She was concerned for her friend's safety. But perhaps she was even more concerned that Aki would get wounded emotionally. She was still young, and terrible choices could be made.
And so it was vital that she, too, ignored the Alpha's command. She needed to find her, and remain with her until she came to her senses.
A heavy silence fell upon the forest, an occasional night-bird cry or a cricket's chirp interrupting the quietness. In wolf form, she traveled along soft footpaths by scent and the soft glow of the moon. Soft shadows enhanced the eeriness of the landscape, and a cold, unsettling dread weighed down her fur. She wasn't necessarily sure where the two of them would be, but she had the faintest if ideas. There was an area she had seen the two of them lurk off to multiple times before, and this was probably where they would be. Just as she picked up the faintest scent of Aki, a loud and mournful howl shattered the silence. She immediately froze, her head jolting up to examine her surroundings. A snarl escaped from her chest, and she quickened her pace.
The she-wolf burst through the clearing, scrambling to a halt as she frantically glanced around. Spotting Aki standing alone by the large and ancient tree, Capri rushed over to her. She scrambled to a halt beside the female, roughly shoving her nose against the other she-wolf's clothing. She snuffled about a few moments more, before she phased into her human form. "Oh Aki, are you alright?" Capri whimpered, grasping Aki's upper arms gently. An involuntary gasp escaped her mouth, and her grip tightened slightly. "What did that b****** do to you?" Her eyes flashed, her wolf urging to come to the surface. "I'm going to kill him, where did that b****** go?" She didn't care if he had never truly meant it. He knew he wastaking a risk by escaping during the night to be with her alone. And for that,it was entirely inforgivable. The morning would have come soon enough, and he could have known then. Instead, he had put the future alpha in danger. Anger and malice radiated off of her in strong waves, and she turned around to observe the clearing. If he tried to come back, she would be waiting. "Oh Aki, what did he do to you?" She asked softly.

Things started to happen really, really fast at that point. One moment, it was just Roni, the violent wolf, and the injured wolf that were in the clearing. The next, it seemed like the entire rest of the pack burst through the underbrush. Skylar wasn't a wolf, but even she could somewhat sense the waves of power rolling off of the male in the center, and right away she knew that this was the Alpha. The female next to him seemed just as powerful, and she guessed that she was his mate. She shrank down further behind the log, very aware that she was an intruder into his territory and very far from able to defend herself, should he decide she was a threat. Reaching back, she slid a hand into the back pocket of her jeans; her fingers brushed against the reassuring bulk of the spring-loaded pocketknife she carried with her. She doubted that it'd be much use against an entire pack of angry werewolves, but its presence on her person was still a comfort, a security blanket of sorts.
A sudden snarl caught her attention, and her gaze whipped in the direction of the noise just in time to see the original male lunging for Roni, a wild look in his eyes and his teeth bared. Hot fury rose up in the small human, who was so short that this male's head rose well above her waist. How dare he attack her cousin? She sprang to her feet, her fear momentarily forgotten, and scrambled over the top of the fallen log, ready to rip the fur off of this stupid wolf. Luckily for her, however, Roni managed to pull away from the large male, and it was then that Skylar's sense of logic returned. Of course she couldn't attack a fully grown male werewolf. He'd kill her with a single bite, and that was definitely not something that she wanted. She slumped back against the log, her fear starting to creep back. This was fantastic, she thought sarcastically. Now she was in full view of the whole dang pack. She might as well have flipped them off, the way that some of them were looking at her.
A moment later, Roni turned, returning to her side. Skylar obediently stood as her cousin nudged her, absently rubbing her snout as she turned to follow. But then she paused, catching sight of the injured wolf. He was looking at her now, his deep brown gaze sad and mournful. Skylar froze, staring back at the wolf. And then, it was almost as if her instincts took over. She didn't follow Roni, but instead crept further into the clearing, towards the injured wolf. Holding her breath, she glanced up at the pack's Alpha, willing him to understand. I mean you no harm. Please let me help. Reaching the young wolf's side, she knealt, her gaze holding the Alpha's for a moment longer before dropping to the injured werewolf, who was now watching her with a trace of fear in his eyes. Following what her heart was telling her, even though her mind didn't understand, she reached out, gently resting her small hand against the bloody gash in the wolf's muzzle.
To her surprise, she felt something start to happen. Beneath her fingertips, she felt the wolf's skin began to warm up, the jagged edges of the wound beginning to knit together beneath her touch. When the sensation of healing faded, she pulled her hand away. A stretch of pink skin was visible where the gash had once been, the fur around it matted with blood, but from what she could see, the wound was healed. She sat back on her heels, staring at her handiwork in utter amazement. Bloody hell. I just healed a werewolf.
((Okay but how cute would it be if the wolf she just healed turned out to be her true mate?? I cant even omg
Anyway I have no clue how the whole healing process works in canon but I'm actually real proud of this so I'm going with it xD))
