(Dang, Q. He'd better be grateful. You're a good friend.) Alfonse's fist connected into Peter's arm and completely tore it off at the elbow, "Oh no, look what you've done!" Peter cried as he began bleeding profusely from his severed arm. Peter broke out into a huge grin, "Wow! It's like magic, or something." Arcanians preferred to view the world through a scientific lens, and they generally dismissed any notions of magic or the supernatural. However, with what Peter had witnessed since coming to Lamura, the prospect of real magic would come as little surprise to him. Aura quietly padded a few steps into the woods, then looked over her shoulder to make sure Ferra wasn't watching. After she finished what she'd been brought out to do, she bounced back over and stood up against Ferra's leg, wanting to be picked up again. Catori was unusually successful in her hunting, for once. She'd managed to catch a rabbit, and less than ten minutes later, another one bounded out of the hole and she killed that one as well. The wolf now stared down at her two kills, wondering how she would manage to carry them both back with her to the castle. She didn't want any of it to go to waste. Alfonse nodded in agreement. "It is certainly exceptionally peculiar..." A small part of him was disappointed that the "magic" wasn't exclusive to him after all, but he was mostly satisfied that he hadn't been able to hit Peter. Ferra lifted Aura into her arms and set out towards the castle again.

Chase saw the slight blush and smiled a little wider. He quickly realised his cheeks were a little lighter shade of red and he looked away. He then went and started to look through the draws for a knife and a spoon. Delilah watched him as he searched. She munched casually on her own food, and would occasionally glance up at the ceiling or down at her snack, so as not to look as if she were staring.

Aurora smiled and scratched Kiba behind the ears, "Would you rather a room on the first, or second level?"
Peter nodded with a laugh, "Yeah, definitely. At least it means you won't have to worry about that little girl stabbing you." He shuddered, "What did you mean about her not being human? I couldn't see anything from where I was standing, but the room felt strange at that point. Almost, I dunno, haunted or something. It was really creepy."

Alfonse shivered at Peter's statement. He had remembered all too well braving the girl's horrific change just a few moments before, and although he felt a sense of pride at having stood up to her, he wished he had fled as soon as it began. The image of the little girl's empty, cold black eyes, and the black veins protruding from her face wouldn't soon be forgotten. "It may sound odd..." He cleared his throat. "When she became angry, her eyes became black. There were no pupils, no iris, nothing. The eyes were all one shade of black. Black veins began to protrude from her cheeks and forehead. It was quite frightening," he added, as if admitting a sort of shameful thing.

Peter nearly took a step back in surprise upon hearing Alfonse's recollection, as if he expected to see him undergo the same transformation, "That's..." He shook his head, "Huh. I've never heard of anything like that..." He'd studied a few types of non-regular creatures, but this had him totally stumped, "I should find her later and use my revealing lens on her. Maybe that'll tell more about her true nature." He said with a crooked grin. "I'm still puzzled over something I seen on Aurora with it. The results aren't always really obvious."

"In any case..." Alfonse gave a shrug, and took a look around the infirmary. He didn't finish his sentence, but instead approached some cabinets at the edge of the room and began to search. It didn't take much effort for Alfonse to find a few scalpels, and other dissection tools. Thoroughly satisfied, and having shoved thoughts of the child to the back of his mind, he loaded the tools into a wooden basket lying near the edge of the room. "Well, are you ready to head out?"

Peter had spaced out for a moment while Alfonse searched for the tools. At his question, Peter nodded, "Yeah, let me just go get my stuff, in case we need anything." He was racing out of the room before he'd even finished speaking, and was back in less than a minute with his satchel of gadgets slung over his shoulder, "Now I'm ready." He motioned for Alfonse to lead the way.

Alfonse caught the sight of an empty jar out of the corner of his eye, and decided to stuff it in the basket as well. Once Peter had arrived, he ambled out of the room. As he walked downstairs, he fell into step beside Peter, but remained silent for the time being.

Peter was uncharacteristically quiet as he contemplated various things he'd seen and heard in the past couple of days. He wondered what the green around Aurora meant, and what'd they'd discover about the manticore. Above everything else, he pondered Pandora's species, since she was obviously a far cry from anything human. He planned to scope out more of the residents later and see what he might find. If only it came with an instruction manual...

(yaaaaas)
Alfonse retraced his steps, and discovered the manticorpse manticore's corpse with ease. "I'm going to start at its head. If you would like, you can watch, or try it on your own. The trick to a proper dissection is to be gentle, and keep in mind that you want a clean cut in your subject." He removed a pair of medical scissors, and approached the manticore's head. He located a thin, soft place on the skull, and made his first incision. "Perhaps you've already done this during your schooling. I'm not certain how your education system is laid out."

One of the first things Peter noticed about the beast was the smell. He'd never encountered anything like it, since well, he'd never actually been exposed to anything dead. "Uh... Yeah, part of my education involved a similar study, but it was all simulated. We didn't use actual animals." He coughed and held his nose, "Is it supposed to stink like this?"

Alfonse shrugged, and nodded. "Well, yes. When animals die, they begin to decay. I suspect the process has already begun with this one." He tapped the manticore's forehead. "Although, this smell is arguably less harsh than the smell of formaldehyde, which is what we humans on Earth use to preserve bodies, either for burial, or for scientific studies." Alfonse disliked the smell of decaying bodies, but he absolutely loathed the smell of formaldehyde. That was one reason he typically felt opposed to dissecting things himself, unless absolutely necessary.

Peter had never heard of formaldehyde, but doubted anything could smell as vile as... this. Peter took an uneasy step towards the creature, at which point the wind suddenly wafted a large amount of the smell directly at his face. The poor boy suddenly turned a sickly shade of green and scrambled away retching. When he finally made his way back shakily, his face was still slightly green, "I-I'm sorry. I think I'll just watch from a distance. I was never adept at dissecting anyway." His expression was an odd mixture of nausea and embarrassment.

Alfonse gave a chuckle. "Suit yourself." Carefully, he used a pair of forceps to remove one of the manticore's eyeballs. The process was, undoubtedly, quite disgusting. He severed the eye from the dead creature's brain and placed it into the jar, and then made his way down to the creative's tail, where he removed the large stinger, and placed it inside along with the eye. After Alfonse had gathered a significant amount of samples, he placed the tools back in the basket, along with the jar, and nodded to Peter. "Alright, then. We should put this in the ice house outside to prevent further decay."

Peter had to glance away as the eye was removed, and he wondered just what Alfonse was planning by removing and keeping parts of the manticore. However, he was more than happy to leave the stinking creature behind. With hardly more than a nod, he was already heading back. Unbeknownst to them both, something very small and highly mischievous had been observing them closely. As they made a move to leave, it darted off after them. (No skippy back to the castle just yet. )

Alfonse finally gathered his courage and began to speak. The twinge of guilt returned, unpleasantly knotting his stomach. "I must ask, do you have a family back home?"

"Yeah, I've got parents and an older brother. Why do you ask?" Peter replied without looking back.
The insect-like creature was getting closer, but was not yet visible.

"It must be difficult." Alfonse murmured casually. "My own parents and I happen to be on... well, bad terms. I think of them occasionally, however. I sometimes wonder what it must be like to have a sibling."

Peter grew very quiet at his remark, his thoughts suddenly flooded with fond memories of his family, and especially his older brother. If his face had been visible, Alfonse might have seen an ever so slight glint of pain and guilt in the boy's green eyes.
The diminutive flying creature buzzed by Alfonse's ear. It was brightly colored and no larger than a small bee. At first glance, it appeared to be some kind of moth or related insect. The tiny creature flew around Alfonse, studying him curiously. If he looked closer, he would notice a few human-like similarities among the bug aspects.

Alfonse gave a frown and stopped to swat at the creature. After missing it several times, he finally cornered it, and was able to grab it in one hand. Careful not to squash it, he held the creature. halfway expecting a sting or bite to come next.

Peter continued walking, glancing back only a couple of times as Alfonse swatted at a bug.
The frightened creature suddenly found itself imprisoned in the grasp of the giant. Seeing no other alternative, it big into his hand with tiny but very sharp teeth.

Alfonse grimaced as the creature bit down, and, as he was only halfway expecting it, he opened his hand, and when the creature didn't immediately let,go, he began to shake his hand madly in an attempt to make the creature release his hand.

Do you want to do anything with these two?) Chase finally found where the knives are kept and grabbed one out. It had a wooden handle and a sharp blade curving inward. Padding back over to Del he sat down next to her, but not too close. He then began to cut the dragon fruit down the middle.

The rough motion caused the creature to let go, but not before it emptied its stomach contents on Alfonse's hand. After doing so, it was catapulted with great force onto the ground and didn't move.
Peter had stopped to look back, and frowned when he saw the insect drop to the ground. He stooped down to get a closer look at it, and upon doing so, his eyes widened, "Careful, don't step on it!"
Some distance away, another of the creatures played witness to its fallen brethren. It quickly darted away to inform the others of the giant menace.

Alfonse quickly shook the fairy vomit off his hand, although it still was covered in a surprising amount of blood. He frowned at the creature, and stepped closer. While it was true Alfonse felt a slight sense of guilt, the sharp pain in his hand prevented much of his remorse.
(I can't really think of much right now, Cloud. Did you?)

Peter carefully scooped up the delicate-looking creature in his hands. The membranous wings were slightly crumpled and she appeared nearly unconscious in the boy's hands. Peter raised his palms for a closer examination of the sprite, looking both curious and worried, "Do you know what this is?" He asked Alfonse, lifting his hands towards him so he could see her more clearly.
"It is no problem, really. If there is anything else that I can do, let me know. I'll go now to prepare a room for the two of you." With that, she continued upstairs. There weren't many rooms with two beds, and most of them were located on the second level.
