John sighed and said," I know how ya feel laddie I am in the same boat more or less." John then crossed his arms and said," I just don't get how almost every cute girl is already taken." Text ICWait were they all taken? Well he would ask anyways, no sensible girl could refuse him anyways. "Oh I'm sure there's still some left, word of advice though, stay away from the one in the kitchen, she's strange," he added as a word of advice for this John guy. |

"Other cats might help him groom himself. Did he do better when there were other cats around? You're problem may only last until the other cats get her," Charlotte offered, not wanting to mention that a cat that old was probably suffering enough that he should be put down. She knew Kuro wouldn't want to hear it, and so she wouldn't say it. Even if it was probably what was best for the cat. Text IC"Him, Mattie is a him, and that wouldn't be a problem if he didn't hate all the other cats. He doesn't mind them in general but they can't enter his space without him getting all hissy, honestly Mattie is such a difficult cat, I don't know what to do with him," Kuro confessed, though it was clear he was talking lightly, not really all that serious. Sure Matsuo was a bit of a high maintenance cat, but Kuro loved him all the same. |

"Sounds like you enjoy the problems more than trying to fix them. Though I guess many relationships are built on that principal, ant not just ones between pets and owners." Charlotte smiled again, talking lightly just like he was. "I think my own parent's relationship was built on that at some point. Though it was never a stable one." She'd meant in to be a joke at first, and then she'd some how talked herself into the sadder parts of her own past. She had such a bad habit of doing that without meaning to.

Kuro frowned slightly as she spoke. "That doesn't sound very...good," he told her before realizing she probably didn't want to talk about her family issues. Though he would listen if she needed too. He could certainly listen, he was good at it.

"I never said it was good. Though I only ever got my mother's side of it until after she died. But anyways, there must be something more interesting for us to talk about than my parents," Charlotte tried to sound flippant, but found herself looking down at her lap for a moment, trying not to think to much about her mother. That would just lead to tears, and she wasn't about to cry all over a prince she barely knew. If her father heard about something like that, he'd pull her back home in an instant for ruining his-sorry-her chances. She was at the academy to stay out of his way, but if she caused more trouble, well, she wouldn't be staying for long. And the longer she stayed, the better her chances of finding a way out were.

Kuro sent her a reassuring smile. "I'm sorry, we don't really know each other, but I've been told I am a very good listener if you ever need someone to talk to, I won't tell anyone else...well maybe except my cats, but they are very good secret keepers," he told her with a light chuckle before promptly switching the topic to something lighter. "What are some of your hobbies? What do you like to do in your spare time?" He asked, giving another smile, this one a lot less serious.

"Maybe some other time," she said, looking up, though not at him. Then he changed the subject, and she perked up a bit. "I've always loved dance," she answered, her smile coming back just the smallest bit. "Almost anything. Ballet through Ballroom. Though they were somethings I wasn't allowed to study. How about you? What are your hobbies?" Charlotte asked, turning back to face Kuro again. The distraction had done a lot for her, mostly because she'd had a second to compose herself and she was well trained in forcing herself to stop thinking about her mother.

Kuro brightened when she mentioned dancing. "How funny. I too enjoy dancing: ballrooom, salsa, hip hop, swing step, traditional, many different types of dancing. I also enjoy reading, studying, video games, a few different types of martial arts, and of course things like yoga, acrobatics, and parkour," he explained. He didn't have many hobby like talents, instead Kuro had just spent all of his life into studying for school and then more physical activities, mostly because he enjoyed risking things, putting himself in some sort of danger. It was a problem.

"Hip hop? That's one I've never gotten to try. It wasn't considered lady-like." Charlotte shrugged, trying to hold back the slightest frown. "All those other things sound like lots of fun too. Though I don't think parkour is something Ivy Academy wants you to be doing. I think part of their pitch is a safe, private environment," Charlotte joked. "Though I'm not sure about that, I don't remember it exactly," she added after a moment.

Kuro rolled his eyes slightly. "Safe is good until it's boring, than it's just boring," he explained with a slight frown. "I like some risk if my life, otherwise it is all just studies and while I like to study, I need a break from it all, and that is best dealt with something dangerous," he explained with a smile.

"I imagine you only say that because you're ninth from the throne? You feel like there are enough people ahead of you that you can take risks?" Charlotte smiled for a moment, then said. "I'm kidding. I completely understand what you mean. The same thing day in and day out gets so monotonous. I've just never had the courage to do something crazy and dangerous," she admitted, shifting to a more comfortable position in her seat. She'd been sitting curled up for so long her feet were starting to fall asleep.
(I need to go for a sec. I should be back in less than thirty minutes, I've got something I need to do.)

"That might be the case, or perhaps I just enjoy taking risks because they are fun," he added with a chuckle. "But as for having courage. Well it is simple really, up until you are used to it, you can just not think about it. It is what I would do. I would be doing something and I would pretend I wasn't-in my mind that is, until it was too late to turn back," he added, hoping that made some sort of sense. |

"I live far too much in the moment to have courage by just not thinking about it. Though I can see how that would work, if you could take your mind out of your body's context," Charlotte said, considering it. It almost sounded like a simpler version of some meditation techniques.

It was, in a way, like meditation. It was stress relieving, Kuro could at least vouch for that. "Well. Perhaps the problem is that, perhaps you need to focus less on the moment," he suggested with a smile. Though he couldn't say for her, not really since he didn't know her. However he was up for giving advice to people. "It seems I have kept you from your book, my apologies," he told her, looking over at the book.

Though it seems I have kept you from your book, so if you'd prefer to get back to reading, that's fine by me," she responded, following his eyes to where her own book was discarded on the side table.

"Oh, I do not mind. I'm quite enjoying our conversation," Kuro told her as he looked down at his book, he did want to get to reading it. However he was enjoying Charlotte's company, so far Kuro had enjoyed everyone that he'd meant company. He had had his doubts about coming to his school in the first place, since it didn't exact seem like his type of thing, but so far at least, everyone seemed nice, hopefully the classes were well worth it too.

"The first time I ever left Seru was to come to Ivy Academy, but I've always wanted to see more of the world. There are so many fascinating things out there."

Kuro paused, letting out a chuckle. "I'm sorry, at first it felt like you asked me if I had time traveled," he told her with a wide smile. "And I can't say I have, but believe me, it is on my wish list," he told her before actually moving to the real topic and being a bit more serious. "I personally have not spent much time, traveling. I have hardly left Japan my whole life. It is my older brothers who often have done the traveling, this is one of my first times leaving my country. The rest of the world is very different."

Charlotte laughed at his joke, then nodded her head in agreement, "I'd definitely love to try time travelling, though I don't know how long I'd want to spend doing it." Then, she transitioned back to her original question. "We're a bit alike then, aren't we? Two royals who've only been allowed to leave home to go to school. Why'd you come to this school anyway? Other than the obvious reasons?"

"I'm here because I got in my father's way one to many times. He's power hungry. To be honest, I'm only a duchess because he remarried after my mother's death. Before that, I was no more than the daughter of an earl. He's been trying to get even higher, and I didn't want anything to do with it, so he sent me somewhere I couldn't stop him," Charlotte frowned, remembering the fight that had forced his hand. "I'm going to keep trying from here though. If I find a way to never go back home, he can't force me to do anything."

"I see, well in that case I hope that you may find a way to stay away from there," Kuro told her, and honestly as he listened it seemed sort of like to him that her home life was a bit of a mess, far different from his and likely post people who were here in the first place. But hopefully spending some time away would be good for her. This place seemed relaxing enough, hopefully it would help.
