Arabella stood up a few moments after Theodore did. She didn't want to be on the floor while he was standing, it wouldn't appear polite. When she stood, her eyes were downcast and she had her hands clasped in front of her. Was two weeks really all the time they had? Theodore didn't specify if that's the time they should be there without delays, or if that was the maximum amount of time it would take. She wasn't sure if she wanted to find out, it might be best to travel in blissful ignorance until Arabella arrived at the border.
She glanced up at Theodore quickly and then back down to the floor. "I...I'll see you tomorrow then Theodore." Arabella normally didn't call Theodore by his full name, but in certain times she did. Now was a good time to do so. She let out a small sigh, "Have a...pleasant afternoon." She had no idea in her mind how either of them could have a good afternoon, not with the weight of the task set for them fresh in their minds. Arabella's eyes were misted over with tears but she turned to face her window again before Theodore could notice. "I think I would like to be alone for a little while. If you don't mind."
Arabella didn't know why she added on the last part, she knew he would most likely leave her be anyway. Whether he wanted to or not. Dinner was underway anyhow, but Arabella knew she wouldn't have an appetite for it. If she could skip her next meal all together she would, but her parents most likely wanted to cover some things before hand.

Theo woke up naturally at the same time as the sun rose. He glanced out of the windows and he could see the blue sky was stained reds, oranges and pinks as the rising sun painted the walls of his modest east facing bedroom with natural light from the sun. Casting down the coarse brown woollen blanket which covered him up whilst he had been sleeping to his knees he stepped out of bed and quickly dressed himself in the plain unadorned clothes than he had selected for the days journey. They were plain enough that no one would remark on them whilst he was able to move easily and they'd be comfortable enough to ride in for several hours a day.
Fully dressed he grabbed his two handed broadsword from where it sat on his dresser and he belted it on two his hip and sheathed it dangled from his brown leather belt the expensive sword the only break in his disguise as a middle-class merchant. Slotting two leather grieves into the knapsack that he had already filled with two spare tops, several rolls of bandages, five bags of gold that the King had provided so that they would be able to buy both accommodation and food for them during their journeys, lots of food and a long coil of rope tucked snugly in the bottom of the bag. Grabbing a pair of twin daggers from where they sat on a small side table he slotted them into their sheathes which hung on his belt.
Turning round he cast a dissatisfied look around his bedroom, he knew that he wouldn't be able to bring everything that he could considering that they only were able to carry enough to fit onto the two horses which they'd also be riding. Leaving the room quickly he strode down the steps and wove through the corridors quickly taking all the short cuts which he knew like the back of his hand considering that he had lived in the castle since early childhood. Entering the courtyard Theo squinted into the bright morning light as his eyes adjusted to the difference in light from the castle and once outside he walked over towards the stables outside of which the two horses they were taking were tied up outside the stables already tacked up.

Arabella had left her curtains open the night before so she could wake up to the sun rising. And although her room didn't directly face the East, it could still catch the light from its angle. Normally she would have awoken happy and energetic to greet Theodore in the morning before he left to attend to his knightly duties. Now Theodore was the last person she wanted to see, to see him would mean that it was time for her to leave. Arabella was about to get down on her knees and pray that it wasn't time to go, that she still had another year and a half left. But Arabella knew that it wasn't that simple. Her father always said God has a plan for everyone, and she couldn't help but feel almost angry at Him for this plan.
If she could pass off this plan to someone else, Arabella would. But unfortunately, that isn't how the world works, and she would be rendered helpless to change it. Arabella clenched her jaw to keep herself from crying, and tried to make her movements quick as she could to get ready. Arabella wasn't planning on holding up the mission they were sent to a.
She chose to wear a simple blue dress, with a laced back. It was a long sleeve dress, as well as fitted on the top and dropped at the waist. It was plain, but the fabric used gave it a wealthier vibe. However, it was one of the few simple outfits she had that would be proper for the journey ahead. Arabella had already packed her things the night before, and made sure to pack light, the bare essentials.
After fixing her hair, Arabella took a deep breath and wiped a tear that had managed to work it's way out. She exited her room and took the shortest route to the stables. Theodore was already there as she expected, and was loading his things onto one of the horses. "Good morning." She greeted him with a forced smile. This was not a 'good morning', and both of them knew it.

Theo nodded to Arabella as she greeted him respectfully. He couldn't wouldn't say good morning because this wasn't a good morning and he couldn't bring himself to say 'Good Morning' even if that was the polite respectful thing to do considering who he was talking to. Besides he and Arabella were close enough for him to be able to dispense with the formalities and act like he would normally to anyone as if she wasn't the princess and he wasn't the knight.
He cast an appraising glance over her outfit. It was more practical then he would expect it to be considering the other dresses that he normally saw her wear and fit what he was wearing well enough that they didn't look at odds to each other outfit wise as they could be quite feasibly travelling together. "You look nice," he said in an attempt to break up the awkward silence but it was true. The blue of the dress looked nice against her pale skin and black hair and the dress whilst being of a simple cut was flattering.
Taking the bag she had prepared which was slightly larger than his own he turned around and started strapping it to the saddle of her mare which had been specifically designed to make it easy to carry multiple bags whilst encumbering the horse as little as possible.

Arabella looked down at her dress as if she hadn't seen what she was wearing yet. Her mind has been wandering from the moment she stepped out of her room to when she greeted Theodore. It was only just now did she remember what she was wearing. "Oh, it's nothing really. But thank you Theo." She brushed her hands on her dress, making sure there were no creases or wrinkles in sight. Although, she really shouldn't bother, it would only be her and Theo for the next few weeks.
"You look more comfortable in those clothes instead of what you normally wear." She gave Theo a ghost of a smile before making her way to him and her mare. Arabella patted the horse's nose and rested her hand there for a few moments as she tried to collect herself.
Arabella turned to Theodore and moved her hand away from the creature that would deliver her to her inevitable future. She walked closer to him, "Theo...promise me that these next few weeks won't be as miserable as this morning." She clasped her hands in front of her and her eyebrows were upturned slightly in a bit of desperation and sadness. Her lip quivered as tears threatened to come down from her different colored eyes, and she knew no matter how much she wanted to hide it, she couldn't.

Theo nodded in acknowledgement of her statement. It was relatively true considering the fact that he found the usual court approved clothes which he had to wear in addition to the chainmail which on certain occasions was a must but nobody who'd worn it for more than half an hour could say that wearing it was a pleasant experience. The simpler clothes also reminded him of when he'd been a kid before he'd moved to court when the most serious things he'd had to deal with was how his tutor was being so unfair. He didn't miss those simpler days as he wouldn't have met Arabella if he hadn't come to court.
Finishing tying the knot of Arabella's bag to the saddle he turned fully round to face her. She looked a mess and Theo who had known her since childhood knew that Arabella never looked a mess if there was something she could do about it. He swallowed a lump in his throat which had come from seeing her looking at him like that so desperate, so scared and he wanted to hug her, to wipe away her tears and tell her everything would be alright but he respected her too much to say anything of the kind and instead he ran a hand through his close cropped hair ruefully before stepping away from Arabella's horse.
"We need to go," he said after a few seconds. His voice was clinically detached and as emotionless as he could muster but he knew that his hazel eyes would be telling a different story. He swung himself up onto his own horse a black stallion which was one of the two he had been gifted and whilst his other was your typical war horse this horse Diablo was built for speed and stamina.

Arabella should have known he wouldn't have said anything of the sort, as Theodore didn't think he could promise such a daunting task. She knew she wouldn't be able to either. Arabella was almost relieved he walked away and to his own horse. She didn't want him to pity her or sympathize with her, she felt too proud almost to accept it anyway. Arabella was...better than that, she would be a queen soon. And Queens were supposed to be independent.
She shook her head as if to physically clear her thoughts and dispel of her emotions. Arabella took a moment or two to gather herself, to make herself more like nobility and then pulled herself up onto the horse. She sat sideways, due to her dress and then awaited Theodore to lead the way. She didn't know the route he had in mind, even if she knew the most direct way to reach her fiancé's kingdom.
