"Not much," Illiana mumbled, pulling herself even further inside her hood. The territory had become dark -- with black-bark trees tipped with metallic leaves. However, the ground was surprisingly dusty, and hard-mud tracks meant it was easy to see where to go. It was all just a bit too familiar, and she'd wished she'd never suggested meeting Akantha in the first place.
If memory served her correctly, they had at least another mile. But she was wrong. Soon, she heard a growl and from behind the drapes of a willow-tree came a dark-skinned wolf, fur bristling as he started to transform to threaten her. Illiana was about to explain, but the rude beta refused to look at her and addressed Convel only.
"Is she yours?" he asked.

Convel very calmly stared down the other Lycan, not giving him the time of day to actually speak to him, feigning ignorance instead as a more dominant werewolf might and instead yawning, showing off his large fangs. He ran a hand and ruffled his hair slightly, before finally saying, 'did.... did you... hear something, Illiana...? I'm sure I heard a soft little whispering... or was it whining? It sounded like...... like....... a little puppy wailing for its mama.' He smirked and cast his gaze over the other werewolf, stretching his arms above his head.

[[ the canon fodder beta? human, starting to transform as like a threat]]

The beta glared, his mouth opening to show another row of gleaming white fangs. His insolence would be punished. The beta stretched back his shoulders and swaggered towards Covel. "One more word and I'll take your human for myself," he growled, flashing a glare towards Illiana.
The mage-ess just smirked, folded her arms and said "doggy style?"
At that, the beta lost it. He started to fully transform but just as his upper body had lycanthropisized, and his bottom body was still weak, Illiana ducked and pummeled a fist straight for his mid-section. He winced and doubled over in pain. The mage-ess looked down at her silver-tipped spike-ring and smiled. It was a trusty companion that she'd taken after her relationship with Akatha had ended.
"I'm here to see your alpha. Take me to her," Illiana ordered and once he could stand again, the beta begrudgingly led them to the camp.
It had all changed -- and yet it was all the same. The same tiny stone-hovels, and occasional tents. Some nursing mothers cowering in the corner, protected by their mates who played poker over a tree stump. There was a fire in an old tin barrow, a rotting carcass being picked at in the corner -- and there, upon her high rock throne, stroking the small fox she kept as a pet, was Akatha.
Her long beaded mid-piece of her skirt swayed as she walked, as ever, her beautiful thighs and hips were exposed, and the only attempted top she had on was a thick leather band wrapped around her breasts up to her neck, exposing her six-packed mid-riff.
"Well, looks like my little girl is all grown up. Tell me, did you learn to speak properly or are you still tripping over your words?"

Za'rai looked at the newcomers as they approached his alpha. He sat away from the group, nursing his bruised side from where some of the Gamma's had beaten him to relief their frustrations. He lifted his hand to watch the bruise form for a moment, before focussing back on them again.

Convel studied the alpha with the correct caution of a newcomer, but with the same pride an old alpha might have held. An air of dignity torn away. He lifted his chin to scent the air and memorise all of the mingling smells, sliding his gaze over all of the werewolves. He gaze landed on the omega and he blinked slowly, tilting his head as he examined him just with slight more interest than the others, before finally glancing back at Akantha. He didn't speak yet; he didn't know how she ticked, and most lycan's communicated silently anyways.

"I speak how I want!" Illiana snapped, pulling herself inside her hood -- a telltale sign she was upset or stressed. Unfortunatly, it was a telltale sign Akantha knew well.
"Still hiding in your hood, I see. Remember I taught you that when --"
"Shut up!" Illiana shouted, glaring at Akantha. That was it, she wasn't doing this anymore. "Convel," she said, turning to him. "We're leaving, it was a stupid plan ever to come he--"
The familier strong grip and pinching claws of Akantha dug into her hand. Illiana gulped, remembering how powerful the Alpha truly was.
"Now now Illi, you traveled long to be here. I know you still live in the same 'place'. Oh, don't give me that look -- yes, I sent some beta's to check on you. But I had to make sure you were safe -- I can't lead every wolf in this forest, and some might decide you're good sport."
Slowly, Illiana rotated back round to face her -- this time, equipped with a smirk hiding low under her hood. "What if you could? Lead all the wolves? If we went to the big city, and talked to the rulers, to give you...fairness. To let you live in the cities."
"A rebellion?"
"I was thinking revolution," Illiana said, watching as Akantha tried to suppress her surprise at her knowing such a word.
***
What's her angle? Why's she helping us? Is she angry, vengeful...h*rney? While Akantha's external appearance exuded control and authority, she was running around with a bucket on her head inside -- clueless. Illiana vowed she'd never return to her. And yet she was here? Why? No...she had to put it behind her. The thought was shoved away so she could evaluate how successful a rebellion could be? There was certainly lots of them now, and she was teaching her pack to control ther minds when they lycanthropasized. That head-force, combined with any others in the forest...yes....yes! After a century, it was all coming together...
But the lingering thought of Illiana's mysterious goals were bugging here -- she needed to speak to the one person who'd been round her recently. Alone. She flicked her head. "Za'rai, take her to my tent and watch her. You can manage that, can't you?" she teased, watching the others chuckle as she said so.
Once she was out of hearing range, she approached Covel -- head high and teeth showing, but she wasn't cross...just cautious.
"You f*cking her?" she asked, wanting an honest answer.
***
Illiana stomped off in the opposite direction, towards the one she called 'Za'rai', most wolves obeyed Akantha like she was a god, but this one didn't seem as simple-minded. As they walked the twenty or thirty feet to Akantha's tent, Illiana said "Don't worry, she teases everyone -- it's her way of making them better versions of themselves." She looked down at his side and frowned. "Oh, and I can heal them. I doubt she's gotten as competent a healer as me since I left."

'I have about as much sexual attraction for illiana as you do for a man.' He blandly replied, haven already picked up on the fact that there was no alpha male, and the loss of interest in her from the males. 'No, I am not f*cking her.' He folded his arms and examined her- Convel was rather sassy. It was half the reason his pack had turned on him- he'd sassed them one too many times, and a younger, stronger, bigger male had gotten sick of it and ripped him to shreds. He cast his gaze after Za'rai as he walked Illiana away, then back at Akantha. 'Are we going to discuss some kind of alliegance or stand about talking about past relationships you're still hung up over?'

Za'rai frowned at her, then shook his head as they entered the tent. "No." He said, quite sharply, before he relaxed slightly. "No. I wear my wounds with pride." He said, before offering her a seat. "And I'm not too sure about it...'making me better'" he snorted quietly.

He cast his gaze after Za'rai as he walked Illiana away, then back at Akantha. 'Are we going to discuss some kind of alliegance or stand about talking about past relationships you're still hung up over?' A few of the more loyal beta's surrounding Akantha started to growl and bristle, but the Alpha snarled at them and they backed down immediately. She turned back to Convel and scoffed, half impressed at his boldness. "For your information, I do have a husband....somewhere, I guess," she commented, pulling her face back as she realized how long ago it was that she'd thought of him. "But back to this allegiance..." she started to circle Convel, looking him up and down and examining each part of him. Sassy, sure, but not without spirit. He hadn't taken advantage of little Illiana, despite how welcoming she could be. He needed change -- he was packless. And..."You're strong," Akantha said. "We could use you," she commented. "Truth be told, I have had such a rebellion planned for a while. One of my trusted beta's talked me down from mounting an attack on Malia, and told me to find a mouthpiece. I had thought Illiana too naive, but she's grown these past twenty years. But of what you've seen of her, does she have the ability to resort to more...drastic measures, if 'negotiations' fail?" Za'rai frowned at her, then shook his head as they entered the tent. "No." He said, quite sharply, before he relaxed slightly. "No. I wear my wounds with pride." He said, before offering her a seat. "And I'm not too sure about it...'making me better'" he snorted quietly. Illiana pursed her lips and retracted inside her hood a little. "Suit yourself," she said to his comment about healing. Once inside the tent she withdrew from the hood a little, breathing in the familiar smells of warm fur and chocolaty spice. It smelt like home. She grabbed a pelt and wrapped herself up warm with it, then dived into a bowl of treacle-covered pecans hidden underneath a rock slab. She turned the bowl round and offered it to Za'rai. "Try one -- they're lovely. As for Akantha's way...she likes to be mean so people will get angry, and angry -- I mean anger -- makes them stronger. Usually this works with the wolves well -- I mean lycans. This is why she's such a...b*tch."

Convel eyed her and stayed still as she circled him, following her only with his gaze, adding to his boldness; he didn't shrink away from her presence, nor did he have fear to turn his back to her. strong? If you'd seen me two days ago I'd have been spare meat for your mouths. he thought to himself, but said nothing back as she continued, head slightly tilted upon her mentioning her own plans for a rebellion. He wasn't sure violence would be the best way to go at first. 'If Illiana is our voice, then we are her teeth.' He calmly responded. 'Rebellions are often guided, yes, by one influential and memorable character- take King Lucifari of the Varezian Province, who killed King Storm and liberated Varezi into its own kingdom- he had his brother, his cousin, his father and his dragon behind him. He was not alone.' He folded his arms. 'More drastic measures will be dealt with by us, if it comes to that.'

It had been a long time since she'd met anyone with the knowledge of what happened among the Kingdom -- it was refreshing, and she was sufficiently impressed to accept his reasoning, even if she had her doubts. Many wolves were still angry at how they had been treated -- and they needed a scapegoat. But she could worry about that later....if this plan came off. "Where do you suggest we start? My pack encompasses 23 fighters, although some of them are whelps and youngsters. But more are being raised every day, and a few of us, have conscious thought when transforming. Do you?" Za'rai blinked, then reached out and took one, eating it cautiously. As soon as it touched his tongue, he recoiled and looked at the but, his head tilting one way, then the other. "What...is this?" He asked, his eyes wide as he looked at her. Illiana stiffed a giggle "it's a treacle-covered pecan. They're so nice and sweet -- I'm happy Akantha still has them." She lent back in her seat a little, taking in the appearance of the omega -- trying to decide why exactly Akantha had high hopes for him. Because she wouldn't send just anyone to guard her former lover. "Where do you come from?" she asked him, trying to determine exactly the cause of the Alpha's expectation.

He wrinkled his nose and looked away. 'If I'm calm.' He said, wrapping a strand of hair around his finger. 'I can't control it if I'm angry or distressed. Any other emotion, currently, is perfectly fine and compatable; and I'm finding myself able to remember what I do in my form more and more lately, which is huge progress.' He looked back at her. 'I suppose we start with an appeal to the Royals.' He said thoughtfully. 'We ask them for an audience, first and foremost.'

She tried to think harder, but then realized she was wasting her time -- better just ask him outright. She pulled herself up slightly and tried to look as non threatening as she could muster, hoping the wolf would not anger. "Why did Akantha take you? She's...picky, and she clearly sees good things in you," she said.

'And we need to come to an agreement with the other alphas- we can't just pick them up. We either fight them for dominance or we co-lead.' He noticed he was saying 'we' and found that although he had lost his own pack, he still had the mental mindset of an Alpha- he was still strong, with the correct caution and determination, and his high strategic intelligence. He wondered if they'd run into his old pack as they travelled, and his eyes darkened at the thought. if we do, I'm going to be the one to rip YOU to shreds, and we will see who is the more capable alpha then. he thought to himself, shivering slightly at it.

"Ohhhh" Illiana said, "Akatha you crafty dog." The mage-ess leaned back in her fur until she was on the ground, looking up at the ceiling of the tent in a kind of overall appreciation for the sky. "How do you do it? That's the first step in learning how to teach, is being able to say what you do."

Aurinda had been up for a few hours before sunrise, she didn't sleep much anyway. In the earliest morning hours, before the sky turned the soft pink that signaled the start of the day, Aurinda studied her mage techniques and books of medicines and alchemy. She was a daughter of Alchemia afterall, what use was her gift if she didn't know how to use it? As the morning swept across the island Aurinda slowly rose from her small desk and sighed, brushing back some of her hair and yawning widely. She quickly prepped herself for the day, dawning a flowing ruby skirt that faded to sheet at her ankles and a smile cropped halter top that wrapped about her neck. Aurinda made quick work of braiding her long hair and tying it back into a bun, her hat feathers hanging down from the bottom along her neck as usual. As she prepared she took a moment to watch the Elites morning training from her window. Her room sat just over their training yard, giving her access to every training they had. She's learned plenty and retained it all, in time her skill and knowledge would be exemplified, but for now, her mind flicked to her duties.
Aurinda grabbed headed down to the kitchen firstly, grabbing Katherine a small breakfast for now. Varezian pastries, assorted for her choosing, and some sliced fruits as well. She poured drinks of water and juice and she balanced the full tray of food easily in on hand as she opened the door of the kitchen and began her trek through the corridors and up towards the king and queens suite.
