"I'll get by," Kurt murmured, wishing he'd stop talking. He still had no confidence in his ability to have intelligent and civil discourse with someone from the RK. He stared at the letter, trying to remember what he'd intended to talk about next. They should already know the basics; he'd sent his oldest brother a short letter as soon as he'd been able giving him as many details of his situation as he could and indicating that he should share this information with the others. These letters were more personalized. He put pen to paper and continued to write.
Anja shrugged, not sure how true that was, while Daniel stubbornly kept his eyes ahead, not moving. It was about a drive of about fifty minutes through a couple of cities before they finally passed out of Athy, headed north for several kilometres, and finally came upon a large gate. After being granted clearance, the vans drove a good few kilometres more before arriving at an enormous military building. They descended to the lower level, passing through many more security checkpoints, and stopped in the parking area with many other military vehicles. The officers quickly emptied out of the van, and Daniel dutifully slid out of his seat as well, pulling Anja along with him.
Möer raised an eyebrow. "Wherever we can find. We're shapeshifters, and we're in a forest."

Olivia raised up her hand to show him she wasn't going to argue with him further. "I guess you see things differently than I do," she said. After all, she wasn't a shifter, so she couldn't tell the boy if he was over reacting or not. "But you could try to still have a normal life."
Boris wasn't an idiot. He could feel the irritation coming from the young man, even though he had tried to keep his voice neutral. The man couldn't blame him. So he left the man alone to work. He would try more of a conversation after he was done."
Nichole watched as best as she could through the windows as they drove. There wasn't much else for them to do. With no one talking and the radio off, only silence filled the air. it was an uncomfortable ride, but she didn't dare try to break the silence. When they finally reached their destination, she was the last one out of the van. Draping the blanket around her, the young woman scanned their new surroundings. "Where are we?" she finally dared to ask.
"You mean we're going to sleep as animals?" Christoph asked, turning his wide eyed gaze to his grandfather. That was something he had yet to do. There were times when he woken from a bad dream and accidentally shifted into an animal. Usually his aunt would find him cowering in the corner of his room or in/under his bed. But he never spent an entire night as an animal.

"Normal doesn't come easy for me Olivia." Kai said as he looked down at her. "For you yes it will come as easy as riding a bike. For me not so much." He told her as he headed back up the stairs into the main of the store. He raised his hands as he saw a police man there. Just great.... He thought to himself as he watched the officer with care making sure he wasn't shot at.
(i'd hope there are still cops.)

((Yes, there are still cops, as society has not crumbled, and said cops definitely wouldn't shoot without provocation at a kid just for being too angsty. XD))
After a few hours Kurt had finished the letters and handed them off to a nurse who had promised to make sure they got mailed out. He settled down, not sure what to do with the two hours remaining before his physical therapy session. But he had to do something. If he wasn't stimulated he would just start thinking about Charlie and Alec and Rinn, and he'd collapse in on himself, he knew he would.
After a pause, Daniel replied, tone neutral, "WhiteKingdom base." "Please come this way," said an officer, gesturing towards a door across the stretch of concrete from them. "We have much paperwork to go through."
Again Möer raised an eyebrow at the boy. "Is that going to be a problem?"

(I was just about to say. How did the cops even know they were in there? Nobody really noticed that they were there.)
As the hours passed by, Boris had contented himself with reading. It was a book he had read several times before, but it was a favorite of his. When he heard Kurt handing off his letters to the nurse, he looked up. "So you've finished, have you?" he asked.
Well, at least he spoke to her. It wasn't the friendliest statement, but it let Nichole know that Donald would still speak to her. The girl nodded to the officer and followed the others towards the door.
"No, I've just never spent the night as an animal before," Christoph said, having the feeling like he needed to justify himself. He might not know a lot about his grandfather, but he didn't want him to think that he couldn't do something as simple as sleeping in animal form.

Remus smiled and followed Lucas, excited to get a tour of the city. He was also glad to have a companion, possibly a friend, in this new country.

(in one of your lines you said it would seem strange that Olivia would go in there. meaning people could have noticed. For Kai people just don't really care since he kinda seems like a street kid.)

((So you're wanting to say that this cop noticed them go in several minutes ago and then decided to just hang around the entrance until they came out?))
Kurt released an exhale, slow and silent as possible. "For now," he said, settling back into his pillow.
True to the officer's word, much paperwork followed. They were led up through a lift and a few stark and orderly hallways before they came to a small room with a camera and some chemical equipment set up. Nichole's picture and fingerprints were taken, and she was asked about her personal and medical history. Meanwhile Daniel and Anja were taken elsewhere, leaving Nichole in the room with two officials.
"Indeed?" said Möer flatly. "Well, unless you'd rather stretch out in the open as a human..."

(no. i'm saying someone told him about Olivia going in and he decided to head there to investigate since it seemed odd a young girl would go into an abandoned store and he didn't go further because he didn't know if the person was lying or not so he waited to see.)

(I like that idea. Olivia was walking home from school when she noticed Kai, and it's more than likely at least one teacher would take the same route home as she does.)
"I'm getting the feeling that you don't like me very much," Boris commented. It was reasonable. However, in his mind, he didn't see the need for hostility while they were here. After all, he wasn't on active duty, so he wasn't the enemy. Of course, Kurt wouldn't know that. He would just see an RK member sitting in the bed next to him.
Nichole wasn't thrilled about being left alone with the WK personal as they took her information. No matter how much she told herself that this was all part of making sure she was safe, it didn't help calm her nerves. She answered their questions as best as she could with slightly quavering voice.
"No, I'm fine with shifting," Christoph said, feeling the need to prove to the man that he was able to do this simple task. "What animal are we going to sleep as? A fox? Bear? Nothing would bother a bear, would it?"

((Okay.))
Sara had had a very long day. Then again, every day was a long day when you were a primary school teacher. The five-year-olds she was in charge of generally behaved for her better than for the other teachers, but today was a Friday and they were all predictably excited about getting home. And that was all before she'd gotten the call from Bernard. Kurt had been taken prisoner. He didn't know where he was beyond "somewhere in North or South Germany." He was fine, except that he was one foot down and had no idea whether Charlie and Alec and Rinn were okay. But he had no idea how long it would be before he could see any of them again. She'd received the call very near the end of the day and had been gently told that she should feel free to just head home, but she'd managed through the last almost-hour. She was glad the day was over, though. The walk home from the large school where she taught was rather long, but her husband had the car today. It was fine, anyway. It was a relatively safe part of town and she knew the way well. Her next stop was to pick up her two-year-old daughters from nursery school. They always enjoyed the stroller ride back home. But along the way, she received a call from a coworker, and she stopped to take a seat on a bench as the conversation began. While she sat, a girl who had been walking behind her came into view, heading towards what very much appeared to be an abandoned building. It took a few minutes for her to place the girl's face, but soon she realized that she was a student at the same school where Sara taught. A different building, of course, as the girl had to be at least fourteen or fifteen, but she had seen her around. Of course, she couldn't help but take note of her milky eye. She watched idly as the girl considered the building, and became a bit alarmed when she decided to enter. Had she missed something? Whatever she was doing, it couldn't be safe. The girl shouldn't have been any of Sara's business, but when the phone call wrapped up after several minutes and the girl had not emerged, her concern and curiosity got the better of her, and she slowly approached the building.
"I don't know you," Kurt muttered. Not that he had any interest in knowing him anyway.
After the initial phase of information-gathering, they gave Nichole a simple but complete set of clothing, including a plain white T-shirt and slacks, and showed her to a stark bedroom with one bed and a small bathroom attached to it. "You can change in here," an official told her. "And this is where you will stay while we watch the news and see what is being said of you in Dublin." With this he shut the door.
Möer nodded slowly, but said, "Except, perhaps, another bear upon whose territory the first bear may have encroached. So how might you make sure?"
((It's okay, Longclaw; thanks for checking in.))

Olivia followed Kai up the steps. "You know, normal isn't too easy for me either, but I get it. Being a shifter is dangerous, more for you than anyone else," she said, stepping passed the boy as she walked over to the door. "If it'll help, I can bring you some stuff to help you out. Some clothes, blankets, food. It might help brighten your mood a little."
"Fair point," Boris said. "My name is Boris Zima. A pleasure to meet you." He gave a small smile. Of course, simply knowing his name wasn't enough to really know him, but it was a starting point.
Nichole looked around the small room, holding her new clothes close to her. She murmured a thanks before the official left her alone. She sighed and began to change. What was she going to do now? Just hang out in this room until someone told her she could leave?
There was a small pause as Christoph tried to think of the answer to the question. He never thought about that. "Well, um, you could look for tracks?" he offered.

Kurt tried his best not to hiss through his teeth. This was not the response he had wanted. He knew this repulsion to be irrational. He knew the nature of war, and that this man had had nothing to do with what had happened to his family. And in fact, it was his instinct to react in kind to this man who had only been friendly to him. But he had been taught the dangers of putting a face to the enemy. And the man who had told him this had since been mercilessly killed by the RedKingdom. That being said, he realized as he stared down at the empty space where his foot had one been... the chances of him ever seeing any fighting had now diminished to zero. "Kurt Keller," he said softly.
((There'd definitely be loads more paperwork and such but going through all of it would be a tedious waste of time, so can we say all that happened and she was left in her room afterwards?))
About ten minutes after they left Nichole in her room, there was a knock at the door. All the formalities had taken about two hours and the dining hall would open for dinner about another hour from now.
"That's a start," said Möer, still speaking rather slowly. "You have at least five senses at your disposal in most animal forms, however. Sight is the most obvious but often not the most useful."

After a moment of silence, Kurt said, still speaking quietly, "I suspect I'll be locked away for an indefinite period of time."
((Heh, the knock wasn't to announce an hour till dinner time. They don't do that. She was meant to answer the door.))
Anja stood outside the door she knew to be Nichole's, tapping her foot against the tiled floor, arms hugging her midsection. She was wearing a plain white polo and khaki shorts—an outfit that felt oddly familiar as it clung to her skin like an old acquaintance she could never decide how she felt about. But she wasn't thinking about that at this moment; her face bore an expression of consternation with more than a hint of anger, or at least frustration. She glanced down the hall as she waited for Nichole to answer the door, but found it empty.
((For future reference, Diana's trained him up good. And just by utilizing his abilities as a shapeshifter he'd at the very least know that there are a lot of animals with better senses of smell than humans, because he's been those animals.))
Möer nodded, and gave him a go ahead gesture. "Go on then. Do some scouting."
