"Classes?" Destiny asked, her curiousity returning. "What kind of classes?"
Nichole reached the car in no time and opened the back door. Inside was the cooler packed with more water and juice boxes than they would need for the trip. Grabbing the desired drinks, she closed both the cooler and the car door. She was about to turn around when an arm wrapped around her shoulders from behind, followed by a sharp pain as something was jabbed into her upper arm.
"You think you're so clever," a male voice sneered. "Filthy shifter."
Panic flared inside Nichole's chest. Someone had seen her shift. Did Donald? She had little time to think about who might have seen her when the man began to drag her away from the car. The young woman screamed, struggling to free herself from his grasp. If there were other people around, maybe the man would think twice about trying to take her.
A waitress was making her way through the tables towards them. Flashing a smile, she greeted, "Good evening, you two. What can I get for you?"
(Okay. I can try to rp him. Just tell me when you need him to enter and maybe what he's part to play is, and I'll be more than happy to jump in.)

"Mostly to do with shifting," Maria said, smiling. "If there's one thing we're about here, it's not wasting potential. You'll be starting with biology and zoology classes, though; you won't actually be doing any shifting for a little while, but you'll definitely learn how to shift better."
Anja wrapped her towel around her shoulders and hurried to the parking lot. When she emerged from the first line of cars, it took a moment to spot the family car across the way, but soon enough her eyes landed on their grey Toyota Auris. And after this, it took yet another moment to register what was happening directly beside it. Nichole stood by the open back door, but there was a man holding her from behind, and from the looks of it it wasn't a friendly encounter. Anja froze up, watching with wide eyes from where she stood, and she flinched when Nichole screamed, but her mind stalled at what to do. What could she do? Scream herself? Run back to get help? What if it was too late by the time she got back?
She was holding her notepad up in front of her chest, but Nate subtly searched for a nametag as he gestured for Faith to go ahead.
((Cool, thanks. Don't need him yet, but somewhere down the road, yes.))

((Wow, I totally forgot about that character. But sure, I can pick him up again. Also, going to the front page made me realize that in the past year of roleplaying, probably less than a week has passed for Felix and Jennette.))
Lillian followed the river until she reached its source, but she did not see Christoph. She made a last scan of the area before wheeling around to catch up to Schwarz. She didn't go far before she spotted helicopters in the distance, which she recognized as belonging to the WK. She gave a little sigh of relief, glad backup had arrived. She just hoped they had already found Schwarz.

"No one with the RK is on my good side," Jennette told him.

"Oh," Destiny said, suddenly not looking forward to the classes. Kurt had told her they would try to get her to shift. Would she be able to refuse to shift in a class? "W-when do the classes begin?"
Nichole twisted around, trying to find a way to get away. She tried to stomp on his feet, kick his shins, all the while shouting at him to let her go. Panic flooded her. She had the urge to shift, to turn into anything that would help her to escape. Yet she couldn't risk changing. Not when there was so many people around. The man changed directions, probably heading to his own vehicle. It was then that the young woman spotted Ava, starring wide eyed at her. "Ava!" she shouted. "Get your dad! Hurry!" she managed to shout before a hand was clamped over her mouth.
"I'll have the roasted lamb with water, please," Faith told the waitress, handing the other woman her menu.
"Alright," the waitress said, writing the order down. Then she turned to Nate. "And what will you be having, sir?" she asked.
(Just tell me when you need him, and he'll pop in. In the meantime, I'll be reading up on him and what's going on with the other characters he'll be interacting with.)

((Wow. Yeah, that's... kind of amazing. It's really no wonder we've had such massive time skips as we have in the past.))
"Anything?" Schwarz asked brusquely. "Nothing so far, Sergeant, but we've dispatched six shifters to search in avian form." There'd been other birds flying around and she somehow hadn't seen any of them? She was worse than she thought. She breathed out slowly, and said, "He got me over the head and I may be in need of medical attention."
"They're always going on. You'll just join them tomorrow. They're pretty small so the instructor is able to pay special attention to everyone." Maria cocked her head, noting the stutter and the shift in her expression. "Is something wrong?"
That was all Anja needed. She turned on her heel and bolted from the car park, legs going a mile a minute. And it wasn't even that long before she'd crossed enough of the stretch of sand to see her father—of course he had found her before she'd found him, and was already rising, brows drawn together in concern. "Dad!" she screamed, tears brimming at her eyes. "Come quick!" And again she turned and was running back. There was a fair number of people at the beach this day, and some of them seemed like they wanted to come and offer their help. Daniel hoped against hope none of them did. He had a very bad feeling about this. "An—Ava, stop!" he called, but it was no good; she was already out of sight and he had a lot of relaxed beachgoers to pick his way through. He cursed under his breath, sending up a silent prayer that he didn't come too late. Anja broke through the line of cars about thirty seconds ahead of her dad.
Nate eyed Faith across the table as he handed in his own menu. "I'll have the exact same thing," he said, flashing a lopsided smile at the waitress.
((Oh, you also may have both noticed on the front page that I finally got around to splitting up Germany. So... that's a thing. ALSO we are all online at the same time. Has that ever happened before?))

((Wow! I don't know that that has happened before.))
Jennette didn't look up from her meal. "You say it like it's a matter of personality. It's not. It's a matter of principles."
--
Approaching the helicopters, Lillian darted in between them, glancing through the windows in search of Schwarz. She finally spotted the sergeant in one of the helicopters in the middle of the pack, and made a quick turn to enter the machine. She shifted back as soon as she caught her balance. "There was no sign of him in my direction," she reported.
((How long does it take them to shift?))

((Just a couple of seconds. That hasn't changed.))
"Spectacular," Schwarz growled, and then, in response to the question the doctor had just asked her, "No, it's. The man placed his pen behind his ears. "Well, the good news is your concussion is a mild one. The bad news, of course, is that you are indeed concussed." Another man crossed the small area of the chopper to stand by Lillian. "How did you get involved in this?" he questioned.

Maria frowned, thinking. There were a couple reasons she could think of that the man might have said that, but one of them was a little dangerous to talk about, though admittedly unlikely to be a problem for Destiny. "Well, honey, it is true that generally you won't be allowed to shift. You see why that is, right? Especially for people who haven't learned how to control their shifting, it can be dangerous, for themselves and others."
"Nichole," Anja screamed, and immediately covered her mouth, but she couldn't bring herself to run to help, and she couldn't bring herself to run away.
((A warning: Daniel's not going to touch this with a hundred-foot pole if Anja's not directly in danger.))
"So," Nate said, leaning back easily in his seat, "what do you study at school?"

"Uh," said Lillian, caught a little off guard. "Well, I was trying to contact Sergeant Schwarz by phone, and I could hear trouble on the other end, so I went to find her and I guess I've been involved since then."

(Whoops! Thanks for telling me!)
"I guess to you it would be," Archer mused. "But are there not people who share your principles but do not have agreeable personalities? Do you still go out of your way to keep them on your good side it you cannot stand to be near them?"
"But we never do anything dangerous," Destiny said. The children back at the WK base, while had some limitations on when and where they could shift, had never had any dangerous encounters among one another. Then again, the children were watched carefully by their caretakers.
(Than Anja will be brought into it. XD)
At the sound of Ava's scream the man turned to look at the small girl. He pulled the ropes tight around Nichole's wrists behind her back. "Well if if isn't your little friend," He said, pushing her into the backseat of his car, closing the door. Then, with another piece of rope, he walked over to where Ava was. "Is she a shifter as well?"
"Ava, run!" Nichole shouted as loud as she could. Desperately, she tried to free her hands. If she could only shift. Then she'd be able to get out and stop the man.
"I study Journalism," Faith replied. "I have a problem with the way people write stories for the news these days, so I'm going to school to see how I can learn how to write those stories better. Put a less doom and gloom feeling on them and focus more on the positive things going on in the world."

Lillian shook her head. "I barely even know the boy himself."

"I'm not saying I immediately like anyone who shares my principles. I'm just saying that I cannot say anyone who thinks it okay to treat shifters the way the RK does is on my good side," Jennette said. "I can't ignore that, no matter how great their personality is."

"Not every place is the same," Maria said gently. "We've had some... ordeals. I personally don't like that we have to be so strict, but I understand why. And if your conduct is good, you'll be allowed to shift later on under certain conditions."
Anja stood rooted to the spot as he drew nearer, and at the last moment, with everything in her, she tried to duck underneath him to run towards the car.
Nate blinked, starting to get afraid of how impressive this girl was. "That... is a terrific answer," he said after a moment.
The man ran a hand through his hair. "The man's name is Franz Möer. He was a general of the RedKingdom, took many years off for reasons the WK never became privy to, but he still supported them and made trouble for us. He is exceptionally dangerous, and very unstable. A few years ago he was dishonorably discharged and imprisoned by the RK, again for reasons we do not know specifically, but we know there was a body count. We'd hoped never to see or hear from him again." He glanced subtly over his shoulder. "Sergeant Major Schwarz more than any of us."

"Oh," said Lillian, not really sure of what else to say.
((Hey, those are cool drawings! Also, nice new profile picture. Yeah, if you wanted to draw some of my characters, that would be really neat. I've wanted to do that for a while myself, but I'm just not very good at drawing humans.
Also, it's July, so Icestar, that means it would be about our forum-verseries on the old forums. I feel like it's been about eight years now?))

((Thanks. I'd been tired of staring at the same unidentified galaxy cat for like seven years straight for a while and finally did something about it.
Actually I drew a picture of Jennette, Felix, and Caleb a while ago... I might be able to find it.
Your old Forumsversary was the 16th. Mine was the 26th. Don't ask me why I know that. And yep, 2009. Eight years. Wow.
Hmm, giving me a lot to go off of there. Is Lillian actually invested at all in this mission? Because if not you're going to have a hard time getting her to stick with it.))
The man presently withdrew to the cockpit, and the doctor finished his examination of the sergeant and afterwards took to surveying the area at the left open end of the chopper, as the right was covered by the other soldier, a thirtysomething human female. Schwarz tried to do the same, but found herself having to sit back, wincing in pain at the loudness of the helicopter blades spinning just above and the unsteadiness of the craft itself.

(Those are so cute, Ice! If you want to draw any of my characters, go for it.)
Destiny didn't know how to respond. Maria made it sound as if the people were just worried about the safety of everyone here. But she couldn't forget the way Kurt had pleaded with her to not shift, no matter what. Slowly, the girl nodded her head. "I guess that makes sense," she said.
The man easily grabbed her arms. "You've spent a lot of time with the shifter. Maybe you'll be useful as well," he said, dragging the girl back to his car. He didn't waste the small supply of anti-shifting serum he had in his pockets. From as far as he could tell, the girl wasn't a shifter. He would need to save the serum for the older female in case the dose he had given her wore off before he made contact with the RK.
Faith laughed slightly. "You make it sound as if you were expecting something different," she said lightly, taking in his surprised face.
"It's slow progress, but I'm getting there," Archer answered. "I like to think I'm in the Lieutenant's good graces. If there ever was a spot that needed to be filled, I would hope that I would be one of the people he would recommend for the job."

Maria smiled. "I'm glad." Her smile dropped as she asked softly, "Now, did you want to check in on Kurt before you go back to your room?"
((I know she said there were only a few minutes left but eh, time is relative.))
Anja screamed, pulling as hard as she could away from him, but could predictably make no headway. Her sandals scuffed uselessly against the asphalt as she was dragged. And suddenly she found herself violently released as a terrible roar like nothing she'd heard before split the air. She went crashing to the ground, scraping up her shoulder, and a cry of pain tore out of her. She sat up quickly, wrapping her towel around her injured shoulder, and looked up. He brain froze. She stared, trying to make sense of what she was seeing. A gigantic gorilla towered over her, withdrawing its arm, and when she followed its gaze she saw the man who'd been attacking them lying completely motionless on the opposite end of the car park. Anja looked sharply back at the gorilla, unable to rationalize what she was looking at, particularly since a horribly torn white T-shirt hung from one of its shoulders, and it appeared to be wearing very tight-fitting swimming trunks that, come to think of it, closely resembled her dad's... The gorilla looked around as if it were searching for someone or something, and Anja's scrambled mind went back to Nichole in the back of that car. But she couldn't move a muscle. This animal was enormous, and she knew, somewhere in the part of her brain that was still working, how dangerous they could be.
He shrugged. "I mean, you didn't just give an answer, you gave a plan. Like, a really respectable one. That's..." He spent a moment searching for the proper word. "...exceptional."
Schwarz waved it off. "There are far more important questions to be asking right now."
((So I'm thinking Christoph escapes from Franz pretty quickly, though still far out into the wilderness, and ends up alone far from civilization. Would you want to Rp that out, Night? I'm good either way.
Also, Dawn. Remember that pack idea? With all those shifters living as a community away from civilization? We could bring that into this.))
