The next morning, Archer walked to Jennette's cell carrying a tray of food once more. He knock politely to warn her of his presence if she was awake before unlocking the door and stepping inside.
When they finally made it to the fountain, Destiny peered over the side into the water. "Are there any fish?" she asked. "Pescado?" she added, hoping Sabel would understand what she meant. There were a lot of animal names she knew in Spanish since it was easy for her to knew individual words rather than whole sentences.
Nichole stayed silent, not wanting to case any more attention to them. Hopefully if anyone heard, they would just think Ava was talking about how amazing swimming in the ocean was. She also had to make sure she didn't push the girl over into the water. It was harder to stay floating upright without any practice. For the thirty seconds, she allowed herself to be hugged before swimming away. She dove back under the water, resurfacing as a human once more. "Well, I guess that proves I can do that," she said, beaming at Ava.
"Then I know just the place," Faith stated with a smile. "You're in luck. There aren't many places that have small diners anymore. Luckily this town's still small enough to appreciate the need for home made meals."

((I totally just realized Schwarz would probably have Christoph chipped or something. Mm... well, guess she doesn't. She definitely will after this episode though.))
She whipped her phone out to ask for any updates. They had sent a search team since her last call but it would be some time before they arrived. Shoving the phone back into her pocket, she explained, staring in frustration at the water all the while, "He drugged Christoph so he must still be in human form, but Möer could fairly easily have changed into something large enough to carry him across this water. I just—" She suddenly lurched dangerously, ending up slipping halfway into the water, totally drenching her legs up to her knees before she scrambled back up to dry land.
((I know I didn't mention that phone call earlier, and that's because I forgot. I did intend to say something about it, and she definitely wouldn't have just left without getting in contact with the WK first.))
Sabel couldn't hold back a giggle. "Pescado is food. Peces is animals," she said quietly. To answer Destiny's question, she leaned over the edge of the fountain, scanning the water briefly, and pointed when she located a small school of silvery Molly fish. There weren't a lot of them, maybe a dozen in total, but they were pretty to look at. The head groundskeeper had once told her they were good aquarium fish too.
Anja beamed right back. "Being a sh—" She caught herself just in time, and managed to bring it down to an excited whisper. "Being a shifter must be deadly!" she gushed.
((To clarify, "deadly" is an Irish slang term for "awesome." XD But feel free to let Nichole take it totally the wrong way. Even though she'd more than likely have heard it before.))
Nate raised his fist in a right on gesture. "Now I'm hungry. Lead the way."
((Okay, last post of the night. Laterz.))

Jennette woke up with a start as the man from yesterday entered the room again.
--
"Woah! Are you alright?" said Lillian. "Maybe we should slow down a little, wait for backup? I don't think you've quite recovered yet."

"Oh," Destiny said, feeling embarrassed for the mix up, but it didn't last long. She leaned over with the other girl and looked in the direction she was pointing. There, in the water, she spotted the small fish. Smiling, she asked, "Can we feed them?"
Nichole gave a small, nervous laugh. She was familiar with the term, but it wasn't one she had heard directed to shifters. While, she had but in a much different context. "That it is," she said carefully, to both possible meanings of the phrase. "I certainly enjoy it, but it does have its difficulties."
Faith laughed at his gesture. Ten minutes later, they were outside a small diner. She opened the door for him, and with a smile said, "After you."
"I did not mean to startle you," Archer apologized, walking over to her. "Sleep is a rare thing for all of us here sometimes. So I hate to wake anyone up."

"Of course I haven't recovered," Schwarz hissed, absolutely no patience left in her, as she leaped back to her feet. "That hardly matters. I have to—" She stopped abruptly then, because the emotion welling inside her was threatening to show itself in her voice.
Sabel frowned, not understanding. She instinctively cast a glance over to Maria, who was still at the entrance, keeping an eye on them, but out of earshot. Of course, she noticed, and approached them.
Anja was a child, and she didn't have much interest in the difficulties of something so wicked cool, so she shrugged and dived underwater, flicking her feet above the surface to splash Nichole.
"Why thank you, milady," Nate said, dipping his head graciously and with a flourish before entering the diner.

Destiny looked up at Sabel when she gave no reply. The look on the other girl's face told her she must not have understood. "Oh, um, comeda," she tried, pointing at the fish. Then figured that Sabel might have thought she was calling the fish "food", she tried something else. "Peces comeda?" To add to the confusion, she mimed pouring fish food into the fountain. Really, it didn't help, but she hoped that something she did or say would be understood.
Nichole laughed as the water was kicked her way. She made sure to keep an eye on the girl while under water, but she didn't fear for the worst as much. If anything were to happen, she could just shift into a dolphin and help Ava. Sure it might get her into trouble later, but it was worth the risk if it meant saving the young girl.
Faith smiled in amusement as she followed him inside. They were met with the sight of an open diner, many tables filled with customers. She led Nate over to an empty booth while a waitress called out to them that she would be right over.

Maria arrived next to them and, puzzled by what the girl was doing, asked softly, "What is it, Destiny?"
Anja started to get tired from constantly trying to keep her head above water after only a few minutes, and finally had to throw in the towel. "Let's go build a sand castle," she said to Nichole.
"This looks spectacular," said Nate after a couple of seconds of trying to come up with the right word.
((Really need to go to bed; sorry these are so short.))

"I was trying to ask her if we could feed the fish," Destiny told the woman, looking a bit sheepish. "I didn't know how to say it in Spanish."
"I think that's a good idea. Your dad looks lonely," Nichole said. She had cast a few glances at Donald every now and then to make sure nothing was wrong on the beach. But the man seemed to be content where he was.
"It's the best place if you want a nice quiet place to wind down in the evenings," Faith said, letting her own gaze roam the familiar room. "Not to mention it's one of the more friendlier staffed places. No rude waitress, service with a smile, and a good place to make friends."
(It's fine, Ice. Go on to bed!)

"Maybe for you," said Jennette, sitting up. "But sleeping is all I can really do here." She guestured to the cell. But though she'd had lots of time for sleeping, her fear hadn't allowed her much rest.

"Okay, I get it," Lillian said as gently as she could, though she didn't much succeed under the circumstances. "Do you think you can keep going?"

((Hmm... Don't really remember what was happening when you were around. After the bombing which took place at the beginning of this thread all of the previously Potsdam characters have been scattered to the four winds and we have various plotlines going, including some previous residents of said Potsdam base acclimatizing themselves to their new RK prison, an interrogation of some other previous residents of said Potsdam base, and a chase after an ex-sergeant-turned-kidnapper.
Are you looking to rejoin? Because I have an idea involving the Infinity Circle that could be cool. Though it would involve having said organization be more than a little disbanded.))
"Ahh," said Maria, nodding, and said to Sabel, "Quiere alimentar los peces." The girl's expression cleared in understanding. Maria said to Destiny, "I've never heard anyone ask about that, but I imagine we could ask the groundskeeper. I'm just not sure where he is right now."
Anja shrugged, and began paddling towards shore, panting lightly. They reached it in due time, and she ran up to her dad's side to slip on her sandals and protect her feet against the hot sand. He had his book open but she somewhat doubted he'd actually been reading it, and he'd lowered it as she approached. "You doing okay?" he asked. "Yeah," she said, having anticipated the question, and wanting to get it out of the way. "Fine."
Nate liked the sound of that. "Does that mean you're pals with some of these guys?" he inquired.
"Yes," Schwarz said automatically, because any other answer was unthinkable. "Can you? We've got a lot of ground to cover."

Under any other circumstances, the sergeant major may have given a smirk to the computer analyst, but not now. Not when Christoph was on the line. She pointed out over the water to her left and right respectively, saying, "You go that way, I go this way. Fly as fast and as high as you can while still being close enough to see a human boy on the surface of the water. If you see him... the howler monkey is the loudest animal we can shift into. Alert me, and then do whatever you have to to get the boy away. Clear?"
Maria shrugged. "Nope. Sorry, hon. I'll see if I can find him tomorrow, though, and maybe you can feed them during your free time then." She gave the girl a sidelong look. "That's neat that you have fish at home. So then, where would 'home' be?"
Daniel forced a small smile. "Enough." He turned his gaze to his daughter. "Ava? Having a good time?" She nodded vigorously. "You went out quite far," he said quietly, but firmly. "I'd rather you not go out so far again." Anja's smile dimmed a notch and she cast her eyes down. "I wasn't going to anyway," she muttered.
A wide smile spread involuntarily over Nate's face at the thought that this was a special occasion. "Man, I'm having dinner with the right girl," he said by way of answer.

"I live with Kurt," Destiny replied, hiding her disappointment for having to wait. "In a place like this, only more friendly. We get to go anywhere we want so long as someone's with us, and we have lots of food." Of course, there were rules and guidelines in place for the children. They couldn't just go wherever they pleased, and the food portions weren't as big as the girl made them out to be. She might have exaggerated due to her longing to go back.
"I think I'll take the blame for that one," Nichole commented. "I thought I saw a shell Ava might like, so I wandered out that far first. I promise it won't happen again."
"Luck smiles upon you it seems," Faith responded with a light laugh. "Order whatever you want. There's hardly anything on the menu that isn't satisfying."

WK base. Maria knew it would be foolish to deny such a place was a more kid-friendly environment than the RK version. At least, based on what she knew. "If you're hungry, don't worry; it won't last too much longer and then you won't need as much to eat. And I know there's not much to do at first, and I'm sorry, I really am. It's just that we do very important work here and most of this compound is... Well, it's no place for children." Sabel nodded along to her words in silent agreement. She'd heard this all before, and she understood. "Soon you'll be able to start making requests for things to keep you entertained, though," Maria went on. "Books, games, that sort of thing."
Daniel raised an eyebrow, glancing at Anja, who was peering at Nichole in surprise. After a pause, he asked, "Did you find the shell?"
Nate opened the menu, closed his eyes, alighted his finger on a random spot on the menu, and opened them up again. "Cornish Pastie. Sounds good. You had it before?"

Maria kept her expression neutral. It depended on what kind of man he was, but it didn't seem likely he'd be up to it anytime soon, especially since the amputation was arguably not the worst to have befallen him in light of the bombing. "That sounds great, sweetie. I want you to know, though, that if Kurt is ever too tired to read to you, you can ask me."
Daniel sighed softly. This wasn't the first time Nichole had told a white lie to keep Anja out of trouble, and he couldn't tolerate lies at all. Maybe it was time to talk to her about it, but for now, he wasn't going to tell her off in front of his daughter having fun at the beach. "Just stay near the shore from now on."
"Awesome. I do like pie and meat." The description reminded him of pyzy; his mother used to make them for him all the time. "What are you looking at?"

Destiny nodded, slowly warming up to the woman. "Can you teach me Spanish too?" she asked. Her thoughts were everywhere at the moment as she tried not to think about her situation too much. "I was learning it back home, but I still don't know a lot of it." If she was going to be sharing a room with Sabel, than she at least wanted to be able to talk with the other girl instead of having to mime everything. Plus, it would give her something to focus on.
"We will, I promise," Nichole said, this time being sincere. "I'm going to go get a drink from the cooler. Does anyone else want anything?" She had packed a small cooler full of drinks, not sure how long they had planned on staying at the beach. They had left it back in the car, however, so they wouldn't have to lug it all the way to the shore.
"Hmm, I may just have what you're getting," Faith replied, scanning the menu. "Or the roasted lamb. Both are equally delicious. I'm thinking the lamb."

Jennette raised an eyebrow. "So you're just giving up, despite what your superiors want? Why would you do that?"
--
Lillian nodded her response even as she began to shift. She turned into a red-tailed hawk and launched herself into the air, high above the treetops. Even at this altitude, the red tail's eyes were able to pick up the movements of mice in the grass below. She'd certainly be able to see Christoph and his captor if they were near the river. She followed the water as fast as she could.

"Sure, I can teach you some Spanish," Maria said, surprised and pleased by the girl's initiative. She frequently taught Sabel German vocabulary but it was nothing very formal at all. In truth, she wasn't sure how good the girl's English was, though she could imagine it being more advanced than might be reasonable to expect. She glanced down at her watch, which to her sadness read 20.52. "It's almost time for bed, girls," she said.
"No, thank you, Nichole," said Daniel. "Juice box for me!" said Anja, who after the briefest of pauses added, "Please."
"Wait, roasted lamb?" In a flash Nate had his menu open to the same place Faith's was. "Forget the Cornish pastie. Next time maybe. Lamb is one of God's greatest gifts to man."
((Heh, that's actually something that's been established in the Rp before. Nate likes lamb.))
Schwarz flew in the form of a golden eagle, the best combination of high speed and excellent eyesight she could think of. But as she traveled through the sky, she saw nothing on the surface of the water beneath her. She glided as much as she could to conserve energy while still going very near her top speed, and very quickly came upon the small islands which dotted these waters. Surely Möer wouldn't have stopped on any of these, so near the scene of the crime? She couldn't know. She couldn't know anything, and it maddened her.
((Before my idea, I have to ask you, Tangle: What sort of human enhancements would the Infinity Circle work on? Specifically, would it be possible for such enhancements to have been made on a subject and the subject go a long time afterwards without being aware of them?))

Lillian flew on, gaining altitude when she could. If she found Christoph and his captor and needed to follow quickly, it would help to be able to swoop downward with gravity on her side. But there was still no sign of the missing boy.

((Awesome. In that case, here's my idea. My character Felix was captured a few Rp years ago and experimented on by the RedKingdom. But in fact, the main scientist who worked on him, perhaps Cato, was secretly one of the last members of the thought-to-be destroyed Infinity Circle. He did... something to Felix, which I will leave totally up to you, and at some point after Felix was busted out, the scientist's membership in the Infinity Circle was discovered, but he immediately dropped completely off the grid before the RK could take him in for it. Erich has intelligence saying that Felix may have been a test subject of these experiments which is the real reason he's taken him in. And in reality Felix knew something about the experiments and either has blocked it out or the knowledge has been wiped from him by the WK. Meanwhile, Cato has been cut off from most of his resources since he is no longer with the RK, so his goal is just to find Felix.
I may have to retcon some things into Schreod and Archer's conversations but this could make sense. As for how Jennette factors into it, she's mostly there because Erich thought leverage would be a good idea, and Archer is talking to her on the chance that she knows more than Felix does. Which we could make happen, as it would be better if there's some kind of payoff for this subterfuge.))
Several minutes passed during which Schwarz could find absolutely nothing. Her flight had been endangered by bouts of dizziness one too many times for comfort when she suddenly registered the sound of approaching helicopters, and suddenly they were upon her—three military helicopters filled with WhiteKingdom officers she recognized. She didn't know where Valentine was at this point, but she needed to get onto one of these choppers before she plummeted out of the sky. So, seeing that the nearer one's door was open, she veered sideways, crashing in an ungraceful but not injurious landing in the back of the helicopter and quickly shifting back before they could question who she was, and brush herself off before they could question how she was.
((Hmm... idea. Night, wanna Rp Christoph?))

"Already?" Destiny asked. She didn't know how much time they had wasted while visiting Kurt. It had only felt like minutes before they were ushered out of the infirmary. But apparently, the entire day had passed by without her realizing it.
"You got it!" Nichole said with a smiled. Turning, the young woman began to trudge through the sand, back to where their car was parked. She was completely unaware of the person following her from a distance.
(Lol, I had to look up British food, and I just randomly picked something. Glad to see that choice was a good one.)
Faith giggled in amusement at Nate's reaction to the lamb. "You're in luck. There's several dishes made with lamb, each one as good as he next. You won't be disappointed with whatever you choose. I personal prefer the roasted lamb."
(Sure, I can try. Who's Christoph? And what part does he play?)

((Dawn, I totally just found a character you made on page 1 that I somehow just never added. You should take him up. Because he's RK and we need more of those.))
Maria nodded. "Unfortunately, yes. But there's one last thing you should know—starting tomorrow, you're going to be going to classes."
"You know I don't like you going anywhere I can't see you," Daniel said to his daughter in low tones. She didn't look at him, but plopped down onto the edge of the towel and began to roughly wipe sand off of it. "I know, you don't like anything," she muttered. Daniel could have responded, but it would have all been things Anja had heard before, and clearly just didn't understand. He merely clamped his mouth shut and watched her with sad eyes as she started to build up a tower in the sand. After a few seconds she abruptly stood and said, "I'm gonna go help Nichole." Before Daniel could reply she had grabbed a towel and was running back in the direction her babysitter had left. Daniel was left on the towel, wanting to go after her, but forcing himself to stay put. The parking lot was very close. She'd be out of his sight for only a minute. She would be fine.
"Sounds as good as anything." He raised his eyes, looking to get the attention of a waiter.
((Christoph's form is on the front page. Pretty much has everything you need to know. Except some stuff about his past, mainly that his father was a drunk who beat him as an isolated incident, after which his mother kicked him out of the house. His father was KIA and you can see what happened to his mother. I've never been that stoked about Rping him and I never actually have before because there was never a point, but his creator is almost definitely never coming back so he just kind of fell to me. But I already have a ton of characters and already Rp the biggest character Christoph would interact with so there's really no point to typing out interactions between them.))
