(What are you drawing?)
"Hurry." Avi knew he couldn't "hold the line" for long, not while he was in such bad shape, but when a deputy leapt to the ground in front of him, his old worries were replaced with new ones. It wasn't just the deputy. She had brought two other pack members with her, and clearly didn't wish to talk as they worked to corner the beast. Avi didn't back down, but he wanted to. It wasn't exactly a fair fight. Then again, maybe the wolves didn't know he had company, and the odds would be evened out.

(Well, a Dnd friend is having me draw his sweetie's WoW character and mount. I got the lineart done, but I wanted more practice for color, so I'm working on a new character who may or may not show up in our rp. I still need to get around to drawing Blair~)
Blair poured the silver shavings into the flask of oil and gave it a short second to soak before throwing down a line of oil across the floor of the cave. He slowly started to get closer to the creatures. He did his best to keep to the shadows and out of sight. His footsteps became lighter and he continued throwing lines of oil until he was left crouched behind the rocky formations only a few feet from the beasts ahead.

(Aw, that's kind of adorable. Do you have a Tumblr? I'd love to see more of your work o: )
"We'll take you alive, Avi, if you cooperate," the deputy half-growled, half-chuckled as she and her team drew nearer. These were the kind of wolves that liked to hunt for sport, and truth be told, they were probably too young to know what Avi had done. The others were there to see it and these three had only heard stories. "Then again, it seems like there's someone after you already. Why are you bleeding?"
"I fell," the beast replied, amber eyes blank.
The wolves erupted into laughter, creeping ever closer to their prey. "Must have been some fall, hmm?"

(Sure, it's in my signature ) Blair listened quietly, keeping himself still and silent. What would the wolves want with him? He couldn't think of anything other than to run the beast down, but Avi had said that they were a real threat. There had to be something they were capable of that he was overlooking.

(Oh, I'm on mobile xP Can't see anything. But I'll get off mobile for two seconds, haha)
"It was," the beast replied, his story the only thing giving him away. If he'd come up with something more plausible, the deputy never would have said what she did next.
"You're a liar," the wolf snarled, and lunged at for the beast. Avi clawed her away, but then the other two were on him. More or less. They seemed content to toy with their prey, raining Avi until his anger threatened to burst again. The fight wasn't looking good. He definitely needed Blair's help.

(okie The WoW commission isn't up yet, but that new character is so you can see the bigger image) Blair watched, waiting. He caught a brief second where the wolves just far away enough from the beast that he could act. He wasn't sure if silver would have an effect on Avi or not, so he decided to play safe for now. He threw the remaining flask of oil at the beasts, letting the bottle fly out of his hand and shatter, splattering oil and silver across the floor. He struck the ground with the flint and the sparks ignited the oil almost immediately. The flames leapt and cracked loudly, the silver scraps burning into the floor and their essence carried on the flames. Now they had to move quickly. He darted forward from behind the rocks and grabbed the beast by his upper arm, pulling him back into the cave. "Keep moving. Don't get the oil on yourself."

Disoriented by the silver, Avi simply complied and allowed Blair to drag him back into the cave. There wasn't much else he could do. His other option was to back into the flames. The wolves were clearly having a worse time than he was, though, and didn't dare cross the barrier. Instead they backed away, but didn't run.
Once they were safe—relatively, anyway—Avi turned to Blair, impressed, as much as he hated to admit it. The hunter was definitely someone he wanted on his side. Too bad the deal ended with one of them dead. "We don't have time. We have to go before they realize there's a way around back."
(Awesome, can't wait to see it)

"There's a back entrance?" Blair checked, keeping his voice to low to hear over the flames. As he saw the initial line of fire start to lose its blaze, he struck the flint on the wall, and retreated again, igniting another line. They had a fair number of them, and if he lit them all as they retreated, the wolves stood no chance to follow. None of the lines where close enough to Avi's possessions to burn them, but there was a good chance the wolves would take anything interesting. "Grab anything you don't want to lose." He told him before lighting another line as they passed it.

"Yes. It's difficult to find, but they're dogs. They can sniff anything out. Blood, especially." Avi didn't really own anything of value. What he did own, he was already wearing. The only thing he took before he and Blair ran was a mysterious book. Monsters, it seemed, did not require many material possessions.
The exit was some ways back, and the last time Avi tried it, he looked a little more human. Now he could see it would be difficult to squeeze through, so he waited for Blair to go first, keeping one eye on the flames, barely visible in the distance.

Blair turned back briefly to guess how long the flames would go for. Another three minutes at most... Maybe they could block the exit once they were out. That could give them a five or six minute headstart if they timed it well. Still not enough time to outrun the wolves to the edge of the woods. Without his weapons, he didn't have much of a chance fighting a group of three... He moved ahead, squeezing through the narrow gap as he tried to form a plan. It just being the two of them made it hard to organize a proper plan of action. They had to get out of the woods and recover. They'd injured each other in their fight earlier, and now Avi was probably shredded after getting ganged up on.
He broke free of the gap and stumbled onto the snow on the other side. While he was here and Avi was on the other side of the rocks... he couldn't stop him... He took out his phone and sent out a short message. "Come on, we can't stay in the woods."

(Dude your Tumblr is so sweet)
"What is that?" Avi asked, stepping away from Blair and the cell-phone. Even the silver hadn't scared him as much as that strange device in the hunter's hand did. He was bristling, fighting hard to keep from turning tail and running, when the beast realized it was probably harmless. Just odd. In all his years he had never seen anything so peculiar, emitting such strange signals. The question stood: what was it? It was hardly a priority now, though. He and Blair had to go. So the beast set off, a little more slowly than he would have liked, toward the edge of the woods.

(awww thank you ) "It's a phone." Blair admitted. "I've called for back up. Two of us can't fend off three wolves. We're both hurt, and all they have to do is howl to bring in more fleabags." He assumed Avi would resent his choice, maybe even refuse to follow him. "We're leaving the woods. We'll be back with proper supplies and a real plan." He said. The phone gave a soft 'ding' as he received a response. "Come on, we don't have a lot of time."

"I can't leave the woods," Avi protested, still a little confused by the phone, and pretending it hadn't surprised him when Blair got the notification. What was Blair going to do in town with an eight foot monster on his tail? Being eight feet tall wasn't the worst of it, either. The beast had horns on his head, not to mention his less-than-inconspicuous colouration. Long story short, he could not pass for human. Not even to somebody who couldn't see him. The beast's voice was too low, too monstrous. "Whom did you ask for help? What makes you sure they won't kill me?"

"Well you can't stay here either. Not to turn your own question on you, but would you take certain death to the wolves, or uncertain death?" He said quickly, trying to see past Avi. The fires were dying quickly. Once they burned out the only thing slowing the wolves would be the silver on the floor. "Come on, we're losing our head start!"

Avi hesitated. He looked to the dying fires and then back to Blair. He couldn't run. They'd just find him again. It looked like the hunter was right; he didn't have much of a choice. Eventually, the beast nodded. "Fine. I will go with you." Avi could not, no matter how hard he tried, come up with an explanation as to why Blair hadn't just left him for dead. If their places were reversed, the hunter would have, quite literally, been thrown to the wolves. And Avi felt guilty about that, but he also counted himself lucky. At least someone on their team had moral values.

Blair waited for Avi to clear the gap before he pushed a fair-sized rock in front of the passage. It wouldn't' be easy to move it from the opposite side, hopefully it would replace the time they'd lost trying to convince Avi of his plan. "Follow me and stay close. I told him were to meet us." He told him, turning and sprinting in the direction he'd come into the woods from. He turned up the brightness of his phone as he ran and raised it above his head, facing ahead. Hopefully his contact would see it and provide some cover fire.

Avi did he as he was told, albeit reluctantly and with a slight limp. He was much slower than Blair and frankly surprised the wolves hadn't caught up with them yet. Of course, the beast couldn't be certain he wasn't about to sprint straight through death's door anyway. Still, the hunter could have killed Avi waiting for him to get out of the cave. He could have just left the beast there, or not set the fires at all. The whole thing was very confusing to Avi. He was sure, now, that if their situations had been reversed, the beast wouldn't have hesitated.

Blair noticed Avi lagging behind, but kept his pace as it was until he saw the headlights of a worn pick-up through the trees where the dirt road ended. He waved his phone a little higher to get the driver's attention. There was silence as he moved forward, then a shot rang out. The projectile whipped past the beast's horns and Blair shook his phone a little more erratically. "That one's with me, Jul!" He called. He could see the silhouette of the person inside the truck reload the weapon and again point it into the woods, though they held their fire. Good, he'd only peg down the wolves, hopefully.

"Your 'help' shot at me!" Avi shouted, for some reason not so worried about getting away anymore. He didn't know what a cell phone was. Guns, though, people had been killing each other with for years. They were like trees. Everyone knew what they were, beast or human, no matter what. Cars were also a relatively foreign concept to Avi. He had definitely never ridden in one, nor seen an automobile up close, so he wasn't exactly sure what to do when he and Blair reached it. Climb onto the roof, maybe? He definitely wouldn't fit inside.

"I didn't tell him you were with me." Blair admitted. He'd never let there be written record of their arrangement, or anything that could hint toward it. As they came up to the truck, the driver opened his door and climbed out. A Korean man a bit older than Blair offered an apologetic wave to the beast, though he looked Avi over with a curious eye. He knew of beasts and the strangeness of their world, but rarely did he ever actually meet any creature that didn't look human-passing.
"Good thing I'm a poor shot at night, huh?" He remarked. "Sorry, Blair told me he was being chased and I thought you were... well, you get the idea. Climb in the truck bed and keep your head down." He instructed as Blair climbed into the passenger seat. The other man got back into the car and started up the engine again. Blair watched out the window for any sign of the wolves. Maybe they hadn't found the cave's back exit?

"This isn't over," Avi warned, though he didn't seem terribly angry about the ordeal, nor in the mood to fight. Relenting, he did once again as he was told and heaved his muscular form onto the truck, also watching carefully for the wolves. As they emerged from the darkness, rather than just shouting "go," the beast yelled, "They're coming. We have to go."
The real question: could an old pickup truck outrun a trio of werewolves?

(X3 sounds fun. I used to play violin and clarinet when I was in public school. I took piano outside school, but none of it really stuck. I just don't have the knack for music.)
As the man floored the gas petal and the truck tore off on the road, Blair picked up the gun and leaned over to the window. He checked it was loaded before he took aim and fired a warning shot in the direction of the wolves. Hopefully the threat of bullets or the sound of gunfire would make them rethink chasing the truck. The three of them were carried down the dirt road at speeds well above the legal limit for the area. Blair did his best to reload the weapon as the vehicle bounced over rocks and lumps in the road. As he finished loading another round, he stole a glance at he man.
"You alright, Julian?" He asked.
The man gave a weak nod, his eyes fixated on what the headlights could show him of the road ahead. Blair had never known him to be keen on driving anywhere, especially at night. Or at these speeds. He felt a bit bad for calling him out here, but he believed Julian recognized the bigger issue here.

Avi, whose vision was slightly above average in that he could see fairly well in the dark, watched as the wolves came to a halt and then retreated into the forest. It looked like one of them had been wounded, perhaps, but his eyes weren't quite that good. Now the reality of driving set in. At first the beast was only amazed by the speed at which the truck moved. Before this he never imagined anything could move so quickly, but the experience abruptly went from amazing to terrifying. Avi still didn't complain; he was just counting himself lucky he'd escaped a three-on-one attack. (It's kind of a blessing and a curse you know? I don't know what I'd do without it but at the same time, tears )

(;-; I understand completely.)
Blair didn't hear their pursuers for a full minute, but he kept his hand on the gun, and his eyes stayed on the trees behind them. He gave no order for Julian to slow the truck until the lights of the city came into view. He slowed slightly as they grew close, and as soon as they crossed onto a paved road, he slowed down to the speed limit. Blair leaned back and shouted the beast behind him. "Duck down and try to stay out of sight." He told him.
Julian continued driving, not stopping fully until they came to a small two-story building. He put the truck in park and climbed out, looking around to be sure no one was around. Blair did the same before going to the back of the truck while Julian unlocked the front door. "How bad did they tear you up?" Blair asked Avi. He hadn't really seen the extent of the damage since they'd started running.

"I don't know," Avi replied. And that was the simple truth. With his heart pounding so rapidly, the beast hadn't really paid much attention to his injuries—if there were, in fact, any—and had instead been concerned with running. Now he still didn't know. If there was one thing Avi hated, it was being stuck in the city. Since he'd last been there, things had changed so much. Skyscrapers, lights that weren't there before. The cityscape was familiar and yet completely foreign to the beast. "Why are we here? Do you expect me to hide among all these humans? What happens when the police see me?"

"Well, no one will see you if you hurry up and get in the house." Blair pointed out, gesturing to where Julian stood with the door to the building open. "Honestly, the police are the least of your problems. At least they're not actively hunting you like I'm supposed to be."
Julian watched the two by the truck, patiently withholding any comments or opinions. He waited for them to head inside, occasionally looking around to be sure no one was going to see them.

Reluctantly, and with great caution, Avi stepped inside the structure, keeping his mouth shut. Clearly it hadn't been built for people of his size. Why would it have been? No one was eight feet tall and built entirely of muscle. It was also strange to have four brick walls closing in on him. He wasn't accustomed to anything so...normal. They almost made him feel human again. Well, minus the tail dragging exhaustedly across the floor. That was difficult to ignore.

Blair gave a heavy sigh and headed over to the couch. He flopped down on it with little regard for what else was going on. Julian watched him a moment, standing as though he was waiting for something. When Blair gave no explanation nor offered any help, Julian gave a slight shake of his head. Whatever. He could deal with this on his own. He turned to the beast, looking him over again. "Here, come with me." He sighed, waving for the beast to walk after him as he headed into another room.
Unlike the entry room, this room didn't look like it belonged in a normal house. It was lined with gurneys, each of them separated by hung sheets, similar to a make-shift hospital. Everything was kept clean and organized, sheets devoid of wrinkles or any sign of use. He gestured to gurney nearest the door. "Go ahead and sit down, and I'll get a few supplies. Did Blair patch up your shoulder?" He asked.
