Ok, so there is a First name and then there is a Last name. If you have siblings, your siblings have the same last name as you. I'm thinking I should talk with people and have some people join with other families already joined as well as/instead of joining as a new family. You don't have to make the mom dad and kids, you can just make the kids if you'd like.
I'm going to be posting characters to claim that have families, lol but I'll do that when theres's a bit more time. If you'd like! You can be in the leader's (my) family! My family name is Ivy, which is the last name.

-history
IN the beginning, we were a simple folk. We lived our day to day lives as any other ... mortal. In those days, we were known as Sunclan. In the days of Sunclan, our ancestors had known some really awful hardships. This is the story of how we began โฆ
OUR ancestors were a thriving clan. They lived in the forest and made the small animals their prey. There were many predators that made them take refuge in the shadows. Though there was one that was the worst of all.
THERE was a gang of twolegs that scrounged through our territory. The twolegs made so much racket that prey became scarce.
THE twolegs also made camp in the territory, quickly discovering the river. The next thing the clan knew, their fish supply was in danger. They were running out of options. The leader at the time, Harestar, had sent a patrol to tail the twolegs to see what it was that had made them so eager; they were searching from dawn to dusk.
ONE day, the searching stopped and they focused on one part, a cave system that we usually stayed away from. The patrol saw them carrying out large rigid contraptions that threw rainbows into the air. Transfixed, the patrol edged closer, longing in their gaze.
NEARING the edge of the trees, they climbed to get a better vantage point. They leaned over and gazed in wonder. The twolegs had jagged colored rocks or all sizes and colors, 'This is what was in the caves all this time?!' they all thought.
JUST as one of the warriors was about to pounce, there was a distant growl that brought them out of their trance like state. They could smell clearly now the scent of the large cats and clung tightly to their branches; it was too late to flee.
BEING in the forest for a prolonged period of time, the twolegs had scared off nearly all the prey, leaving not just the clan but the large predators on the brink of starvation. There was a mother jaguar with her two yearling kits. The twolegs had been in the territory for nearly 8 moons, so the kits had to depend on their mother for the prey.
THEY hunted together now, crazed with hunger. The men that had appeared out of the cave had the worst of it, the remaining men in the cave fled, leaving the other two men behind.
THE patrol watched with bated breath as the jaguar family left the gory scene, dragging any remains with them. They could only remain hidden in the trees until they saw the tips of their tails flick as they entered the brush. Scrambling down with renewed fervor, they were running towards the contraptions before their hind paws hit the forest floor.
TWO of the patrol ran back to the camp to bring the clan to see the colored rocks. They were met with trepidation, 'how can we have never known the contents of the caves?' they asked themselves. After much persuasion that became borderline pleading, they convinced their clanmates to travel back to the caves.
GUARDING the rocks was the rest of the patrol. Tension had quickly been replaced by eagerness as they called their clanmates forward. The last rays of the sun vanished, but not before the clan had gasped as one seeing the rainbows thrown into the air.
AS the light faded, the cats gathered around the colored rocks. Even though the light faded, the colors were still vibrant, as though they were living. Harestar sent in a few warriors to see if there were any two legs left in the cave. Their usual unwillingness to go near the caves vanished and they entered the caves without hesitation.
THE clan watched as the Warriors entered the caves and were glad to see that the twolegs had left light behind when they left. Fire was held on sticks every couple of feet up on the cave wall. They went in as far as the light reached and didn't see a single twoleg left in the caves.
HARESTAR and the warriors pushed the contraption holding the rocks over and watched as their smooth color flooded over the forest floor. The cats drew closer, drawn to them like moths to flame. Harestar instructed the clan to bring the rocks back to camp.
MANY of the cats picked up one or two small rocks and began to carry them back to camp. The cats who initially made the discovery stayed behind to guard the rocks. As the clan filed back into the smallest clearing, the guards took a rock or two in their own jaws and carried them back to camp along with a few who just returned.
THE moon was beginning to rise and the warriors were guided by the light. Soon, all of the forest was lit by the moons soft glow.
THE clan gasped in wonder as they saw the rocks glow brighter than they had in the sunlight.
THIS is how the power of the gems came to us. When the gems were touched by the moonlight in clearing, their power, dormant until that moment, was activated and forever changed our lives. The forest was a very sacred place, filled with much spiritual energy. The energy was concentrated in the clearing, and this is where all the gems had been gathered.

This next one isn't an actual rule, just a request. If a ton of stuff goes one while there aren't a ton of people online, please summarize what happened just so the rest of us can get a general idea of what went on

-landmarks
Tavern of Time- the tavern that the Creators built before they passed
Arch of Creation- the arch that the wielders built to create more gems
Field of Earth and Sky- a large field that goes on for as far as the eye can see. It's where the earth and sky meet. It's on the edge of the forest, but the forest doesn't go the full length of the field. There are boulders strewn about and a tunnel system the wielders created.
Anyone want to add more landmarks?
-camp
The weilders planted many trees around the camp and now the only way to get into camp is either climbing or through the tunnels that they created.
The High Tree is where the leader makes their home and where the leader formally addresses the clan
There are many dens made from rock and earth that hold the various families in camp.
There are community dens that are used by wielders and novices
The nursery is the heaviest protected den in camp. It is made with very thick walls of rock that has a 3 foot tall barrier wall around it. There is only one way to get in and out. There is a separate smaller room where kitting is held.
-creators
THE Creators are the ones who discovered the power of the gems. They are the ones who learned how to harness them. They lived many long moons in peace, they did not have any problems with predators once they discovered the power. When they realized their time was coming to an end, they created the Tavern of Time. They made it near a waterfall and a small stream started to trickle in. They opened a small hole in the tavern so that for a few moments each day, the sun and moon would shine their light in the tavern. When the sun crossed the sky and shone into the tavern, the Creators placed a gem of each color into the pool and imbued the pool with the power to contact the Creators even after they had passed. This is how the clan contacts them to this day.

Shapeshifting- This includes any and all animals big and small. Mouse, rabbit, fox, horse, panther. NO mythical animals though. It can also simply change the appearance of the wearer, fur color eye color, give the wearer wings or horns, larger teeth/claws, all while staying in cat form. Medium -diamond
Increased senses-All five senses are increased while using this necklace; scent, eyesight, taste, touch, hearing. This is one of the more mild senses, it doesn't take long to master. Medium. - onyx
Healing-Healing can cure illnesses, fix breaks, heal cuts and gashes. It can get rid of fevers and draw out poison. None of this happens all at once, the more severe the longer the healing process takes. It cannot regrow limbs or reverse death. Advanced - turquoise
Fire-This can generate fire, make fire engulf everything in its path or put fires out. It can make fireballs, fire walls, it's fire bending from Avatar the Last Airbender. I am also thinking that since we have fire, maybe we can cook our prey? But if that's too weird then maybe not xD Hard - ruby
Earth-This can move the earth, make earth grow from the ground or make it go into the earth. Make structures and tremors. It can throw boulders and pebbles either from what's already above ground or take it from the ground. Hard - emerald
Air-This can control the wind, make it stop, or create it. It can push air around in forceful ways or use it to stay aloft. Easy - pearl
Water-This can control the current and pull water from water sources. It can freeze and unfreeze water. It can also control snow. It can pull water from plants and from deep in the earth. Blood bending is a thing but it causes immediate expulsion from the clan. Hard - sapphire
Super Speed-It makes the wearer move extremely fast, it can either be faster than the wearer was before all the was up to where the wearer is only a blur. The wearer can run over water while wearing the necklace. Hard - opal
Super Strength-This can break through rocks without causing harm to the wearer. Medium - garnet
Growth-This makes plants grow faster. After planting the seeds, they can grow the plant in one sitting, roughly 10-15 minutes. If it's larger like a tree, it will take more than 10-15 minutes, though if there are more people then the time can be lessened. Medium - amber
Telekinesis-This can move things with the wearers mind. The largest thing moved was a large boulder. It can move cats and predators and prey, it can bring things to you or push them away. It can push things on the ground or make them air born. Medium - quartz
Telepathy-This can make it so the wearer can read and communicate with others with their mind. It can also control someone, though this is forbidden and accusations are taken very seriously. There will only be 2 warnings against controlling someone's mind, though if the crime was bad enough, it can be only one warning or immediate expulsion from the clan. Easy/Medium amethyst
Invisibility-tree agate
Something the necklaces do, is lengthen the lives of the cats. The average lifespan of the cats is 25/30 years. This is just from wearing the necklaces throughout the day, every day. Also, being healed of any illnesses really helps. If they were to wear them all the time, they would become immortal, but this is why it is forbidden to wear them all the time.
So, there is no initial 'limit' to the power a necklace can offer. The a novice wielder can do the same thing as a most powerful wielder of a necklace can. But they are likely to pass out from anywhere to a couple of minutes to a day or two. They have to learn their limits, learn what they can do safely.
Since they have such long lifespans, they have the time to master all of the powers. There can be specialists in the different powers, but everyone is capable of learning the different powers.
The first time someone uses a power, they are likely to pass out. If super speed is used, they can reach the edge of the forest in a second. If they are trying to shapeshift, they may transform into a large animal. If they are trying to 'bend' and element, they may go way overboard. Make a huge wall of fire that licks the sky or create a huge earthquake. Telepathy and increased senses may overwhelm them. First users of telepathy are usually isolated with one or two wielders so that it won't be too overwhelming.
-Ceremonies
At the full moon, there are four cats chosen to carry a large raw diamond to the ceremonial spot. There's an stone arch that was created many generations ago. After the Creators had passed, the new generation took over care for the gems. It wasn't too long until they realized the gem stock was depleting. They went to the Creators in desperation, and found out what they needed to do. They built the arch overlooking the water down below, and they brought out the largest diamond that they had been holding for safe keeping. With the earth stone, they also created an stone obelisk in front of the arch to fit the diamond. When the full moon rose, the light shined through the arch and landed on the diamond. The arch lit up and the diamond threw rainbows onto the ground in front of it, and where the colors touched the ground, gems of all kinds sprouted from the earth in all shapes and sizes. Ever since then, they have been going back at each full moon to replenish their gem stock
When a new leader comes to power, a special necklace is made for them with their choice of powers. There have never been more than three, though only the strongest of wills could have that many powers to guide at once in one strong necklace. The bonding process will be done at the Tavern of Time. The gems that are to be put together are heated and then pressed together. They are then placed into the pool as quickly as possible. The gems are then bonded and the powers are evened so they can work together smoothly.
When partners become mates, there is, well basically a wedding. The leader calls the clan to gather at The Head Stone and unites the partners as mates. They then decide whose name is going to be taken, and this is the time where they can suggest a new name. If a new name is going to be taken, the pair travel to the Tavern of Time. They lay in the small pool of water and they speak with the Creators. Once the name is accepted, they are officially mates.
At 16 moons if there is more than one potential, they are taken to a pool and submerged, just their bodies, they don't get their heads under. They are then appraised by the Creators to determine which will become the next leader. They are groomed mainly by the second in command, there are special times when it is the leader.
When someone believes they have mastered a power, the leader and any others already proficient in said power will assess them. If the new power they master moves them up a class, a feast is held and they are celebrated. The leader acknowledges their triumph.
-family system
This will be a hierarchy clan. There will be a leader and a second in command. It will not be the leaders children that become the next leaders, rather it will be the children of the leaders' siblings. So it will either be the current leader's niece or nephew who will become the next leader. Their nieces and nephews will be known as 'potentials' until they reach the age of 16 moons, then they will be taken to speak with the Creators (our Starclan) and then they will determine who the next leader in training will be.
The cats have first and last names. They are families just like us, but not like real people last names like Thomas. It'll be thinks like Mist, Cloud, Feather, things like that. Since we can move earth, families have their own dens. There are community dens for novices and wielders. When cats mate, they can decide which last name they will take. If they would like to decide to make a new last name for themselves, they will first take their request to the leader. After the leader accepts it, they will travel to the Tavern of Time.

They live in a nice forest that has a gorge. There are a couple of different powers, one for sure is shapeshifting. Cats don't just have the powers, there are necklaces that give them the powers. So one of the ranks will be to make the necklaces. I am wondering if I should have one of the powers be to heal, so that there is no designated healers. There's a full moon ceremony to celebrate the first cats found the power of the necklace. Would anyone like to help?

I'm imagining a scenario where a novice cat thinks it's funny to stay invisible for a long time to pull random pranks for a while and stays invisible but then the necklace gets stuck and wont come off so everyone has to help an invisible cat. Bystanders are confused until it finally pops off/breaks and he becomes visible and highly embarrassed. I'm laughing so hard rn. xD |
