(GAH I'm late. Two hours late. Well, I guess I better explain myself. I had a bunch of work to finish, and that's what I was trying to do when I got home. I already had the starter finished then, but I was really hoping to finish the Trinity city description before then, but I'm kinda having block right now. Being sick doesn't help. So I was trying to do that, but then I realized that I wouldn't be able to get it done that quickly? Like it's being a pain in the butt to think up so. Here's the starter, sorry for the delay!) Theo lay in his bed, hands resting behind his head as he stared up at the wooden ceiling above him. He'd failed them. Not just the crew, but the captain, the ship, everyone. People had died- and it was all his fault. His incompetence. It had been four days since the attack, but every wound still stung just as sharply. He tried to control his emotions, steadying his breathing. Theo needed to be a strong leader for the remaining crew, especially since he had no idea when Nightwing would come back. The captain had left immediately after the attack, and no one had heard from him since then. He needed to be their captain, not just a helpless child who couldn't even control his own emotions. A faint knock sounded from the door to his cabin, and Theo gradually rolled himself into a sitting stance. “Come in,” he said, voice echoing hollowly through the empty room. It was Naomi, her light footsteps making only a dull thud as she approached. “We’re here,” she said with a faint smile. “Trinity.” Theo nodded, slowly rising to his feet. “Well, we better get going then.” The young woman nodded, following behind him as he made his way towards the passage leading above deck. The scarce few remaining members of the crew were assembled in a makeshift circle in the center of the deck. When Theo came up, they all turned to look at him. He felt a sharp stab as he met each of their eyes in turn, registering each person’s individual pain as if it were his own. “We can't change anything about the past,” he started, his voice surprisingly calm, “but we can shape our future. We may have lost friends, but the only thing we can do is keeping moving and hope that we can fill up the void threatening to overtake us.” He paused for a moment, trying to gauge their reactions. “We will never replace our lost comrades- that’s not why we’re here. But if we want to avenge their deaths, we’ll need more hands.” A bright light lit up some of the crew’s faces, as if the promise of revenge was all they needed to bring back up their spirits. But still others averted their eyes, the wounds of the past days obviously still clear in their minds. “Joeri and Salix- you two are going to look for the things we’ll need to repair the damage to the ship.” Salix shot Joeri a look, and he rolled his eyes. “Germain, Kolin, and Meru,” Theo continued, “you’ll go restock our other supplies.” Germain and Kolin nodded, but Meru only kept looking down at her feet. Theo was worried about her. He hoped her companions could help her out of the daze she’d been in since the attack. “Naomi and I will look for some potential crew members, but you all should keep your eyes open. You never know where the best ones will be.” Theo quickly assessed the group, eyes scanning every face once more. The group seemed to have more energy than they had had since the attack. The promise of a new adventure, new companions, and new experiences had raised their spirits- at least for now. “Alright,” he said, nodding. “Let’s go.” (Sorry for compulsory tagging it's a habit. Let me know if you want me to stop. liz lazy penguin @blubberywhales ᴄɪɴɴᴀᴍᴏɴ ʙɪʀᴅ Fireclaw3 cιnnaмon roll )

Phoenix xx Trinity Harbor ]]
Trinity Harbor. Biggest city of the Shadow Cluster, the pirate haven, and where Phoenix now stood. It certainly had the feel of a city populated by criminals, houses and other buildings in shambles due to negligence. That, and the huge port filled with almost nothing but pirate ships. She wasn't here to sight-see, however - this pirate city was merely one stop on the way to ... well, wherever. Anywhere she could get rich and live without fear of being caught. She doubted pirates would take kindly to a pickpocket, and would react much more violently than regular citizens upon discovering she had pilfered something of the likes of a small gold coin or trinket. Perhaps a port city on another cluster would make a good destination. The bigger the city, the harder you are to find. Her attention was jolted back to reality as a boy likely not much older than herself, probably just a deck hand, narrowly swerved running into Phoenix. She caught wind of a small mumbled apology, before he disappeared turning a corner. Pursing her lips slightly with mild annoyance, she turned towards the row of ships on this section of the dock to find anything that looked slightly friendly - instead, she found a pure black sloop with white sails catching her eye. And - was that a dragon for a figurehead? I thought all figureheads were just sirens. That being said, she didn't know very much about pirates. She was never a fan of water, or boats for that matter, and she always found herself aligning with thieves that were domestic to whichever town she was in. But still ... She could never be a pirate. She'd just be a deck hand anyway - her skill set was no use on a boat, or at least she couldn't think of any uses of being able to steal pocket watches that a pirate crew would need. Everything was done at sea, and Phoenix hadn't the slightest clue how boats worked. Two boat trips was certainly not enough to inform one of such things. All things aside, just standing there wasn't going to get her a boat, and she could feel her stomach starting to growl. Only question was where to find the tavern, so she began her search to find someone or something that could point her in that direction. Hopefully she had enough coin left to pay for at least a bite of food.

》Naomi xx Black Fang
● Looking over the crew with a solemn expression, Naomi only half listened to the Assistant Captain’s speech. After he had finished, it took the First Mate almost a full minute to make her way over to him. "Soooo," she started her voice quiet and shaky. "Do you have any place you'd want to start looking for new members Theo?" It wasn't easy for Naomi to be gentle. Inside she wanted to make an quick joke and keep moving forward. If you linger too long in the past, it'll consume you. Her old mentality repeated its assault on her brain. I can't afford to offend anyone, especially not during these rock ytimes, she scolded herself before realizing she was having a fake argument with herself. Ugh, I'm going to give myself a headache if we don't get moving soon. Looking up at the Assistant Captain, Naomi tried to straighten her coat, the soft fur inside relaxing her nerves. "Theo?" She repeated slightly worried.

::Germain and Meru:: Germain nodded as Captain Theo finished his ‘inspirational speech’- if you could call it that. It was really just an escape, an offer extended to each crew member for a different task than mourning. Germain was still glad for the distraction, though. He hadn’t lost anyone particularly close to him in the attack, but the staggering loss of life still weighed heavily on him. His companions had taken it much harder- except maybe Salix. She was extremely good at hiding her emotions behind bubbling enthusiasm, and Germain couldn’t tell if she even cared that so many had died. Meru took it the exact opposite way. He cast a glance over at the medic, but she hadn’t moved an inch. Germain sighed, moving closer to her and Kolin. “Well?” he asked gently. “Should we get going then?”
::Salix:: After the Captain had finished speaking, Salix immediately grabbed Joeri’s hand, practically dragging him behind her as they disembarked from the ship. The pervading sorrow that had covered the ship since the attack finally left as she placed her feet on solid ground, and Salix let herself smile again. It almost made her feel guilty to be happy around Meru with her sister’s constant mourning. Now, at least, she felt a heavy weight lift from her heart, and pulled at Joeri’s hand with renewed vigor. “Come on, Joeri!” she chirped. “Show me all the best repair places!”

She repeated slightly worried. :: Theo:: Naomi's words snapped Theo out of his stupor. He had begun to let his mind wander, nearly forgetting that he and the First Mate were supposed to be doing something. "Oh," he said, blinking a few times, "yes. Well." He smiled slightly at the memory of when he first picked up each of the crew members. They'd all been frightened, green sailors, looking desperately for work anywhere they could find it. Then the pain hit him again as his memories flashed vivid images of their deaths across his sight, relentlessly pounding their faces into his skull. You couldn't save them. You failed them. Theo shook his head slightly, trying to dispel these thoughts. "Taverns are never a bad place to look, right?" he said suddenly, trying to distract himself from his never-ending thoughts.
