I'm hoping to get my hands on some more crystals soon - does anyone know anything particular that help with focus? Because I'm struggling a lot with that lately. I've also been working on my book of shadows recently, so I'll pose some photos for you guys soon.

Hi i'm back and also still depressed. Being social did not help instead only made me crabbier but hey I finally bred that 6iv roselia i've been trying for while i was there. Off topic but yeah.
I'm struggling to focus too but also I've been REALLY BAD at making sure to get in my meditations and prayers so.

Ok, google tells me I need clear quartz and fluorite. I have a bunch of quartz, which I'll go and grab, but I don't have any fluorite. I'm slightly annoyed since I debated buying a chunk a few months ago (it was beautiful, too, all green and pink) but didn't end up buying it. I did learn that I can substitute tiger's eye instead, which I also have, but its not as good as fluorite.
I don't know if I have the time to get to any shops this weekend, but I might be able to go during the week. I might go to my local national geographic - they sometimes have some tumbled stones for sale, but I don't know if they'll have fluorite. If not, there are a couple of specialty crystal stores I can visit. Hopefully I can find some!

Do you have any clear quartz or tiger's eye? I've just discovered that they're really good for sharpening focus. If by chance you have any fluorite, thats even better! Hopefully that'll be able to clear your mind a bit and help you flu on your meditation.

Me and tigers eye are actually an incredibly bad mix - for everyone else it's focus and good luck, for me it's discord and accidents. No clear quarts surprisingly, out of my gobs of other stones... Or fluorite i don't think.
I don't use stones in my meditating though, i've kind of adopted the chaos magic system of doing it because it can also attune your magic sensitivity by reaching the altered state of mind. And I'm also glad that it's FINALLY a way to reach a sort of altered state with practice rather than being (no offense) kind of a nutjob with dropping acid and experimental drugs like some people think is fine and acceptable to do. To me, that method is wrong simply because your brainpower and thought is overall your mot valuable asset, and those types of things may get results faster but also just damage you in the end so you either 1. can't anymore or worst case scenario 2. go really coo coo for coco puffs.

Ah, I see. I don't know much about chaos magic, but hey, if it works for you. The 'altered state of mind' sounds like it could be interesting too. And don't worry about offending me - I don't condone or agree with drug use of any kind, so yeah. I could never imagine destroying my body in such a way. I hear quite a few horror stories where I live, so I stay far far away from that stuff. I seem to get quite a kick from meditation though. Sometimes when I go and see my therapist, I giggle madly for th entire 45 minute session. My therapist calls it a 'crystal high'.

That sounds funny and, honestly kind of adorable tbh if you don't mind my saying so.
I don't really want anything like that going into my body. Drugs, alcohol, even medicine for the most part I'd rather just let my body deal with. I have a pretty high pain tolerance and knowing that my body reacts very dangerously and severely to substances also kind of influence that choice, other than getting high or drunk just really doesn't seem appealing? Most of the time my pain can be fixed by eating more vegetables every now and then because I'm REALLY TERRIBLE at eating healthy stuff oops. And headaches are usually fixed by a shower and a nap lol.

Nah, its fine. I do agree that its really funny, and the people I've told think its hilariously adorable as well.
Yeah, I can relate. My pain tolerance isn't the best (but its gotten a lot better in the past two years, since I've been dealing with problems in my nervous system) but I've got a great immune system, so I don't get sick often. I hate the idea of anything foreign going into my body, however. I can barely stand injections/vaccinations. About a year ago, there were some really disturbing ads on tv trying to deal drug use and stuff, and they really freaked me out, so I don't even entertain the idea of doing any of that.

Oh, in terms of narrowing focus and things, do you sleep ok? I read that not enough sleep can impact the ability to focus on things. It seems also that meditating in a completely dark room can help, as it mimics sleeping or something and can help you focus/calm your mind.

I don't even think my aversion to intoxicating myself even comes from anything directly. I just kind of decided at a really young age I never really wanted to and that was that.
Actually, if anything it's because my grandma had a very abusive alcoholic for a father, and my mom had one for a husband, my biodad and knowing this i just went "Nah."

Haha my sleep is trash but I can't help that very much right now. My boyfriend's alarms to go to work go off at 6 or 7 in the morning and then i usually stay up until about 9am until i'm tired enough again and fall back asleep until 1 or 2pm. But i don't go to bed to begin with until midnight-1am. Which it's around that time now but lately my body can't sleep until I'm actually tired, so here I am.

Ugh, I hate not being able to fall asleep. Hm, its frustrating that you can't help it. It sounds like your getting quite a bit of sleep, even if its not all at night, so thats good. I'd suggest just lying still, but if you know you want fall asleep then thats just a waste of time.
I, for once, can't function on less than 7 hours sleep. I basically turn into a raging monster if I don't sleep enough

I was told a long time ago "beauty sleep" isn't an actual thing but. Sometimes I wonder if how much I always sleep is related to why people think I'm still in middle school because I don't look like an adult?
I've legit had people call my id fake because they can't believe i'm 18, almost 19.

Ugh, I can relate. I get ID'd all the time - I'm ridiculously short for my age (I'm only 5'2", and I'll be 18 later this year) - and its really frustrating. I got ID'd at the movie cinema the other week. We have a law here that says you can't see a movie rated MA (halfway between PG and R) without a parent unless your over 15 and like three different employees asked to see my ID. it's annoying, but also kinda satisfying to pull out my learner's driving permit, which you get once you're 16 and show it to them. I also got mistaken for a year ten student at school the other day, despite wearing my senior 'class of 2017' jacket -.-

I can't sleep when it's bright, but i can sleep at basically any time of day. Living in a basement also kind of nulls your sense of time anyway. It's not like I really have a window, lol.

Eh, kind of. Our ratings are weird. It goes G, PG, M, MA and R, but PG and M seem interchangeable in some cases. I've seem Pirates of the Caribbean rated both M and PG depending on where its showing. It's really confusing and they need to make up their minds. Here, Deadpool is rated MA if that helps??
Ugh, I wish I could sleep at any time of day. I have trouble sleeping at night sometimes because theres a streetlight right outside my window.
