Hi Brownie!! I wish I could help but i'm bad at plants. The most i'd do is just a normal non-magical flower garden. Which I guess could still be therapeutic? So "magic" for me being able to enjoy it I suppose.

I know the garlic and chives can be used in cooking, and yarrow may have had medicinal uses? they were all from a theraputic/historical garden so idek I just got plants from a kinda white elephant style exchange and was wondering what they were like. I know you and dingo both do plants so thought I'd check back here to see the direction I should go before just wiki'ing it

I know that if you break open a chive it can clear up some of your sinuses when you smell it because it's kind of like an onion. Garlic can be good for also keeping away negative energy or dispelling your own. (Also where the myth of keeping away vampires by having garlic around your neck/doorway partly came from.) Yarrow i'm not sure of aside from the Medicine cat use for it in the books, lmao.

I got it and I just stood there for a few seconds like, this exists, in my hands.

I know you and dingo both do plants so thought I'd check back here to see the direction I should go before just wiki'ing it *coughs* Here you go: Chives-- Medical uses: WIP Culinary uses: Often coupled with some sort of protein. Olden uses: Garlic-- Medical uses: Pliny recorded medical uses like the roasted bulbs are mashed up in oil and applied to bites and bruises. Fresh garlic was mixed with vinegar and water and used as a gargle for sore throats and toothaches. Garlic juices were used to treat earaches. Good for the lungs and throat, basically. Culinary uses: Used in as seasoning, both raw and cooked, in almost any dish. Olden uses: Used in ancient rituals for the Greeks and Egyptians. Yarrow-- My general knowledge of it: Common names: Milfoil, Thousand Seal, Nose-bleed Uses: "it belongs to the aromantic class of sudorific tonics. Achilles is supposed to be the first that left the virtues of this herb to posterity, hence the active principle of this plant is called Achilleine, which is much used in the South of Europe." My books only brought up that it's good with chicken. xD *puts on glasses and looks superior as she tries to challenge the master* Well, actually, garlic... Well, yes, the whole vampire stuff is what folklore says, but actually, it was more common to put in in your socks and/or shoes, because vampires in the area the garlic was used in actually went for the veins in feet instead of the neck. Later on, once the knowledge of blood sucking creatures grew, garlic spread to be used around the neck, wrist, whatever. Just what the local undead prefered to go for, wrap garlic on it or sprinkle garlic water around it. Garlic was used to keep away all manner of fae and spirits, not just vampires. It was seen as a 'pure' plant, and thus used to keep away all those dirty evil spirits. ...What I learn when I do research for my vampire series.

No problem. Surprisingly, my poor books can only tell me that chives are good to cut up and sprinkle over eggs. I guess it was more of a culinary herb than a medical one.

mintedstar/fur DING DONG YOU ARE WRONG where they bit actually depends entirely on the culture the lore first came from. European vampires had a belief they bit around the feet and ankles, but most other cultures believed it to be the neck. When lore started merging, so did where to put the garlic. Though yes I suppose you're right it was at the feet first and necks later due to outside influence.

It seems, however, that mint has beaten me to the answer! I can, however, add that home grown garlic is delicious, and is far better than store-bought garlic.
