Cedarstar | Camp Entrance -> Medicine Cat's Den | Mid-morning
Being a leader wasn't as smooth sailing as his mother interpreted it to be; it was grueling work, especially when a leader did not have their trusting sidekick.. A deputy. Fawnspeck had been gone for four moons now, and in the wake of her death, sickness took its place. Cedarstar had no time to pick a new deputy, let alone think of who he would choose to fulfill the duties tat Fawnspeck once had done so well. Not only was it hard without a deputy, but without a medicine cat too, the problems FinchClan was facing would be hard to recover from any time soon.
Letting out a shaky sigh, the chocolate tortoiseshell tom padded away from the camp entrance, where brambles were entangled around two small pine trees. He had been searching for a solution while he was out in the forest during the night, but nothing had come to mind. Maybe if he got an idea of what Pricklepaw was dealing with, he could solve the issues.. temporarily. With his lissome figure swaying from side to side, he quickly sprinted to the medicine cat's den where the only scents present was that of herbs and a young cat. There wasn't much Cedarstar could say how he felt about the medicine cat apprentice; it wasn't part of his job to mentor and bond with the tom, rather it was to converse with him from time to time and make sure that his training was going well. However, he had more of a relationship with the deceased medicine cat, Mistythroat. Their families were close, especially their parents; they grew up together and their mothers were in the nursery around the same time too. Unfortunately, his parents passed before Mistythroat's, who only has a father alive. But now wasn't the time to be revelling on the past, he had work to do.
Pressing his muzzle against the moss covered entrance of the medicine cat's den, he decided it would be best to make his presence known to whomever was inside. "Pricklepaw, are you in here?" the leader asked, peering in. "Are you asleep? It's mid-morning now, you know.."
Now, he didn't want to intrude, but he simply wanted to speak to the medicine cat apprentice; which reminded him of something.. Pricklepaw's sensitivity. Oops. If Pricklepaw was to be honest about his current state of affairs, he would probably have to be frank and tell you that it was as horrible as horrible could be, and far worse than he could have imagined his early life going. There were many reasons for this, to be honest; he was self conscious and fidgety, a little out of shape, and not particularly in the best state of mind; but the main reason for this would have to be the fact that in the twelve moons of his existence, he had witnessed four deaths, and none all too timely in their arrivalโฆ or rather, their departure. And unfortunately, one could predict that thereโd be more.
Flicking his tail across the soft, peaty ground, Pricklepaw was silent for a moment as he studied the work before him. Like scales on a fish, stacks upon stacks of herbs, berries, and other woodsy bits and pieces rested at his fidgeting paws; their colors muted by the sun that bleached them, but scents all the stronger. Their smells permeated the air, and socked into his pelt; staining his skin like a paste, so that he smelled floral and sweet, and shockingly pleasant. Not that he could tell though; heโd grown accustomed to it, you could say; nose blind, even. But that just came along with the job in his line of work.
Yes; his work.
His excessive, neatly aligned workโฆ
โPricklepaw,โ
Sucking in a sharp breath, the small tom practically leaped out of his skin as his name hit the air; and with a bristled, fawn colored pelt, Pricklepaw was on his toes and speaking. โCedarstar?โ He meowed quickly, his voice high with a startled anxiety as he whirled in search of the tom that was addressing him.
What was Cedarstar doing here?
Gaze meeting the large torbie looming at the entrance of his den, the little apprentice was slow to pad in the direction of the tom, his steps hesitant and puzzled as he looked up at him with large, dark copper eyes and a soft, round face.
โMay I help you, sir?โ He asked.

Cedarstar & Pricklepaw | Medicine Cat's Den | Mid-morning
The sound of a young meow captured Cedarstar's attention as he drifted off into his thoughts, leaving him to regain his composure. Shuffling his paws before standing tall, he gazed back at Pricklepaw, who appeared so childish, so.. naive. It was remarkable how he didn't look like he hadn't groomed in days or taken care of himself properly. "Good morning, Pricklepaw," he greeted, dipping his head slowly. "I suppose you can, if you'd like to, of course."
His pine green eyes scanned the inside of the medicine cat's den carefully as if he were taking every detail in. He was beginning to learn the details that one wouldn't normally observe when they padded in. Tearing his gaze away quickly, he turned to the medicine cat apprentice, his large figure towering over the small one in front of him. "May I come in?" he mew, flicking his right ear forward, as if to say he'd prefer to converse in private, not out in the open. "I'd like your advice on some things, considering.. the situation we have now, you know. Catch my drift?"
Knowing that the apprentice would obey him, the chocolate torbie delicately pushed his way past the tomcat. Subconsciously, he flicked his ear again, motioning for Pricklepaw to follow. It was really a second nature for the leader. He stood to the side, opposite of the herb storage before speaking again. "Have you had any recent complaints of sickness or have you noticed any cats showing signs like Mistythroat did?" Cedarstar inquired, pressing his paws together. "I'd also like to inform you of a plan or two I have in mind if this gets any worse. I know we've lost four beloved cats of our own, and there needs to be a way to solve it. It may not be logical like most plans, but I'm unsure if we have enough time to spare. So, what do you have for me, Pricklepaw?"

Characters you wish to claim: Starlingdance and Clearfrost Extras: Nope
Roleplay Sample: Wrenwhisker was looking around the camp trying to avoid others. He wasn't in the mood to talk to others, nothing really bad happened. Although he rather stay out of conversations as best as he can. The lithe tom went to his favorite spot in the camp it was quiet and serene and he wouldn't be bothered. As he was padding up to it, although there was a tom. He sighed mentally it seems like he couldn't get away from his Clanmates. He didn't know Leaftumble all that well but noticed he wasn't in the best of mood. "Afternoon Leaftumble," he said in a calm serene voice. It was deep but calm like an undisturbed pond. He stood where he was not daring to get too close to the tom. "Is something troubling you? You don't have to talk to me of course, just concerned."

[ hello my dudes ]
SN: Christa
Characters you wish to claim: Splashberry & Pebblepaw
Extras: n/a
Roleplay Sample: Foxgaze let out a hiss of frustration as the chickadee she had been stalking called out a cry of alarm, its tiny wings fluttering to get away the moment the sound of dried leaves cracking hit the air. "Foxdung!" She swore underneath her breath, turning around to see what caused the commotion -- a small ginger tom by the name of Redpaw. "Hawkdapple," she hissed to the young tom's mentor as she appeared from behind some foliage, a mouse dangling from her jaws, "why aren't you keep an eye on your apprentice?" The chocolate tabby molly just flicked the tip of her tail and muttered an apology around her fresh-kill, gesturing for Redpaw to follow her back into the undergrowth with a tiny flick of her ear. She ignored Redpaw's meek whisper of "sorry!" and stalked away from the pair, the tip of her tail twitching irritably behind her. One miss isn't the end of the world. she reminded herself, forcing her russet colored fur to flatten back down. With a small huff, she opened her mouth to taste the air, hoping that the apprentice didn't scare away the rest of the prey by the small hunting patrol.

Characters you wish to claim: Leafripple, Mumblepaw, Mousetumble
Extras: N/A
Roleplay Sample: Leafripple's ears perked at the distant sound to his left, causing him to freeze in place as his muscles tensed in anticipation. The sound continued, and he was able to make out the quiet scurrying of a mouse or shrew. Turning all of his attention towards this one point, Leafripple carefully began to pad forward, his feet easily avoiding the litter of leaves that covered the ground below him. He'd been doing this for a long time now, so it was like second nature to him now. Or so he thought. A twig miraculously appeared below one paw as he set it down, the crack resounding in the quiet forest before he could stop himself, and like that his prey had escaped leaving him less than pleased. Ears twitching with barely contained frustration as he felt his face warm at his mistake, he thanked Starclan that he had been lucky enough to be alone at the time.
{ I hope this is ok- if there's anything that needs to be changed or fixed let me know! I tried to make sure the characters hadn't already been taken- but I definitely could have missed something! }

{{ -` gumi ยด- .โซ ๐พ -- sorry for the late starter ~ }} Gorsepetal | Apprentice's den | Mid-morning As a mentor, Gorsepetal always demanded that her apprentice be up by morning, if not earlier when they had their dawn patrol assignment. Stretching out her small paws, she stood in wait for Cloudedpaw, who she assumed was still asleep like many of the apprentices. She wasn't the most patient cat either as temptation found her, calling her to peek in and create havoc among the young cats.
Luckily, she knew that it wasn't her place to do that even though she was a senior warrior. Taking a deep breath, the pale ginger tabby stepped into the oak den, feeling the darkness consuming her sight. Coming to a halt, she blinked slowly before searching the den for Cloudedpaw's nest. It didn't take her too long to find the senior apprentice's spot as she weaved her way around sleepy cats. Yet again, Gorsepetal came to a stop, not too far from the white she-cat's nest. "Cloudedpaw?" she whispered, unsure if the young feline was there or not. "Time to wake up, we don't have an entire day to waste, you know. It's already mid-morning and another patrol is supposed to go out any minute now.. We should catch it while we can."
Whether Cloudedpaw was in her moss nest or not, the senior warrior risked waking up a den full of some apprentices who were still asleep. If she woke any of them up, she wouldn't really care because, after all, the clan wasn't going to work on its own with only a few felines awake.

{ Ok cool~ I'll just go ahead and write up a starter for all of my characters so that anyone can jump in wherever they pleased~ }
Leafripple wasn't old, by any means, but that didn't mean he didn't enjoy laying out in whatever spots of sun could be found shining through the breaks in the tree canopy's. The warmth felt nice on his light colored pelt, and if he was honest he hadn't been getting much sleep with this threat looming over them all. It was a daunting thought, knowing that at any moment he could start showing signs and a week later be exiled to his own devices. Huffing out a sigh as his relaxation was brought to an end, the tom cat slowly stood back up and stretched out his muscles, figuring he should probably go do something to get his mind off of the more morbid happenings within the clan.
Mousetumble was probably being even less productive, if that were possible, considering the fact that the pale gray she-cat was currently very interested in a bug that had stumbled into camp. She'd spent the last thirty minutes following it around, and would probably spend another thirty minutes if her attention wasn't diverted. Had she been using it for pouncing practice, it probably would've been fine- but unfortunately she was just merely intrigued to see what purpose this bug had. Did it have a family? Was it hunting for food? She wanted to know. At least it wasn't as bad as the time when she had gotten separated from the hunting party because a butterfly had flown past.
Mumblepaw was bored out of his mind, wishing his mentor hadn't had to go on a patrol and leave him behind. Just because he had been caught leaving bugs in said mentors nest shouldn't mean that he has to go through and clean every one's bedding. It was almost cruel! Ok so maybe he somewhat deserved it, but the small black tom wasn't going to admit that. Grumpily dropping off another piece of dirty bedding, the apprentice resisted the urge to throw even more bugs in his mentors sleeping spot. While it would give him the satisfaction of revenge, he didn't want to spend another day doing this.

- - Cloudedpaw && Gorsepetal
Deep inside a dream, the white she-cat found herself running around the elm trees, chasing after a mouse or two. She was alone and free, the air running through her pelt. Little did the apprentice know how much twitching she was doing that night. Until Mintpaw cuffed her ear and woke her in the middle of the night. Cloudedpaw managed to fall back asleep in just mere seconds, up until it was mid morning.
The sound of birds filled the white cats ears, causing her to growl in annoyance. I was sleeping so good! Cloudedpaw thought with a huff. Though, she didn't make a move to get up until she could smell her mentor entering the den. Her ears twitching, the solid white she-cat slowly sat up, stretching her paws in front of her when Gorsepetal spoke up. Her whiskers twitched and she let her gaze shift over to the other she-cat. "I'm up, I'm up. Keep your fur on." Cloudedpaw mewed teasingly as she nosed her way out of the den, not missing stepping on Mintpaw's hindleg, earning a sharp yowl and hiss, yawning as the pale sunlight warmed her pelt.
The thought of going on a patrol never seized to excite her. She was going to be a warrior any moon now, and she loved patrolling with all the experienced warriors; senior or not. But then, the reminder of the sickness outbreak made the white furred bobtail shiver. Would she get sick like that soon? Cloudedpaw sure hoped not. She sent a silent prayer to Starclan, in hopes to keep her healthy.
"Who's going on the patrol, Gorsepetal? Is it border, or hunting?" Cloudedpaw decided to ask, the thoughts of sickness vanishing as quick as they came as she bounced on her toes, ready to go out of camp.

Gorsepetal & Cloudedpaw | Outside the Apprentice's den | Mid-morning Hearing a growl of annoyance coming from Cloudedpaw only amused Gorsepetal as she let out a small mrrow of amusement. She could tell that the apprentice had been sleeping quite well compared to some of the apprentices whom she had already noticed were up and out of their nests before the rest. Too bad she didn't end up with one of them as hers. Padding after the young feline, she glanced over her shoulder at Mintpaw, who seemed to be getting the brunt of things from the she-cat before her. This was more than amusing; it was hilarious, especially with the reactions that were included.
"I don't think I can keep my fur on much longer," she joked in reply before ducking out of the oak den.
Feeling the pale sunlight soak into her pale ginger fur, the senior warrior felt a chill spread down her spine. It wasn't the warmest day of the season, but at least it felt refreshing. Sighing loudly, she turned to Cloudedpaw, who never seemed to be excited by a patrol, or really any type of training for that matter. "I heard it was hunting," she mewed. "Though I'm not exactly sure because Ashberry mentioned the dawn patrol went out late this morning and they didn't have enough time to cover all of the territory. Anyways, what would you rather do, Cloudedpaw? You can pick today." - {{ ยป ๐ธโ๐ณโ๐ดโ๐ผโ๐ซโ๐ฎโ๐ทโ๐ชโ , would you like one of your characters on the patrol? }} -

- - Cloudedpaw && Gorsepetal
Cloudedpaw took a moment to comprehend what the she-cat was saying. She was picking what kind of patrol they were doing? A glint came to the white she-cats bi-colored gaze as she thought long and hard. She knew she could always go for the border patrol; it required less work out of her. If she really wanted to hunt, she could do so on the way back from the patrol. Her ears twitched. A hunting patrol wouldn't require her walking throughout their territory, making sure every marker was set, but it required most of her energy.
After the moment pause, Cloudedpaw eventually decided. "Could we do a border patrol? If I'm up for hunting, I'll try to catch some prey on the way back to camp for the elders to eat. If that's okay, Gorsepetal? Are we going alone, or are we taking more cats with us?" She mewed, noticing how she was rambling. Her very short tail wagged at the thought of going with others, though she wouldnt mind going alone.
The white she-cat was oddly excited to get out of camp and train; maybe it was the thought of becoming a warrior in some moons. Or maybe it was just the dream that left her excited. All in all, Cloudedpaw didn't seem to care much how enthusiastic she sounded to go on patrol. She just... was, and she went with it.
[ wowow this was rlly bad i'm sorry ;^; ]

{ I'll go ahead and join in now- and I'll hope it won't mess up Minho's reply any~ }
Mousetumble followed the bug up until it reached the oak den, nearly running nose first into the warrior that stood before it. Eyes trailing slowly up to see the owner of the ginger fur, she offered a sheepish laugh as she quickly straightened up. "Hi Gorsepetal... I was just- practicing my stalk....? I wanted to make sure I was in tip top shape for the next patrol- of course!" She quickly stated, attempting to salvage her pride as she attempting to ignore the flush that seemed to heat her whole body with the embarrassment she felt for being caught. While she was sure that everyone knew what an 'air head' she could be, it wasn't exactly fun to be caught by one of your superiors. Especially since she was so freshly graduated from being an apprentice herself. Glancing behind the she-cat to see the said warriors apprentice, appearing more than ready for something or other. "Are you two going out on a patrol...? I could go with you guys- if you need someone else-!" She offered, ears perking up at the thought of saving whatever dignity she could by showing the senior warrior that she definitely deserved her rank.
