(Hahah true x3 Ugh I have so much homework and it's so mind-numbingly boring... I'm gonna keep wasting my time on here instead.)
"You would think, wouldn't you?" Quinn smirked as she realized who it was and rolled her eyes. Of course. She brushed herself off and her hand went to her hair, which was braided to one side, curls on the other. "Officer Davenport, I'm afraid I'll have to report you for attacking one of the Selected. It was very rude to simply move into my way like that." She shook her finger playfully, green eyes sparkling with amusement. "I mean, c'mon, Gil, I'm already a mess enough as it is! I don't need you shoving me over." She joked, poking him.

Gil let out a laugh, rolling his eyes. "Imagine that headline? 'Palace Guard Harasses Selected Girl.' Jesus, the palace would take forever to bury that over." His eyes grazed over her body before he went on. "Oh, come on, Quinn. Some guys find the whole messy look attractive. Maybe Alexander will be one of them." Gil said this with a twinkle in his greenish hazel eyes. "And before my impending dismissal after your report, do you need me for anything? This post isn't a huge deal, it's an optional one." This was true: the hallway corner position wasn't necessarily needed, and they were told if they needed to leave to help a Selected girl, they were allowed. And, well, Quinn was a Selected girl, and if she asked him to do something for her, he wouldn't be allowed to say no.

Quinn giggled. "I better not report you then... Who else am I going to practice hair and makeup on?" She crossed her arms, a fake thoughtful expression flitting across her face before she broke into a smile again. "Well, if you have some magical way to make me seem presentable and not like a spastic teenager in front of the Queen, that would be quite nice." She joked, although the slight waver at the edge of her voice betrayed how nervous she was about this whole thing.
(Not much. We skipped the girl's sleepover until the next morning, and I'm waiting until more people get on to start tea time with the Queen.)

Gil began to shake his head, a lopsided grin still gracing his sharper features. That was until he heard the slight waiver of Quinn's voice, which made his grin drop quickly. "It's the Queen, Quinn. She's a regular woman just like you. You just have to be yourself with her. Be genuine, okay? She understands the nerves." He shook his head, casually reaching over to put his hand on her arm in a reassuring way. "And if it's any consultation, I don't think you're a spastic teenager. Just get ready like you'd do if you were going to meet the mom of the boyfriend that makes you feel loved and comfortable," he tried. "Just think of a guy. I'm sure there's been one back home who makes you feel like that." If just realizing what he was saying, and that his hand was still resting on her, he let it drop, eyes looking away briefly, beating himself up. Oh, God, he sounded like an idiot.

(aww Gil cute cute cute cute x3)
Quinn listened to what Gil had to say, a warm blush spreading over her cheeks, once again, when he mentioned a guy at home. "Thank you, Gil, really." She said softly. "And, um, no, there's, uh..." Her gaze flitted to the floor. "There's no guy. I mean, no one ever- I never got the chance to-" Fall in love. She stopped talking before she got herself even more twisted up. "Thank you, really." Returning the gesture she placed her hand on his arm for a brief moment before letting it fall. "Well, now that we've cleared up I'm not a spastic teenager," She cleared her throat from the emotion that had built up; Gil sounded like he genuinely cared, and that meant a lot to this girl. "You still owe me a city sunset. Don't think I've forgotten!"

Gil still had the expression of mild embarrassment when she looked back up at him. Jesus - Quinn wasn't the first girl he ever did this casual, road-to-nowhere flirting with, if it could even be called that, but for some reason it was getting hard. He was probably spending way too much time with Juliette. When Quinn noted that he owed her a sunset, he rose his eyebrows. "You still owe me my first rural experience," he reminded her. He was born a Two, grew up a Two, was a Two who was born and raised in Angeles. He did tell Quinn at their first conversation he'd never even stepped foot onto a dirt road before, due to a mix between his caste and hometown. "Tonight, then. It's a date, if you're free," he told her, half expecting her to wave him off.

(Hi, guys! I'm a little under the weather and in danger of nodding off, but I'm here! Where are Quinn and Gil and their blossoming, forbidden, drama-laced-so-of-course-I-love-it relationship? Hazel will be buying in shortly. *cue evil grin* )

(everything is Juliette's fault, obviously XD They're just in the hallway right outside the girl's rooms, Holly x3 Cue Hazel!)
Date? Quinn blinked quickly at that word, her heart speeding up and she gave a small smile. "I'd like that." She said, before mentally smacking herself across the face. Idiot, you're here for the prince! Never mind that you could get put to death for dating outside while you're in the Selection. "I'm pretty sure I'm free. If anything comes up, I'll let you know. But let's count on it." She held her hand out for a shake, a smirk on her face. "Remember, if I think country sunsets are better, I win... something spectacular." The girl joked. "And when I get sent home, you can always come visit, anyway. And see a country sunset, then see how absolutely right I am."

Honestly Gil's go-to I'm not even going to lie)
If Quinn thought Gil wasn't thinking about that the fact that he wasn't also thinking about the Selection rules, she was utterly wrong. A voice - which sounded suspiciously like his father - was yelling at him, telling him that she was, technically, Alexander's. Against his better judgment, Gil took her hand in his and shook it. When he dropped it, Quinn was carrying on about when she was going to let go, and he was surprised to feel himself dreading hearing the day she was going to go. "Don't say that. I like you, who's to say Alexander won't like you, too?" He was fully unaware, at the moment, that the word "like" could be taken in two different ways. Did he mean he liked her, as a person, or like like her? Who knew!

Quinn shrugged. "Well, at our first meeting, he hardly seemed impressed with my profession. I doubt I'd be a useful Queen, either; a farmer." She withdrew her hand, glancing down at her nails that were now expertly painted with french tip, something she was hardly used to; it kept catching her off guard. "And I'm not sure I like his snobby attitude." She joked, although she did genuinely hope that Alexander liked her; it wasn't even a real feelings sort of thing, just the idolization that the entire country had of him... It was hard to not want to be liked. Oh, and she did not miss that "i like you" part of Gil's speech, and was immediately analyzing it in that brain of hers; He likes me? How does he like me? Like, I'm his friend? Or more? Why am I hoping it's more? Pull yourself together, Quinn. God, grow up! She shook her head briefly then smiled up at Gil again. "There are much more suited people to run this country than I am. Plus, when I'm running against the beautiful Lady Gil, how will I ever compete?"

Hazel came traipsing into the hall then, and inserted herself into the conversation with her usual winning bluntness. "Unless, of course, he likes me better," she joked, stopping beside Quinn and Gil. She had only heard the last sentence or two of their conversation, and was oblivious as yet to the date they had set up. "Morning, Gil. Today's version is that you're my genius inventor son who built a time machine but has gotten stuck in the past." She delivered this statement as if it were perfectly ordinary, ten turned to Quinn. "Are you ready for this tea? I'm skeptical...I don't care much for tea."

OHhhhh my god I'm dying I haven't been on in days because of homework I'm so sorry. I can't even read everything tonight because I'm studying for a really important APUSH test and french quiz. I will be on as soon as I can! I can probably catch up tomorrow afternoon and since this weekend is a three day weekend I will definitely be on! Plus my school loaned us all fancy chromebooks and most good websites are blocked but this one isn't, so it's easier to use than my old laptop LOL)

(Hey Amber! It's all good, Astrid! I totally understand ^^)
Quinn made a weird face at the whole genius inventor bit, then couldn't help but give a laugh and realize it was probably just one of Hazel's things. "Hey, Hazel. Yeah, I'm not so sure about it either. Lady Gilberta Breanna here was just telling me about the Queen." She rolled her eyes, elbowing Gil playfully. "Anyway, yeah, I'm a bit nervous. But I feel like I'll hardly be noticed, I mean, Giselle is going to be there, so that might actually be a good thing." Quinn glanced at Hazel. "Which reminds me! I think she's out for blood as of last night."

Hazel shook her head. "I thought it would be easier to have one story per day, instead of just spouting whatever came to me in the moment." She laughed. "I think I like the male version better. Anyway, I think Giselle was always put for blood. I don't know what the big deal is. It's not like we drew on her face with a sharpie." She shrugged, then instantly regretted the decision when she had to tug on her strapless dress to make it feel secure and in place. "I told them this wouldn't fit me..." she muttered. They'd dressed her in a pale, creamy yellow gown with a straight neckline, a full knee-length skirt, and a few pearls for decoration. It was much, MUCH tamer than whatever Hazel would have picked for herself, but until her maids caught on to her taste, she supposed there wasn't much point in fighting over it. Her hair was adorned with a simple, girly bow that she was actually quite enjoying. She felt so polished. Did the quee get this treatment every day?

Roberta slid through the halls. She had lay out an outfit for Selena earlier, which was her way of justifying her actions as she stopped outside Fel's door. She'd fulfilled her duties to Selena, so this was okay. She slowly opened the door and glanced inside for any sign that Fel was awake.

She saw Feel sitting at the desk and carefully stepped into the room. Moving closer, she hesitated before stopping a few feet away and folding her hands behind her back. Clearing her throat, she spoke up, "Are you ready to go meet the queen?"

At the sound of Roberta clearing her voice, Fel jumped and yelped out a curse, obviously not expecting visitors. But it seemed like once she realized it was Roberta, she visibly relaxed. "Oh, you scared me," she said breathlessly, laughing slightly. "I guess I'm as ready as I'll ever be." Quietly, her hand went to her hair which had been straightened, then to her neck where she wore her necklace, the only possession she couldn't be without, as it was her mother's.

Roberta smiled and stepped forwards, "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to startle you." Reaching forwards, she carefully fixed a loose stand of Fel's hair. She glanced over at the desk, but didn't ask. It was none of her business anyways. Instead, she took a step back and smiled, "You're going to do well, I'm sure of it. Just be yourself."

(Um, yes please XD)
Quinn laughed. "I mean, that would've been a munch better prank." She noticed Hazel's discomfort and nodded in agreement. "It's so hard to get used to all this," She waved her hands around. "Dresses, makeup, jewelry, being treated like princesses... Can you believe they do this every day?" The girl asked, referring to the royal family. "And one of us will get to do it too." She glanced around, wondering where the other girls were. "I wonder if we should head down... It's almost two."
Giselle walked out of her room, making quite an exit. Her short, black dress showed off her legs, her feet fitted with snug heels, her hair curled into small ringlets and her make up, as usual, was heavy. "Girls!" She grinned, the fakest grin you've ever seen, and walked up to them. "Aren't you so excited to meet the queen? Oh I just can't wait! We'll have so much to talk about! I mean, of course you guys will to." She tossed her hair over her shoulder. Quinn gave a tight smile. "Good afternoon, Giselle." She muttered.
