Content! Worldbuilding! Moons! And we're talking about plants in bio and ~technically~ my hanging cave plants could easily have mutated from regular genetics. Well the hanging part not the growing through and gathering nutrients from rock thing but. CLOSE ENOUGH FOR ME

We'll get to see a good deal more of Siva before this is over. ;D I really need to do a concept art just for the moons because space is cool
and yeah I got the concept from eragon, as in the ancient language the language physically won't allow anyone to lie while speaking it. If the chemical composition of the air already messes with perception of the world and emotions, giving it a connection that prohibits deception is well within it's powers.
I was thinking the air works more like a hormone would to the brain. Chemically speaking, like Breeze said, it makes more and stronger connections to mimic emotions. Like caffeine but in the air and all the time.

Also on svanni language: Ruby (Eqviir) literally translates to "Red Star". Eqn being "red" and viir meaning "star" Leaf (Pallus) actually translates better to "branch" or "small tree". Leaf is actually "Tevra" and tree is "palla" Breeze (Iqval) literally translates to "Dead Air". Iqre the infinitive "to die" and val equivalent to "Air" and "sky", both used as one. You breathe sky in Siva. Glimmer (Illivus) is interesting, as "glimmer" could be translated to the verb Raie (or any root thereof). Illivus comes from Innivra "the Shining Godess". -us is tagged to mean "to become" or "to create" but in this case is used metaphorically as a "similar to" or "of the" Shining One.
Ivy(Parv) Holly(Drav) and Shadow(Tevrus) are all direct translations of their words. Shadow being the noun here, not the verb (Tevraie), to darken/take light from.

ERAGON. ERAGON. YESSSSSS (i need to do a reread but all my books are at home ;~; ) oh god. actual caffeine in the air all the time is a terrifying thought. YESSS I have all four on my bedside bookshelf (you know you're a book nerd when you don't have a bedside table, but a bedside bookshelf xD) and it would be more the way caffeine influences the brain, um the chemical composition not the effects of per se. Idek I haven't taken physiology in a while rip me but like. . . a steroid chemical that replaces hormones in the axioms of the brain. Makes strong chemical connections that can cause emotional backlash on the mind, depending on what connections are being forged and what already exist. I'm totally having it so it helps with memory as well. Since memory is just storage, this chemical brain stew can help engrave those connections and preserve memory to create an almost life-like rendition with other aid (meditation and/or additional cognitive substances)

aw. I like books around, it's like they can whisper to my dreams. Be like Maggie from Inkspell, put a book under her pillow so it can whisper magic to her all night long.
haha maybe. Cells and plants are more my style. I hated human physiology, it was basically a whole semester of learning all the different ways your body could kill you from the inside out. //shivers

More on language (or more precisely, creatures). Svanni language is taken almost directly from the conlang I'm creating for a world called Vra'rien because I'm lazy and I don't want to make two conlangs. Some of the creatures are also taken from there, as well as the flora. Other things, like the two moons of Siva are not from Vra'rien (they have three moons, but only two circle the earth while the smallest stays in stationary, satellite orbit just for note).
Breeze drops the names of a few creatures and only really explains two:
Eqpal (following along from last time, you'll know this translates to "Red tree") look like maples for the most part, complete with the red fall leaves. But the Eqpal comes with a nasty surprise: electricity. Accumulated by movement in the roots and high concentrations of iron, these trees actually conduct some levels of electricity in their bark. Probably not enough to kill a human for most trees, but more than enough to electrocute birds or small mammals such as the svans. The dead things both provide nutrients for the tree and attract larger predators so it can spread pollen to other trees.
Breeze says that rabbits aren't prey. The creature that looks like a fuzzy rabbit doesn't actively attack anything larger than it, but does have a venomous bite if anything comes too close. It also has a few bones extra bones in its neck that can be forced outwards to stretch the skin around its neck so it appears larger and cannot be strangled.
Think of a horse. Add two horns above the eyes, wings to the back, raptor-like front claws and the hind of a tiger and that's the approximate image of a glanli. They're carnivorous, pack hunters and stalkers. While they have wings, they can't fly, but use the wings to glide at the top of their jump, letting them silently cover great distances in a single bound. Wounds caused by their horns often cause fester and rot in flesh due to the corrosive, almost acidic nature of them. They have fangs for eating meat and their foul, rotting breath is the easiest way to find them if the wind is blowing the right way. They are one of the creatures that can manipulate emotions, and anything in their presence begins to feel uneasy, then dread, finally paralyzed with fear unless proper mental defense is used. They startle easy, and once sighted will rarely stay to fight it out unless the enemy is surrounded or weakened/paralyzed.
Varnaith are spirits of another realm. They are usually benign spirits, and are not ghosts of dead people, but their own separate entities. They also can pull pranks, to some extent, and some of them will end up following a person they take interest in. They are often used in murder cases because they can see --and show-- the last moments of a corpse by touching it. They can eat food from this plane only when offered, and gifts of food are often used to hire their services. They, too, can influence emotions when they touch you, though while their range of emotion is much greater than a glanli's, it is far less overwhelming. Varnaith are invisible and intangible, though they do cast a shadow. Some with gifts of second sights can glimpse the form of a varnaith, and only a few can see their true form. They are tall, human-shaped figured robed in what look like dark ribbons or strips of cloth but are most akin to the structure of a long feather. They don't have feet or even faces, but they do have hands that look scarily identical to a human's. Some people claim to see a varnaith's hands taking the souls of the dead, and they earned the name "Death Hands" though they have nothing to do with reaping human spirits and are more likely just curious to watch their last moments for themselves.

☾ Cʀᴇsᴄᴇɴᴛ ☽ mintedstar/fur🦇 Owlmoon Tawnyfire ~Sapphire~ ᴛᴜᴇsᴅᴀʏ ✲ριкαƒυєу✲ » ѕнαdσω ⚔️ The last update for this was 2017 feels like yesterday it's been 18 months that's like a lot of days but here we are home for the holidays with only a laptop I'm like lets do some writing and I tried to do like 5 shorts (including a cute one of a first quest trope) but nothing got anywhere so I went back to the unfinished chapters and this one called to me Its hard to write for this world anymore because I KNOW it so well like I already feel where it should be and how it should go up to the very last fights and well it's hard to write cuz it all feels already done and complete (in my head) even though it's hardly even started in the prose. gotta get it out sometime might as well keep going with it right?? anyways more worldbuilding a bit of flowery descriptions and a revelation. Probably part II of III in this chapter (we still gotta wrap things up here) and poor otter is gonna be in for a bad time once we make our way out of Siva and back to the real world. at least I don't think that's been written yet???? everything's so fuzzy (EDIT the reason it felt so fresh and real to have wrote the whole otter thing is because I had wrote bits and pieces of it on my doc since it's the next big scene mystery solved) anyways I guess enjoy??? maybe I'll start working on this again who knows??? kinda busy lately luckily not having a computer means I don't have to work yay

☾ Cʀᴇsᴄᴇɴᴛ ☽ mintedstar/fur🦇 Owlmoon Tawnyfire ~Sapphire~ ᴛᴜᴇsᴅᴀʏ ✲ριкαƒυєу✲ » ѕнαdσω ⚔️2020 is here with a bit more of Rose. Honestly this fic is so easy to write, I can leave for years and still remember the scenes and the world vividly enough to just throw it out there without really any prep (which is more than I can say about leaving a project a few days recently) it probably should have been split into two parts, but I'm already going to have to break my rule of two tempest per outside pov if I keep to my outline with this scene added in. It was a line that I was floating around for a bit with nowhere to put it but it seemed apt to do so right after the meeting. It also enforces that it isn't just the Rose and the Night Stalkers who use their soul stones, but that they are very important to the identity of every MapleClan cat and to the Clan as a whole. I also took the opportunity to give some of our background characters some personalities, really focusing on the other apprentices but also backstory for Batfrost and some history from Mallowsun. Hopefully we'll get to see more of them soon! I relate to Juniperspark the most, she'll probably have some good screentime soon. Who else do yall want to see more history for? They all have a little something, some more than others, but they all have at least a few friends, tensions, beliefs and a bit of history for each that I'll try and show down the road. Anyone have a fav minor character yet? who n why? anyways I wouldn't expect updates from me ever but maybe with one chapter a year I can finish this before I die (:

Yay, it's back! Took me a few days to reread everything but I'm so glad I did. Batfrost's backstory is fascinating and I'm very intrigued by the theft... Also those arts are incredibly pretty even if they're the wrong colours c'x

Tis! at least for a bit I have a few things planned.
and she needed some!! I imagine the Svans are like tolkien elves to the others and I had to give some reason Bat's never around. She's just that 150 year old elf in the woods pretending to be normal while watching over the little humans she decided to protect.
That is the plot (;
and thankies! I did save a layered sketch so I probably should edit them right eventually lmao
its been a while though !! glad people are still around here even if it is a bit slow. I don't know what I would do if one day this place just disappeared.
Also finally got the update up on ffnet and its actually interesting that you can see how many clicks and how far people get. Apparently I get a huge drop after chapter 3 (over half stop there, almost 3/4) it might be the change in pov??? if it is that's a big yikes. might be a bit awkward but I love every third getting to show a different pov without having to plot device Tempest into having to be present at every event

so I'm writing a short story for this as a little intermediate and I decided in the first few paragraphs that it sounded great in present tense
those few paragraphs are epic. 600 words in and I'm here screaming at verbs for being evil
