Madden Santos --
Madden read the text and pursed his lips for a moment. The antiques shop. Madden remembered that old store from when he was still dating Lyra. God that place had memories. Madden was honestly surprised that it was still open. It feels as if that store has been around for ages. He plopped his bag down on the hotel bed and went to the small attached bathroom, splashing water on his face, trying to magically whisk away the look of jetlag on his face. After a few moments, he realized that that wasn’t going to happen. There are only two real cures for jetlag: seven Five Hour Energies downed all one after the other, and a good nap. Obviously one was more desirable than the other, but sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do.
He exited the hotel, relenting himself to just look like a zombie. Maybe he could get that nap in later on this evening. He sat in the rental car and turned the key. He almost didn’t even need to think about where he was going. The route was practically hardwired in his brain. He drove on mental auto pilot to the store, and parked in the parking lot. Most of the patrons at the antiques shop were either very old people, or the resident town “hipsters” who liked the vintage stuff. Madden definitely preferred the old people over the hipsters. He got out of the car, not bothering to lock the doors because this was a small town, no one would steal, unlike the big city where you have to put padlocks on a damn skateboard to make sure no one steals it. He took a deep breath and pushed through the door of the shop, not knowing what was going to be waiting for him on the other side.

Natalia Torres --
Natalia wanted to let out a frustrated scream. Her big day was in three days, and she was still running around everywhere like a chicken with its head cut off. Wasn’t this supposed to be fun for her? Wasn’t she supposed to be having a good time? Maybe she was when she first started planning, but as the day approached, and the flowers were wrong and her dress didn’t fit, Natalia just wanted to sit down and cry. But she knew that she couldn’t do that, because she had work to do, damnit, and if she didn’t do it no one else would.
She read the text from her fiancé, and smiled for a moment, but just for a moment. Oh God, she thought. Madden was going to see Lyra and that could not be good. She knew how hot-headed and argumentative the both could be in certain situations, and she knew that this wasn’t going to go well. She narrowed her eyes and prayed that she was wrong. The two will need to get along somehow, because they will not be ruining her wedding with their petty arguments. And this was probably Natalia’s biggest flaw: worrying about things that haven’t even happened yet.

Calista Pavlis —
Calista pursed her lips at the other girl’s question and sighed quietly. She immediately straightened up and looked to see if her parents noticed her sudden lack of manners, but they seemed to be more focused on heartily discussing with the other royal family, “Well, I would not know, honestly.” She grimaced at the confession, once again peeking around to ensure that her parents didn’t see, “I have never been outside of these kingdom walls.”
‘For your own protection’, her parents had told her. ‘When your older we will take you to Athens.’ But Calista wanted to go now. She didn’t need protecting from the cities, and even if she did she certainly had plenty of protection from all the guards around her all the time! She was probably the most secure person in the world, but her parents were so protective of her that they rarely ever let her outside without bringing an parasol for the sun, or wearing a bonnet. And even then she wasn’t allowed to stay out for long. It was as if she spent her whole life living in utter boringness just because her parents were a little bit afraid! She wanted to run, and to laugh, and to play. But instead she has to sit, drawing, or doing needlework, “What about you?” she asked, wanting to change the subject from her woes, and maybe hear something interesting, “What is it like where you are from?”

Casimir Desjardines —
Cas was supposed to be inside the dining hall with Prince Reuben, but Casimir was sure that Reuben was perfectly capable of protecting himself incase anything went wrong, so he took the liberty of slipping from the hall and wandering around the castle corridors, just for fun. Casimir loved the huge cathedral ceilings, and the beautiful, rich tapestries that lined the walls. In his explorations, he had even found some secret passageways in the walls, not that he would ever tell anyone about them.
In his own head, Casimir didn’t even notice bumping into the servant who was also out in the corridor, “Excusé moi, monsieur.” Cas said with a dashing smile, “Are you lost?”

Well, Ellie was no longer in the mood to finish her smoothie. In fact, she felt like she was about to throw it up. Right there on the cafe floor. Oliver's words hit hard. She wanted to leave. She wanted to be bitter. She wanted to plead or beg, but she couldn't. She felt frozen to the spot. She felt embarrassed. She really didn't even know how she felt. It was just a gross mix of feelings, and none of them were really positive. Even though she had been expecting rejection, she hadn't expected it to hurt this bad. She never really mattered to Oliver. She was just another girl for him to kiss and ditch. Just another girl. He had been special to her, but he probably had forgotten about her the second he stepped on his plane home. She couldn't help it. She'd let herself get too attached to a boy, and when he mentioned that he had other girls around here, she felt tears sting her eyes. Ellie wiped the back of her hand across her eyes, refusing to let Oliver see that a tear had escaped. At least, half of her wanted him to believe she didn't care (even though it was a little late for that) and the other half wanted him to see the pain and the tears.
"I did hear, Oliver. I heard everything. I heard that you don't get involved in relationships. I heard that you don't just stick with one girl, but I was willing to take that risk," her voice cracked a bit, but Ellie cleared her throat and continued on. "You were special to me. Even if you say that the boy in Hawaii wasn't the real you, I know you're a good person. You may not think so, but I can see it," she said. She had heard. Even from that girl in math. They said not to get involved with Oliver. They said it would only end in heartbreak. And it had, for reasons neither of them could help. But now they had control. There was nothing to stop them from getting together, except for Oliver. She hadn't expected his rejection to hurt this badly, but it did. And that was Ellie's problem. She got too attached to people too fast, and then they left her. She shook her head, looking down at the table before she spoke again, avoiding Oliver's eyes.
"Hawaii was one of the best times of my life. I had my family. I had the nicest guy I've ever met. For once, I had no worries or problems. I woke up every day knowing there was something new in store. I got to experience things. I got to experience the world. You don't learn much cooped up in Belleville your whole life. It made my life feel perfect. And I was happy. Just... Happy... Then things turned around. First, you and I were pulled apart. Then I was pulled from my home. I lost my friends, my horse, my everything. I was fighting with my parents. I had nothing in my life anymore that I had had just a few days before," she took a deep breath. Now that everything was just kinda out in the open, she couldn't stop. "And then I saw you and I thought, just maybe, things would change. They'd get better. But they didn't..." She sighed, continuing to look down at the table. Her brown eyes slowly raised from the wooden table to his face. "I'm sorry I wasn't what you wanted. I'm sorry that I wasn't just another girl that you could use and throw away the moment you saw another one. I'm sorry that I cared too much," Ellie took a deep, shaky breath when she finished her rant and she kept her hands clasped on her lap, able to feel them shaking. Yes, her words were harsh, but she was hurt. She looked down and shook her head. "I'm sorry," she said softly, unsure if it was a continuation of what she had been saying or if it was a genuine apology. She didn't even know what she meant, so she doubted Oliver did.
"Would you just answer one question? Please, just be honest with me here," she asked, setting it up. She knew what she wanted to ask, but she didn't know how to get the words out. Was it just that she was afraid of his answer? Afraid of getting hurt even more? She closed her eyes, took a deep breath, and locked eyes with him. "Did you ever really care about me?" She asked. During the trip. Did she matter? Or was she just another one of his girls? One that he used because he was away from all the girls around here? She also wondered if he really did mean it about being her friend. It seemed unlikely, since their worlds were so different. What motivation would a guy like Oliver have to accept a girl like Ellie as his friend? Again, she felt a tear sliding down her cheek, but didn't have a chance to wipe it right away. Instead, it slid all the way down to her cheek and fell to the ground. That was it. She refused to be a crybaby. She wiped her eyes again, waiting for Oliver's response, not only to her question, but to everything. Her story, her bitter apology. She was torn. She wanted Oliver in her life. She still had feelings for him. Major feelings. But he had also hurt her and she was afraid she wouldn't find another guy that was willing to give her a chance. It had taken her 17 years to find Oliver (at least she had been 17 in Hawaii). How did she know it wouldn't take another 17 years to find a guy that liked her? Ellie just felt scared, hurt, lost, and confused.
"I really did care about you, Oliver," she whispered. Well, it was obvious now as she wiped away another tear, fighting to stop crying, but she felt she needed to say it one last time. To make sure he knew that, whatever their relationship was after tonight.
(I love this plot and these two... I've got so much inspiration! Sorry if this post got confusing at all, I'm really tired at work but wanted to reply because may not be on much tomorrow)

Oliver Douglas —
Oliver hated to see her cry. Oliver hated to know that he was the one who made her cry. Sure, he didn’t like seeing it, but this was only another reason why he just couldn’t date her. In all honesty, maybe he did want to date her. Hell, Oliver doesn’t know what it feels like to be in love, maybe this was it? No, no he couldn’t. Not now. Not after breaking her heart like this. Surprisingly, he didn’t feel much about it. Maybe it was the absurd amount of caffeine in his body talking, but he didn’t even feel sad. But, he did feel angry though. Angry that she would suggest that he never cared about her. Of course he cared about her! She was the closest thing to a real relationship that Oliver has ever had. Not that she needed to know that. He could understand, though, why she would think that. After all the terrible things that she probably heard about him at school, and after all the things he said to her tonight. He couldn’t blame her for feeling that way.
His voice dropped and lost the bitter note it had held previously, “Of course I care about you, Ellie.” He hoped she noticed his use of present tense. And it was the truth. Oliver knew that he couldn’t date her, but in all honesty he didn’t want anyone else to have her either. He doesn’t want to date her because he cares about her.
A part of him knew that Ellie didn’t mean the harsh words she had said to him. They were true, but they couldn’t help stinging a little bit. Oliver was never much of a self-aware person, and hearing those words so blatantly calling him out on his actions hurt him, though he didn’t show it, “And that’s why we can’t date, Ellie.” The words started coming and he knew that he wasn’t going to be able to stop them, “If we date, I can’t be faithful to you. Not because I don’t want to, but because that’s not the kind of person I am.” The bitter tinge to his voice had resurfaced somewhere in the middle of that statement. “I would rather hurt you up front, sitting across the table from me than hurt you behind your back.” He wanted to throw something. Admitting his infidelity out loud made him feel awful about it. He sat back for a moment, pondering his words. That was probably the realest that he’s ever been with somebody.
“I’m sorry that you lost everything, Ellie,” he continued. And he genuinely was. He couldn’t imagine what he would say if one day his parents wanted to up and move across the country. He probably wouldn’t go. He’d just stay over at Jax’s house for the rest of the year until he went off to college. But he knew that Ellie didn’t have those options in her life. He could tell from the look on her face that if she had the chance to go back to her hometown, she would go in a heartbeat, “But you’re not going to find solace in me as a boyfriend.” Ouch, that even hurt him. “But I will always be around as a friend.”
He couldn’t force himself to look her in the eyes. He stared down at the now crumbs left on his plate (he was a nervous eater) and pushed them around with his fork. He wondered about how she was going to answer If she was going to cry even harder, or if she was going to slap him. Both were viable options, honestly, and he was preparing himself for either outcome. He knew that he didn’t have to words to make her understand. He knew that she was just going to have to deal with it for a little while. And maybe down the road he’ll be able to confidently say that he could be faithful to her. That he could cherish her the way she deserved to be cherished, but today was not that day. For a brief, selfish, moment, Oliver wanted to date her. He wanted to be able to walk down the hallways with his arm wrapped around her waist, having the whole entire school know that she was his girlfriend. He wanted to look smugly at all the girls who he had spent nights with. He wanted to say "look, she was good enough to be my girlfriend, and you weren't." He wanted that for himself, but he knew it was selfish of him. There would be a grace period of maybe a month. Maybe two. And then he would meet someone new, maybe someone older. And he just wouldn't be able to help himself. Because he loves the thrill. He loves chasing the girls, he loves flirting with the girls. And he couldn't do that with a girlfriend. Another image popped into his mind, a continuation of his daydream, of Ellie finding out about his other girls and the hurt that would cause her. That ruined it for him.

The day had gone rather smoothly, as per usual when she was running the shop. They never really did get too many people coming in and out. It was mainly the new generation of vintage loving people that came in to buy things to be hip or what ever they said. Mae was now behind the counter playing with her coloring book. It was clear the little girl was trying her best to stay in the lines. But sometimes she got out, a lot. Lyra began to clean of the register, they had a fair amount of people come in during the rush hour. Which normally meant than one person at a time, but today it had meant five people this time. They had bought quite a few things too. Lyra turned around to rearrange the self behind her since some of the items where now missing and the self looked off with empty gaps here and there.
She was standing on the tips of her toes as she reached to place something on the top self. Of course Lyra was already standing on the step ladder they had. Being short was an issue sometimes. The bell of the door sounded but Lyra was still trying to get the little porcelain cat on the shelf and in the right place. After all if she dropped it not only would it break but it could cut Mae who was behind the counter. "Welcome! Feel free to look around I'll be with you in a moment." Lyra said, not turning around, to she was too focused. That was easy to tell, at least if someone saw her face because she was biting her lip. Finally she got the cat on the shelf and she turned around.
Her heart stopped. For what felt like years she just looked at him. He had grown up, his style of dress was different, he looked like a man. Lyra was taken by surprise, not only because he was here but because he had changed looks wise at least. "Madden, hi." She said, her voice was normal but to her she was struggling to even say that much. It had been easily when she thought it was just a random person coming in. And of course he came in when she looked like a mess after helping a bunch of people. Her hair was tied half up but loose curls had fallen out and she looked a bit flustered from having to balance on the stepping stool and put the cat almost her entire arm length above her head. She hadn't put on a lot of make up today either since she was going to have to put a full face of it on for the dinner. Of course there was no warning from Nat, but she couldn't blame her for that. She knew her friend was busy. She felt shocked to see him, yet he was still familiar. Well she did recognize him right off the bat so of course he had to be somewhat familiar at least.

Part of Ellie wanted to cry. Part of her wanted to slap him. Part of her wanted to just say nothing and leave, never speaking to him again. But another part of her, the sane part, was relieved. If people were right, maybe getting involved with Oliver would just end up hurting her even more in the end, not that that made it hurt any less. But, surprisingly, she didn't have to wipe any more tears. She didn't feel like she was going to puke. Maybe it was the way he used present tense to say he cared about her. Maybe it was his admittance that he wouldn't make a good boyfriend. Maybe it was his genuine (at least, Ellie thought it was genuine) offer to be her friend, but something gave her the strength not to change into a sniveling crybaby. Instead, she looked at Oliver, straight into his eyes.
"You're right. I just... You're just... It just..." She couldn't figure out what she was trying to say or how she was supposed to say it. "I just don't even know what's going on anymore. My world's been turned upside down. Maybe now just isn't a good time for me to even have a boyfriend, any boyfriend," she said. It was harder to get this out than expected, but Ellie continued on. "Tonight hurt," she said, sighing. "I don't know if it's just your rejection, or knowing that you're right and I'm wrong, or just a mix of everything, but it hurt," she wasn't trying to make him feel bad or anything. She just figured she might as well say it since it was written all over her face. "But that doesn't mean I don't want you in my life. I would love to have you as a friend," she said. This may have been the hardest thing to say this night. Even though it had been (and still was) an emotional rollercoaster, it was hard to go from being whatever they were in Hawaii to just friends. To having him so close, but so far at the same time.
Ellie didn't know how to feel about tonight's accomplishments. It hadn't been like the movies, where she went running into his arms and they lived happily ever after, but she had at least gotten a friend out of it. And maybe, hopefully, sometime in the future, things would change. Maybe Oliver would change, allowing them to be together. Because she knew it would hurt more to catch him with another girl than having him tell her that they couldn't have a relationship. She didn't say anything else. She just had to let everything sink in. It still felt unreal. The difference between first period this morning and now was astounding. She had been happy earlier, full of hope for something good to come back to her. And here she was, eyes puffy and red, sitting in a cafe while the boy she wanted to get back together with admitted that he couldn't be her boyfriend.
Ellie had never cried about a boy before not even when she had had to leave Hawaii. So why was she crying earlier? At least now there were no tears falling from her eyes. She just looked back down at the table, fiddling with a napkin. She was unsure of what to say or do now and was even more worried about see Oliver the next day at school. Would she still be the same after letting everything sink in all night? Or would things change? Would she be bitter? Or angry? Well, Ellie sure hoped she wouldn't. She didn't want anymore drama right now. There had been enough in her life in the last few weeks to last her a lifetime. Her phone vibrated, showing a text from Jordy, but Ellie ignored it, slipping the phone back into her pocket. She didn't need to be bothered by her brother right now.
Ellie still wasn't sure how she was supposed to feel, but she pushed it down and finally thought of something to say. "So, do you wanna get together sometime to catch up? Ya know, under better circumstances?" She asked. Today sure had been something. A new school. New people. Still learning her way around the city. Oliver and all of that drama. And it felt good to actually have a friend in this crazy place, even if part of her was conflicted, knowing she still had (and would have) feelings for him. She knew her feelings wouldn't go away that easily, but she knew she could hang onto hope for something, anything, to change that would allow her to actually date Oliver. But right now, she got to have him as a friend and that was much better than nothing. Despite her conflicted feelings, Ellie forced a smile onto her face, not wanting to create any negative feelings between the two. She really did care about Oliver and wanted him to be happy, even if that meant not dating him. Although, even as she smiled, she still couldn't meet his eyes and just continued to fiddle with her napkin.

(Screw historical accurcy.)
"England is very beautiful." Nyeli thought for a moment. "At least what I've seen of it. I'm not excactly allowed out much.." Nyeli laughed, making sure to keep it soft so nobody would look over. It would be a shame if her parents saw her talking to someone other than her fiance, no matter the relation of said man. She glanced at him, but he didn't seem to mind. Meanwhile, Sebastian was downstairs where it was customary for servants to eat, or at least it was where he was from. He would offer to help, but he knew if someone extened the same offer in his house, he would be offened. They seemed to be doing fine, and he was sure somebody would ask for help if they needed it. He automatically straightned his posture as a couple of maids walked by, giggling amonsgt themselves.

Connor Rhodes ––
When Connor entered the shop he was feeling nervous. It had been four years since he had last seen Lyra, his high school sweetheart, and the girl that he possibly never stopped loving, aside from the fact that she pushed him away. He always assumed she had become distant because Connor chose to attend college quite far away from their small town. He had always assumed it was his fault without actually talking to her about it. When the bell tinkled to indicate his entrance, Lyra called a greeting to him. Her back was turned, so she didn’t realize who was actually standing there. Connor took a deep breath, but didn’t say anything. Partly because he wanted to surprise her, and partly because.. well, what would he say? Does he start out with a simple ‘hi’? Or does he go for something greater? What if she doesn’t want to see him. Oh god, if his feet would move he would be out the door right now, but it felt to Connor as if his feet were glued to the floor.
The girl turned around and he watched her face closely, watching it transform from a neutral look to a look of recognition. She still looked the same as they had as kids, though definitely a bit older. Not in a bad way, and not that he would ever say that to her face. She still had that youthful glow about her, something of an innocence that he always seemed to find in people who stayed in small towns. He didn’t want to sound like an ass, but the discipline of going to college had helped him mature a lot over the years. He wondered if Lyra would act the same as she did in high school, or if she had matured too. When she greeted him he smiled a bit, trying to look as disarming as possible. He didn’t want to make Lyra feel uncomfortable about him being here, honestly. He just wanted to say hi. To get to see her again. I mean, they were all adults here, right? They could put the awkwardness of the past behind them and maybe get to know each other again.
“Hey, Lyra,” he said, his voice trying to seem calm, as if he wasn’t nervous about being here. He wanted to move into the room; he wanted to go give her a proper hug, but he wasn’t sure if that was wanted. They were practically strangers now. “It’s nice to see you,” he offered, moving out of the doorway and a few steps closer to her, “It’s been a while; how have you been?”

Oliver Douglas ––
Oliver almost wanted to roll his eyes when she suggested that now wasn’t a good time for her to have a boyfriend. He didn’t of course; but it was such a defense mechanism that he had seen so many other times. She was going to convince herself that it wasn’t a good time for a boyfriend to make herself feel as if she hadn’t just been rejected by him, or at least soften the blow. Nevertheless, Oliver felt bad for her. He never in his life expected that he was going to have to hurt Ellie. He always figured that they were just going to part ways at the end of summer and that would be that. But since that obviously wasn’t the case, Oliver was glad that they had a chance to talk through their feelings and come to some sort of an agreement. Sure, Oliver was on the winning side of the argument, like he so typically was, but he didn’t really feel like a winner in this case. Maybe it was just a lose-lose situation for everyone. And although Oliver didn’t feel that great about this conversation, at least he felt at ease now. There were no more secrets. She had finally seen his true colors, not the boy she met in Hawaii, but the popular jock who was literally nothing more than the popular jock.
“I’m glad that we can be friends, Ellie,” Oliver said. His voice had dropped so that it had taken a softer tone, a soft smile playing on his lips. Yes, he had gotten what he wanted. A friend in her. Enough so that he could hang out with her whenever, but far enough away that he did feel an obligation towards her. Harsh, yes, but that’s just who he was. He finished the last of his latte and smiled at her when she suggested catching up soon.
“Yeah, dude, we should definitely hang out!” His voice was excited now, glad to have something else to talk about besides the awkwardness of their situation. He wanted things to get back to normal as quickly as possible. Oliver really wasn’t the kind of person who liked being in situations where he felt uncomfortable, not that very many people probably did. “I know all the best places to go,” his voice was soft still, but tinged with both excitement and confidence, “We could go to the beach, or we could go out to dinner, or we could go to the park, or we could go to the aquarium,” he realized that he was rambling and stopped short, leaning back in his seat. He sort of cleared his voice, “Or ya’know, whatever.” He finished weakly.
One thing that was true was that Oliver had never been much of a date person. And although he knew that whatever he was going to do with Ellie wasn’t a date, he did know that it wasn’t going to be as simple as just sitting in his house. Oliver, though usually busy, didn’t really do much in the way of stuff. His guy friends usually just wanted to play sports, which Oliver was completely content with, or his girl friends usually, well, ya’know. Or with his actually girl friends who were no more than just friends, they usually played sports too. One time last year he actually went to an art museum with a female friend. He was inexplicably bored with the whole thing, but she absolutely loved it. Needless to say, he never went back.

Though she wanted to be more than friends, Ellie pushed that aside. For now, a friend was probably the best thing she could ask for. And maybe she was being too obsessive anyway. After all, there was a whole city of new guys to meet. She should have figure that just because they were together in Hawaii didn't mean Oliver would want her back. And thinking this made her even more sure about it. "Sorry about that. I'm not usually a crybaby," she said, not sure if it was more for his benefit or hers. She took another sip of her smoothie, even though it had melted to an almost completely liquid state by now, and looked at him. She liked seeing him smile, and this discussion was definitely better than the uncomfortable one just a few minutes before. She was still a bit conflicted and confused about the situation, but she pushed it aside for now. That could be something for her to figure out later, when she was alone. Or maybe talk about with Sarah sometime over FaceTime. Actually, Ellie wasn't sure she'd want to share this with her best friend, and it was weird thinking about that. She had shared everything with her, even everything about Oliver and her vacation when they got back. And since she hadn't told Sarah yet that Oliver lived here, maybe it was best that she he didn't and just kept this to herself. It was weird for Ellie to think about, but it made sense. Sarah wouldn't be able to help anyway.
"I mean it's a little late now to do anything, but are you free tomorrow? My parents will kill me if I'm out too late tonight. They decided to move here, but they're still worried about me getting lost in the city," Ellie said, rolling her eyes a bit and smiling. It was a real smile this time. She still didn't know her way around the city very well. She had even gotten lost once or twice while looking for this place. Oliver would surely know his way around and maybe he could show Ellie the coolest places to be. She wasn't exactly sure what she'd want to do or where she'd want to go. There were so many options here. Back home, she'd normal hang out at someone's house and goof around or go play sports in the field behind the church or spend the day on the river, fishing and swimming. They didn't have many options. Occasionally her and Sarah had made the hour long trip to the nearest mall, but that was rare since it wasted so much gas. Here, everything was closer. Here, there was more to do. And Ellie was definitely excited for that part. She could actually do something fun without worrying about wasting her entire paycheck from the week before on gas. Ok, maybe that was a bit of an exaggeration, but still. It was nice to have stuff around to do instead of doing the same thing day after day after Fay.
And part of her was already thinking about how school would be the next day. Even if Oliver had agreed to be her friend, it didn't mean she'd be able to fit in with his group at school. They were the popular kids, and she was still just a new girl from across the country. She knew how rough high school could be sometimes, and she didn't want to get involved in more drama than she and to. She also didn't want to make any enemies if she didn't do anything wrong. And there wasn't anything wrong with being friends with Oliver, right? She didn't even known if she'd be able to join his group or if they'd just be friends outside of school. Maybe this wasn't stuff to worry about now. Ellie had always worried about stuff and overthinking was a huge problem for her. Now that she had moved and actually had a chance to start over, maybe she should stop worrying. Maybe she should go with the flow and relax instead of trying to make sure everything went the way she wanted it to.
"I'm glad we can be friends too," she said, smiling a bit at his excitement. It was a major change from now serious they'd both been just a few minutes ago, but she liked it. She missed having fun with Oliver, and hated how uncomfortable and awkward their conversation had been. If being friends was what it took to have fun with him again, she was okay with that. In fact, maybe that would be a welcome change while she was getting used to this crazy place and her new life here. "But yeah, we really need to hang out soon. I haven't even doing much since I got here except sit at home and take the twins to the beach sometimes," she said. And it was true. It felt good to get out of the house, even if it had just been going to school and now meeting Oliver to talk about them and their relationship/friendship.
But for now, she was just happy to have a friend.
(So I was thinking, not now but later on, we could have Ellie get a boyfriend to add more drama instead of just them being friends if you thought that was ok)

Lyra watched as he came closer, she was almost in awe that he was actually there. But she had known they would have to talk at some point. Em was his best friend, of course he would be going to the wedding. She snapped herself out of her thoughts and let a soft smile spread across her face for a moment. "I, I have been pretty good. How about yourself? Its been almost five years. How is the big city treating you?" She asked, the words just kind of fell from her lips, she didn't even realize what it was she was saying. She was too busy thinking about the next things she was going to say. All the things that she couldn't say, and all the things she should say. Like she was sorry, and she had a daughter. Daughter. She snapped herself out her thoughts again as she moved to step out from behind the counter. "I uh-"
"Mommy! Who that?" A small voice came from behind the counter. Lyra bent down and moment later returned with the small blue eyed girl.
"This is Connor. He is an old friend of mine." She looked up at him from where she stood, it felt weird to introduce him as just her friend. It didn't feel, normal at all for her. "I've know Connor since we were a little older then you." She said tapping Mae on the nose. This caused a high pitched giggle to come from Mae.
"Hi Mr Connor!" She said happily, her cheeks turning bright red as she giggled and hid in Lyra's neck.
"Connor, this is Mae..." She paused to look at the little girl in her arms who was now peeking out at him, her face still mostly turned away. "My daughter."
