🍉IC🍉 "Why did you try to break it?" Norman questioned, still a bit entranced by the hourglass. He wondered if it would be possible to turn it over and start back the time, he assumed so. Of course he wasn't very physically strong and it looked sort of heavy. Norman also had to wonder though...why on earth Roland would try to break it. The thing looked sort of old, like an antique, and those should be protected, to keep them in good condition.
Eventually he looked away from the hourglass, tapping it gently before he started towards the record player in the attic and knelt down beside it, examining it curiously. This was also cool. Though not quite as interesting as the hourglass. Norman blamed Niko for his fascination with old things, his older brother had passed it on to him, actually many of the traits that Norman had, he had gotten from his brothers or other figure.
For instance: Niko liked antiques, Ty liked to cook and sing, Kai was a clean freak and taught him how to dance. Then of course he got his sensibility from Kiana. She had always taught that you shouldn't get yourself in bad situations. (Norman hadn't really listened to that part). However if you did, you needed to be smart about how to get yourself out of it too, because no one was going to save you, but you. Norman lived by that motto now.

"If you wish to keep your hand, I would suggest not touching me." Oh, how Rin wished for her axe in this moment. This man, this human was like the rest of them. He thought he was in control, that she would listen to him. She wouldn't, and she would have liked showing him that in the best way she knew how- with her axe. Sadly, it sat a distance away, leaning against a tree. Whatever. She would manage without it.
"No human has ever done anything for me. Why would I want to live among your kind?" His kind, not hers. Her kind was the ogres, those who raised her, kept her safe, showed her the terrible ways of the humans. However, she did have a little plan going on in her head. If she went with him, played along, she could do some damage. She might finally be able to stop the war. The ogres may finally win this. Maybe being taken away was a good thing.

"She left it here, the witch, to taunt me." Roland explained. "I don't actually love looking at it." Perhaps breaking it was extreme but Roland was a bit extreme when he was angry. Sometimes the wolf took over a bit when he left himself get angry. There was part of why he had to be careful around people. He couldn't really just be himself when he worried about things getting out of control. He could handle it, most of the time, but still. It was dangerous. He didn't want to hurt anyone.
That witch. It always came back to her. Everything in his life seemed to go back to her. Of course, she played a big part in his life, what with the curse and all. Even before that, she'd been in his life. Of course, he didn't think of that. He refused to think of how they had been before the curse. It was too much, brought up too many dangerous emotions.
Roland pulled his gaze away from the rather hated object and looked over at the record player. Unlike the hour glass, this was in pristine condition. This had been well cared for, obviously in the attic so it was safe, not because he hated the sight of it. Oh no, Roland loved his records.

Rin was very close to waking the ogres just then. No, no she hadn't wanted to meet her father. As far as she knew, her father abandoned her, left her to die in the woods. Why would she ever want to meet a man like that? The king, on the other hand,she did want to see. Killing him would lead to the downfall of the humans. They would be angry, yes, but also demoralized and without a leader. They would be easier to take down. Angry as she was with this man, he was her chance to be a hero among the ogres. She had to do this.
So, Rin gathered up some supplies, including her trusty axe, along with many other weapons, and set off to find the human. Play along, act like she wanted to meet her family. That's all she had to do. Then, when the moment was right, she would strike.

🍉OOC 🍉 I apologize for the shortness, my dog is rushing me outside and I can't put a lot of thought into it right now. I promise they won't ever be this short again though,
🍉IC🍉 "Hmm, why is an hourglass taunting? If you don't like it to go empty you can just flip it over, it'll go the other way," he said absentmindedly as he studied the record player. "This is nice, how old is it? Niko loves stuff like this, passed it on to me, the older they are the cooler they are as well," Norman stated, glancing over at Roland after he had finished looking at the record player.

(Sorry for not being on so much. Yesterday was a bit of a crazy day.)
"It's jusy a reminder of things I don't want to think about." Roland said. He hated thinking of the time he didn't have. The curse couldn't be broken, he was sure. Having a way to break it, an option that was available for only a certain amount of time, it was nothing more than a tease to him. It was to get his hopes up. Roland didn't need to be reminded of any of that.
He seemed more happy to talk about the record player, though, happy to be off the subject of the hour glass. "I'm not sure exactly. It belonged to my grandfather." Roland's family was not big on heirlooms. There was not a large amount of sentimental value on most things. Even this, the record player, was not important to Roland because it belonged to a family member. It was important because of its function, because he found it cool to play music with it. The fact that ut once belonged to his grandfather hardly mattered to him.
~~~~~
Rin moved carefully through the woods, heading toward the meeting spot the human had chosen. This, she reminded herself, could be a trap. He might try to ambush her. Of course, if that happened, Rin was armed now. She was willing to kill. She would be safe. Still, best to proceed with at least some caution.
When she got to the river and didn't see him, though, she definitely was a bit confused. This was where he said to go. Where was he? She was proud of the little plan she made. If he didn't bring her back to the castle, it may not work so well. Rin could try, but the castle was a few days away, and she wasn't too sure if she could get there without getting lost or starting a fight.
🍉OOC 🍉 It's totally fine.
🍉IC🍉 Norman listened along absentmindedly. "I see...We have one of these at the house. Niko bought it years ago, its pretty old," he confessed before getting back up to his feet and stretching slightly, swerving to face his basically kidnapper. "So, should we head back down? There still a lot of places to check out," he reminded, glancing back over at the hourglass for a few seconds. He still found it odd...that entire thing, but honestly he had entered a world of crazy and until he could get out, he was stuck here...so he figured, he should probably just accept that this place was weird and he would never understand it.
He still had plans of escaping tonight, let there be no mistake. However, until then, he had to act as casual as possible and casual Norman wanted to go explore all the other floors left, see what rooms they had here. Had to be as inconspicuous as he possibly could or else they might assume his plan and try to stop him...which meant if he got caught tonight, his freedom privileges would surely be revoked.
Honestly his common sense which often went by ignored, was compelling him to just wait it out, surely a few days here couldn't be so bad...and though it was a tad louder than usual, Norman was abstinent in ignoring it. He wanted out and he planned on getting out as soon as possible. Until then though, he was also curious enough to want to look around and see what this place has to offer.
Roland motioned for Norman to go on down. He had nothing against moving on. The attic wasn't necessarily his favorite place in the house. It held many things he cared about, yes, but those things were objects of his past. Those were part of a life he could no longer have, or at least a life he wouldn't let himself have. He would regret it one day, hiding himself away, Roland knew that. He knew and accepted that this was his life.
Could it really be the same, anyway? After what happened, after knowing the things he did, could Roland have a normal life? He was a werewolf. He knew witches, among other things, existed in this world. Could he simply be normal again if nothing was actually normal for him anymore? Roland doubted it. So really, was there a point in pretending?
"Let's go see the rest of the house, then." Would Norman want to see the second floor? Or would he skip it. The place was a mess after all. Mostly, the floor had vacant rooms, places for Roland to be kept in during a full moon, several spares for ocassions where he broke doors and escaped. There were a few others places to see, there, he supposed. There was also his room, but Roland wasn't particularly fond of anyone going in there. Besides, surely Norman wouldn't have interest in doing that.
"If you'd like, you can stay in one of the rooms on the second floor. They're more spacious than the servants rooms." Roland said. There were a couple intact bedrooms down there, and they would be perfectly safe on nights where the full moon was not present.
"I came because I felt like it." Rin answered. She would come, yes, but that didn't mean she was going to be polite. Honestly, Rin didn't know how to be polite. Ogres didn't teach manners. They were creatures that were rude even to those they cared about. Their words were often harsh and Rin had picked on that. Similarly, insults were brushed off. They were mean so often that it was simply the norm, and nobody got hurt in this way of speaking. So, of course, if Rin was hard of those she cared about, no kindness would be shown to a stranger.
OOC Text
IC He nearly tripped on the ladder as he made is as he made his way down, however he tried to play it cool because he honestly, that would have been pretty humiliating. So-despite loosing his balance, he quickly tried to get it back and just...jumped from the ladder and landed very wobbly on the floor, not at all sticking the landing, and in the end he still managed to fall down.
"Oomph...I'm okay," Norman said quickly as he got himself back onto his feet, dusting off his clothes-or at least smoothing down any wrinkles. "Anyways, so a bigger room? Not sure I need a bigger room...since I'm only going to be here a few days, if that. But you know, it couldn't hurt to at least look, one of them might be better anyways," closer to the ground too in case he couldn't just scale the house on his way down...because clearly that was his current plan.
Norman was an idiot at times. Though he was also very smart in other aspects, for instance he was very good at reading people and even better at making sure people couldn't read him. He wore a very good, guarded mask around strangers and it certainly took a lot for him to take the favored mask down. He was actually quite smart, he just almost never listened to common sense and did stupid things at times that did have to make you wonder.
Roland exited the attic with much more ease than Norman. But, of course, he had lived here his whole life, was comfortable with pretty much everything in the home. It would be silly to think he would have trouble with a ladder he'd climbed dozens of times in his life. Once he got down, he closed up the attic. This was hardly an issue either, as Roland was fairly tall.
With that done, Roland turned back to Norman. "It is only a few days, yes, but you might as well be comfortable while you're here." Hopefully, only a few days. And hopefully, Norman would not have to be locked into his room. Of course, if he did do something stupid and had to be locked up, a larger room would certainly be much more appealing then. Not that Roland wanted to lock him up at all. No, he really didn't, but he would do what he had to. He learned a while ago to live with decisions he didn't exactly love.
Of course, there was always the fact that the second floor rooms were more secure. Even the ones that had furniture had been somewhat prepped to contain the wolf, and thus could lock from the outside and had very heavy, stable doors. Staying on the third floor would not be an issue, though, either, as the staff would most certainly keep an eye on him. That was, if Norman tried to run. Roland really did not want him to try anything.
"If you want to keep your tongue, you'll stop calling me that." Rin said. She was sure that was all anyone would call her at the castle, but that was something she could deal with later. For now, she wanted to be called by her name, the one that she was used to. "It's Rin. Not Catarina. Definitely not lady anything." Rin was, after all, very far from a lady. "I've seen humans plenty." When the ogres raided villages, she would go. It certainly wasn't what he meant, but she didn't care.
Lucy rolled her eyes. "Obviously I don't know what magic is. We don't have any. But we have ideas about it - I'm sure they're nothing like the real deal - and ideas lead to sayings. It's a metaphor," she continued. She felt quite defensive, but she managed to keep it out of her tone. She sounded conversational, maybe even friendly.
But she was a little offended. Mostly at the comparisons that were being made between her technology and Esme's magic. She knew it was useless, but being told that her world was underwhelming stung. Movies hadn't been created to rival magic - there was no magic for them to rival. Comparing them was ridiculous, and that made it all the more hurtful. Besides, she hadn't claimed that film was impressive. It was technology that was over a century old, nobody thought it to be anything but an everyday thing. People without a TV, at least in the western world, were odd and stood out.
So yeah, maybe it upset her a little. Maybe some of it had to do with her situation, maybe not. Either way, she felt that an insult, intended or not, to her world and culture was an insult to her. She did a good job at hiding it, but she was barely holding her frustration in.
