"Don't move too much, or you'll pop your stitches and we'll have to start that whole process over again. And I won't be as gentle the second time around, I can promise you that," Carey warned as he tossed Flint one of his spare t-shirts. "Does any have a preference as far as what we have for dinner? I have chili, some assorted vegetables, a few kinds of soup... the works. I'm a master of post apocalyptic cooking. Oh, and Reina, would you mind throwing all that gauze away? We shouldn't have that close to where we eat."
While he was waiting for the rest of the group to come to a consensus about dinner, he put the skillet over the fire to begin heating up. It was odd listening to Flint's story and pretending that he had been a part of everything. In all honestly, he was excited to meet a group he could potentially travel with permanently and relieved he hadn't met them before. He had been lucky enough to dodge most encounters with violent survivors. Sure, he had been shot at a few times, but that was to be expected.
"Yeah, I used to wonder why things always went so badly for me, then I figured out I was a Pisces." Woo! Vaguely self deprecating astrology jokes were always fun. "I think having another person in the group wouldn't hurt, though. What do you two think?" Carey asked, glancing between Isak and Flint.

"I should be okay for now," he reassured Reina with a gentle smile. Carey's warning caused him to roll his eyes as he caught the t-shirt and pulled it on. Admittedly a little larger than what he usually wore, but comfortable. 10/10, Carey definitely had good taste in post-apocalyptic shirts. He settled back on the floor and inhaled deeply (though not too deeply). "Will not pop my stitches. Message received."
The request for Reina to join the group caught him off-guard. He thought about it as he tilted his head back to Isak, eyebrows raised. This morning, they had been just two. Now, they were three with a possibility of a fourth (and he'd gained a boyfriend in the process). That was fascinating.
"Dette er ditt ansvar," said Isak, eyebrows pulling down. "Du valgte å gjøre dette."
"Jeg vet. I ettertid, det var dumt," Flint pinched the bridge of his nose lightly. "Begge eller ingen?"
"Begge."
"Okay, okay," after a couple of moments of intense staring, Flint returned his gaze to Reina and grinned, "welcome to the squad. You've been adopted. Also," he pointed at Carey, "I am the world's fussiest eater but as long as it doesn't have anything slimy and/or extraordinarily tough in it, then I will eat it."
"Same, just ignore the fussy part," Isak muttered.

floruit @borderline Reina couldn't help but laugh some more. Damn, it actually felt good to laugh and enjoy feeling like that. She looked to them before dipping her head down. "Thank you, you won't regret it." she assured him while she could feel a smile spreading across her cheeks. At least now she had the ability to feel more safe here. She was rather unsettles about the language barrier, but she knew that they were entitled to their own privacy. She looked to Carey before smiling, "I'm not picky, whatever is edible, I'll force myself to eat it." she insisted. Of course this was the apocalypse. This was no time to be a picky beggar... Or was it beggars couldn't be choosers...? Either way, she knew that it meant the same thing. Her blue eyes gleamed more intensely as she was humming sftly while standing up to actually glean up and set the medical supplies away. She figured it would be good to just take orders well and go from there.

"Food preferences noted. I'm just going to make some chicken noodle soup. If the texture of the noodles are off-putting, you still get some meat and vegetables. Oh! I also have some canned bread I've been meaning to try. I'm not sure how good it will be, but I suppose it's worth a shot. At the very least, it'll help with gaining back lost weight," he said, setting aside the bread and pouring in soup into his pan.
So, he was officially part of a group now. And he and Flint we're officially fake boyfriends, at least until hey decided to tell Reina they hadn't actually been part of the same group to begin with. All in all, not a bad day. A weird day, yes, but not bad.
"I assume we're going to spend the night here, but what's out plan for tomorrow? Explore the outskirts of the city and try to find a decent place to make our base camp? Normally I would suggest moving to a smaller town, but if the weather is this bad even part of the time it would be safer for us to stay near cities. That way, we won't risk running out of supplies. And we can reevaluate and change our strategy once the weather improves." Perhaps it wasn't his place to suggest a plan for all of them, but, honestly, he was used to doing this sort of thing. Planning with four people in mind wasn't much more difficult than planning for one, at least when all four people we're getting along.

"Nice," Flint grinned and half-closed his eyes, seeming to be partially dozing already. Sleep was nice - he hadn't slept for a while. He was running on fumes at this point, and as his dose wore off, he became sleepier. At Carey's question, he raised his eyebrows and considered it thoughtfully.
There were a few things they could do. Move out of the city and figure out something - or stay as safe as they could in this weather? He wrinkled his nose thoughtfully, fingers drumming lightly over the side of his stomach that didn't hurt.
"Finding a better base would be a good idea. With any sort of luck, we'll find something with less broken windows and a proper roof," he could hear the soft drip-drip of melting snow somewhere in the gas station, which hinted at the corroded state of the roof they were currently under. He didn't like the idea of staying here too long. "The outskirts away from the forest would be the best idea, and we should ideally find a place that we can barricade that isn't too far from supplies. If we're extra-lucky, we can find mattresses; they aren't the priority. It looks like we might have to sit here until the worst of this storm is over, and then we should move on."
He talked as if he knew what he was talking about - and he did. Obviously, Flint hadn't been around Isak for the entire duration of the apocalypse. They'd met in recent weeks, had become close through similar circumstances. Flint had previously been with his brother and two other people, but...well, it was best that the past stay in the past. He became notably quieter.
"I think we should leave Flint to sleep for now," Isak exhaled slowly, inching closer to the fire and holding his cold hands towards it, "and don't talk to him when he first wakes up," his words seemed to be directed to Reina, but he was lowkey warning Carey, too.

floruit @borderline Reina nodded a little bit as she was thinking about the possible idea of finding a better base. Her eyes narrowed while she pursed her lips a little more. Hm. What was the best option? She knew that this supplies wouldn't last, and the cities were more dangerous in the first place. What Flint and Carey were saying was probably the best option they really could have. "I bet we could find some kind of town near the city..." she mused thoughtfully as she was considering the possible safety of the forest. For all she knew, she had never seen a zombified deer. If anything, that was probably going to become as fresh of a food source as they would get. But did any of them have wilderness training? The most she ever got was girl scouts, and her older brothers had their own scouts. "I guess we'll just have to figure it out more in the morning, which won't be the worst thing in the world. You guys raise good points." she added while she fiddled with her hands for a moment. She didn't know why not talk to Flint as he woke up, but she was sure it was a formality if anything else. "Soup sounds really great at the moment." she chuckled to Carey while she sat up a little straighter.

"Well, I guess he isn't eating dinner. It doesn't really matter, though. I can make more food in the morning," Carey said with a shrug as Flint began to doze off. "I don't know if moving out of the city would be smart, what with the weird things we've seen in rural areas and the fact we may get cut off from necessary supplies in a bad enough storm. But it really doesn't matter much right now. We can talk about our plans more in the morning when we're all awake and full."
He moved the soup off the fire and frowned as he realized he didn't have any utensils with him. "I hope there are some solo cups and plastic spoons somewhere in here, because I don't have anything besides this skillet and one fork. I've been eating like an animal, but we probably shouldn't keep up the trend of eating straight from cans if we don't want to get each other sick."

If Flint woke up sometime in the middle of the night while everyone was sleeping and got himself his food, well. He certainly didn't make too much of a noise. By the time the morning came around, however, it was as if he had slept through the night, head turned to the side and lips parted. There was an oddly vulnerable look to him; he didn't look to be in his mid-twenties, but rather like his late-teens.
His nose twitched slightly as he stirred, and he took a moment to take in his surroundings despite his eyes still being closed. There were presences around him, which meant that Reina, Carey, and Isak were all still around, he suspected. The fire beside him was still warm, but he couldn't smell smoke which meant that it must've gone out. Outside, it was silent. Nothing crunched snow. That was good. Flint's fingers twitched lightly before he rolled onto his side and barely bit back a groan. Oh, that was a bad idea. He took a moment to recover from the sudden burst of pain before he sat up slowly, minding his stitches and not moving too quickly.
Flint's gaze was blank. That was the best way to describe it. Even as he blinked the sleep away from his eyes and tilted his head, his mouth was a straight line and any vulnerability or kindness from the day before was gone.
"Flint."
His gaze snapped over to Isak, who stared at him from where he sat, cross-legged. Isak squinted at him for a good few seconds before tossing a little bottle to him - Flint took it quietly and moved to get a bottle of water, uncapping it and taking a sip before he tossed back whatever was in the bottle. Isak, knowing what that meant, winced visibly. The bottle was dropped to the ground, now empty, and Flint settled back down, palms of his hands resting on his thighs. He remained utterly silent as his medicine worked through his system, tilting his head back and half-closing his eyes.
"Uttak kommer til å skje snart. Tror du at du er klar? Det var den siste av dine antipsykotika," the teenager seemed almost disapproving.
"Nei," Flint said bluntly. "Jeg vil aldri bli klar."
The two then sat in silent while Flint woke up and took a sip of water every now and then, and while Isak focused on gathering some food to make breakfast.

@borderline floruitReina was fast asleep on the floor. She had spent the night wrapped up in the blanket and her jacket, every now and then she would tense and say something in her sleep. Her breathing was shallow and faint all the same before she soon snapped her eyes open. It was already morning? She had to slow her breathing and keep herself calm before she was even thinking about her surroundings. As she pulled off her beanie, her hair was still quite a bit of a mess, and she looked around groggily before she slowly sat up for a moment or two. That was when she saw Isak and Flint. "Buenos dias chicos..." she murmured softly as she ran a hand through her short hair for a moment or two, as if that would be of any help. "Qué hora..." she yawned softly while rubbing the sleep out of her eyes. "Sorry, what time is it?" she asked them as she tilted her head from side to side to try getting her bearings. A part of her wasn't even that hungry after tending to go without food for a good while. After having soup, she certainly felt a lot better than before. "What's the plan anyway?" she asked softly while she was looking around and over her shoulder. She figured it was only a matter of time before Carey woke up.

Carey had been gradually waking up ever since Flint had first stirred, but he didn't see the need to get up so quickly. This was the first good night's sleep he had gotten in ages, and he wasn't going to give it up just so they could go out into the cold a few minutes earlier than they would otherwise. Having other people around him that weren't going to kill him in the next few minutes let him rest easily. The sound of human voices was relaxing, even if he couldn't understand most of what was being said.
Hearing Reina's voice added to the mix urged him to sit up and look around blearily. As he did so, his spine popped loudly a few times. Ouch. Sleeping on floors wasn't doing him any favors. Honestly, he had never been in the best health. He was taking the apocalypse surprisingly well, considering he hadn't been sick for most of it. Maybe his immune system had finally sorted itself out. Not being in hospitals all the time had probably helped. Oh, yeah, that reminded him.
He reached for his backpack and opened one of the front pockets to get two large pill bottles. It had been a while since he had had refilled them, but they were each about a third full and there was definitely a hospital fairly close to here that he hadn't raided yet. Everything would be fine. He downed the pills with some water and finally decided to look at the other survivors. Before now, he had kept his eyes firmly on the floor, still too sleepy to bother with human interaction. "Were you two talking about drugs earlier? I thought I heard something like―" Oh, hell, Reina was awake. He had forgotten. Carey changed subjects abruptly. "I think our plan should be to eat something and then go on the hunt for a better place to stay. After that, we can start bringing supplies there so we won't need to worry so much about starving or freezing." Yeah, that transition had been incredibly awkward. Hopefully everyone would roll with it.

"Just after sunrise," Isak stated, "I'd say around...nine, maybe ten in the morning? The sun rose very late today," he shrugged lightly, "we must be coming up to the middle of December. It's hard to keep track."
Flint sighed softly as he checked on his wound, and, satisfied, he was quick to redress and pull down the shirt he'd borrowed from Carey. His gaze flicked upwards and he raised an eyebrow, a faint smile back onto his face and head tilting to the side. He seemed completely relaxed compared to a few moments ago - though it wasn't as if Reina nor Carey had seen that.
"Yeah, we should find a better shelter. Away from the forest, preferably. Those humanlike things give me the heebiejeebies," he shook his head slightly and stood up slowly, unable to stretch but able to stand, it was the least he could do. "Hope we don't run into anything else. I'll talk to you about it later, Care."
He reached up to scratch the back of his head and sighed softly. That was..a long night's sleep, but he was glad of the rest, really. Even Isak looked a little brighter, which said something about their situation. He rubbed at his face and inhaled deeply (though not too much), glad to be alive for one more day.

floruit @borderline Reina nodded thoughtfully before she gave Carey a slight smile of acknowledgement before she slowly stood up. "makes sense, it's cold enough for it to be December." she laughed slightly before she ruffled her hair out some more. A part of her realized that Christmas was probably going to be around, or it had passed. Either way, she looked over at her companions, realizing that maybe this was going to be her present, which she didn't mind at all. "You mentioned..." Reina was put off my the fact that they mentioned drugs, but were being silent around her. Did they not trust her? Well, they had only known her for a day. But it was just... If they were on stuff, she would give them the benefit of the doubt and assume it was for their health and well being. "Trust goes both ways, guys, I'm not here to judge you...it's the apocalypse...rules basically go out the window." she sighed before she was folding up the blanket and starting to organize a couple items for the sake of carrying them. "We could probably find some kind of suburb area, that would give us a connection into the city, maybe there will still be some houses standing..." she mused. Her mind was racing with possibilities as to what she could at least attempt to make out of old rescources.

Alright, so he and Flint would be able to talk privately later. That was good. Then they would have a chance to sort this all out, and either agree to tell Reina or figure out a way to keep up the ruse. It was strange to be pushed into a relationship so suddenly, but, oddly enough, he didn't really mind. It was nice to have a person he could be close to, even if the basis for their relationship was entirely made up. Maybe he was just a little too starved for human companionship.
Anyway, so much for Reina not picking up on him hastily changing the topic. He should atone for his mistake by drawing attention off Flint. "As far as drugs go, I take things for my heart. I've had pretty major problems with it for most of my life. I have a few nasty surgery scars on my chest—they're pretty impressive. Flint can attest. And since I'm utterly screwed if it starts messes, I'm on some medications to lessen the amount of work it needs to do. I don't advise getting into my drugs, unless you want to increase your risk of bleeding out or mess with your blood pressure." Was that enough cool facts about his terrible heart to pull focus to him? Hopefully.
"Anyway, I think a suburb could be nice. We could be a nice nuclear family. The white picket fence, maybe a pet or two, some guns, and lots of barricades around the house. Just like home," Carey said wistfully. By this time, his backpack was almost completely packed. He didn't like to have his hands stay still while he was talking. "So, how soon will we be ready to go?"

"They're not recreational," Flint's tone was firm but gentle, "I can promise you that, but what they're for is extremely personal. I'll probably tell you at a later date."
His gaze flicked to Carey and he listened, nodding when his name was mentioned, before he grimaced and shook his head, hands held up lightly before he moved to pack up his messenger bag. Isak had come back with some food, and shoved it into the bag Flint was supposed to carry. That would make it heavy. How bothersome.
"No pets," he grumbled softly, glancing back to Carey and letting his brows pull down. This next part would take some effort to make sound...aha! "You know I can't stand cats or dogs, and those are like, the only pets people ever want," he rolled his eyes upwards, "let's just stick with the guns. They can be our pets. Oh," he smiled faintly, "and I'm ready now. So's Isak, I think."
"Mhm," Isak confirmed.

Reina nodded, "Okay, thank you." she said to him while she looked at the the both of them. "I don't need you guys to tell me your life stories, but I'm glad you told me." she smiled gently while standing up.
She took some of the canned items before making sure to get a can opener. She couldn't help but laugh softly at the idea of having them be a silly nuclear family...in an apocalypse. She definitely wouldn't mind the idea of actually building stuff for once. Her eyes became a little brighter before she walked over to pat Isak on the back. "Guess that makes you the baby of the group." she teased him gently before she soon walked towards the door.
"Damn, well, if we ever find pets, I don't mind dogs or cats." she admitted while she was humming softly to herself. If anything, she was feeling pretty thrilled that now they could all have a bit of a fresh start. A part of her wanted to tease about Carey and Flint being the parents, but she figured she could tease about that at a different time.

"Of course no dogs or cats! I was thinking more like rodents. They're resilient, and you don't need a huge amount of space to given them enough room to be happy and healthy," Carey said, pulling on his backpack and walking toward the door. Hopefully it wouldn't be as cold today. That was a big "hopefully"—mostly, the weather had been getting steadily worse. But when he managed to get the door open, he found that the weather outside was quite beautiful.
"Looks like we're going to have a white Christmas, kiddos," he murmured. There was snow around them as far as the eye could see, a shining, pristine blanket of white. "If we weren't at risk of frostbite, I'd suggest we stop and have a snowball fight." He laughed softly.
"Maybe once we get that little house in the suburbs. Does that work with all of you?" he asked, walking forwards down a road he hoped would lead to the suburbs. Hmm. Perhaps he should stand back and let Flint and Isak lead. If they knew any more than he did, that was. He turned back to ask. "Did you two find any place that sounds like what we need yesterday?"

"I'm severely phobic of both dogs and cats," Flint told Reina, wincing a little as he thought about it. "Well. Phobic is moreso to explain how terrified I am of them. I have good reason to be terrified of both," he laughed nervously. It seemed that regular Flint was back, but Isak didn't seem too comfortable.
He began to walk to the door lightly with his adopted Norwegian manchild behind him, hands in his pockets and bomber jacket zipped up. He ducked his head a little and exhaled slowly, half-closing his eyes and moving to lead.
"Yeah," he hummed, "there was a place. Definitely a whiteass neighbourhood, it reminded me of so many places I'd rather not mention. Pretty little houses with their gardens and sh*t. But yeah. It's probably, uh," he squinted at the snow and looked at the sky, taking a moment to consider everything. "Half an hour to an hour in that direction," he pointed east - far away from the forest, "sound good?"

@borderline floruitReina nodded, "Okay, okay, no dogs or cats." she pouted playfully, trying to let him know that she genuinely understood that he had a fear and she respected it. She figured he got bit by a dog and scratched by some cat. Both were reasonable childhood traumas that she could relate to. Of course, she got over her fear from an early age. Some people remained wary of those kinds of things. She easily followed after the men with a slight smile, easily wrapping her red scarf around her neck and covered the lower part of her face. She was awestruck at the snow, mostly because it had been a while since she had been able to enjoy a white December in peace. It may have been the apocalypse, but everything was much more pristine than the gray slush she would always find in the streets. "That time sounds doable, I'm sure we can make it work." she tried her best to be optimistic about it. Hopefully they could actually make this work and be a relatively close group. Of course, she was the outsider. That was going to be a little hard to adjust to.

"Yeah, an hour max is no big deal. We can handle that! And then we can wreck the neighborhood. We'll be blasting loud music at ungodly hours, not mowing our lawn, and just letting the whole place go to hell. The neighborhood watch will try to evict us, but they've got no real power. Finally they'll realize we're burning all their sternly worded letters and give up on us. Some old women will still stare out their windows trying to get us on some minor violation, but we'll never get caught." Slow down, Carey. You're getting too into this.
Alright. Time to find something else to talk about. "If anyone sees a store they think has supplies we might need, make a note of it so we can come back to check it out. I assume none of us want to spend more time out in the cold than we have to." Honestly, he hated the cold. Humid summers? He could handle that. Thunderstorms? No problem. But the second the temperature dipped more than a few degrees below freezing, all he wanted to do was curl up beside a fire and not move for a few hours. At least now he could use the boyfriend cover as an excuse to flop on top of someone who was warm. That was certainly a plus.
"How large of a house are we looking for, anyway? More rooms means it will be harder to heat and barricade, but we'll get a little more privacy that way. And we'll have more room storage space." Was this was what finding houses was like? He wouldn't know. He was accustomed to living in dorm rooms. No wonder real estate was such a big deal. There were so many factors to consider. At least they wouldn't have to pay for their house. That was one good thing about the apocalypse.

Flint nodded back at Reina and crossed his arms, shivering slightly. He tried his best not to shiver too much despite it being his body's natural reaction due to his stitches, and wondered why he had never thought to pick up a sweater or something. His bomber jacket wasn't made for this temperature. He glanced back at Isak and noted how the Norwegian was clearly ready for weather like this (with his makeshift scarf and warm jacket) and at Reina with her scarf, before looking to Carey and raising his eyebrows.
"Uh, I'd say we get one with four bedrooms so there's a spare room and that should be big enough. Living room becomes the heated room. We could probably get tiny bedroom fires going," did he just insinuate that he and Carey would be staying in the same room? Absolutely. He loved this. "Possibly a place without broken windows. I know, I'm asking for a lot, but it would be really nice to keep the warm where it belongs - inside."
He then proceeded to fall into a large snowdrift with a startled yelp, having not expected to collide with snow and nothingness.

(dammit, even now I'm still fangirling over Carey and Flint XD)
Reina nodded thoughtfully, "Yeah," she pulled her coat tightly around herself, then noted how Flint was still shivering. She knew for a fact she rolled up the blanket... Maybe Carey was going to give him support or something. If he didn't stop shivering, she made a mental note to offer it to him later on. Honestly, she loved the cold since it gave her an excuse to conceal herself in clothes and maybe confuse people about her gender. At this point, it was probably the best entertainment she could get.
"I'll be honest, I lived with brothers growing up, so sharing a house with you guys won't be an issue, but I like your idea, Flint." she said as she slowed her walk to buddy up with Isak. She figured that she could have a conversation with him if he was willing enough. He was being so quiet in the first place. Hopefully he wouldn't mind her social attempts.
She couldn't help but feel a little bothered at how Carey seemed to be taking this so well. If anything, she would have thought he'd take this base thing more seriously. They were in an apocalypse... None of what he said made much sense to her... Maybe that was his attempt at humor? If so, she thought he was getting way too into it.
She glanced to Isak for a moment, "You doing okay?" she asked, then looked over to see that Flint fell into snow, which made her laugh a little before she cringed. He probably busted his stitches.

[ i love them? they are both hot messes but together they make a semi functional duo. ]
Four bedrooms, so they could have a spare. Hug. Carey ducked down into the collar of his coat to hide his smirk. He suspected Flint might be messing with him, but he wasn't going to object to getting his own personal heater every night. No more sleeping in four layers of clothes for him! He perked up as Reina mentioned brothers. Here was an opportunity to get to know one of his new group members a little better. "How many brothers, Reina? I was technically an only child, but I almost always had a few cousins around while I was growing up. We had a big house. And no broken windows is a lot to ask for, sweetheart, but—woah, are you alright?"
He was kneeling beside Flint a few second later, trying to help him up without hurting the gash in his side. "Get up slowly. You don't want to pop any stitches while we're still pretty far from our destination." Now that his hand was on Flints arm to help steady him, he realized the other man was shivering quite badly. "I have an extra hoodie in my bag. You should put it on. If you weren't freezing before you fell face first in the snow, you must be now."
It wasn't difficult to play the concerned boyfriend role here. His worry was sincere. "We can step inside somewhere for a few minutes to warm up if you need to. And you can always borrow my scarf and gloves. I'll be fine without them for a little while," he said, rushing to find an excuse to give Flint so he wouldn't deny the offer for his sake. "Don't worry. I'm in like half a dozen layers right now. Honestly, I should be burning up."

( small buff man & tall weak babyman pretend to date and get way too into it and adopt two kids: the rp )
"Ow," came Flint's slow breath as, according to Carey's orders, he slowly got up. He patted himself down to make sure he was in one piece, before shoving one slender hand against Carey's jaw - a gentle motion, but a complete rejection. "I'm fine without one. I'm not cold," he said, despite his shivering. "I will survive."
He shifted his weight between his feet to assess how much pain he was in, before he began to walk once again. Flint's fingers tapped irritably against the side of his leg, gaze downwards against the pristine snow so as to make sure he didn't fall again. His posture did relax after a few moments, and he turned back to them - any hint of annoyance was gone from his expression.
"Come on. I'm injured and dead inside and I can walk faster than you young 'uns," he huffed.
Isak grimaced a little at Flint's antics and shook his head slowly, before his gaze slowly flicked to Reina. He shrunk a little into his coat, hands shoved into his pockets and gaze focused pointedly forward again, considering her question more as if it were about to bite him rather than if it were a simple...well, question.
"Great," he responded, after a few moments, "the end of the world makes America a little more bearable, I suppose."

(Yesss... Pretty much, they play off each other pretty well)
Reina chuckled before she looked to Carey, I had four older brothers growing up, they were loud, boisterous, and always picking fights." she chuckled sadly at the memories. Damn. If she could turn back time, she would hug them all more often than just keeping her distance. She sighed slightly before she pulled her beanie more securely over her head.
She looked to both Flint and Carey helping each other out before she felt her cheeks heat up at how close they were seeming. How scandalous of them to imply sharing a room. She bit her lip to hold back her grin before she hastily looked away from them while giggling a little more.
"A pessimist I see, or are you more of a realist?" Reina raised a dark eyebrow to Isak before she took note of his body language. Clearly he didn't want to talk...but she knew it was going to be boring not having someone else to talk to. It would be weird to act as a third wheel, and she knew she had to not get into that. "Isak, I'm really not here to judge, please know that you can talk to me." she said to him gently.

[ honestly, they work super well together and are really fun to rp. a quality pairing. ]
Carey filed away the topic of Reina's brothers as something to discuss later, then frowned as Flint pushed him away. Stubborn he could deal with, but he preferred not to if it was well below freezing and someone wouldn't put on a piece of clothing "You're either cold or having mild convulsions. Either way, you should put on the jacket. If you don't, you can deal with frostbite on your own." He briefly considered also threatening to kick Flint out of their bed, but then he would Lise his nighttime source of warmth. Checkmate. He resigned himself to dropping it for the time being.
It wasn't difficult to catch up to Flint (long legs were a blessing), and when he did there was a fair amount of distance between them and the other two, who seemed to be involved in their own conversation. "Would now be a reasonable time to have a private conversation?" he asked, voice lowered to the point he hoped Reina and Isak wouldn't be able to tell if he was speaking, not to mention what he was saying.
If Flint said no he wouldn't be too offended, but now would be a good time to get their story straight. How and when they met was important to know, and if he wanted to be a convincing significant other he needed to get a lot more information about the other man. And even if he did refuse, Carey would still stick around to ensure he didn't fall into another snowbank.

Isak studied Reina for a moment, before snorting through his nose. The action caused a cloud of white to go up in front of him, which was...irritating, but nothing he couldn't handle. He shoved his hands into his pockets and shrugged lightly, slowing his pace upon realising that Carey and Flint were walking somewhat ahead. Out of earshot, too. Damn.
"Realist. America was a terrible place before. It's slightly less terrible now. I had to shoot my significant other in the head and it still hurts, but that's to be expected. Flint saved my life. I keep him in check. I won't be able to keep him in check soon. That, I suppose, bothers me," he raised a single eyebrow at Reina. "Your turn. I've given you truths, you give me some in return. Make this a fair exchange."
When Carey caught up to him, Flint wasn't surprised - though he did glance back to see if their 'kids' were out of earshot. It seemed they were, or at least, he hoped so, and so he looked at Carey with a small frown.
"I suppose so," he said, after a few moments, and offered a smile. It was only mildly strained. "What's up?"
Casual seemed like the way to play it, though he wasn't quite sure on what Carey wanted to talk about. What he'd overheard this morning? The fake relationship (which was still great)? Whatever it was, he couldn't help but be somewhat concerned about the talk.

Reina nodded in understanding to Isak. She glanced to the older adults, and frowned as she realized that she wasn't able to hear them. Well, that wasn't much fun. She pulled her scarf on her face a little more tight before she glanced back to her companion. She knew she had to make this work.
She felt a nervous pit in her stomach when he told her what he thought. She didn't think that she could bring herself to do that at any point. Well... No... She handled worse. Of course that didn't negate what he was saying at all.
"I was with my firneds on the hliday in Queens, the outbreak came, and I tried to travel with my group...which I had to soon abandon." she said to him while shoving her hands in her pockets. Now her hands were shaking as she was recalling the stronger and prominent memories. "Before I drove my way out, I tried to get my family...of course they were out and in the parks... I know for a fact my brother Ignacio is dead because I had to shoot him." she managed to way while hastily blinking back her tears.
That was when she bit on her pale lips from behind her scarf. "What do you mean you keep him in check? I have some of my truths, let's keep this going."

Carey glanced back at the two younger members of the group before assuring himself he couldn't be heard. He sighed. "If we're going to continue acting like we're dating, we really should get to know each other. Plus, we need a story we can agree on in case someone asks us how we met or something like that. This relationship isn't going to last two days if we don't have one cohesive story. Reina's smart, she'll pick up on it soon if we don't step up our game."
From the way Flint had tensed up when he first mentioned a talk, he probably hadn't expected this. To be honest, he had briefly considered asking him to play off the relationship as a joke, but he had realized that he actually didn't mind it. Sure, it had all happened pretty suddenly. And Flint was much more forward than he was used to. But then again, if then world had effectively ended why not have a little fun?
"There are a few other things I want to talk to you about as well," like medications and similar topics, "but they can wait. If we'll be spending the night together, I'm in no rush." He grinned. "So, first things first: how exactly did we meet?"
