(Yeah lol he totally ruined her life it was not cool JLaw was in it too who I used to really like but now she's meh)
"I'm sure you do." Kaden replied smoothly, but it was an obvious tease, he wasn't actually sure if Niko really did have any underlying reasons. The man was so odd in his habits and mannerisms sometimes Kaden couldn't get a read on him.
"Your kids? That's awfully nice of you." Kaden arched a brow. He treated his crew like family, but never his children. His boss before that had called him son on occasion which had always felt like a reward, but it was usually when he was trying to manipulate him into doing a dangerous job or more work. He hadn't felt bad taking over his gang from the old man, he had done most of the work and strategizing for years anyway so it was only a matter of time. Kaden returned Maria's warm smile with a slight smile of his own, it wasn't much, but it was more than most people were able to get out of him at least.
He watched the two exchange a look after his question. He missed his second, he could rely on her for practically anything as well, she had been the first to get killed in the raid. It felt like getting stabbed deep in the guys then having the knife wrenched out to let all his insides spill out. Thinking about her wasn't an option or he would lose his mind, he needed to help those who were alive right now.
His attention focused back to Niko and Maria and he shrugged a little. "Okay. Can't really blame them anyway." He was sure he wouldn't be particularly welcoming to someone who had lead a rival gang, let alone trusting.

( smh @ him i used to like her but then she tried 2 hard and now shes disrespectful + also problematic why does she gotta )
Niko gave what was a definite huff, but his lips quirked upwards for the second time that day. Kaden was...strangely amusing? He wasn't often interested by other people, but this man had managed to capture his interest, and that was probably what unnerved him the most.
"They are my babies and I love them and I will kill for them," he stated in a deadpan voice.
Maria snorted softly and rolled her eyes upwards, as if this was something she heard often. After a moment, the woman cleared her throat and tilted her head to the side slightly.
"You might have trouble with Niko's real second," she stated slowly, "but they haven't been around recently. Completely M.I.A, so don't worry at the moment."

(Yeah he was v lonely it was like a year alone and then 89 more years but c'mon guy you dragged her down with you True true, not a fan of the disrespect to places she filmed and her general problematic qualities, but I used to like her a lot so she bums me out now for being not so chill)
Kaden took a moment, he had really tried to hold it in, but a grin broke out in a slow spread across his face and then a short laugh. He didn't know what made him do it, Niko was just an odd guy who he couldn't quite figure out, but something about a grown and dangerous man calling other grown and dangerous people 'his babies' in a deadpan tone actually made him laugh. It was a rare sight, possibly intoxicating since the guy usually wore a judgmental scowl.
"Alright, well I'll be sure to keep that in mind." He said, a ghost of a grin still on his face. He wasn't sure about Niko still, but he was sure he had picked the right option out of all the bosses he could have tried to join.
He glanced to Maria when she spoke again, his grey eyes on her carefully. He had been under the impression she was his second, not that there was another who was apparently not welcoming to newcomers. Or possibly just him. Whatever, he could deal with it either way, he had to. Plus Niko didn't seem to necessarily hate him, so it wasn't like the real second could be too aggressive toward him.
"True second? Then are you his third?" Kaden asked teasingly. This was much more teasing then he had done in a while, but his sarcastic attitude made it hard to resist.

( damn....tfw ya libido makes u ruin the life of someone else....what ya doin man yeah she was actually p okay for a while ?? tried a lil too hard to be liked but shes an extrovert so i understood but then DAMN she aint so chill no more )
The laugh caught Niko off-guard and he raised his eyebrows, but he did smile. A quiet smile, one that was so rare on his face that even Maria raised her eyebrows, but it was a smile nonetheless. He tilted his head and nodded firmly, glad that that had been settled. He moved away to a younger member who gestured for him, and so left Maria with Kaden.
Maria crossed her arms over her chest, grinning thoughtfully.
"No...no, I'd say that, hmm...Finn is probably is third. I'm more like his fourth, but since Cas - that's his second - and Finn aren't around very often anymore, I've taken a place at his side," she raised her shoulders in a 'what can ya do' motion. "Didn't you have more than one person that you could confide in often? Niko just chose Finn and myself when Cas went on their little expeditions, and then Finn went with Cas one day and," she frowned, "bam. Gone. They've been missing for a couple of weeks now, but that's not unusual for Cas. You might as well learn this," she shook her head, "nothing secret, and better for you to know than to overstep and ask Niko."

Libido always leads to selfish choices Psh he was the worst for that though haha it stressed me out when he lied and said her pod just malfunctioned too She was! Then she like need more attention I guess?? Idk why celebs do what they do tbh)
Kaden was a bit surprised to see the smile was well, it was a good smile no matter how subtle, he had to admit. He wouldn't mind seeing it again, but he wasn't going to try for it. Niko still was someone who was just out of his grasp of understanding, he felt like he knew absolutely nothing about him still. He was sure Niko felt similarly about him, but still it was strange. He had always known the secrets of his gang, and only some were close enough to know his.
"Finn and Cas huh? So you think they're going to have a problem with me being here?" He asked her, since she seemed to be the one around here who knew them all well and was willing to talk to him. "How long have they been gone?" He frowned, he let his gang come and go as they pleased, but two missing members who were close to him would be cause for concern and questions.
He frowned more and gave a shrug. "I had people. Not a lot who I was close enough to, maybe two that I confided in more than others." He replied, but didn't want to be on the subject speaking about himself. They were both dead or in prison currently, it was his fault. They were also the only ones who really knew much about him, his gang was loyal and they were close, but any information he dropped to them to help them feel they knew him was surface level. Tara, Svetlana, and Jamie were the only ones he could really confide in, and even then he kept walls. But he had watched Tara get hit, he had dragged her from the room and tried to stop her bleeding. He didn't know about the others, but he had watched her die and the guilt weighed him down.

( a selfish man. what a liar. im gonna fight him ja ? its like..whoa my dude maybe Chill Slightly )
"Finn follows Niko," Maria explained, "he'll be annoyed that Niko didn't ask him first, but he also acknowledges that Niko doesn't answer to him. Cas, on the other hand...they're a little more outgoing. I mean, not gonna lie, Niko and Cas have been on rocky terms for a while so no-one really understands what's going on, but they can twist him any way they like, which means if they wanted you out, you'd be out. Your best chance at the moment is to win over enough people to make Niko stand up for you if Cas comes back."
She grimaced slightly and considered. A couple of weeks ago...well, no, she was overestimating.
"They've been gone for about...ten, eleven days? Maybe twelve, I don't know. It's a little weird, but Cas does like their vanishing tricks," she smiled.
Niko returned to them, having dealt with a few problems - though he was sporting a fresh cut on his cheek. It had stopped bleeding already, which meant that he completely ignored it. Instead, he raised his eyebrows slightly and tilted his head to look at Kaden.
"Is she trying to scare you off already?" he asked coolly.

(She best him up a little which was much deserved Haha exactly!)
Kaden didn't like the thought of Niko's close second and third manipulating him enough to kick Kaden out. He had been under the impression nobody could tell the guy what to do, but he assumed they were an exception to that rule. It unnerved him more than he would like. He hated having to get onto someone's good side, he could do it with jobs and people he would never see again, but he couldn't stand being someone's dog. He had done his time scraping by and being submissive to other people barking orders at him and telling him what to do. Niko didn't really bark so it hadn't bothered him yet, but the position he was in still made him uncomfortable. He really didn't know how to win people over, it had been so long since he had to do that.
"That's a while. But I guess if it's not abnormal." He replied. It wasn't that he was really concerned for them, he didn't know them, but his own problems had started about a week ago, so he wondered if they were in some form of trouble. It wasn't his business to worry about them though so he wasn't going to spend more time thinking about it.
Kaden acknowledged Niko's return, his eyes lingered on the fresh cut for a moment which sparked his curiosity, but he didn't bother asking since he wasn't sure if Niko would even answer, it wasn't any of his business. Instead he just shrugged in reply, "Nah. She's been cool."

( good. she shouldve kicked his ass more but yknow, each to their own <: )
"A little longer than average," Maria admitted, before waving a hand lightly. "Anyway," she flashed a grin at Niko, "I have work to do, and my boy's teacher just called so I had better go. See you."
Without another word, the woman left the warehouse. Niko's gaze followed her, before he flicked it back to Kaden and raised a single eyebrow. The smile that had been on his face was gone, now, replace by the careful blankness that he managed to maintain. He blinked once, then twice, and then made a vague gesture.
"There aren't many people here at the moment, so I can show you around the territory, if you want. We might find some people here and there."

(Agreed I would have she really let him off easy)
Kaden watched her go, he wouldn't have guessed she was a mother. He wondered how old her kid was, but he didn't ask since if it were him he wouldn't want any stranger knowing much about his child. He turned his attention back to Niko, his own expression gave nothing away of his thoughts, but he wasn't scowling as much as usual.
He gave a short nod in reply, his thoughts still on the missing second and third, although he wasn't keen on figuring out where they were he just found it odd that someone could just disappear for so long. He decided he would be worried if it was one of his own, and given that Niko referred to them all as his children he wondered if he was concerned with their whereabouts. Maria had also said they weren't on good terms though. He decided he didn't care and was going to focus on what was happening currently.
"Yeah, sure." He agreed, it would be good to know some people and be aware of where he was going around the place since he had only snuck into the junkyard that night and didn't get to really explore the place.

( did they fix the pod that she came from or nah )
For a moment, Niko simply watched Kaden - before turning his head and heading out of the warehouse. The warehouse, itself, was easy enough to navigate - it was the streets that became twisty and turny and generally confused the hell out of people. He walked at a rather leisurely pace, hands in his pockets and gaze on the ground.
"Hey," he said, after a few moments. "Answer me this. Is it getting more dangerous for our people?"
He said 'our people' as in 'gangs'. It was easier, felt more neighbourly. Sure, the gangs always had turf wars and all of that, but in the end - they weren't really that different, if Kaden was anyone to go by. He needed to know, however, if something had happened to cause Kaden's gang to go down so suddenly. Well. Less of a need, at the moment, but more of a want. He was a curious person by nature, even if he refused to show it.

(Nah haha they couldn't fix either of theirs and at the end they found a way for one of them to go back to sleep but she chose not to because of love I guess blah blah)
Kaden walked beside him, his own hands in his jacket pockets, mostly to keep the cold out as he followed Niko's lead. His own eyes wandered the perimeter, trying to take it all in and actually be able to remember where he was going. He had a good memory for things he had seen, not quite a photographic memory, but close enough to have it be considered a talent of his.
He was taken off guard by the question. It was a reasonable one to ask, but his jaw set slightly as he tried to decide how to answer without giving too much away. Niko didn't need to know the details until Kaden was able to figure it out for himself. He knew there was foul play in his case, someone wanted him gone or dead, but they had managed to get a pretty heavy force to take him down with plenty of info to do it. They knew all his places, his whole crew, and when they would be together which was startling. But Kaden didn't have enough information to feel comfortable sharing since he still had a target on his back and despite the skills he could offer that wasn't exactly a desirable trait in a new member,
He sighed and kicked a rock a moment, then glanced at Niko, his expression grim. "I'd say it is. More than before." The people he had lost were proof of that.

( damn wtf....dont love the guy who woke u up bc he wanted to get laid )
"Okay," he said, in a simple tone.
Niko had guessed that it was more dangerous. With a gang falling and others seeming to have trouble, he noted that at present, he was the only one with what could be considered peace - and even then, two of his members hadn't been around for a while. Now that he thought about it, it was strange.
"I think my second is probably dead, and has taken my third with them, but I can't be confident," he flicked his gaze to Kaden, "I'm only telling you this because I want your opinion - not as someone lower, but as an equal, for now. If you got into a severe argument with your second and the next day the left with your third and didn't come back, would you believe that they had betrayed you or that they had died?"
Paranoia was not something Niko was accustomed to. His meds helped him with that. It had been a while since he had felt it, but the rational part of his brain told him that Cas would rather die than betray him - but then again, they were both extremely petty people.

(Literally though I was like girl what are you doinnn I mean chris pratt is cute ngl and he was actually a pretty cool guy in the movie but it just seemed cliche)
Kaden looked back at Niko when he asked his advice as a former leader, he hadn't expected him to confide in him especially with something so close to him. He pulled a hand from his pocket and rubbed the back of his neck thoughtfully. If Jamie and Lara took off after a fight he would be pissed, but he wasn't sure if he would expect them to betray him. "I don't know. I would probably think they betrayed me first, but I'm not too great at having faith in people. But if it were my second and third?" He paused a moment and shook his head a moment, "I guess I'd assume they were dead." He admitted. It was a tough question, the part of him that refused to trust anyone screamed betrayal, but the part that cared about his friends and knew they wouldn't do that to him and would rather just leave then betray him said he was being ridiculous.
"Was the fight bad? Maybe they just got tired of you. Can't really blame him." He teased lightly, but then frowned a little. "I don't have a lot of resources left, but if you want I can try and reach out to them, see if they've heard anything?" He suggested. He would be stressed if He was in Niko's place and despite his pettiness, with everything going on he would need to at least know where they were.

"Hm."
Niko pulled his phone out of his pocket and checked it idly as he considered Kaden's words. The question caused him to think carefully, eyes narrowing. Had the fight been bad? He didn't think it was, but maybe they'd considered otherwise. He clicked his tongue lightly as he ducked into an alleyway, hyper-aware of the police car at the end of the street. They obviously weren't looking for the gang's hideout, but the fact that they were close unnerved him.
"It might've been bad," he shrugged lightly, "they're emotional, though. Like. Really emotional," he huffed lightly, "nah, don't worry about it. I'll find them eventually - and if Finn isn't with them, then there'll be hell to play. Anyway," he shrugged lightly, "what sort of place do you want to see first? There are loads of places here - hiding places, quiet places, loud places. I dunno. It's a busy part of town once you get to civilisation."

(Haha yeah that was gr8 Sometimes I'm down for cliche, the movie wasn't bad, but this wasn't my fav type of cliche idk)
Kaden noticed the police car and felt his heart rate involuntarily speed up. He took a deep breathe, police were always around and they had been after him before so he really shouldn't allow himself to have extra anxiety about the situation. He exhaled and pulled his hood over his head, just incase the officer was paying attention. He was on a lot of radars right now and he didn't want to be recognized.
"Really emotional?" He repeated and raised both brows, he didn't know how to deal with people who were excessively emotional considering he hid most of his emotions other than anger. He shrugged a bit, if Niko felt he'd find them then fine, it wasn't his job to try and figure the situation out for him and he wasn't going to try to since Niko could handle himself.
"I don't have a preference. I guess the loud places. Get that over with." He replied.

( ahh i get u man i like some cliches but not all of them )
Niko hummed confirmation as he ducked out of the alley and into another street. Okay, that was weird - there were police here, too. He paused and studied the tape and where they were, before shaking his head and moving on, gaze fixed pointedly forward. It didn't matter that it was Cas' house they were surrounding - he expected that their sister had put out a missing persons report, or something.
"Yep, very emotional. Loud place is a few blocks away, so it shouldn't take long to get to. It's a little overwhelming, though," he tilted his head to look at Kaden from the corner of his eye. "You should tell me more about yourself. I don't know very much about you."
It was less of a suggestion and closer to a command.

(Ugh I just need people to start making some fresh new movies ya know?)
Kaden kept his head down, now he was really nervous and with that many cops around he had every right to be. He was a wanted man and any self respecting criminal wouldn't be casual around that many police. He glanced at the house they were around and wondered if Niko knew them. He wasn't going to let his eyes linger though, that created more suspicion than he wanted to draw towards him.
Kaden preferred quiet, he didn't like parties much or people that caused a scene, but if every crew there were plenty of loud excitable people so he had learned to deal with it adequately. He made a face when Niko asked him to tell him more about who he was. "What is this an interview." He snorted and shook his head a little. "I'll answer some questions, but you gotta ask." He wasn't about to just come up with bullet points about himself and tell them. He needed specific questions and then maybe he would answer them. Judging by Niko's tone he would probably be answering more than he cared for.

( i feel u man i dont rly watch movies anymore bc they Bore me )
Questions - he could come up with those, probably. Niko checked his pockets and found his pack of cigarettes, taking one and putting it between his lips before lighting it. He took a long, slow drag as he considered the various questions he could ask, and then exhaled. White breath from the cold air and the smoke caused more of a cloud in front of him, but he didn't seem to care too much.
Instead, he chose that he could probably start small. A question that wasn't too taxing and didn't demand anything of Kaden - basics, really. He narrowed his eyes and tapped some of the ash from his cigarette. Niko was not good at this, but he was trying and that, he believed, was what counted.
"Favourite colour?"

(I love movies and story telling I'm just tired of the same stories and characters ugh But I'm hopeful for some good ones soon, I want to see that new horror movie with James Mcavoy!)
Kaden watched his careful process, he craved a cigarette himself, but he really was trying to quit. Well, not so much succeeding, but he wanted to. He also wanted a cigarette. He wasn't sure he caught Niko's first question when he asked it. Favorite color? Why would he ever want or need to know that. It seemed dumb to him, but hey the less person he had to get the better,
"You serious?" He asked but it was more rhetorical. He thought for a moment, that wasn't something he had considered for a while, not since he was a kid. But when asked he knew the answer. "Green I guess."
He was curious if Niko had a favorite color, but asking felt a little too much like a slumber party or something childish.

"Green," Niko repeated, then narrowed his eyes at Kaden. He took another drag of his cigarette as if that would even his temper, but he shook his head. "That's a terrible favourite colour. Pick another one."
Someone had something against the colour green. He glanced down briefly at his phone as a message popped up, before looking to Kaden once more. His eyes were slightly narrowed - not in distrust, but in mild disgust that his favourite colour was so...sick-coloured. Green? Who even had green as a favourite colour? Not Niko.

((So true they might be making one of my other old favs into a movie which startled me but I want to see it in other media UGH so torn It's like split personality kinda it seemed odd and interesting he's a good actor but it's not v realistic)
Kaden glared at him and scoffed, "yeah really? Hate to break it to you buddy but your eyes are green." He pointed out and shook his head. Who was he to decide what color was better than others? Had he seen the ocean in a storm, an entirely lush forest? Psh, Kaden didn't think so. Whatever he didn't have to prove his color to Niko and now that he knew he wanted to, he certainly wasn't picking a new one.
"I know this is a concrete jungle, but have you ever seen a real forest? Or a body of water other than murky canals." He questioned. "Just because you don't like my answer doesn't mean I'm changing it. What's yours anyway to make you so high and mighty." He grumbled.

"I know," Niko said, in what could be considered a mournful manner. "Curse these genes for giving me this eye colour. Actually, not really my genes. My entire family has brown eyes. I'm a genetic throwback or something. Anyway, green is still awful."
He considered his own favourite colour, before nodding firmly.
"Pink," he said, in a serious tone.

"Pink? Really?" Kaden dragged out the second word and arched his brows. "Your color is literally the most obnoxious color I can think of, yet mines the worst? I don't think so." He snorted. He was pretty sure he had never heard anyone complain about having green eyes, he had nice eyes he shouldn't be so dramatic.
"Why pink?" He wanted to know, despite the fact that he was supposed to be answering questions.

"It's not obnoxious," Niko huffed in reply, "it's nice."
That question, however, caught him off-guard. He took a moment to consider it. On one hand, he could lie by omission - simply say 'because' and be done with it. Or he could tell part of the full truth, which would be easier, he noted, in the long-term. He sighed softly.
"My father used to always tell me that if I wanted to be a guy, I couldn't like pink. I'm the pettiest person I know. I started liking pink just to spite him, and it ended up becoming my favourite colour," he shrugged, "my spite often turns into something real. I'm too stubborn to back away. Gotta make my point."
Even if his father was long-gone now.

(It sounds interesting! I love good characters <3 if I ever get a chance I'll check it out! It's about this kinda futuristic place where all men's thoughts can be heard in what they call the noise and women are silent. The main guy meets this girl who came from somewhere else and they're kind of on the run together from his society, it's so so good and I did a bad job at explaining lol)
Kaden smirked a bit, he could be obnoxiously petty as well so he appreciated that kind of resilience, especially to spite ones father. "Nice." He said, more approving than mocking. He seemed a little off when talking about his father, so he didn't think he wanted to pry into family matters. He would appreciate if Niko did the same since his own past wasn't anything he liked bringing up.
"Alright that question was easy. What else do you want to know?"

Niko appreciated that Kaden didn't seem to pry - and so he decided that he could lay off from some of the questions he'd had. For a moment, he simply remained silent, choosing to kick at snow lightly instead of speak, taking drags every so often from his cigarette. Once it was finished, he simply dropped the butt and ground it into the pavement, before turning to look at Kaden.
"Why did you decide to get involved in this sort of work? Being in a gang and all?" it seemed like a reasonable question.

(I will if I get a chance! It really is I loved it so much, it's really interesting)
Kaden watched him silently, his hands still in his pockets, they were always kind of cold so being outside made it worse. Although It wasn't as freezing as it had been early in the morning, he could still faintly see is breath when he breathed out.
He wasn't too surprised by the next question, it made sense to ask. He just wasn't sure how he wanted to answer it. There were a lot of things that played a role in his choice. His messed up family being a prominent one. Who he got involved with in high school another. Where he lived was also a factor, and his inability to see himself doing much else. He also had a knack for steeling things and getting into fights, he could pick a lock several times faster than most people. He didn't ever feel he had much of a future anyway,
"I don't know. Why does anyone." He started to reply, going through the motion of closing himself off. He sighed a little and ran a hand through his hair before deciding to explain further. "There were a lot of reasons I guess. I grew up on the south side of town and it wasn't exactly kid friendly. My dad was in and out, mom wasn't stable and I was an only child so." He shrugged a bit, but didn't explain his family situation further, or that he was pretty well aquatinted with the foster system. "School wasn't for me, I got close with some people and then I joined up. Worked my way to the top." He kept his explanation simple, but gave more details than he usually would.
"I just didn't see myself doing anything else. They were a family, that's what I wanted." He kept his gaze on the city. It had been what he needed, not just what he wanted. It helped pay the apartment bills, keep his mom alive. Not that she helped with either of those things.

( nice ! i might check it out o: )
A surprisingly polite person, Niko remained silent as Kaden spoke. He took in the information and processed it thoughtfully. It sounded like a fairly generic reason as to why someone would join a gang, and so he nodded lightly. It was entirely understandable, even to someone like Niko, who didn't have as much empathy as he ought to have had.
"I see," he said, and it was the truth. "What's the reason you sought out another gang instead of either laying as low as possible or moving across the country?"
He didn't ask what had happened to the gang. It wasn't his question to ask yet - only if his own gang was endangered would he ask.
"Also," he said, his voice quieter, "if you think these questions are too intrusive, I'm giving you the option to ask for information in return."

(You should!!)
Kaden crossed his arms over his chest and again had to keep himself from withdrawing. Even simple information and reasonable questions he had trouble sharing, but Niko had a right to ask, he would do the same. He had asked himself the same question several times since the ambush anyway and he still couldn't really figure out the entire truth of why he stayed. He couldn't tell Niko he was trying to free his crew, that would be more information about the situation than he wanted to share. For now, it looked like an unfortunate bust, but nothing incredibly odd.
"This place is my home. I grew up in this city and I'm not leaving it. I hate running, I don't want to do that anymore." He muttered in reply and shook his head. He had done plenty of running as a kid and he wasn't going to do it anymore, he wouldn't go down easy.
"Alright, then why did you join?" He asked, genuinely curious. A lot of his gang had similar stories to his, he didn't think it was anything special, but he wondered what Niko's deal was, the guy seemed unique.

( i'll def look into it ! )
A small nod of understanding passed over Niko. He understood about not wanting to leave a home - though he had left multiple homes behind. He hadn't always been here, despite his gang enjoying their little rumour-spreading. It was their (enjoyable) task to spread rumours about their boss, so the truth was lost somewhere within that.
The question about him joining caused him to frown, but...well, he'd offered the information trade, and he wasn't going to go back on his word. He inhaled deeply and reached for another cigarette, all too aware that he'd had his first only a few minutes before.
"I'd make a joke about it being a family thing. My mom was in a gang in Mexico, my father is literally part of a mafia family in Italy, but they never encouraged me to do the same. They wanted their youngest daughter to have a happy life and to, I dunno, become someone's trophy wife," he tapped ash from his cigarette lightly. "Turns out I messed with all of their plans. The daughter part, the happy part, all of that. My father became angry. More controlling. He told me that if I even thought about joining a Spanish gang and followed in my mother's footsteps, he'd kill me."
He paused to take a long drag, trying to temper his quick-beating heart.
"So I joined a gang. At the time, I lived in New Mexico. It was a little one, and we were barely anything - but my father kept to his word. He killed them all, tried to kill me. Failed miserably to kill me. At the time, Alvarez was in town - that was the previous leader of this gang. She saved my life, took me in. She became my new mother, really, and helped me with everything I needed. That's how I fell into this gang, and it's why I refuse to leave them. Alvarez did so much for me - she's the reason I'm alive today, and I can never repay her enough for it."
He exhaled slowly and tilted his head to look at Kaden.
"Tell me one of your secrets. I've told you one of mine."
