⇹ Palestream || Mossy Clearing || Morning || Bearpaw Palestream chuckled softly, her whiskers twitching in amusement. "I doubt that you, out of everything I've fought in my lifetime, would hurt me. Besides, I know that you wouldn't hurt me purposely." Readjusting her crouch and flexing her muscles, the flat faced warrior narrowed her eyes. "Now attack me."

[ Great! I'll be rather poofy, but here's my first. ]
Aurorapaw
Aurorapaw was heading toward the mossy field. She walked through the forest, taking in deep, soothing breaths. The fresh air filled her lungs and rejuvenated her. The young white she-cat arrived quickly due to the short distance between there and the camp. She passed walked through the field, sinking her paws into the soft ground. Aurorapaw quickly went to worth, tearing moss out of the ground. She dug some up, and clutched it in her mouth. It's the slightest bit damp, she thought ruefully. but it'll have to do. She dropped the extra moss over her shoulders, and made her way back to the camp. She stepped into it, watching the cats hustle and bustle and preform their daily duties. Aurorapaw wondered where she should start.
Rockclaw
Rockclaw was hunting with Swanflight. They weren't near any sort of landmark, but they did follow familiar signs. Rockclaw decided to stop and hunt in the bushes. He knew Swanflight wouldn't like it, and she didn't, not in the slightest. Despite her constant complaints, he stiffened, tasting the air. Swanflight became quiet, presumably so that he could actually hunt rather than scare away potential catches. Rockclaw couldn't smell anything, but his ears pricked as he saw an unnatural rustle disturb a bush. The rustling was upwind, so it was logical that he couldn't smell it . . . but he'd have to act quickly. He beckoned for Swanflight to stay still, and started to creep after the disturbances.
Swanflight
As her littermate slipped into the undergrowth, Swanflight turned her attention toward the trees. She loved climbing. Traditional ground hunting? Not so much. Birds sang all around her, blissfully unaware of her presence. Unfortunately, they were far out of reach. There was no point in attempting to grab a bird that's five foxlengths higher than you. Swanflight stared regretfully at the sky for another moment, before realizing that Rockclaw still hadn't returned. What's taking him so long? she thought crossly, I better go after him. He always manages to get himself into trouble. Flicking her black-tipped tail, Swanflight dove into the bushes after him, her slender body barely disturbing the leaves.

⇹ Palestream || Mossy Clearing || Morning || Bearpaw When Bearpaw launched at her, Palestream easily rolled to the side and leaped to her paws, pinning him down. "You've got to think about where your going to launch, not look at it, Bearpaw." Palestream knew just from where his amber eyes would flicker to, where he was planning on attacking. "Try it again, but with a different technique. Use my advice and we'll see where that goes." And hopefully he would get it. Her apprentice only had a few more moons left of his training and Palestream wanted him to pass his final assessment. Cats who didn't pass there assessment were forced back into training and they were given a second chance. But if they still didn't pass, they would just be a... sort of cleaner-uper to everyone around the Clan. Palestream returned to her spot, crouchi6down and tensing her muscles. "Began." She mewed, unaware of Aurorapaw's watchful eyes.

⇹ Palestream || Mossy Clearing || Morning || Bearpaw Palestream let out a startled gasp when her apprentice held her paws down, as she had planned to rear up on her hindlegs since his gaze were pinned to her shoulders. But Palestream retaliated quickly, butting her head into Bearpaw's chest and trying to unbalance the young apprentice

⇹ Palestream || Mossy Clearing || Morning || Bearpaw With a grunt, Palestream gave in. Letting herself go limp under her apprentice's paws and breathing heavily. This was apart of training, her going limp and weak all of a sudden. Slowly, the gray and white she-cat closed her eyes and let her breathing go shallow. The senior warrior actually did look like she was severely hurt. Years of having an apprentice and a brother, had helped her master the play injured kr dead trick. Since she hadn't taught him yet, Bearpaw's reaction would most likely be like every other cats' reaction.

⇹ Palestream || Mossy Clearing || Morning || Bearpaw The warrior waited until her apprentice was close enough before she rolled onto her back and gripped Bearpaw's shoulders between her forelegs, flipping him over and giving him a kick with her hindlegs. Palestream let out an amused purr once she got up to her paws. "Remember this tactic in battle Bearpaw, surprise is a warriors best trick yet." She panted and shook out the mossy and leaves from her gray and white pelt. "Maybe you could try it on one of your denmates when we return. But right now, we cab start hunting. And maybe tomorrow I'll ask Nightstar to join us so you can learn some partner battle tactics."

⇹ Palestream || Mossy Clearing || Morning || Bearpaw "Sure. But you can handle that. When we get back to camp after our hunt, you can ask one of your denmates to train with us. But only if their mentor tags along, it'll be best Nightstar just tests your fighting skills for the time being. He hasn't tagged along with us in a while now." And after tomorrow, Bearpaw would have one more assessment with her brother observing. And that was his final assessment. "Come on, let's head towards the marshes."

⇹ Palestream || Marshes || Morning || Bearpaw Palestream led the way through the forest and to the marshes. Today was going to be a hunting, she knew from how the birdsong echoed around her and from how the sun shone down brightly onto the forest floor. "What can you scent Bearpaw?" She mewed. She'd might as well take advantage of this walk. "Anything out of place?" [/quote]

⇹ Palestream || Marshes || Morning || Bearpaw Dirt? "Well of course you'll smell dirt silly, we aren't the only animals in this forest." She mewed and lifted her face so she could see what he smelled. It was fresh fox-dung. Not far. Fear and uncertainty sent chills throughout her pelt, making it prickle with unease. "Where ever it is, we should leave it alone. We don't know if it could be near or not and your half experienced with fighting foxes. Maybe I'll check it out on my patrol later on." She suggested, trying to soothe her apprentice, though she wasn't even sure he was worried. What was it with those younger cats and battles? Who am I to talk? I was one of those cats once. She thought, remembering how excited she and her brother were when going against badgers and foxes. "Come on."

(Thank you!)
Sagepaw sat beside the swampy pond, staring down into the depths of the musky water. She could dimly see her reflection and stared into the faint glimmer of her ashy eyes. A faint chuckle escaped her as she made faces at the portion of herself that she could see. Her bushy tail flicked lightly next to her, accidentally landing in the water, disturbing the pond with a splash. The she-cat lept to her feet in surprise, the cold touch surprising her. Her eyes were opened wide as she stared ahead of her, not daring to look over to her sister. There were a few deep breaths coming from the she-cat beside her, disturbing the now-silent swamp.
"Sagepaw...." Blossomstep spoke softly in her calm register. She slowly turned her head to see her dark furred sister. Her green eyes blinked as she held back her immediate reaction, knowing that her sister had just scared a kill from her grasp. "Do you recall why I brought you with me?"
"Yes," Sagepaw replied slowly, remaining where she stood, looking down at the paws of Blossomstep. "You brought me here to learn to catch from the Frog Spring Pond."
"Correct. And what have you done thus far?"
"Nothing...." Sagepaw spoke quietly, wishing to shrink away from existence. "I'm sorry, Blossomstep, I can't seem to focus today."
When do you ever, thought the warrior to herself, though retaining her steady position.

⇹ Palestream || Marshes || Morning || Bearpaw Palestream hesitated on Bearpaw's question, hot trying to worry him. "It was fox dirt." She answered silently as they trekked through the forest, the ground growing muddier by the second. "But you shouldn't worry about that now, we're here. So you can began your hunt." Palestream sniffed the air, kneading her paws into the marshy ground nervously. She didn't want to leave him alone now that she knew there was a fox nearby. "Let's stay together. See if you can scent any prey right here. I can smell a lizard just around here somewhere."
⇹Oakfoot|| Frog Spring Pond|| Oakfoot satrouched in the long grasses that grew in the marshy area around the pond, his amber gaze locked on a mouse that scurried in the grass hefore him. His tabby pelt blending in just perfectly with his surroundings. Just a little longer... the tom bunched his muscles preparing to leap. Easy... Easy... The warrior launched himself at his target, landing squarely on its back. The mouse immediately fell still, too small to bear his weight. Burying his catch in a patch of grass, the tabby sniffed the air for more prey. He caught the scent of... Sagepaw! That pesky apprentice, she was supposed to be back in camp helping Woodepelt. "Just wait till I get my paws on her."

"Well, you've probably scared any prey from the pond," Blossomstep continued in her gentle voice after taking a moment to collect herself. She rose to her paws and began to glance around. Her eyes narrowed for a brief moment before an idea popped into her head and she turned back towards her sister. "Why don't you try sniffing out prey in other areas for awhile and work on your agility and hunting?"
Sagepaw looked up into Blossomstep's forest green eyes. She remained still for a moment before dipping her head and wandering away from the swampy pond. Her head was lowered towards the ground while she walked, her mood sunken. If I had only paid attention, maybe I'd be learning how to fish or something cool rather than just plain old hunting. The young apprentice glanced back to see that her sister had already returned to the pond and was trying to sniff out more prey. A sigh escaped from Sagepaw's mouth as she continued to watch Blossomstep's technique. She was completely unaware that her mentor was nearby.

⇹ "Well, apparently, your sister didn't try to tell you the orders her mentor gave her specifically earlier today." The tabby told the young she-cat in front of him before glaring over at Sagepaw. "So did you even think about helping Woodenpelt before you went out for a fishing expedition?" It was so clear that Oakfoot was upset with Sagepaw's disobediance. Does she honestly every listen to my orders? She'd ought to be ashamed. He himself had already planned on teaching the young apprentice to hunt in the marshes later on today. But maybe not since she seemingly didn't know how to listen.

Sagepaw whipped around at the sound of her mentor's voice, her gray eyes wide open in a panic. She stood frozed, staring ahead at Oakfoot. "Uhm..." the apprentice began to stutter. She glanced back to where her sister was still hunting. As she turned back to Oakfoot, it hit her: I was supposed to be doing something. She gulped
"Um, I am out here hunting. Blossomstep was trying to teach me how to fish..." Sagepaw replied, her voice steadying.
--
Blossomstep lifted her body from where she had been crouched as she sniffed out prey. Her ear twitched as she heard voices in the distance. She turned to see Oakfoot standing before Sagepaw. He doesn't look too happy, the she-cat thought to herself. She trotted over to join the pair, ignoring her sister and looking up to her senior warrior.
"My apologies, Oakfoot," Blossomstep dippered her head, "I took her out of camp to help me hunt without bothering to ask if she were busy." That wasn't a lie, but the she-cat also knew her sister could have spoken up about already having been assigned a task. She decided to leave this unmentioned, at least for now.
