Hello! I haven't roleplayed in a pretty long time, and I figured a small rp would be a good way to warm up again. I already have a vague idea for a plot, so whoever wants to join can help me iron out the details, or contribute their own ideas. c:
Plot:
Our plot is placed in the distant future, where amazing technological advancements that we haven't even dreamed of yet are this time period's reality. In this future, for unknown reasons, a tiny percentage of a new generation is born with a strange mutation in their DNA. Scientists took those children as infants, who are now aged between 16-18, and are studying the origin of their mutation and its consequential effects -- they each have a unique superpower. The kids live in an underground lab, knowing only each other and the scientists that perform tests on them. They plan to break out, no matter the cost or whatever they might find outside their bunker.
Roles:
I was thinking that we would limit the rp to 10 characters; enough for some people to have multiple, if they want. The kids will be classified by how strong their specific power is. One is strongest, and ten is weakest. Our characters, since they were taken in infancy, were not given names by their parents. Therefore, they go by their number, or a name of the scientists' choosing, based off of their power.
One (Leader) - Siren Two (Leader's best friend) - Omen Three - Illusion Four - Venom Five - Akane Six - Specter Seven - Cyber Eight - Ruby Nine - Kite Ten -
Powers:
I would rather there not be duplicates, but their powers can be pretty much anything, as long as it's not too outrageous. For example, I will allow element control, but not the power to draw something and have that drawing come to life. Also, please consider the strength number of your character; if you choose to have your character be Ten, the weakest, then it's impossible for them to have a very strong power such as super strength, shapeshifting, or anything like that. Other than those restrictions, I leave the decision of the powers up to you. c:
One - Mental manipulation through sound waves (Her speech is hypnotizing and compels people to listen to her every word.) Two - Empath (can feel others' emotions and vaguely see the future) Three - Ability to create illusions or "nightmares" through touch of a person's worse fear Four - Absorbs and secretes poisons/chemicals Five - Sound manipulation Six - Ability to commune with/control spirits Seven - "Human computer", can connect to/manipulate technology Eight - Manipulation of blood Nine - Winged flight, slightly heightened senses Ten -
Joining:
I don't require a lot -- please just give a brief description of your character(s) using the following form, and the rest can be developed through roleplay.
Number and unofficial name -- (all unofficial names are given by the scientists, and have to do with their power, i.e. Siren) Description -- (includes appearance and personality. Please make both sections at least four sentences.) Power -- (please describe this as much as possible) Screen name -- (the name you go by)

The Characters:
One - Siren
Siren, AKA "One", is a very soft-spoken girl. She has very pale skin due to living inside her entire life. Siren has long, ash blonde hair that falls to the small of her back when she lets it down, but she normally keeps it tied up in a tight ponytail to keep it out of the way. She has gray eyes the color of a distant thunderstorm, and their wideness betrays her natural childlike curiosity. Siren has eyebrows darker than her hair, causing them to stand out on her face. Her cheeks are always a light pink color, so she always looks amused or slightly embarrassed. Personality-wise, she’s a humble, meek girl, and she rarely raises her voice above normal speaking tone. Don’t misunderstand, she’s not shy; she just has a lot of trouble controlling her power, so she prefers to keep silent. When Siren makes friends, she sticks to them like glue. She loves being around them, and she never wants to leave their side. She’s aware that she does this, but she can’t make herself stop. Siren is very friendly, and doesn’t hold back with her laughter, as it's one of the only noises she can make without accidentally controlling people. She’s a gentle girl, and rarely ever gets upset with people – generally, she forgives and forgets. She tries really hard not to get mad; if she makes a suggestion with her power when she's in a rage, she might cause something she'll regret later. Siren's main form of communication is through writing, typing, and sometimes sign language. She speaks occasionally, though it's mainly simple statements, opposed to eloquent speeches.
Siren's power, as you might have guessed, is the ability to compel people with her voice. Its purest form is through song, but she can still make suggestions with regular speech. Her voice is very melodic, and the sound of it makes people want to do whatever she asks, no matter the cost. Because she doesn't want to abuse this power on her friends, she rarely speaks to them out loud. ~RobinSong~
Two - Omen
Two stands at an above average 5'9", with an added inch or two thanks to her love of boots. She has lightly tanned (natural) skin with plenty of freckles across her cheeks, nose, and shoulders. Her eyes are a bright, warm hazel, almost always filled with a keen curiosity. Mousy auburn hair cuts short at her shoulders in a bob, usually messily parted to one side. Two likes casual clothing that's functional, rather that looking pretty all the time. She loves to wear boots: combat boots, cowboy boots, snow boots, etc. Basically whatever she can get her hands on. She claims this is in case she ever needs to give someone a good kick between the legs, not that that's really a possibility in the lab. Taut muscle is evident across her limbs and stomach because, which she likes to show off. To top it all off- literally -Two has found a strange fascination with hats, and can often be found wearing such an accessory, if the scientists allow her to. "Omen" is a realist, with a tendency to think of the present, and the practical. She doesn't dwell on the past, preferring to focus on the here and now (ironically). It makes her a quick thinker on her feet, and particularly resourceful. If she weren't already confident, this philosophy also helps with that. She knows who she is, what she wants, and how she deals with things. She "knows her own mind." For the most part. While this is a strength of hers, it can also be a great weakness. Remember not dwelling on the past? Well, shake up what she thinks of herself and she won't be able to focus on anything else until she solves the issue. Problem solver is a way to describe this girl. She's confrontational in the sense that she likes to have closure and solve problems, even if they aren't necessarily her own. But don't worry, she can be as snappy as ever, being mean enough for both one and herself. This makes her a decently likable person. With a deadpan sense of humor, a laid back, go with the flow characteristic, tendency to be flirty, and she's a pretty fun person to be around. It's a wonder how such a cheery personality has made it through the lab.
An empath is someone who can feel emotion and connect with others particularly well. However, in this case, Two's "empathy" refers to a mental capability to read someone's thoughts and feelings, although focusing on to concrete thoughts, actual sentences, is a difficulty. Think of it like she's telepathic, a mind reader, except with feelings and emotions. There's no doubt that some of her occasional, rude outbursts are due to an overload of others' feelings corrupting the way her own function. It can be quite a hassle to sort out her own thoughts and opinions when everyone else's feel just as personal. The second part of her ability is a bit more confusing. The scientists aren't sure just how it works. Can she actually see the future? Or is it simply her brain subconsciously gathering the culmination of someone's directed thoughts and piecing that into a probable, soon-to-occur scenario? Whatever it is, Omen seems to have insanely quick reaction times because she can see things occur a few seconds before they happen, and react then. So far, there seems to be no over bearing side effects to the latter half of her abilities, besides the occasional bout of confusion whether something had happened or not, yet.
bigbadwolf
Three - Illusion
Three stands at a height of 5"6, her features sharp and defined. Her eyes are one of the most defining features of her face, the thick lashes that encase them not helping to tone down the vibrant color at all. The soft blue color of her iris mixed in with the golden tint around the pupil just makes it impossible to not stare. When caught in her gaze, she's often the one who has to look away first seeing as how the other cannot look away. Her hair frames her face in gentle waves, the ebony color cascading down her back similar to a waterfall. She tends to run a hand through it whenever she's feeling anxious or if something upsets her. A small freckle is seen to the left of her soft pink lips, which is typically seen in a smirk or a frown of distaste. Three prefers to wear outfits that look as if they were found on one of those random online shops that come out of nowhere. One can easily describe her clothing choices as "odd." Illusion is often guarded and wary when it comes to the scientists; she speaks to them when she is told. Her responses tend to lean on the bitter side and are often laced with sarcasm, causing her to be punished. At the age of eighteen, she stands as one of the older experiments and tries her best to guide the younger ones away from angering the scientists despite doing it herself. She prefers to have herself punished than the younger ones and claims her body can handle the anguish. It isn't difficult to get her upset, and she usually has to stalk off and cool herself down before her ability is unleashed. Whenever she is around another member of the experiments, she has a childish aura around her that seems almost playful. She puts up a facade whenever one of her punishments brings her more pain than she can handle. She hides it with a grin and a sarcastic remark to change the conversation topic. Three hides her soft, gentle demeanor around the scientists with a cynical and cold attitude. Her ability has made her awkward with skin to skin contact and she often flinches when someone touches her on accident or when she isn't paying much attention.
Three's ability deals with illusions, which are more commonly called nightmares by the scientists. Upon touching someone's bare skin with her own, she gets a small glimpse of their worst fear. It plays in her head as if she was recalling a memory and it occurs in a blink of an eye. A downside of this is that she has to live through the fear before she can bring it to life. Therefore, the continuous punishments she gets from the scientists are scenarios that deal with a single fear. If Three hasn't caused a commotion or given any attitude, she is still brought to the room where her punishments are held. It is preferred for her to learn one fear a week. Remembering all these fears causes her to have a difficulty sleeping and is often given medically induced rest.
Of course her illusions are not real, but they are so strikingly lifelike that if someone was caught by surprise it would be difficult to discern reality from fantasy. Illusion is beginning to be able to choose whether or not she wishes to see someone's fear, but her full concentration is needed and her energy is drained completely. Since her ability relies on touch, scientists have to completely cover all of their bare skin in order to be in the same room with her. One scientist got careless and was overcome by her nightmare, not returning to the facility. She was punished for that, but it put her in a good mood.
Vɪᴛɪᴀᴛᴜs
Four - Venom
At the young age of eighteen, Four's height is greater than those of the elder scientists. He stands at a staggering 6"5 and his attitude just adds on to his appearance. Speaking of appearances, Venom's is one of a "don't touch me" look and makes people wary whenever they are around him. His hair is silky to the touch and his bangs hang loosely over the right portion of his face. He prefers to part his hair this way, thus leaving the left side shorter than the other. It hangs down to about a small bit past his collarbone, not having it cut since he was sixteen. His eyes are a striking blue, contrasting against the dark color of his hair. There is some green around the pupil and his eyes seem to interchange between colors in different lighting. His body is toned and muscular due to the training he continuously undergoes. His outfits tend to be careless; he doesn't mind what he wears. As long as he looks fine, why bother? Four has an arrogant aura, well-known for doing whatever it takes to get what he wants. And if that involves mayhem or mischief, then that's even better. This causes him to be the blame for mysterious occurrences in the facility, even though it may not be his fault and just a malfunction in the system. His face is often portrayed in a lazy grin, almost as if he knows something no one else does. He often pretends to be listening to a conversation when in reality, he's just not listening in general. In private, his tone is carefree and gentle with the other experimental children, unlike the steely one he takes whenever he is around the scientists. Deep down, he has the desire to take his revenge on the people who had hurt his companions and himself. Someday, he believes his dream will become reality. His stubborn streak is brought out quite often, and there is no room for any arguments, unless one desires to face his temper. He gets upset quite easily, even over the simplest of things. An issue with Venom is that he lets his emotions get the best of him, and it's just best to let him cool down and realize his mistakes so he can apologize (meekly, of course).
Four's ability deals with poisons and toxins, his body a warehouse for deadly chemicals. Each poison that is contained in his body was once injected within him, causing him to go through the numerous, painful side-effects caused from every single one. He continues to be injected once a month with a new concoction, leaving him feeble and exhausted for about a week. Poisonous gas and poisonous liquids can be secreted from his body whenever he feels a strong emotion or when he decides to do it for his own amusement. Seeing the scientists putter around the facility frantically whenever a detection alarm starts to blare is one of his favorite past-times. Skin to skin contact has been a problem for him because at one point, he couldn't control it and would destroy everything he touched. It's way better now, but there are times when his mental state weakens and the toxins are no longer under his complete control. Since he can infuse his poisons into mundane objects and people, the scientists have to wear a special body suit to protect themselves from any harm Four could give them. And knowing him, he would take his chance whenever he could.
Vɪᴛɪᴀᴛᴜs
Five - Akane
Description-- Akane is a very strange child, always wearing a blank expression. Standing at 4’10 with a tiny frame, Akane doesn’t appear to be seventeen though her distant amber eyes betray her age. Akane has a pale complexion that has never witnessed the harsh rays of the sun. In regards to her face, Akane has a delicate nose and a line of freckles over her cheeks and the bridge of her nose. Her amber eyes are accentuated by thick, long, dark eyelashes. Her entire face is framed by her dark brown hair and her bangs hang over her brows. Akane will often be found wearing a black snapback that she is rarely seen without along with black wireless headphones she wears around her neck. She wears a blue long sleeved button down which often has its collar messed up in some fashion. Over her shirt is an orange sweatshirt that is too big for her and often falls off a shoulder or both. She wears black jeans and blue slip-ons. If she isn't wearing this she is either wearing her orange sweatshirt with capris or shorts. Akane is a very peculiar girl, often looking blankly at people and all in all rather passive. She keeps her emotions to herself and will often allow her feelings to grow until they overwhelm her. She is difficult to read and will often not tell others how she is feeling. Deep down, she is childish and kind, but at the same time she feels lonely and in pain.
Power – Akane has the ability to turn song into a weapon based on the melody and the emotion behind her words. The more emotion behind her words the more powerful her voice is. When she sings using her powers, a force will emit from her voice in a funnel reaching a certain distance away from her depending on her song and how loud she is singing. In addition, if she hums she can create a sort of energy around her that will protect her or harm someone physically attacking her for a short time. The downfall of her power is that if she loses her voice or can’t sing for some reason she can’t use her powers. If she gets sick her powers get out of whack and it becomes a disaster.
Screen name -- ɢнoѕтlιɴɢ
Six - Specter
Description -- Specter is a young man of about 17 years of age. He has dark ash-colored hair and clear blue eyes. He stands fairly tall at 6'1. He usually dresses in simple clothes. A pair of jeans, a shirt, and a jacket are usually enough to keep him content for the day (or longer), and he usually feels out of place in formal clothes and situations. He has no idea why this is, especially considering the lab is anything but a casual setting. Specter is intuitive and observant. He's friendly, but can quickly tell if something is out of place, such as when someone is lying or hiding something from him. The scientists theorize that this has to do with his power. His powers also affect his personality greatly during the "Reaping Night", where he becomes brooding, unresponsive, and near-catatonic. He's completely comfortable with his power, although others may find it unsettling, but he finds it comforting knowing that he's never truly alone, As such, he has a close, almost symbiotic relationship with the "Millie" doll. Specter also has a penchant for mechanics, and can often be seen tinkering with small objects, trying to take them apart and put them back together again.
Power -- Specter's ability is an eerie one, and one that the scientists hotly debate. He can commune with what he refers to as the Spirit World, a realm that goes completely against what scientists accept as the natural world. He can communicate with spirits and other entities that roam the Spirit World, which proves to be a valuable source of information and knowledge. Although the scientists often try to disprove Specter, many of the entities he has spoken to have given him facts about existing individuals and how they had died, facts true to the letter which he could not have learned otherwise. As his power developed, the ability developed in that he could bind weaker spirits to his will and have them perform simple tasks for him or compel them to speak. The lone exception to this is the sinister spirit of a long-dead little girl who calls herself "Millie". The spirit is exceptionally strong, and has attached itself to Specter for some reason. She is willing to aid him, in exchange for limited access to the mortal plane of existence. It is a precarious balance, similar to putting a tiger on a leash, and without his abilities, Specter would have been possessed and consumed long ago. To say the least, "Millie" has not harmed anyone yet, and seems content with possessing a creepy ragdoll and staying by Specter's side. The doll can often be seen moving and looking around. The most disturbing part of this is that Specter's description of Millie matches the records of a Millie Hodgson, a 10-year old English girl who, in 1860, lost her parents to a mysterious killer with a pair of shears. Authorities moved the girl to a foster home, where 2 years later, the foster parents and brother were also killed, again with shears, but this time, the blades had been turned on the girl herself, and she was still alive when the police arrived, face twisted in a maniacal grin. To this day, no one figured out who had killed the family, and no one seemed to suspect that it had been the 'harmless' little girl...
One drawback to Specter's abilities is what he calls the "Reaping Night", which occurs during every New Moon. From 11 PM to 6 AM the next day, Specter becomes drained, quiet, and unresponsive. He doesn't move or make any motion to try and do anything, leaving him in a very vulnerable position. The reason for this is still unknown. Specter claims that during this night, the spirits surround his body in attempt to use the power of the new moon to take control of his body, almost like a grim auction, and that he most focus his energy on driving them off. This claim is still unverified, but it cannot be denied that during this night, the air around Specter becomes freezing cold, and if one pays close attention, they can hear the faint sound of insidious whispering, and may even feel the feeling of cold flesh brush against theirs...
Screen name -- ~Skyblaze~
Seven - Cyber
Standing just over 5 feet and with lightly tanned skin, Seven could be considered your generic kid. His hair is cropped into black, unruly bangs; but there always seems to be a tinge of azure sheen when he actually steps into the light. His eyes, mimicking this blue glow, are somewhat cool and calculating; as if he always has something on his mind. His eyes are shrouded in a set of tinted sunglasses most of the time, but it is easy to read his mood by checking his eyebrows and mouth; the true windows to his soul. If one were to look carefully, Cyber's left canine is chipped; having given up on any fillings created by the resident scientists.
Seven, one of the younger members of the group, could be collectively considered the quiet know-it-all. He, however, doesn't seem to express that as much as most think. When he does, however, he is known for his caustic humor and firecracker quips; making sure his point gets across whilst leaving his attackers in the dust. Rather seeking company in a good book or learning another skill, Cyber is one who will only start showing interest when his interests are taken into heart. He isn't a people-pleaser, but his thorough diligence makes him a perfect strategist; loyal till the end and ready to work. His fatal flaw would be his self-doubt; always thinking that he's overthinking, which in turn causes him to retract into the little safe haven he created inside his head.
Power•|•Seven has a rather unusual ability, well, for people who can't work a cellphone or read a book. Dubbed "The human computer", his power revolves around the ever changing world of technology. His mind could be considered as a giant computer, in fact, which stores information and relays it with ease. He usually uses this as a photographic memory, or a way to store the steps to learning a new skill. Jack of all trades, but master of whatever he needs. This cyber-brain also links up with most types of technology in the area; minus any archaic tools or gadgets without a software.
A downside to this ability is what makes him so down the hierarchy of things: He's basically a computer, and computers glitch. When too much information floods into his brain, Cyber has trouble processing it and goes into a type of panic attack; the latter resulting in either a crazed fit or him fainting. These attacks may also cause him to short-circuit some of the tech in the area, and possibly delete any gathered information he recorded. In the end, one would have to deal with an amnesiac, moody teenager; ain't that fun?
Screen name•|• riv
Eight - Ruby
Description -- Ruby is a girl of about 16-years old. She has long, wavy red hair that comes just past her shoulders, which she usually keeps down. She has bright hazel-colored eyes and a petite frame. She also has a curious little plus-shaped scar at the base of her left wrist. This is strange because due to her ability to easily clot blood and close wounds, she has never had any long term scars, so why she has only one is unknown. She has asked around about it but received no proper replies. Personality-wise, Ruby is a peppy and energetic person. She enjoys talking, and being with friends. She doesn't enjoy seeing others hurt, and to this end, much prefers the more aid-related uses of her ability. Ruby is a very loyal person, and because of this, she can be quite trusting. This can lead her to dangerous situations if she trusts the wrong people. Along with being on the weaker end of the power spectrum, and requiring physical contact to even use her abilities, she prefers to stick close to the others in the group, and would rather be healing and helping rather than fighting in the first place.
Power -- Ruby's abilities are related to blood, and the manipulation of it. To use her abilities, Ruby requires physical contact, and must be able to touch a vein or artery. Once in contact, she can then speed up or slow down the bloodflow, or even reverse it if she wanted to. The span of this is tied to her energy, and can range anywhere from the limb to the whole body, but requires consistent physical contact to reach that level. Although scientists are more interested in the offensive capabilities of her power, it is much more useful in a supporting role. Ruby's abilities can easily clot blood to prevent bleeding out, stimulate bloodflow in someone who has lost a lot of blood, and eliminate blood diseases such as hemophilia and sickle-cell anemia completely from a person. The most lethal use of her ability is that if she can gain access to the bare chest of a person, she can stop their heart, which is why scientists only approach her while wearing specialized chest-protectors.
Screen name -- ~Skyblaze~
Nine - Kite
Description -- Being second to last on the tier of power, Kite is rather underwhelming. He's a bit short for eighteen, standing at about 5'6", with a slender and lean body that is surprisingly lightweight. Kite has rather pointed and drawn facial features, with almond-shaped hazel eyes and sharp eyebrows that are dark and expressive, his mouth always pulled in some kind of smirk. His skin is lightly tan, and his short wind-swept hair is a rather unusual color- dark blue, save for the roots especially by his neck that are a creamy white color. This odd hair color matches the wings that spread from his back, wings of a swallow with dark blue for the top feathers and the same creamy white for the underparts. A forked bird's tail also sticks out right about his pants, and is quite long. His wingspan isn't that large, but big enough to lift his small frame. As a person, Kite is kind of a jerk. Generally, he's sarcastic in the not-so-nice way, and does it unapologetically. Everything he does is in his own self-interest, and he panders to whatever situation he's in or whoever he's interacting with much like an actor, and it's kind of unsettling. It's difficult to pin down which personality traits are truly his, or something he's fronting just to get his way. Clever and coy, he can be a bit smug, and tends to show off a little bit when he gets to chance. He's very sociable, but for all the wrong reasons. Because of this, he isn't very trustworthy and doesn't consider many people his friend, but that's mostly his own doing. Kite is the type of person to pop up at the worst possible moment and make everything bad, which he enjoys. Deep down, he's very restrained and careful, but it's not worth the digging to get to any good part of him, really.
Power -- Being part bird, Kite has a lot of bird things. They're not spectacular bird things, but they work. The most notable and obvious of these are his wings, which enable him to fly. Although, Kite is not a bird of prey, and cannot fly for much longer than 30 minutes to an hour, unless he took up some rigorous training. His body is lightweight because of some hollow bones, and although they are rather strong he can be a bit fragile with more impact than most people. His muscles are quite strong though, and his legs are particularly toned which makes him agile. His senses are slightly heightened, but not much, mostly to aid flight and are generally related to sight as well. His circulatory and respiratory systems have a high metabolic rate and oxygen supply to aid flight and allow him to reach heights not sustainable by most humans.
