The pathed streets of Leibonia are bustling with traders, locals, and the ever present Royal Guard. Children and dogs run under feet, ships are loaded and sent off, and streamers, banners and posters everywhere tell you that it's nearly time for the annual summer festival. Not everyone is feeling particularly festive however, some people are more preoccupied with other things on their minds. Whispers in the street are saying that there's treasure to be found. Not just your average bucket of gold either. Real treasure. The magic kind. Slowly bobbing up and down on the green waves, there's a crew on a ship ready to set sail for the wildest point on the map. They have no idea what they'll find, magic, mischief, malice. One thing's for sure though: it's gonna be one hell of an adventure.
This is an advanced RP, so if you can't whack out a descriptive chunk of text then maybe this isn't the RP for you. I'd like more mature members really, not older necessarily but you know what I mean, I'm just a bit sick of RPs that focus on plot alone and can't go five minutes without making something dramatic happen. I want to have fun with this, but I don't want it to be tiring to do, you know? You must be fairly active, if you're not on for a week, you're gone, you know the drill. I'm not going to bother saying stuff like 'no mary-sues' and 'don't kill other people's characters without asking' because honestly? If it didn't occur to you before, then I'm not sure this is right for you. If you're not comfortable with LGBT+ characters or members then you really shouldn't join, because a} trust me, it's gonna get gay and b} that means LGBT+ members wouldn't be comfortable with you, including myself, and I don't want friction between members. I know this sounds like a big chunk of negative text and I'm sorry! I'm just really excited to make this and I want it to do well!! That's the rules done I swear. If I haven't scared you away, keep reading!! Think about joining!!
This isn't a rule, it's more a note on characters - please don't make all your characters white and straight with names like Jake and Bridget. It's just my opinion, but honestly, nothing blands up an RP more then unoriginal characters with generic names. This is a fantasy world! Give your character a name that means something! Take a Slavic name and a Celtic surname and stick them together! Make them trans! Make them gay! Put them in a poly relationship! Give them dark skin and pale hair! This is a fantasy RP!! Don't waste it on characters that could be picked out of any Disney Channel show and are about as unique as Ashfur's plotline.
Like I said, it's not a rule, it really is just my opinion, but hey, if you really want your characters to stand out and be noticed, having 'strikingly pale skin', blue eyes and a name like Kat really doesn't cut the mustard these days.
Like I said, it's not a rule, it really is just my opinion, but hey, if you really want your characters to stand out and be noticed, having 'strikingly pale skin', blue eyes and a name like Kat really doesn't cut the mustard these days.
✖ The geography and history of this world ✖
There are five countries in this world and not so long ago, as there often is, there was a great war between the two largest, Cleorus and Jospia, over the rights to an object of great magical properties. This war eventually drew in two other countries, Scaii Shen who fought independently for this treasure, and Whayvania who sided with Jospia for the promise that they too would share this prize. Only one country was not involved in the bloodshed {but honestly, this might just have been because no one told them there was a war on.} Eventually however, the object was lost, and the countries could see the damage they caused and came to a treaty. Only Scaii Shen did not join the treaty, feeling that these new laws would restrict the goods they could import and damage the rights of their immigrant workers abroad. As a result, Cleorus invaded, to show the strength of their newfound treaty and still currently occupy the Eastern tip of the country. Whayvania, being the smallest country to have partaken in the war and lying directly between Cleorus and Jospia, was the worst hurt and so, as a friendly gesture, Jospia sent aid and army workers. However, it has been 30 years and Jospia has not withdrawn their 'aid' and many believe they never will, taking advantage of a less well off country. Needless to say, relationships between countries and men are strained and passive aggressive, but trading and borders have never been better. And for a certain group of pirates, it's the perfect climate to set sail for the magical item that started this all.
Cleorus
Leibonia - The pride of Cleorus and often sited as the cultural capital of the world, this coastal Mediterranean city of white alabaster and gleaming sandstone is built on high mountains and cliffs. The richest country, it exports fine clothes, jewelry, gold, fruits, olives and everything that comes with olives. It's densely populated, with a high number of travelers, and lots of work. They're a proud city, some cite as arrogant, and you either love it or hate it, with lemon, orange, lime and bergamot groves decorating the skyline. There are palaces and plazas as far as you can see, just as there are homeless and impoverished. They are ruled by their Monarchy, a family as strong and ruthless as this country's history.
Kydos - A day's sailing from Leibonia, Kydos is a volcanic desert wasteland. There are several smaller volcanoes but the largest is Mount Udiya, which is active. Very active. This awful place is populated with dangerous mythical predators so the monarchs cash in on it with high price game hunting. It has an incredibly low, permanent population, as nothing grows here, but high number of travelers. It exports in minerals and furs and is part of the Cleorusian empire.
Scaii Shen
Lat Sanang - The warm weather and extreme rainfall of this island leads to a southeastern Asian rainforest landscape, towers of limestone and oceans of fog and mist swarm this ancient country. There is very little actual coast, but Lat Sanang has a good port and is popular among shadier traders, as the laws here are more lenient to less legal travelers. The swamps drive away tourists, expect for that certain kind of tourist, you know the one, and they export perfumes, fruit, animals, silks and precious stones. This city is poor after the war and most of the lower town is a slum. There is a wealthy, mainly Cleorusian, immigrant population as the eastern tip is occupied by Cleorus, but the actual rulers are the Royal Family.
Whayvania
Manpere - By far the oldest culture, but the least advanced country, Manpere is one of the few towns in Whayvania, which is mainly a sandy, flat, tropic. Lush jungles that are only populated by native tribes make up the majority of this island, so a few immigrants and a portion of natives built small coastal towns with wooden hatch buildings. The good weather and fertile land have been kind to the Whyavanian people but the war was not, and their country is poor and many parts of it still bar the scars of battle. They have good, popular trading ports, but most of the money goes to the Jospian occupiers. They export fruits, meat, salt and they are led by the Major of Manpere, one of the two only democracies in this world. It's towns are majorly occupied by Jospia.
Jospia
Banelm - The largest island, with rolling hills and temperate weather, is known for it's dense forests and glades. They're the main rivals of Leibonia, but not nearly as warm. A heavily populated cobblestone city on the ocean with stacked buildings and canals splitting the streets rather then roads. Canal boats and smaller vessels can sail right into mainland, and the river earn this city it's nickname 'the town of bridges'. They mainly export common crops, bread, linen, steel and weapons. The town quickly melts away to fields and country sides, and is famous for it's farmers' markets. They get a lot of travelers and are proud to be a 'melting pot of culture'. They are ruled by their monarchy, a royal family as old as Cleorus'.
Salzben - The second largest city in Jospia, settled in the seat of an impressive mountain range, the Heights. The town is made up of white Tudor houses on flat, soft grassland that has been paved for carts and is ringed with pinewood forests that give way at the feet of the mountains. The Heights, impressive slabs of black stone, are too wild to cross as they are always snowing and sleeting, so most travelers use the port to sail to Banelm, or elsewhere. It's fair population exports timber, stone, furs and wool and they are part of Jospian empire.
Pluid Bria
Egring - The only country to not partake in the wars, Egring is on the edge of the world, completely isolated. It's the smallest island, and is high, flat grey moorland the whole way across. The coast is steep and dangerous, and when added to the fact it's so out of the way, Egring is not a busy port. Pluid Bria is infamous for it's caves and spelunking and not much else. It's cold and wet here all year around, and snows heavily in the winter, their seas are frequented with storms. It is very, very windy here, as there are no trees and no hills to hide you. The sky rarely breaks, dense and cloudy all year, and Egring is a small, muddy town filled with suspicious, hard working people. They export farmyard stock, wool, turf, and hardy plants. Their low population is run by the only other democracy, other then in Manpere, and their local government is very local as there are about 350 people in total living in Pluid Bria and 99% of them live in Egring or in nearby farms. It has never been invaded or conquered because there's nothing there worth taking.
On this journey, new islands will be found and explored, and they too will be documented here. Rumor is that this treasure is hidden on an island west of everything, even Pluid Bria, and, there's only one way to find out...
✖ The Goddess and Gods of this world ✖
Every person had their own personal favorite among the deities, and everywhere you look, no matter what island you're on, you'll find a shrine to at least one. Sailors leave tribute to Una and Crebhan, expectant mothers to Caelan, bright young people who want to change the world to Saorise. The list goes on. There are those, of course, who go without. They rather decide their own fates. And you? Who do you serve?
Cerridwen - Goddess of the Moon, stars, justice, life and The Heavens. Queen of the Gods.
Caelan - God of love, marriage, family, households and loss. Counselor to Cerridwen and protector of homes.
Morrigan - Goddess of the Sun, fire, death, witchcraft, war and peace. Queen of the Underworld.
Crebhan - God of language, time, borders, journeys and wealth. Guardian of travelers and Romani.
Saorise - Goddess of the Arts, celebrations, youth, crafts and trades. Patron and Blacksmith of the Gods.
Faolan - God of the harvest, plants, famine, the Seasons and illness. Ruler of the Earth and mountains.
Una - Goddess of water bodies, weather, sea life, natural disasters and monsters. Master of the Ocean.
Eamonn - God of emotional and physical healing, change, luck, forgiveness and good fortune. Symbol of hope and new beginnings.
Flidais - Goddess of animals, blood-lust, tricksters and natural order. The huntress and the mother of Shapeshifters.
Aodhan - God of revenge, retribution, punishment, balance and ambition. Maecenas to martyrs, convicts and social pariahs.
There are countless legends surrounding the Gods, like how Una cursed the isle of Pluid Bria with endless storms, or how Cerridwen and Morrigan are star cross lovers, and that is why Life sends Death endless gifts and why Death keeps them forever. Some see these legends as morals to live by, stories to scare children or the gospel truth. Of all the legends though, there is one that is definitely real, and that is Crebhan's great golden hoop - the Fáinne Mór Óir.
✖ Ƒάιηηє Mσ́я Óιя ✖
The origin of the Hoop is the most well known tale in all the islands, even long before the war. Crebhan looked down on the world from the Heavens and saw the plight and struggle of the common people, particularly the homeless. Seeing as this was his area and his people, he went to Saorise, as she is the Goddess of every trade and they had worked together many times before: Wealth, travel, skills and celebrations go hand in hand after all. He asked her to help him weave something that would help tip the scales in favor of the people who needed it. As the patron of youth, Saorise saw sense in this, and agreed to help, as the young people too would benefit and might just make their world a better place. She crafted a mold for Crebhan and heated it until it was beyond white hot, and then Crebhan poured gold he had collected and blessed into it and watched it melt. When the mold was complete and cool, it was a large, simple hoop, with no hinges or clasps, with a diameter of about a meter. Carefully, Crebhan etched intricate carving along the side of the Hoop, blessing it all the way as he went. When he was done, the Hoop tingled with magic, it glowed, and was warm in his hands. He called it his Fáinne Mór Óir, which translates roughly as Great Golden Hoop in common tongues. The Hoop was blessed so that whoever held it could speak, read and write in any language they desired, and whatever was passed through the Hoop whilst it was held would automatically turn to solid gold. This way, all Crebhan needed to do was find a good soul to be his Hero. With the Hoop's Esperanto abilities, there would be no language barrier and Crebhan's Hero would be able to go into any country without bias or uncertainty and help those who really needed it. However, so powerful was the Hoop that the other Gods and Goddesses could feel it from all of their own domains. Such a surge of power called them all together, even Morrigan came up from her Underworld. The consensus was clear before a real debate even began - such an object simply could not be given to a human. Man was too full of greed, too prone to war. It was only a matter of time before someone killed Crebhan's Hero and took the Hoop, or the sheer power of the thing corrupted the Hero and they began to use it for their own gain. Crebhan was distracted, he wanted to help his people, and this Hoop was the only way to do it. He looked to Saorise for aid, but she had been swayed by the others' opinions and agreed that it had been reckless to make such an item. As Queen, Cerridwen conferred with Caelan, her adviser, and then Aodhan, the God of balance and punishment, and they all agreed that the Hoop must be destroyed, and that Crebhan and Saorise must be reprimanded for making something so powerful without consulting the Others first. Distraught, Crebhan fled from the Heavens and hid the Hoop on Earth, casting one final blessing: That only a humble soul may find it, and therefore, not a God. When he returned, he was punished even more severely then Saorise, who had sent to wander Earth for one month before she could return to her workshop in the Heavens. Flidais shapeshifted Crebhan into a fox and set him loose in Jospia, where fox hunting is a popular sport. No matter how many times he died, he returned the next day as a fox, and this continued for a year. During this year, the Others searched the Earth, no stone was left unturned, but, of course, they could not find the Hoop. Needless to say that the Gods searching the earth caused much wonder among the people, and the story of the Hoop spread, and humans started looking for it, much to the Others horror and ire. Eventually, 100s of years later, the Hoop was found by a simple goat farmer on the outskirts of Cleorus. Immediately he presented it to his King and Queen, who had him promptly killed before he could use it for himself. Crebhan watched in horror from above as his Hoop's blessing was broken, and now anyone could claim it. War started in a matter of days as the King and Queen made their country richer and richer. Morrigan reaped souls left, right and center, Aodhan cast spells of rage and revenge for fallen comrades, Flidais sparkled blood-lust, and worked with Una to create new monsters out of old ones, inspired by the truly limitless horror of man. Faolan wove famines, Saorise stopped making parties and started making weapons. Eamonn tried his best to heal and help but was constantly beaten down by the sheer onslaught of the war, Caelan mourned with the millions who lost fathers, mothers, children, siblings, friends, childhoods and Cerridwen watched from her seat in the stars, waiting for the right moment to enforce her justice. Crebhan himself put at end to the war, stealing the Hoop back and hiding it once more. A small, arrogant part of him did not want to destroy the Hoop, for it was a masterpiece, but another hopeful part of him believed in the good of Mankind and that they'd one day use his gift for good. This time however, there are no blessings on it. It's been thirty years since it was last seen, and it's up for grabs as to can get it first.
And there's a certain ship with a certain crew who are determined that it'll be them.

Captain:
Whetu Cynwrig || Captain || 25 || Female || Lesbian
A rangy young woman with warm, brown, weather beaten skin and sharp grey eyes. Her dark hair is cut short down the sides and sleeked back off her face along the top of her head. She has large lips and a toned, muscular build. There's something indefinitely louche and rakish about her, from her confident swagger to the way she shifts her weight to one hip when simply standing. She has numerous long scars running the length of her back, after a little run in with the Cleorusian Royal Guard and something about corporal punishment. She has a sly, mischievous, lopsided grin and, when at ease and feeling good, an animated way of talking. This is a nice way of saying she was a big mouth. Mainly she wears a long black coat with old brass buttons, a white shirt, plain brown trousers and a dark red sash around her wait. Hard wearing boots come next, as do her cutlass and her Revolver. Whetu rarely carries money, but is hardly without a compass.
Personality-wise, Whetu isn't easy to pin down. She likes to keep herself enigmatic, but she can never stop talking. {Seriously. She never stops talking.} She wants people to fear her, but can never resist having a laugh with her crew. She's loyal to a fault to her own people, but if it's just business, she can turn traitor at the drop of a hat. She's out to further her own gain, that's for sure, and everyone best remember it. She has a greedy, arrogant streak in her, and she loves a good brawl, but can be a perfect gentleman in day-to-day life. She's butch, and tends to take on masculine roles in many things, and isn't above a bit of drag. Whetu has a flirtatious, flattering personality, and she prides herself on being able to use a debonair charm to talk her way out of most of her scrapes. She will talk till the sun goes down on the topic of just about anything, and likes to drink, eat and sleep in good company. She's certainly a social butterfly, and prefers large crowds. She also likes being the center of attention in these loud crowds, but is not easily fooled with praise, having mastered that art herself. Under that smiling side of her lies the pirate whoever. Hell bent on revenge if you cross her and cruel, precise and patient when it comes to putting down her own justice. Snitches are the worst things in her books, and she's been known to take care of anyone who's betrayed her crew in the past.
Born in Manpere to her native mother, she is biracial as her father was a Jospian merchant. She has great contempt for the Jospian monarchy due to the occupation of her country, but nothing against those from there in her crew. Well, only a little. She wants to find the Hoop so she can use it to help her mother out of debt, and help free her country from their occupiers. Also, to buy some cool stuff. Like a new pair of boots, I mean come on, she's had the same pair for years. The legend always fascinated her, growing up poor, and when it was found and then lost again, she knew she had to retrieve it. Whetu has never been one to follow the rules anyway, and the pirate lifestyle quite suits her. || Currently single and ready to flamingle || She's deathly afraid of eels, but likes to keep this under-lock-and-key.

Navigator:
Coran Badami-Fink || 20 || Male || Gay
A spindly collection of bones and flesh, barely strung together under golden, freckly skin, Coran does not look much like a pirate. With slanted, bright hazel eyes, a tiny ski-slope nose and a gap between his two front teeth, he looks more like a toddler. He has a messy mop of curly black hair on his head and an earnest, anxious way about him. He's always fiddling with the ends of his clothes, chewing on pencils, bouncing his legs - even his mannerisms make him seem younger. He has a high pitched, nasal voice and tiny studs earrings in each ear. He is not excessively small, but he is a bit shorter then normal and the strange gait he has, shoulders hunched with big lopping strides, make him seem smaller then he really is. He wears an off-white shirt, tiny round wire frame specs, an ancient tweed jacket with the elbows missing, trousers that are too wide for him, and hard wearing shoes.
A little romantic flower in a nest of brambles, Coran often jokes that he's wasted on the people he's surrounded by. He's soft on the edges, not one for violence, emphasized by the fact he doesn't carry any weapons. In a fight, he's pretty useless, but in a debate, he's a strong candidate. Compared to a lot of other sailors, he's very well educated and his pride comes from his intelligence, leaving him stuck-up and patronizing at times. He tries to remain impartial to petty squabbles and is often the peace maker, finding food ways to calm rattled nerves. He's earnest, chatty and vaguely socially inept, preferring to write his thoughts down then say them out loud, and is often seen with a moleskin journal and a pencil in hand, writing and writing. Always eager to please. Coran has an affable, shy, easy going nature mostly. He can't stand the thought of making another person miserable, or them disliking him, through his actions or words. He's actually quite anxious and nervous because of this, and stresses out a lot, worrying on what other people think of him. He finds other people's emotions very persuasive and is easily led, a mixture of naivety and conformity, and doesn't always see through lies, being trusting and innocent. He's very maternal and easy to talk to, with a gentle, kind heart and a forgiving nature.
His father is from Scaii Shen and his mother from Pluid Bria, where he was raised in Egring. He lived there most of his life on his parents chicken farm, always feeling discontented but never knowing why. He was very studious and din't have many friends, but did excellently in all his tests at school. This earned him the chance off of Pluid Bria, to mainland Jospia, where there are better jobs and universities. Taking his dog Conall, Coran never looked back at his deary home, and thoroughly enjoyed the trip to Banelm. He was actually sad to leave the boat behind, and when he reached the docks, he decided to take up a life at sea for just over a year. This led him to Whetu, who was putting together a crew, and needed a navigator. He liked the sound of the adventurous life she promised and agreed to join her crew. They're still waiting for him to sign in at the university. || Single but he falls in love with every attractive boy he meets || He has an affinity for learning languages and finds them very interesting, and since joining the ship, has made himself far more versed in various tongues. He also writes a lot of poetry in his journal, but would die if the crew ever found out.

Sonal Kapoor || 29 || Female || Lesbian
Well over six foot tall and built like a house, Sonal is not the kind of person you want to run into in a dark alleyway at night. She has a long, hard face: large nose, dark eyes and high cheekbones, and a scar running just under her right eye. Her hair is very long and very black, pulled back off her face in a long, high braid and falling past her hips. Her skin is dark brown and she has thick, stern eyebrows, very muscular arms and legs and an impressive number of tattoos running down her left forearm. She wears a cream, loose, sleeveless shirt and tan harem pants, a choker necklace with simple and hardy brown sandals. Her weapon of choice is her bronze knuckleduster, but she also has a double barreled shotgun slung across her back most of the time. Sonal is well aware that her role is to lift heavy things, and beat up anyone who Whetu says she should.
She prefers to be quiet, and only speaks if she is spoken too, or she has something really worth saying, and tends to find people to talk excessively to be very annoying. Like her Captain. Would it kill her to shut up for five minutes. A no-nonsense sailor who only prefers her own company, Sonal is a bit of a lone wolf. She's very practical and doesn't like being offered help or advice, regardless of whether or not she needs it, making her proud and stubborn. She prefers to listen to others and then make up her own opinion on things, and has great contempt for people who blindly follow crowds and trends. She tends to be very serious, and could usually do with a good laugh, but feels awkward relaxing, and never seems to know when to stop working. She's very observant, though she doesn't always comment on what she sees, and prefers to keep her cards close to her chest. She has very little concern for her own personal health and is awkward discussing her own emotions. She mainly has a calm, aloof manner, which is infuriating to some and handy for others. Seeing such a large brute keep her cool tends to allow other people to calm down in sketchy situations. She fights with an icy coldness and isn't one for taunts. This gives her an impressive poker face, but this is ruined by the fact that she is awful at card games. Sonal just can't get her head around the most basic of games, and nearly always loses. She's a real scrooge when it comes to money, and hardly ever splashes out on anything. Most of her money in the past has gone to doctor's bills honestly.
Born right in the heart of Lat Sanang, Sonal appears to have a personal grudge with most Cleorusians as do her five younger sisters and her mother, and most of the city, in all fairness. She wants to find the Hoop so that she can move her family out of the slums and into more respectable areas, and maybe even put her sisters through school. Sonal is uneducated, and is still learning to read and write on the ship, and is easily embarrassed by her lack of understanding. || Mentioning romance is a sure fire way to get Sonal to blush like no one has ever blushed before and have her exit the conversation effective immediately. || Sonal is quite at home in storms and bad weather, making her a valuable asset aboard a ship. It's just such a shame that mild, calm waters make her ill. Yes, Sonal gets seasick. Very often. She hates the ocean.
Conall || 5 || Male || He is a dog
A grey and white Irish Wolfhound that is taller then most crew members when on his hind legs. Conall is definitely the hairiest member on board and not exactly loved by all, given his sheer size and drooling habits, but he sure does come in handy in a fight. He's mostly an easygoing, lazy dog who smells funny after he's been for a swim and sometimes one of his ears flops back on itself. Just your average dog. Except, he is huge. He gets on well with other dogs, provided they get on with him, cats and children, despite his appearance, but he's smart enough to know when a fight is, and to know what side to fight on. Other then that, he's kind of a stupid dog. Can't fetch, can't follow any commands, doesn't know what a burglar is. He's more of a mascot/occasional bodyguard then perhaps other ship's dogs might be, but he's as much a crew member as anyone.
Came on board with Coran, but has been adopted by the whole crew a s communal pet || He is very found of napping on people, despite his size.

Paladin:
Chrysanta Pallas || 19 || Female || Bi, leans towards girls
A lissom young woman, little more then a girl, with a heart shaped face and golden-brown skin. She has a black beauty spot just under her left eye, and has short dark brown hair cut into a neat waved bob. Her eyes are a dark brown and she has a rosy look about her making her appear very young, red lips and pink cheeks that have been, so far, untouched by scars. However, as a Royal Guard, this will not last. Her eyes are already set with the emotional steel of the monotonous, largely hated, role of the Royal Guard. As she is from a common background, Chrysanta knows how the common people view these peace-enforcers, and it shows on her face in flashes of something close to shame or guilt, but she covers it well, and mostly appears aloof, cold and proud. She's a fair height, with the beginnings of a muscular build, and mainly wears the white and golden uniform of the Cleorusian Royal Guard.
Three words to describe Chrysanta? Uptight, competitive, stalwart. Chrysanta loves to be a leader, being sensible, articulate and ambitious, but rarely shows this in a smile, rather, she is just quick to get the job done and get it done right. She likes her adjectives with 'est' or 'er', and finds it frustrating to be sub-average at anything. She's authoritative, intelligent, mature, strict and confident, a very good public speaker, who isn't very excellent at any one thing, but has consistently good results all around. She does have a good heart, and her intentions are often in the right place, but she can rub people up the wrong way, because Chrysanta will never break a single rule in her life. Nothing angers her more then ungratefulness, and rule-breaking, particularly ones that make sense, and are there for a reason, and she often takes it upon herself to decide suitable punishments and play God. Despite her young age, she can be fairly cantankerous and is a natural sword fighter, a mixture of hardwork and raw fire. She likes to learn other people's strengths and weakness in a team, so she can play to them. Chrysanta posses an honest, earnest sense of right and wrong, and isn't easy swayed, very stubborn and easily angered, uncompromising and certain that she knows best. She tends to be her own harshest critic, and beats herself up over tiny failures, that seem insignificant to others, but keep her up at night.
She was born to a poor family in Leibonia, and when she turned 11, appealed for a place in the Academy for Royal Guards, as she would be educated, fed, clothed and at the end of it, have a job. However, she was forced to leave her family, and did not see them, unless it was a national holiday, for eight years. As she was on financial aid the whole time she was schooled, she did not expect to be promoted to Paladin, let alone at such a young age. She's proud of what she's accomplished so far, and views her position with pride. || She's single and wants to focus on her work for now. || She has a real sweet tooth and really loves pastries. Harpies - Humanoid creatures that never seem to age with various animal appendages, all have bird wings but most have other too, making them truly monstorous. Known for causing trouble and destroying houses, they like wild areas and find it fun to pick on humans. They like to gather things, not unlike magpies and have elaborate nests. They're vicious, cruel creatures, even to one another, though some are slier then others. It is commonly assumed they can only be female, but most harpies are genderless and do not understand this human concept. They too worship and fear The Gods. Open, none encountered
Herschel Garrick || 104 || Agender || Asexual
A barely humanoid creature with tough tan skin and darker flecks along their entire body. They have shaggy dark brown hair that comes to the nape of their neck, and a brilliant pair of antlers producing from just behind their forehead. Their wings are impressive tawny feathered things with a fairly large wingspan. Herschel also has four eyes, two regular ones and two smaller slated ones where their eyebrows should be. Their jaw opens wide, right up to underneath their earlobes, and they have a long brown tail, clawed feet with only three toes and talons at the end of their fingers. Herschel dresses in a battered purple tunic, brown leggings and a little leather necklace.
Usually appearing apathetic and bored, Herschel is arrogant, vain and mainly unimpressed. They find their fellow harpies boring and vulgar, preferring to live alone and read. Herschel hoards books, stealing them from ships, houses, cabins, carriages: wherever they can. They just can't get enough of reading, and they do believe it is the only thing Mankind is good for. After living to such an age, and reading so much, Herschel has become a bit of an infamous icon in darker circles, for Harpies have excellent memories and they have not forgotten a single word read. Its irks Herschel that people will occasionally try to find them and ask them questions, particularly since that Hoop was found again. Herschel hasn't had a moment's peace. They do interactive with other creatures from time-to-time, and frequents Dark Markets and Pirate trading ports to buy new books. Their nest is made of stone and laced with comfier leaves and grasses, but absolutely surrounded by books. Herschel is much more of a hoarder then other Harpies and never lets a single book go. In fact, it's the only way to get them to show emotion, damage or steal one of their books. Then you'll see sparks fly, for sure. They do their best to bury their primitive, chattering nature, finding it undignified and disgraceful, but Herschel is still a Harpy, no matter how many books they read, and will still slaughter and maim if angered.
They lived on Kydos for most of their life, but when the Big Game Hunting started to really pick up, Herschel migrated to a quieter island, and only interacts when humans now to steal their food or books. They have been known to steal children, as they trade well on the Black Market, and have gotten Herschel many books in the past. || Breeding is for a lesser creature || Herschel is inclined to eat human occasionally but they find Man rather dirty creatures and don't make a habit.
Dragons - Flying reptiles creatures that vary from being the size of your hand to as large as mountains. Some breath fire, some have no wings, some are benevolent, some are blood thirsty. The only thing they all have in common is that they are very old, and very hard to trick. Like Harpies, most Dragons hoard something and have incredible nests. Not all eat meat, and some are very peaceful creatures. They have the gift of language, and can speak to humans as they please. They not only believe in the Gods, many have met some. Open, none encountered.
Leviathans - Dragons that live in the ocean get their own separate category for they are just as old, but not as unpredictable. Created by Una specifically to punish Man, they hate humankind and live in the murkiest depths. They are ancient, intelligent creatures who love riddles and can be bargained with, but are known to play with their food and be all round merciless. They too can speak to humans and they are the only known thing that Mermaids actively fear. Very hard to kill, as they tend to be monstrous in size. Open, none encountered.
Mermaids - Tricky creatures, with human torsos and the tail of a fish, they have multiple genders and are known for their inhuman beauty and their love for flesh. They do not sing to lure their prey in, rather they simply talk to it. Survivors have said they are charming and witty until you see their pointed teeth. They appear to live to eat Man, for no research as ever supplied anyone with anything else they might do. There are rumors that some mermaids can control water, or start storms, but there is no proof. Still, nothing is impossible. Open, none encountered.
Selkies - Timid, shy creatures who appear like seals when in water, but become people when they approach dry land. They are said to be humble and reserved, very flighty and easily startled. They are characterized by their large eyes and incredibly soft skin when humans, and often they have an odd way of speaking. Other then this, there is no difference between a Selkie and a human at first glance. They don't do well around violence and prefer to remain above conflict. Sometimes hunted by mermaids, mainly for sport and rarely for food, most Selkies who are not babies tend to be heavily scarred. Open, none encountered.
