Poppyfrost really isn't Berrynose's mate; she is Breezepelt's. When Breezepelt threatened to kill her it was only because he didn't want Jayfeather to suspect that he was the father, and that's why Poppyfrost begged Breezepelt not to kill Jayfeather because she didn't want to believe that her mate is evil. Plus, why else would Breezepelt have followed Poppyfrost? Because they were meeting up, duh.
