Wendy perched on one of the stones by the squat building they called home. Mostly hand carved out of one of the hills on the island, the home only existed by the magic of the loop. The fact that it had been made of materials in the loop by the peculiars of the loop was the only things keeping it from resetting, and they were thankful for it. The loop was so old no other structures existed in it.
Wendy was sitting outside because she was waiting for one of the things that she'd seen happen everyday for the last century to happen. She smiled, her eyes watching the sky. At any second, a group of birds would fly towards their house and stop. They would later evolve into one of the islands current bird residents because of this stop, and Wendy always enjoyed feeding them, because she could convince herself that she was helping that species begin. Plus birds didn't try to get her to remove her gloves and learn a story to tell them, like some of the younger children did. She liked that about them.
(Alright, I've got to go. Be back in a few hours!)

Nina was close to falling asleep, the girl laying on her back nearby, enjoying the warmth of the suns rays n her skin. She could hear the soft waves of the ocean, something that never failed to calm the girl, no matter how long she had been in this loop for. She opened one eye, watching the birds momentarily before sitting up, brushing the dust off of her back. It had been awhile since anything vaguely interesting happened here, and, quite honestly, she was ready for something out of the ordinary to happen. She glanced at Wendy, debating on whether she should speak to her or not, hesitant to break the apparent peace she was in.

Avalon had been roaming around, and noticed a few others just lounging outside. They, having nothing else to do, went to join them. Sitting in a spot nearby the two other girls, they joined in the silent basking, liking the feel of the sun on their skin. No words were spoken, Avalon liking quiet. Not that they wouldn't talk if another peculiar at the home came up to them. Sighing softly, they went to lay on their back, looking up at the sky with arm going over their head as shade. This was what they, Avalon and the others, would do. Lounge around or attend to whatever chore. Nothing eventful ever happened for the peculiar in Ms. Akepa's home. Yet. A small smile appeared on their face, as they thought of the possibilities.

Wendy slowly climbed to her feet, watching the birds that had just landed with a careful eye. She slowly crept towards them, a handful of seeds harvested the previous day clutched in her left glove. When she was close enough, she made a sweeping motion with her arm, scattering a light wave of the seeds near the birds. The reaction was instant, a slight fluttering of fear that gave way to the birds pecking at the seeds. She always found it fun to watch, the awkward way the birds tried to get to the seeds they were unadapted to eating. In the early days of the loop, just after she'd discovered these birds and learned their future, she'd tried giving them different kinds of foods each day just to see how they reacted to each one. It had been rather fun, before she'd tried everything she could find and had resorted back to the easiest. It was more a ritual than an experiment now, but she was okay with that. That's how loops turned out if you lived in them long enough, or so she'd been told.

"What are their futures?" She asked, walking towards Wendy, curiosity getting the better of her. She had learned awhile ago about her ritual with the birds, and from time to time she would ask Wendy about them, genuinely curious. She never tried to push her, not wanting to be one of those people. She settled down against the stone, bare feet digging into the sand, enjoying the warmth momentarily. She studied her hands in boredom, before absentmindedly creating a sand castle out of the sand in front of her.

Wendy looked up, a small smile gracing her face. She did like talking to people, when they didn't push her to use the power that brought her so much torment. "You know the ʻIʻiwi bird? Though they're not the only ancestor, these birds contributed to their genes. Of course, with all the modern people on these islands, many of the birds are disappearing outside the loop." Wendy sighed, her eyes fixed on the birds. Then they traveled to the casual Nina ran her bare feet through the sand. Part of Wendy longed to be able to enjoy something like that, but every time she tried there was an overwhelming flurry of color overlapping itself, a vision of each grain of sand's life that sent her head spinning. she often hated and resented her power, for all that it inhibited her life.
(Hey, Smokey Feather, I'm sorry to be a bother, but I noticed a serious typo in Miss Akepa's form. I fixed it now, on my post, so could you replace it? The loop is supposed to be in the thousands of years old, but for some reason I only wrote in the hundreds. I must not have been thinking clearly.)

"Hopefully one day they will flourish outside of here," She commented hopefully, watching the birds with fascination. She ran a hand through her pixie cut, the sand castle falling in a poof, and the girl scrambled backwards, sand getting into her face and mouth. She coughed, hating the taste. She glanced at Wendy rather sheepishly, hoping that the dirt hadn't touched the other girl. "Sorry, I got distracted," she mumbled, embarrassed. Creating things required complete and total concentration, so she couldn't talk until her creation was finished.

"It's alright," Wendy offered, though a few grains had brushed against her neck and face. Luckily, they'd gone just as quickly as they'd come, and she'd gotten little more than a second of disconnected colors. Contrary to her words, however, the colors were enough for her to back up a step, hoping to avoid it again. She offered a strained smile, hoping Nina wouldn't notice. "I do hope they'll flourish again one day, but many have been lost completely. So these islands can never be the same again."

"Yeah," Wendy said, her frown clear in her voice. "So many wonderful things lost. There's just so little I could do." Wendy scattered the rest of the seeds, then settled on a rock nearby, watching the birds peck at the seeds she'd given them. There was a quiet kind of remorse in the way she sat. Some times she too wished she could leave, but then she'd remember how overwhelming a world she couldn't protect against would be.

Miss Akepa stepped out of the then rough building she used as a home, noticing some of her charges. The rocky ground in this section of the island required a bit of focus when moving too quickly, but after a century of living there, Miss Akepa had memorized her yard enough to not need to luck. She approached the children instead, realizing after a minute that Avalon, her newest charge was among them. "Avalon," Miss Akepa called to them as she got closer, stopping close enough to talk without invading their personal space. "I trust you've settled in well enough? Adjusting to a loop as old as this one can be hard for peculiars used to a few more modern luxuries."
(Sorry this took so long I had a crazy week this week.)
