OOC Maybe a lab rat deal then?
IC "Fi, Fifi, dear, my friend, it stinks in here, can't we just go take a walk on the school grounds? There won't be as many people out there and it gets us both out of here," Mavis suggested, glaring over at one of the smokers. "This'll kill you, ya'know!" She called out to them and they sort of just shrugged her off. Mavis shook her head at them before focusing on her friend. "I won't leave until you come with me, and you know I'll just spend the entire time in here complaining and shouting at everyone here," she countered, folding her arms.

Fia raised an eyebrow. "Well you've definitely made that clear." She deadpanned. "And one could argue that since we are outside, this /is/ fresh air." She gestured to the alley way in between the school buildings for emphasis. "How long until lunch is over anyway? I know we have ensemble, but I'm not going to that for obvious reasons, and then I get out early because I'm not taking any credit classes."

IC "Real fresh air, not this smoke and germ infested sorry excuse for oxygen," Mavis argued, keeping her arms folded as she sent glares over at the people there. "Lunch still has about fifteen minutes left, plenty of time to walk around and get away from this place," she explained as she brought a hand up to her face to wave away more smokey air. The brunette was a tad hard to get along with sometimes...a bit more on the moody side...often swallowed up by some sort of paranoia. Mostly related to germs and such.

Fia just snickered, not offering a response. Mavis was always a character... But Fi would never complain about her only friend. She was not in a position to complain when she had no other options -or even past experiences really. Instead of adding another quip, she stands up, her cane's leather strap still around her wrist, and begins to collapse the fiberglass with skilled hands that have done the same thing for years. Since learning how to properly guide her, and Mavis was the only one who did know properly how, it became an unspoken agreement that Fi was to be relieved of her focus whenever possible, at her friend's insistence.

IC Mavis instinctively started to guide her as she headed out to make their way to the grassy football field they could go to for some real fresh air. "What were you even doing in there Fi? It's disgusting," she commented and idly pulled out the hand sanitizer again to clean her hands with it, she hated having to touch anything with her hands. (Sorry it's short.)

With one hand holding her cane and the other grasping Mavis' arm, just above her forearm, Fi finally let her guard down for a bit. It was exhausting to be always aware of your surroundings, and even worse if you were making up for a lack of sight. "It's the closest exit from my last class." She answered, a bit dazed, and tired. At hearing the familiar pop of the hand sanitizer being opened, she paused her thinking. Mavis, as her personality demanded she'd be a mother hen, sometimes cleaned Fi's hands as well, just to rationalize that something she was touching was clean. Unlike other people, who might get easily annoyed by this, Fi simply let her do her thing. While it was usually cold and she didn't like the feeling of it drying on her hands or the smell, it was just part of being around Mavis.

IC Of course once Mavis had gotten both their hands cleaned, which had become a habit of hers, to clean not only her own hands but also Fia's, so that was just what she did. "Hmmph, it's still an awful place to go," she stated, shaking her head as some her brown fluffy locks of hair fell into her face and she blew it away. "Fi, you know when I can't find you I worry about you, we need some sort of meeting spot, like I don't know, outside your classrooms," she suggested.

"I thought that was are meeting spot." Fia retorted automatically. "I mean, it's where I usually am this year. And before that it was the back exit for the cafeteria, which is a lot grosser of a place, I might add." Fia couldn't help but think that Mavis just didn't want her going outside the school without her, but the blue eyed teen really couldn't stand for that. She'd been independent for so long it was unreasonable.

IC "Well then we need a new meeting spot, one cleaner than the others...which is hard because almost nothing in this school is actually clean, too many people with too many possible germs, nothing is really clean here," Mavis said, going on a slight tangent. It would be easier if she just knew where her friend was, Mavis had a tendency to worry, and Fia was really the only one who could honestly put up with her and all of her...quirks, so really her worrying only intensified. Though perhaps it would be a good idea to change the topic. "You know that experimental lab in the city? They're asking for volunteers to try something out," she explained, trying not to sound too curious about it. "It's all perfectly safe, and people could earn some loose cash for it too...personally I think that might be kind of cool, I was thinking of signing up. They'll accept anyone above the age of fifteen," she explained. Labs were cool, and usually kept very clean as a precaution and she could use the money.

"Look, if this is just your way of treating me like I'm helple-" And subject change. Well, at least they didn't need to have an argument, right? "So, we'd get paid to drink radioactive goo and crud? I'm in." She answered. "Though, I doubt I'd be picked as a candidate." Fia mentioned off-handedly. Yeah... Genetics probably came into play when scientists were selecting their test subjects, and hers were pretty faulty. Plus, this would be good for Mavis. She didn't have any friends, and while it never bother the raven haired girl to be in the same predicament, she was pretty sure her friend was lonely, despite Fia's personal efforts. If Fia didn't qualify, it wouldn't be the end of the world. Even if it meant Mavis didn't really have to be her friend anymore. (This monologue is of course completely speculative. Since we already planned for them to have powers.)

IC "Hey, you never know. You might, and I don't know if they would really had us drink stuff, or something else. I'm going over there after school tomorrow though, so I'll have the weekend to know if they'll accept me," she explained, having already cleared it with the orphanage, she figured she was good to go whenever. She was a very healthy person so that had to help, and science...especially genetic engineering had always been something that had really fascinated her. The only problem was that she had always been a bit squeamish with it all.

(Orphanage? Back story time for Mavis!)
Fia, instead of answering, just shrugged. Her parents didn't really pay attention to her, so there was no one she needed to gain approval from them, and it'd at least be a better idea than sitting at home all the time. "I'll go with you anyway." She answered finally, still a bit wary about the idea.

☃️IC:☃️ Mavis smiled at that. "Well it'll be nice to have you there. Wouldn't be the same without you there to try crazy experiments with," she joked, honestly she wasn't all that sure of the extent that they would do or even be allowed to do there, but Mavis had already figured that besides her friend, she didn't have much to loose, so why not try something crazy out?

"I'm not saying I won't try it." She answered, smiling a bit. Her eyes were unfocused as always, and she didn't wear sunglasses. Most people were surprised by this, but she didn't have light sensitivity the way most sight-impaired people did. She didn't see the point in covering up if she couldn't see the difference anyway.

☃️IC:☃️ "Try it, don't try it, either way-I'm trying it, who knows what'll happen? Maybe something cool," Mavis remarked, smiling lightly at the thought, because despite her enjoying her life for the most part...she had a good friend, the orphanage was nice, even if she was too old now for anyone to actually want to adopt her, however she would definitely enjoy something new to spice up her life. She had honestly been feeling a bit on edge as of late...like she needed to try something else out.
