In April, 1775, the American Revolutionary War broke out at the famous Battles of Lexington and Concord. It was the culmination of years of American frustration towards the British. Perhaps you've heard of the Boston Tea Party? December, 1773. The news didn't reach Britain until a few months later. In 1774, the Coercive Acts (or more commonly known as the Intolerable Acts) were passed, intended to punish the unruly colony of Massachusetts. With British troops invading the homes of perfectly innocent individuals, and governmental meetings of colonists severely restricted, the place was practically under martial law.
So here is we place our story. A collection of colonies, fed up with their ruler, on the brink of war. The month is November, just a week after the conclusion of the Continental Congress. The Sons of Liberty and their allies, although officially disbanded, are still busy protecting the rights of the colonists. And perhaps scarier things than Britain's navy lurk in the night.
Hamilton is a fantastic musical. American history is pretty dang interesting. After reading a bunch of revolutionary war documents and what not, I've been pretty interested in this time period. Of course, I don't know everything there is to know. I apologize beforehand if I or anyone else on this thread gets something incredibly wrong. I'm sure we'll all be doing some research as we rp.
To explain how this will work real quick, this is a simple jump in rp of an American Revolutionary War AU in which supernatural creatures are a real thing. Legitimately scary monsters who have to make sure to stay hidden. But mostly the American Revolution thing.
Always LGBTQ+ inclusive. Though, yes, times were different so, unfortunately, slavery is a thing and we can't just erase that. So please feel free to have African American characters and have them be freed slaves/runaways/whatever you wish, but slavery is really not the focus of this lol. Basically, don't be a terrible human being about this all, k? Thank you.
No form needed, but if you want to, feel free to do so!!
also it's very late i apologize for this terribly written post

Romero RamondoA runaway slave. He's very enthusiastic and outspoken, yet simultaneously very quiet. Incredibly stubborn, he has an unchangeable moral compass, and cares very deeply about others. He dresses rather nicely, and wishes he could wear the brightest colors money can afford. A member of the Sons of Liberty.fc: alisson scagliottiMarietta "Mitzi" Durand Let's just imagine she's older than her faceclaim, please. Twenty-nine or so Mitzi was a former privateer- captain, in fact -until her real gender was discovered and she's been on land since. She's usually found in a scrappy naval bridge coat, at the moment helping out the American rebels because, well, they pay her in food and drink, and that's good enough reason to break the law.

The sounds of angry British soldiers lurked in the distance behind the Sons. Among them, Romero grinned, as if this were the best moment of his life. Admittedly, it was a lot better than Virginia. And who didn't enjoy jeering at the British? A giggle escaping his lips, he tossed a glance over his shoulder. "Hey you think they might be angry at us?" He joked breathlessly, skidding to a halt in the snow. Ducking into an alley, he grabbed his nearest friend to pull them along, hoping the others would get the idea and follow along. Sure, the heads of the organization might not be so happy with their very obvious antics, but they could certainly tell a good story back at the tavern. Once through and at some other street, Romero stuffed some of his scarf back into his coat to keep it out of the way and gestured for someone else to lead. He still wasn't all to familiar with the layout of Boston, after all.

Sometimes, Gregory really wanted to smack a little sense into Romero. The other Son seemed to love getting wrapped up in harebrained plans that seemed to go sideways at the drop of a hat and this hadn't exactly been the first time the British had chased them through the streets of Boston. Hell, he hadn't even planned on coming, but he wasn't about to let his friends run headlong into trouble without someone to watch their back. At least this time they'd managed to put a little distance between themselves and their pursuers. As they made their way out onto the street, he pulled his coat more closely around himself and moved forwards to walk beside Romero, "That was a little closer than I like, friend." Small ice crystals formed in his thick brown beard and the rather brawny man hunched over slightly as the cold wind seemed to cut right to the bone.

Isaak leaned back in his seat, eyes flicking to the door, half anxious and half excited all at once. He was no stranger to life-threatening situations, but this one seemed just a little more...important, so to speak. He kept an unassuming appearance, fingers wrapped lightly around the sweaty mug in his hand, head low. He hadn't chose to be a part of the actual event: being a foreigner, it would be a big giveaway and paint him an easy target, and as a doctor his services were more helpful in other areas. The rendezvous point, The Green Dragon Tavern, was mostly quiet. Unfamiliar with a lot of the local folk, he wasn't entirely sure which were Sons and which weren't. Though, by the smell of their fear, it sort of became obvious. It wasn't like he was extremely loyal to the Americans, but he was none too fond of the Brits, much to his brother's disdain. Eh, more people to suture, bigger crowds to get lost in, he preferred it in all honestly.
Pushing his glasses up with a free hand, he turned to the woman next to him, who sat equally as calmly in her wrap, chin resting in her palm, chestnut hair pulled back. "Do you think they died?" he asked in a hushed tone, thick with a German accent. She simply made a face and smacked his shoulder none too lightly. Audrey had never been one to put up with his shenanigans, not at work and definitely not now. "Just give them a minute."

Romero, out of breath but giddy as ever, slapped a hand on Gregory's back. "Ah, but where is the fun in safe and easy? Is this not freedom that we seek? Why follow the law of a tiny island across the ocean? It wasn't as if we hurt any Americans!" Really, all they had done was make fun of some soldiers and stolen some stores of ink. It wasn't anything major, merely a headache. Although, the original plan was to do more damage than that, but things obviously didn't go so well. To Romero, however, anything he could do- including the stupid, possibly very dangerous plans -seemed like a perfectly good, patriotic idea. He was, unfortunately, also aware that Gregory did not approve of this behavior. Considering the man was helping him stick around here, he should, maybe, do as he said a bit more. "I am sorry, Gregory. We should have thought it through more. Perhaps, next time, you could help!" Romero suggested, a hopeful grin on his face. "Help and make sure that we do not die."
Mitzi, waltzing out of some back room and already looking drunk as ever, smirked upon seeing the two faces at the bar. She sauntered on up behind their chairs, slinging an arm around either of the individuals. "Well hello there! You must be the doctors I've heard about." Squinting at Isaak, she leaned a little closer and sniffed at him. "Thinkin' you might be needing a shave, sir."
