For just a second there she wanted to call out and beg for him to stay, but he was already gone. Before she knew it his starry figure had faded away and she was left with nothing more than the scenery of her den.
That was when Mudfeather let herself feel a sense of bittersweet amusement.
The medicine cat shook her head, turning around to look at her mate's lifeless body. "Already so vague, my love. You truly have been welcomed into StarClan..." The tone of her voice was dry, the look in her eyes dull, but she felt somewhat better. Blackpelt would still be by her side even in the stars. She would get to meet him at least twice a moon when she visited the Moonfall. It wasn't the same as having him here with her in the physical plane of existence, but she had to remember that he was going to be there for her always.
Mudfeather took a few minutes to just lick his pelt, smoothing down his black fur gently. The she-cat thought about what he had said for a moment, but she had to push that to the side for right now. For the moment the female had more important things to do. She then pulled away and got to her paws, slowly stepping out into the main area of camp to break the saddening news to the Clan.

Larksong looked up as Mudfeather padded from her den. She looked so worn out and run down from caring for Blackpelt. Some cats had gathered when they heard her yowl of sorrow. Dread seem to cling to the air around them. Her amber eyes caught the sorrow in the medicine cats owl like eyes. "Oh now..." she whispered softly.

Chillberry had nearly broken into a panic at the yowl, whipping around to face the source. Rather, he end up joining the crowd that was close to the medicine den. When Mudfeather emerged, he could only not le how upset she looked and assumed the worst before it was stated.

A few cats had gathered out in the camp by now. Perhaps her yowl of heartbreak had woken them up or alerted them to the current happening of the Clan. Blackpelt had not made it through the night. Mudfeather had never hoped to have to say something like this to the Clan, but she had to put her duty before her feelings. As a medicine cat her love for Blackpelt had been forbidden; no cat could know how she had truly felt for the deputy.
With the few cats gathered in camp, the medicine cat looked around with her dull eyes and shook her head. "Blackpelt walks among StarClan now," she mewed in a choked voice that she hoped cats would only see as sadness due to not having been able to save just a regular patient, not her mate. Even now they had to keep their affections a secret, and their secret was something that was going to be kept even in the grave. Literally.
Among the cats that had gathered due to Mudfeather's yowl was Chickenstar. Hearing what the medicine cat had to say brought a crushing feeling down on his chest. "Blackpelt..." He murmured, ears flattening in painful sorrow. His deputy of only a few days...the cat that was supposed to have been by his side for seasons and seasons to come. He was gone. RidgeClan was left without a deputy once more. Chickenstar knew he would have to go back to figuring out who should replace Blackpelt, but right now was the time to mourn for a wonderful warrior and a terrific deputy.

Sorry for not being on sooner, so much has been going on. Went to camp, had to go to the hospital overnight, and then went back to camp. It's really not a camp, just a small group of families spending the night several times in a row.

Well, since the start of last week I had a really bad pain on my side and a stomach sickness, and the pain got worse and started to move and I felt super sick so we went and spent 14 hours there. They are not really sure what it is, and they did find fluid in my stomach but they couldn't find the source soyeah. I have to go in again soon, because I am still not feeling good at all.

I have to go in again soon, because I am still not feeling good at all. { Really funny and embarrassing story about me. In 10th grade (I'm a senior now) my stomach was hurt so bad. Like I didn't g to school for a few days and when I did my mom had to come get me. Then, she thought it was my appendix so she took me to the doctor and what not. Well up there they xrayed me. Well by now ive texted a few people that they may thing its my appendix and everyone was freaking out. Doctor comes back in the room, sits down and looks at me and says "Your appendix is fine.Youre constipated and you're the worst case of constipation that ive ever seen, an ive seen so really bad cases. So I had to text everyone had that I was constipated. } |
